The female vampire watched in disdain as the hanyou vampire slaughtered another miko in the tomb. She found her reason for being there pointless these nights. The hanyou would not be able to resurrect the demon lord, much less put him under his control.

“I thought you were supposed to be helpful?” A black haired woman approached the vampires. The vampiress raised an eyebrow in mockery.

“I thought you knew what you were doing Kikyo.” The vampiress sneered.
“I am not your master's lapdog. I have my own master.”
s
“Of course you do.” Kikyo sneered back. The young woman Kikyo was probably lovely when she was alive. But her appearance had become death-like after the hanyou vampire turned her.

“Stupid male.” The vampiress growled as she watched the blood pool around her. Her dark eyes shifted around the room. The walls were once a polished black now tarnished with age. The floor was covered in candle wax from the hanyou's rituals.

“Enjoying the view, Raven?” the hanyou stood before the vampiress. She snorted.

“I can't enjoy anything with you around, Naraku.” Raven replied, enjoying the way her sputtered.

“If you weren't so damn useful I would have killed you already.” Naraku snapped. Raven shrugged her shoulders, brushing a dark lock of hair off her forehead.

“You can't kill you superiors.” She said.

“I am older than you by two centuries.” He said through clenched teeth.

“Ah, but I am a full vampire.” Raven grinned, showing her fangs. “You are a half breed both ways.” Naraku had his hand around the small vampiress' neck and lifted her off the ground.

“Not for long.” He snarled in her face.

“I told you, the demon lord was turned against his will. He will not tell you how to become a full vampire. Perhaps you should try becoming a full youkai.” She grinned at him, knowing she hit a sore spot. Naraku roared in fury, flinging the vampiress away from him. He watched in satisfaction as her body made a sickening crunch when it hit the tomb.

Pity it didn't crack open.

Sugumi leaned over the couch and placed a damp cloth on the young woman's head. He was not expecting the young miko to faint. Maybe he should have given her more warning.

“I can't believe you.” Inu Yasha ground out. “You want him back.”

“If it had been you it would be the same way.” Sugumi replied calmly, watching as the miko Kagome shifted under his touch.

Kaelas watched the former Western Lord with hooded eyes. He could feel Sesshomaru stirring in within in the back of his mind.

*What is happening?* he demanded. Kaelas watched Kagome stir and her eye lids open to reveal sapphire eyes.

*She fainted when she saw your portrait. Can't wait to see how she will react when she get out of that tomb.* Kaelas's light blue eyes looked over to the fuming hanyou. *Of course, if your brother gets his way, you won't be getting out.*

*Half brother. And if I want her, there is nothing he could do to stop me.* Sesshomaru replied as he watch Inu Yasha stalk towards Kaelas.

“Alright you flea bag, I know you understand me.” Inu Yasha crouched down to Kaelas's eye level. “He can't have her.”

*Who are you to question it?* Kaelas demanded.

“What are you doing?” Kagome loomed over the two dogs. Inu Yasha shrunk back but Kaelas bumped her hand. She gave an irritated sigh but rubbed his ears none the less.

Inu Yasha watched the wolf's eyes roll into his head under Kagome's skillful hands, his own fuzzy ears plastered to his head.

“Where's the tomb?” he suddenly demanded. Kagome huffed.

“I already told you, its somewhere on my shrine's grounds.” She fumed.

“Good. Then I will go and stop whoever is trying to resurrect the bastard.” He punched his hand.

“Inu Yasha.” Sugumi said in a cold voice but Kagome intervened.

“You! This is my case too! Not to mention it's my property. I am coming with you.” She placed her hands on her hips and glowered at the hanyou.

*This is not going to be good.* Kaelas thought.

There was no doubt in his mind now that the sealing spell was weakening. He could clearly hear the voices outside his encasement. In fact, he could smell them.

There were two females, vampires both of them though one out powered the other greatly. There were also a handful of males, a mixture of youkai and vampire. The strongest stench of all was the strangest. It was a combination of hanyou and vampire. Half of each side.

“Would you stop with the incessant killing? This is becoming pointless.” A sultry female voice ran out. It was the more powerful vampiress.

“We did not ask for your input, woman.” A male's voice snarled.

“Do not talk down to me, Youkai.” She snarled back. “I refuse to watch any of you derive pleasure from killing any more young women.”

“Maybe we should spill her blood.” Another voice mumbled.

“Raven.” The halfbreed spoke.

“Go to hell, Naraku.” The vampiress replied.

“My dear, we are already in hell, I just want to control it.” He said.

“You will not be able to control the demon lord.”

Control? Him?

He mentally chuckled. He would never be controlled by some half breed.

*I know you can hear me.* the vampiress voice rolled through his mind, Raven was her name. *The halfbreed is called Naraku. Perhaps you have met him? He orginates from Feudal Japan.* Yes, he remembered a power hungry hanyou searching for a way to become full youkai.

*What do you seek to gain from me, onna?* He demanded.

*Nothing.*

*You lie.*

*Hardly. I was sent by my master to watch the hanyou. Vampires have changed over the years and we fear the power he seeks to gain.*

*You should fear what you are trying to release.*

*Perhaps, but I do not seek power unlike the hanyou. He turned a miko detective into a vampire to release the sealing spell. It must have slipped my mind that her powers would become tainted.* He knew there was a reason he was tolerating this female. But there was something he remembered not to long ago. It concerned the second female vampire. Ah, yes.

*I heard your screams.* Raven did not answer, nor did he expect her to. She was the one loosening the sealing spells. She could only do so much of course; the rest would take a houshi or miko to fully release him. But he was in full mind ensuring he could never be controlled.

*Your companion approaches.* She whispered. Sesshomaru's thoughts stilled. *Naraku knows they approach, dammit. They have replaced the bitch Kikyo with another miko. This one is stronger.*

*You will not harm her!* Raven clenched her head and fell behind the group as they went to meet the miko and her entourage. She could feel her body bending under the demon lord's control. He had much more power since she loosened the spells. If she didn't do something soon, he would kill her.

*I do not want to harm her! I am going to get her away from Naraku. Release me.* Sesshomaru released the vampiress from his hold. He hoped the miko Raven spoke of was not his Kagome. His. He liked that.

Sango was a little shocked to see Inu Yasha and an older male with silver hair step out of Kagome's car. Kaelas leapt from the vehicle as Kagome went to the trunk and pulled out her issued gun.

“Kagome, what is going on?” Sango asked as she eyed the older version of Inu Yasha.

“I'll have to fill you in on the way.” Kagome answered. Sango nodded and went inside for her issued hand gun and her own youkai exterminating weapon.

“Oh hell no. She ain't coming too.” Inu Yasha crossed his arms across his chest. Kagome's sapphire eyes narrowed. With a miko ki charged finger, she poked the hanyou in the chest.

“She. Is. Coming.” With a last jab Inu Yasha fell to the ground. She threw her dark obsidian locks over her shoulder and stomped onto the Shrine grounds. Sugumi loomed over his son.

“I like her temper.” His amber eyes watched her small form. “It's what he needs.”

“He isn't getting her!” Inu Yasha pouted.

“Alright! I am ready!” Sango came out of the house with her gun on her hip and a giant bone boomerang on her back.

*Thank Kami she is on our side.* Kaelas thought.

*The vampires come.* Sesshomaru's silky voice ran through his head.

*They know.* Kaelas nodded.

*The want my miko.* the demon lord growled.

*They can't have her.* Kaelas snarled causing Sugumi to look down at he creature in question.

“Are you guys coming or what?” Kagome shouted from the edge of the woods. Sango stood next to her poised and ready. Inu Yasha let out a `feh' before stomping his way over. Sugumi looked down at Kaelas. He shifted the two blades on his hip.

Tokijin.

Tensaiga.

The Western Lord may walk the lands yet again.

Raven watched the group walking through the woods surrounding the shrine. She scowled. Naraku was in the clearing up ahead. She could not allow any harm to come to the miko. It was her duty to keep the hanyou from gaining anymore power. She would have to show herself to the miko. Hopefully she could sneak them around Naraku and into the tomb.

“What the fuck?” InuYasha demanded as a figure dropped before them. His clawed hand immediately went to his legendary fang which he had not withdrew from its scabbard for several hundred years, since his brother was sealed.

The figure bowed politely, their long dark locks falling over their shoulder as they rose to stab the group with piercing dark eyes.

“I am Raven.” The figure's voice rolled through the clearing. “I am here to lead you to the tomb.”

“Why the hell would you want to do that?” InuYasha demanded as he stormed up to the female. Raven watched him with impassive eyes as he towered before her.

“The hanyou Naraku seeks to release the Demon Lord for his own uses. If he succeeds, chaos will spread. I have already loosened as much of the sealing spell as I can. The rest must be done by a miko.” Her dark eyes darted to Kagome who blushed in response. “She knows what must be done.”

“We are not releasing that bastard!” InuYasha snapped at her. Raven let out a sigh as she blew a piece of her hair out of her face.

“You are a fool.” Raven hissed at him causing InuYasha to step back as her dark eyes turned black.

“She is a vampire.” Sugumi spoke softly. Kagome gripped his arm as she felt the vampiress dark power roll around the clearing before it withdrew.

“Forgive me.” Raven whispered. “I must get you to the tomb before Naraku finds you. He seeks your miko.”

“Me?” Kagome demanded as she was taken by the arm by the vampiress.

“Yes. The last miko did not last long. The one who probably could have dropped the sealing spells was turned. She is dark now. There is no hope for her soul; it is no longer with her.” Raven looked at the miko from the corner of her eye. “Do not fear the Demon Lord.”

“What makes you think I do?” Kagome demanded. Raven laughed softly as the group weaved through the trees.

“I can feel it in your aura.” Raven said softly. Kaelas trotted along side the vampiress as they neared a slight ridge in the ground. The group came to a halt as the vampiress circled the ridge. Her eyes went back to the obsidian color as her hair lifted slightly in an unseen breeze. Sugumi watched in silent awe as the ground gave a silent lurch. As it dead a thundering roar echoed around them causing all to turn to look back the way they had come.

“Quickly.” Raven said as she ushered them down the narrow crevice. “Naraku knows of my betrayal. He will come.”

“What do you mean `betrayal'?” Sango asked as Raven helped her down.

“It was necessary to work along side the hanyou to discover his exact plans.” Sango's own dark eyes locked with the vampiress. “You must have faith in me.” Sango didn't reply but continued down into the crevice. Sugumi was the last standing before the vampiress.

“You will go before me.” He stated in a calm voice. Raven shook her head.

“I must reseal the crevice, if not Naraku will reach your companions quicker. Release your son, my lord.” Raven gave a slight bow as she gave a not to nice shove to the former youkai lord. Sugumi grunted as he was slammed into the crevice. Stupid stubborn female, was his last thought as the crevice was sealed. He had to admit, the woman had gall. He could admire that.

Raven released a sigh as she watched the crevice seal. Hopefully they could shut the hanyou up enough to release the Demon Lord. In the mean time she would hold Naraku off for as long as possible.

The vampiress gave her wrist a flick as a long blade appeared in her hand. She gave it a small twirl, smiling seductively as it hissed through the air. As Naraku's minions crashed through the tree line they were met with a wall of fury from a lone vampiress.

“Raven, you little bitch.” Naraku's crimson eyes narrowed on the female blocking his path to the tomb. Raven sneered as she shifted her blade before her, the moonlight winking from its edge as she faced the hanyou.

“You will not touch the miko.” Raven's husky voice sent shivers down their spines as the first low vampires launched himself towards her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Within the tomb ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kagome felt her way along rough walls as she trailed behind InuYasha. His youkai eyes were much better in finding their way through the labyrinth of passages.

“She could have at least given directions.” Kagome mumbled to herself as she pulled her jacket closer. It felt like the temperature kept dropping as they sank further into the tomb. Kaelas bumped her hand in comfort as he felt Kagome shiver. The group of companions could feel the dark aura permeating the walls around them.

“We grow closer.” Sugumi's rich voice floated to Kagome's ears in the darkness.

“Feh, all of you act like we are here to save the bastard.” InuYasha snapped just as a bright light flared to life before them. His arm immediately pushed Kagome behind him as their way was lit with torches.

“Those would have been useful earlier.” Sango mumbled as she released Kagome's jacket from her grip. Kagome nodded her head, her obsidian locks bouncing.

“Look.” Her voice came out stronger than what she felt as she saw the large wooden doors just ahead of them. The entire place screamed theatrical and she had to remind herself that she was in no movie. There were demons and vampires outside wanting her blood. And a demon vampire sealed within that room wanting her mind, body, and soul.

InuYasha trudged forward with Kaelas directly on his heels as he marched towards the doors. He growled as he could feel his brother near by as he pushed the doors. He gave a grunt as they moved in slowly. Taking a step back he shoved again as the doors burst forth.

Sango waved her hand before her as the dust flew up from the floor. Black candle wax surrounded the group as they quietly entered the chambers with black polished walls. The candles glowed faintly around them will the smell of incense floated through their nostrils.

“Feh.” InuYasha mumbled as his amber eyes narrowed on the back sarcophagus towards the back.

“Indeed.” A dark voice murmured behind them. The room's occupants whirled around to face their enemy. His crimson eyes narrowed in on Kagome as she took an uneasy step back. Kaelas growl echoed through the room as they took in their situation.

“You must be Naraku.” Sugumi said in a chilly voice, quiet peeved that the hanyou managed to sneak in behind them.

“Yes.” Naraku purred as his eyes shamelessly roamed the miko's body. Kagome gave a violent shiver as her hand clench the gun at her side. “How I have waited for you my little miko.”

“She's not yours!” InuYasha snapped at him. “What the hell happened to that damn vampiress?”

“Raven?” Naraku snorted. “She may have killed all my servants but she was properly disposed of. No one betrays me.” Kagome's hand covered her mouth. She may not have known the vampiress but she had helped them get this far.

“You are a cold hearted bastard, Naraku.” Sugumi said. Naraku laughed.

“Perhaps. But you have not seen all of what I am capable of.” Naraku sneered as a few of his minions appeared about the room.

“Shadow youkai!” Sango snapped as she brought out her large youkai bone weapon.

“Get me the miko.” Naraku snapped. Sugumi growled as he lunged at the hanyou. InuYasha moved to join his father when something moved in his path. He stumbled back as he looked at his old partner.

“Kikyo?” InuYasha whispered. She gave a dark smile as her hand splayed upon his chest.

“InuYasha.” Her voice sent a violent chill down his spine. “You have come to save me.”

“What has the bastard down to you?” he asked as she shook her head.

“Nothing I can't handle.” She hissed as the hand she held upon his chest tore through his flesh. InuYasha let out a violent snarl as he pulled himself away, his hand covering his gapping wound.

“InuYasha!” Kagome's voice called to him from somewhere behind him.

“Have they replaced me already?” Kikyo sneered. “I hate when that damn vampiress is right. No matter now, she is good as dead.” Kikyo flashed her fangs at Kagome who clutched Kaelas closer as her sapphire eyes locked on the dead miko.

“You have sold your soul.” Kagome said sadly. Kikyo snapped her fangs at her.

“I am more powerful than ever, you worthless bitch.” Kikyo snapped as she pushed past InuYasha to get to Kagome.

“Oh no you don't.” Kikyo was savagely thrown across the chamber as a torn and battered Raven stepped before Kagome. Kagome gasped and stepped back away from the bleeding vampiress. “You will not touch the miko.”

“You are suppose to be dead.” Kikyo hissed as she stood up.

“Help your sire with the hanyou.” Raven's eyes never left the dead miko as she addressed InuYasha.

“But…” he began before Raven cut him off.

“Go. There is no help for her. She is not the woman you knew before. She is no longer your partner. Go help your father.” InuYasha grumbled at being ordered.

“Fine. But don't you dare release that damn half brother of mine.” He snapped as he charged forth to join the fray against Naraku. Raven growled as she was left with Kikyo.

“I have been wanting to spear your fat hide on my blade for a long time now.” Raven hissed at the miko. Kikyo blanched.

“I am not fat.” She snapped as she curled her fingers into claws as she swiped at the vampiress. Raven dodged but Kagome quickly noticed that she was favoring one leg; she could see the white bone showing through the other.

Naraku flung the two inus from him as his crimson eyes narrowed on the miko. Kikyo was engaged with that damn vampiress. Why won't the bitch just stay dead! He demanded to himself as he stalked forth. His minions closed in around him to keep Sugumi and InuYasha from intruding.

Kagome saw where he was heading and back away from him only to have her back connect with something hard. Kaelas lunged before her, his fangs bore at the approaching hanyou.

“Fool.” Naraku hissed as slimy tentacle like appendages lurched from his back and towards the wolf. “You cannot keep me from my goal.” One of the tentacles tore through Kaelas's thick fur as the canine let out a yelp. Kagome cried out at him as he watched his body being thrown across the chamber to connect heavily with a wall.

She was brought back to reality when Naraku's clammy hand wrapped around her delicate throat. Her own hands immedialty wrapped around the appendage as she was lifted off her feet, her sapphire eyes widening as she lost her breath.

“So beautiful.” Naraku murmured as he brought her closer to him. His nose buried itself with her wavy locks and he inhaled.

“Back off!” Raven hissed as her fist slammed into the side of his face. Naraku stumbled, dropping Kagome her scurried back as he turned towards the vampiress.

“Conniving bitch!” he hissed as he sent one of his tentacles through her gut. She let out a guttural moan as the appendage wiggled its way from her body. She hit her knees as she leaned over, her breathing heavy as she forced her body to recover quickly from the blow. InuYasha saw the vampiress hit her knees and tore down the youkai blocking his way with his claws. He had to reach Kagome and quickly.

“Watch where you throw that thing, woman!” Sugumi snapped as the boomerang weapon came awfully close to his head.

“Then keep moving!” Sango snapped as she tore her way through the ranks of youkai. Kikyo stumbled from her place where Raven had implanted her and quickly threw up a dark barrier to keep them from getting any closer.

“Kikyo! Why?” InuYasha demanded as he banged against the barrier. She said nothing as she breathed heavily, her empty eyes darting to Naraku who was closing in on the miko, Kagome.

“Stay away from me.” Kagome said as she withdrew her gun.

“That thing will not harm me.” Naraku hissed as it was rudely snapped form her hand causing her shoulder to dislocate. Kagome cried out as she clutched her shoulder, Naraku's bulking form pinning her to the hard surface behind her. His vile tongue reached out a trailed up her neck where he panted in her ear. “You taste divine.”

“Don't touch me!” Kagome hissed as her eyes turned a light shade of blue. Her body swirled with her miko ki as Naraku lurched back, his skin tingling from her power. He quickly backhanded her, knocking the miko into the floor.

Kagome gave a groan as her head hit the floor. The room spinning as she was rudely yanked from the floor by her hair.

A deafening roar shook the chambers as the floor lurched beneath all their feet. Kikyo's barrier fell as InuYasha tore the fang from his side, watching through half lidded eyes as the fang took on its mighty glory. She stumbled back as he approached her.

Naraku's eyes were glued to a placed beyond where Kagome could see as she tried to get her hair out of his grasp, as suddenly as the roar started it stopped with Naraku being thrown across the chamber and into a wall. Kagome felt her self being pulled back against something hard as an iron like band wrapped around her waist. She glanced down to see a pale arm graced with two magenta stripes latched around her. Out of the corner of her eye, hair like moonbeams spilled over her shoulder as she felt breath upon her neck.

She gulped, not wanting to know yet knowing all the same who kept her firmly within their grasp. InuYasha incessant cursing slowly came to her as she stiffened.

“Hello, tenshi.” A silkly voice murmured in her ear as she swallowed, hard.
