A/N: Thank you to all of you for your sincere messages. My room mate is in a much better condition and we all can breathe much easier. The urge to release frustration has been great for me lately, and what better way then through my writing? I have gone through all previous chapters and done a lot of rework. Nothing major, mostly appearance and spelling things. One again, thank you everyone. You have no idea how much my room mate and I appreciated everything.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the InuYasha characters, but all vampire characters are so mine.

Chapter 9: Bath Time

Kagome huffed in irritation as she stood in the open doorway looking up at the night sky. She knew it was for the best that they all remained together until something could be done about Naraku. But she just wasn't use to being ordered around. She had been alone for so long that she was confused, not only about things going on, but her developing feelings for Sesshomaru.

She knew nothing about him except that he could be irritating as hell one moment and sinfully sexy the next. She could not remember how long the dreams had been occurring. Things had been muddled at first, flashes of things and brief caresses. As time wore on it became clearer, maybe a hand or some of his hair.

None of this meant she was going to jump into the bed with the male. She had morals. It was just so damn hard when every fiber of her soul called out to him. It was like she had known him her entire life. What did she really know of him? Like what was his favorite color, if he even had one or the things he liked to do in his spare time, except drink blood.

Then there was the whole vampire issue. All her life, she never saw a problem between humans, hanyou, and youkai. Suddenly, she found herself thrust in a completely different world with vampires. She could still easily accept them, the vampiress Raven making a good friend already.

She could never hate Sesshomaru for being what he was. He was turned against his will and she had no right to hold it against him.

Kagome sighed. She was just so confused.

*You are troubled.* Kaelas appeared next to her. Kagome smiled faintly as she turned from the open door way and looked down on the wolf next to her.

“I'm just thinking about things.” Kagome said softly. Kaelas cocked his head at her, his pale blue eyes searching.

*You fear him?* he asked her. She shook her head, her ebony locks moving around her.

“I just don't understand him.” Kagome confessed. “And that's what scares me. I don't know what to expect.”

“Feh, no one understands the bastard.” InuYasha appeared in the open foyer. Kagome huffed in irritation as she shut the front door. The urge to find female company and rant about males was becoming strong.

“You're his brother, are you telling me you know nothing about him?” she asked him, a dark brow rose in question. InuYasha looked at her.

“Kagome.” He said quietly as he stepped closer. He heaved a large mental sigh, knowing that no matter what he couldn't step between her and his brother. “I'm serious in saying no one understands or knows him. He was aloof and cold to people. Its just how he's always been.”

“He doesn't seem that way to me.” Kagome frowned. InuYasha chuckled.

“I will admit he's done a complete turn about with you around. Maybe there's hope for the bastard after all.”

“You continue to call me a bastard, InuYasha. But allow to me tell you that Father and my mother were very much mated before I was born.” Sesshomaru appeared almost from thin air causing Kagome to jump. With all the power he had, she was still finding it hard to sense him.

“Whatever.” InuYasha replied as he looked away. Sesshomaru sighed in response before passing by his brother and stopping before the miko. Kagome looked up at him from beneath her bangs, still no forgetting the confrontation in the kitchen earlier.

“I must leave briefly.” He told her. She frowned, her heart dropping a little at his announcement.

“Leave?” she felt foolish.

“Yes.” He said, one of his hands reaching for her. He allowed himself the pleasure of running her lush locks through his fingers. “I must…feed.”

“Oh.” Kagome blushed. She almost forgot. He smirked at her. “Be careful.”

“You worry for me?” he grinned. Kagome clenched her teeth at his arrogance. She was trying to be nice and he had to go and tick her off.

“Why you insufferable jerk…” she trailed off as he grabbed her chin and kissed her. She felt her toes curl at the feel of his warm lips trailing against her mouth. The softest caress of his tongue opened her to him. He swept within her cavern, devouring her unique taste. Her own little tongue came up to meet him and he felt a building growl erupt in his throat followed by a tiny moan from her.

“You two are making me sick!” InuYasha gagged behind them. Kagome pulled away from Sesshomaru, wondering what in the world had overcome her. Sesshomaru sighed in irritation.

“Forgive, brother. I do not know how I forgot your sickening stench.” He answered, his golden eyes glaring at the hanyou.

“Feh, say that to my face, bastard!” InuYasha growled.

“I am standing before you now, InuYasha. Do you need me to repeat it slower to you?”

“Enough!” Kagome snapped causing two different pairs of gold eyes to look at her. She could feel Kaelas's amusement as he pressed against the back of her legs. “Stupid males.” She turned on her heel and left the foyer. They watched her go, her grumblings making both of them smirk.

“Weren't you going somewhere?” InuYasha asked his brother. Sesshomaru rolled his eyes in response, inwardly shocked at how open he had become since his confinement.

“You will protect her.” It wasn't a question and they both knew it.

“I've been doing it along.” InuYasha snorted. Sesshomaru gave him a look that told him exactly what he thought of his `protection'. “Just get going already!” Sesshomaru allowed a smirk to come through his normally cold exterior before disappearing into the night.

InuYasha watched him go. He marveled at the little things that had changed in his older brother. But the guy was still an ass.

“Hope he gets hit by a car.” He grumbled as he closed the door.

Kagome walked down the hallway, her mumblings not at all lost on the wolf. Kaelas kept his silence, knowing that to say something might set her off and she would want to leave his company. He was a male still after all and she had made it quite clear she was becoming fed up with his `gender'.

Sugimi stepped from an open door way and smiled in their direction. He closed the door after him and moved towards them.

“Kagome, I trust you are enjoying your stay?” he asked her. Kagome snorted at him before remembering her manners.

“I am so sorry…” he cut her off.

“Don't even think of calling me anything but Sugimi. I told you that I am no longer the Western Lord. Speaking of which, have you seen my eldest?” he didn't miss the blush that crossed her face as the mention of Sesshomaru.

“Uh…he went…out.” She stammered. He raised a brow at her, his eyes dancing in delight.

“I see.” He answered. “Was there anything that you needed?” Kagome thought a moment before looking down at Kaelas, a sudden thought coming to her.

“Now that I think about it…” she began as Kaelas began to back away. He didn't like the evil gleam in her sapphire eyes. Just because all the other males ticked her off didn't mean she had to take her frustrations out of him.

Raven's dark head was barely visible above the pile of ancient texts and scrolls. Her nose was pressed close to a worn page, her dark eyes narrowed as she tried to read the fading print. Stefan watched her in amusement. He had chosen to remain down in the alcoves with her as she searched through things. It was a dreary place in his opinion; they had not had the chance to install modern electricity beneath the manor so the place was very dark. He frowned at the flickering torches and candles around them.

“If you get any closer, you'll go cross eyed.” He said to her. He watched in amusement as she bolted up at his voice. She blinked several times as if to bring him into focus.

“Yeah? And what do the three of you know?” she asked with a soft smile. He shook his head at her remark, leaning against a wall and crossing his arms across his chest.

“The flickering light is not helping you any.” He remarked to her. She groaned and rubbed the base of her palm against her dark eyes.

“I know, but we can't chance damaging things by taking them into direct light.” She frowned as she looked around. “Even if they brought light down here it would still have to be dim.” Stefan inwardly agreed with her intellect, it was one of the many things that drew him to her.

“Have you found anything useful?” he inquired as he approached her. He came and leaned over her seated place at the table. She shook her head at him.

“No more than I already knew. But there is still so much more to go through.” She sighed before releasing a delicate yawn. He could sense her fatigue about her and wondered if she had been taking proper care of herself.

“I have not seen you feed tonight.” He spoke softly next to her. She tilted her head back, her dark eyes looking up at him in question. Her throat was bared to his gaze, the milky skin looking delicious in the flickering light.

“I'm fine.” She answered quickly, turning away from his smoldering gaze. He frowned at her, knowing it was going to be the response he got from her. She just wasn't trusting around others, especially males. That damn Xerxes was to blame for all of this.

“You do not have enough time to leave the manor to feed, dawn approaches.” He sat on the table, his thigh brushing her arm. She blushed; it was painfully obviously on her pale features. She looked back up at him once she was sure she had her face under control.

“I am fine, Stefan.” She said softly. He growled at her causing her to lean back.

“You should not lie, Raven. It is not becoming.”

“I can take care of myself!”

“And a wonderful job you have been doing.” He said sarcastically. She stiffened at the insult, her dark eyes narrowing at him.

“And what do you suggest I do?” she said through clenched teeth. He motioned her towards him, pulling her to stand between his legs when she refused to move closer to him.

“You will take blood from me.” He answered her, pulling her back to him when she recoiled from him.

“No!” she gasped out as he met her wild eyes.

“I know you are not comfortable with these things, Raven. But my blood is stronger and it will heal any injuries you still hold and sustain you.” His blue eyes held hers, silently asking her to trust him in this.

Raven looked at him. He wasn't asking for much, it was considered the highest honor to take blood from an Elder. It required a lot of trust on her part though. Could she do it?

She looked away from him, her thoughts jumbled. If she was going to put her trust in him, she would do it fully. Stefan had never harmed her in the past, regardless of their petty squabbles.

“No…” she looked up at him, her dark eyes steely in their determination. “If you do this, it will go both ways.”

“You would willingly start a bond with me?” he asked in shock, his blue eyes wide. Raven watched a moment longer before nodding.

“It's only right. I…I want to trust you.” She said quietly. Stefan cupped her cheeks, watching the light dance across her face. She looked so much older in the candle light, but she was still so young in vampire terms.

He tilted her head back further, his breath becoming heavy with the thought of sinking his fangs in her delicate skin. He ran his nose along the side of her face, his thumbs rubbing her cheeks to calm her as she jolted as his touch.

“Trust me, Raven.” He whispered as he trailed his lips down her neck, “Trust me.” His tongue slipped out to lave her skin, pressing down to feel the thundering vein beneath her flesh. He could hear her panting in his ear as his fangs bore down on her, breaking through her flesh and allowing her blood to fill his mouth.

She gasped at the sensation, her body giving a violent jerk as her head fell back further. Her hands clenched his hair, her dark eyes turning black as her blood beast rose within her. Raven's own fangs bore down upon him, breaking through skin and allowing his ancient blood to fill her.

It was like a kick in the gut, his strength and power rushing through her body. She jerked violently again in his grasp, feeling everything that was Stefan become a part of her.

Stefan pulled her closer; groaning at the taste of what was purely Raven. He could feel her subconsciously merge within him. It was probably the closest thing to a soul bond, the exchanging of blood. It entwined the blood beasts, allowing mind links from larges distances and the advantage of feeling emotions from the other person. They would know where the other was at all times and it would remain that way, if the bond was reinforced often enough.

The moment he felt her fangs retract; Stefan forced himself to pull back. His licked the bite marks tenderly, her body still trembling in his hold. He held her close to him, savoring the contact as much as he enjoyed the new closeness shared with her. It wasn't exactly what he wanted, he much rather have her as his mate. But this was just a small step towards that, and an even bigger one getting her away from Xerxes.

Kagome grinned evilly as she slowly crawled on her belly across the room. She was trying to be quiet but it was so hard. A snort escaped her as she tried to curb her giggles. The huddled ball of white fur bolted upright at her snort. She froze where she was, hoping he hadn't sensed her.

It bolted, moving quickly past her and to the door. Kagome leapt to her feet as quick as she could, scrambling across the floor after her victim.

The bedroom door flew open, the light from the hallway fixtures blinding her momentarily. She heard the yelp of her victim causing her to blink.

Kaelas had crashed into Sesshomaru's legs, much to the demon lord's chagrin, he had the wolf by the collar…literally. Kagome laughed hysterically, especially when Sesshomaru raised a brow at her.

*Let me go! She's crazy!* Kaelas tugged against his master but to no avail. He slumped defeated against his legs, his blue eyes wary as they watched Kagome. She cooed in response before making her way to the pair.

“What are you doing, tenshi?” he asked her. She blushed at the pet name before controlling herself.

“I was trying to give him a bath!” she said in her defense. Kaelas whimpered in response. Sesshomaru looked amused.

“A bath?” he repeated. Kagome nodded, her sapphire eyes twinkling in delight.

“It was either him or InuYasha. Personally, I would choose Kaelas since he seems to be making a habit of getting in the bed with me.” Sesshomaru silently agreed. Not only would he have to dismember his brother if he allowed Kagome to wash him, but also destroy him for crawling in bed with her.

“He could use a bath.” Sesshomaru said to himself as he looked down at the horrified wolf.

*Traitor!* Kaelas growled in his mind. Kagome smiled brightly at the two before making her way to the bathroom where she had already ran the water. Sesshomaru grinned at the thought of spending some time with her as he dragged the reluctant Kaelas along.

“It's not that bad…” Kagome grunted as she tried pushing Kaelas in the large tub. The wolf whined at her, straining against her. She huffed in frustration, finally looking at the Immortal Vampire behind her. He raised a brow, waiting for her to come out and ask for his help. “You're impossible.” She grumbled at him. He smirked before grabbing Kaelas by the scruff of his neck and tossing him into the water.

The tidal wave of water was expected by him, but obviously not by Kagome as she was soaked in the down pour. She sputtered at him as Kaelas sat silently in dejection, his heavy fur matted to him.

“You could have warned me!” Kagome shrieked. Sesshomaru chuckled at her.

“What fun would there be in that?” he asked her. Kagome grumbled under her breath about males before grabbing the shampoo and turning to Kaelas. It was a good thing she did or she would have seen what her soaked state did to him.

Her clothes meld to her curves, displaying her shapely figure to his questing eyes. Yes, assisting her in giving Kaelas a bath was a fine idea. He was so lost in his musings, mostly about her delightful behind; he didn't see the spray of water coming to him till it was too late.

He glared at the culprit through his wet bangs.

“Opps?” Kagome said, as she hid the removable shower head behind her. Kaelas snorted from his place in the water. Sesshomaru continued to glare at her, the feel of his clothes sticking to his skin becoming uncomfortable. She started to squirm under his intense stare. “Uh…Sesshomaru?” He pounced at her. She squealed as she tried to scramble away but not quick enough. He pinned her against him, dragging her back to the bath tub.

“Tsk tsk.” He whispered in her ear. “She shouldn't start things you don't intend to finish.” He grabbed the shower head from where it had been dropped in her haste.

“You wouldn't dare.” Kagome glared at him. He smirked before dousing her with cold water. She squealed. He laughed the sound echoing in the room along with her chiming laughter. He couldn't remember the last time he laughed.

Kaelas ignored the two as he climbed from the tub. He waited till they were fully distracted before drying himself like any canine would do.

“Kaelas!” their cries brought a wolfish grin to his face before he trotted from the room, leaving a very soaked pair behind. Kagome blushed at her compromising position with the demon lord. She had gotten carried away with herself, but she found it easy to be around him. He had a natural playful side to him that she liked.

When he stood to get some towels she noticed that wasn't the only nice side to him. Damn, the guy had a nice ass.

Sango muffled a yawn as she headed into the precinct to report to Kaede since Kagome wasn't allowed to leave the manor. She completely ignored Miroku who pouted at her. She tapped on the closed door, waiting for the muffled replied.

“Sango, how have you been?” Kaede asked her. Sango yawned again before anwswering.

“Forgive me, Captain. I've come to report in Kagome's place.” She said as she collapsed in a chair. Kaede said nothing as she leaned back in her chair and motioned for her detective to continue. “InuYasha, Kagome, and I along with InuYasha's father were lead to the tomb by a female vampire. There we encountered a hanyou who goes by the name Naraku.”

“Naraku? I have heard many things of him.” Kaede murmured as she contemplated this turn of events. “And what of the vampire lord?”

“Uh…well, that's one of the reasons Kagome couldn't make it. He's taken a liking to Kagome.”

“Who's taken a liking to our miko?” Miroku asked as he came in with a cup of coffee. He ran it under Sango's nose, who followed the cup as it was pulled away.

“He was released?” Kaede said in shock. Miroku stopped teasing Sango to look at Kaede in question. Sango cried out in success as she snatched the coffee away to take a sip. She gave a delightful murmur as she settled back, mumbling something that clearly sounded like `..better than sex.' Miroku pouted.

“You wound me, dearest Sango!” he kneeled before her. “A cup of such pitiful substance could not compare to a bout in the sack with me.”

“Can it houshi.” Sango grumbled. “I'm really not in the mood right now.”

“So Lord Sesshomaru walks the earth again?” Kaede stood up as she watched the two bicker. Sango pulled away from Miroku, the houshi detective now sporting a red handprint on his cheek.

“Yes.” Sango answered. Miroku turned serious.

“The Western Taiyoukai? What about him?” he asked. Kaede looked at him.

“You have heard the rumors of his demise, yes?” she asked him.

“Of course, what respectable houshi hasn't? He was sealed away beneath the earth and a shrine built upon his tomb.”

“Kagome's shrine.” Sango yawned. “And what a male he was. I swear if he wasn't making eyes at Kagome…”

“Sango!” Miroku cried out. She laughed softly, too tired to full enjoyment in the detectives horror.

“I need to return. We are respecting a report back from Raven on something.”

“Who is this Raven?” Kaede asked as she resumed her seat.

“She was the female vampire who led us into the tomb. She had been working undercover with Naraku for the vampires for a while.” Kaede contemplated this change of facts for a moment.

“I would like to met with Lord Sesshomaru and the vampiress, Raven.” She said. Sango shrugged.

“I will talk to them when I get back to the Taisho manor.” Kaede nodded and dismissed her.

“Give my regards to Kagome.” She said as Sango left. Miroku watched her go with a thoughtful look on his face. “Any luck finding the rat?”

“No, he's a sneaky one.” Miroku said as he looked at the captain. “But he can't hide his trail much longer.”

“I will call in a technician to look into the database. He may be able to find who is hacking into the miko files.”

“Of course, captain, whatever you think is best.” Miroku answered before he too was dismissed. Kaede sighed into her empty office. She was getting too old for this shit.
