Now
Kagome opened Kouga’s door, with little help from him. She dragged him up the stairs to his room and helped him drop to the bed. He grabbed her hand as she moved to leave. She looked back at him, he had a goofy smile plastered to his face.
“Good night Kouga.” She said forcefully, wriggling her hand away from him.
“G’Night Kagammie.” He smiled lazily at her. She rolled her eyes and he passed out. She sighed and left him.

“Kagome,”
“Hi Kouga.” She said into the phone.
“Not so loud.” He whined.
“It’s not my fault you drank too much.” She scoffed.
“I did not.” He muttered. “Anyway, the reason I’m calling is, we didn’t really get to finish our date.”
“Sure we did.” Kagome said, getting into her car. She was leaving to get groceries (Inuyasha had eaten all of her food).
“I’d like to apologize for my behaviour and take you out.” Kagome was silent for a little while. She didn’t really like going out anymore. “Or, we can stay in and get take out.” He smiled on the other end though she couldn’t see it.
“Fine. But not for a few days. I have to finish a paper and I’m pretty busy with work.”
“Okay. You tell me when.” He waited, semi-patiently.
“I’ll check my calendar and call you later.” She said.
“Okay.”
“I’ll talk to you later.”
“Bye Kagome.”
“Bye Kouga.” She hung up and drove off.

Kagome dropped the bags on the counter. She hadn’t meant to buy so much, she was just so hungry when she went shopping. She shook her head. Inuyasha would eat it. She unpacked the things that had to go in the refrigerator and freezer. Then she unpacked the boxed goods. Finally, putting the fruit in a bowl on the counter. She grabbed her mail keys and went back down to the apartment lobby to get her mail. She started looking at her mail as she walked into her apartment.
She threw the bills on the counter and the junk mail in the trash. Looking at her calendar she realized her paper was due in four days, and she had to work straight out for the next two weeks. Tonight was her last night off. She went into the living room and turned on her laptop. She had to finish that paper.
**
Kagome called Inuyasha later that night, having promised to call him the next day.
She was talking about what Kouga had proposed and for the first time, in nearly ten years of knowing him, Inuyasha told her not to do something.
“Don’t go out with him again Kagome.” He said.
“What?” She asked.
“He’s not right for you. You know I want you to be happy, but your not going to find happiness with him.”
“I don’t think you have any right to tell me who I can and cannot date.” Kagome said, feeling a little annoyed that he was ordering her around. Then again, she felt happy too, that he finally told her that he didn’t want her to date Kouga.
“I know I can’t. I’m just . . . he’s not . . . just don’t date him. Anyone but him.”
“Well, I have to go.” Kagome said suddenly. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“I . . .” he sighed. “Fine. Bye Kags.”
“Bye Yash.”
