Kagome paced back and forth across her living room. It was a lot smaller than she thought on the twelfth time around it. Finally she got annoyed and sat down. The trial was the next day. She couldn't sleep. She hadn't eaten in almost a week. Inuyasha called her twice a day. She had scheduled her day around when he would call.
The phone rang, nearly scaring her to death. She jumped up off the couch and went to the phone. She checked the caller ID, to see that it was Sango. She closed her eyes and answered. "Hello."
"Couldn't sleep either?" She said.
"No." Kagome went to the kitchen to make tea.
"It'll be okay though ya know?"
"Convincing me or yourself?"
"Both probably."
"That's what I thought." Kagome released a deep breath and nearly collapsed on the floor. "He's right. They're not going to pass him. He's in so much trouble." She sobbed into the phone.
"I know Kagome. It's something we have to deal with. It'll work out for the best I'm sure." On the other end Sango had her doubts. She didn't want Inuyasha to be in trouble either; but, she didn't want to make Kagome feel any worse.
"It's my fault too. That makes things even harder than they would have been." Kagome took the tea kettle off the stove and poured the hot water. "We'll just have to see what happens."
"Yeah. I'm sure fate wouldn't be so cruel. Everything will be fine."
"Yeah."
"I should let you go though. You need sleep, and I should try to sleep too."
"Good point. I'll call you in the morning. We can go together." Sango said.
"Okay. Bye Song. Thanks for everything."
"No problem. It'll be okay." Kagome smiled faintly. "Bye Kags."
Kagome hung up the phone and ignored her tea. She went to her room and lay on the bed. Her eyes were wide open and she stared at the ceiling. She remained that way until morning.

"Presenting the honorable Judge Naraku. Arise." The court did as instructed. "Case number seven twenty two; Kurma, Inuyasha."
"Be seated." The judge said. They obeyed.
Kagome sat directly behind Inuyasha, who sat next to his lawyer; still in shackles.
"Okay, defense, what've ya got?"
"Simple your honor." Inuyasha's lawyer, Myoga, stood up. "My client was simply protecting this young woman. It was merely self defense."
"Yes. However, according to the plaintiff, the defendant tried to harm him long after the young girl was safe."
"This is a misstatement your honor."
"Well, given the boys heritage, I'm not sure why we're even in this courtroom." The Judge was human, but he looked as though he might have some demon in him. Making him a Hanyou.
‘Why isn’t he more sympathetic?’ Kagome thought.
"What does that mean?!" Kagome stood up. "Your honour, Inuyasha is not a bad person! How could you disregard his kind actions and be so cruel simply because he's a Hanyou? Especially since you’re one too!" The Courtroom ‘Ooo’ed’ and the Judge became visibly angry.
"Miss, you are out of order. One more outburst and you will be removed from this courtroom."
Kagome sat back down but was still very angry.
“Does the defense have anything to say?” The Judge asked, looking contemptuously at Kagome.
“Only, your Honour, that I pray this heathen is given the punishment he deserves.” Kouga’s lawyer bowed and sat back down.
“Well, you’ll get your wish counselor. It’s very simple. This Hanyou committed a crime, attempted murder. He will receive lethal injection at noon two weeks from today.” The judge hit the hammer on the piece of wood and left the room.
“NO!” Kagome screamed. “This isn’t right!” She ran to Inuyasha, though she wasn’t suppose to, and she hugged him. “This is wrong.” She whispered.
“I know Kagome.” He said back. “It’s been a fun ride.” He smiled at her as she pulled away. “Please don’t cry for me. Everything will be okay.” He smiled at her. He was being much stronger than he felt inside.
“I’m going to save you this time.” The officer took Inuyasha by the shoulder and pulled him away. “I promise!!”
“I love you Kagome.” His words floated on the air as though he had breathed them.
“I love you.” Sango hugged Kagome and they left together.

“I’ve got to do something. I promised I would save him. I have to get him out of this. I have to.”
Kagome sat in Sesshomaru’s living room. She was surrounded by Miroku, Sesshomaru, Kagura, Rin, and Sango.
“But what are you going to do Kagome? Break him out?” Sango asked.
“I have to. What else is there to do?”
“I forbid it Kagome.” Sesshomaru spoke up for the first time.
“What?” Kagome asked. “He’s your brother! Of all people I would expect you to be the most upset.”
“I am terribly grieved by what has happened. The simple fact is that breaking him out would only cause more problems. Besides, if he wanted to get out, he could do so on his own.”
“Maybe not.” Kagome argued.
“Come on Miroku let’s go get tea.” Sango looked pointedly at her boyfriend.
“Oh, right wicked thirsty.” He smiled as he stood up. “Mrs. Kurma if you would be so kind as to assist us.”
“Oh! Yes of course.” Kagura stood up and looked at her daughter. “Rin.”
“Coming.”
Kagome stood next to Sesshomaru as they stared each other down, neither willing to back down (and apparently not noticing the lack of people in the room).
"Kagome, I made a promise to my brother to keep you safe. I intend to keep that promise and I can't have you risking both your hides. What you are talking about is reckless and no need to mention stupid."
"I DON'T CARE SESSHOMARU! I love him! And I made a promise too! A promise that I would get him out of there. And I don't intend to break that promise. If the courts are going to be unjust then I have to take matters into my own hands."
"Well I'm not breaking mine either. I'm keeping you safe."
"Then help me."

I loved this chapter actually. . . hehehe, torturing characters is good! *malicious grin *
Inuyasha: She’s gone mental Anubis has.
Harry Potter: Since when do you talk like Ron?
Inuyasha: What are you doing in MY fanfic!? Get your own!!
HP: I have my own thanks.
Inuyasha: Jerk!
HP: Fine. Hermione and I will just go off by ourselves.
Inu: Wait, the hot chick’s with you? All right!
Kagome: JERK! *hits Inuyasha on the head*
Hermione: I’m hot?! * blush *
Ron: She’s mine bitch! *to Inuyasha *
Inu: I could so take you! *keh*
*cat noises and clawing heard in background *
HP: What about me? * cries and runs off*
Hermione: Honestly. Come on Kagome
Kagome: Right! * smile *
