Chapter Twenty: Pay Back Part 1

“Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Mizu, Kaede and Myoga along with Kirara are all in what us Inu Yokai call a pack. I happened to form it by accepting you to our group.” InuYasha told all that were seated around the cooking fire. Miroku looked at Sango and Sango looked at InuYasha.

“How would you not know you formed a pack?” Kagome asked, breaking the silence.

“Because he didn’t choose a mate, a female to become alpha alongside him.” Shippo spoke up from InuYasha’s lap.

“Is that correct?” Kagome asked him softly.

<Yes it is.> he replied in Inu Yokai. Kagome’s brown eyes widened as she heard his voice when he didn’t talk.

“What? How did you do that?” Kagome asked him.

<Inu Yokai like us can speak it.> he replied then said out loud to them all, “Sesshomaru accepted all of you as my pack. We are now an official pack with our own lands. Kagome, please hand Miroku the map.” Kagome stood and walked over to where the monk was sitting. She handed him the map then turned around to sit by her alpha male.

“Kaede’s village?” InuYasha I never knew you owned all this.” Miroku said as he passed the map to Sango.

“Is this us?” Sango asked and InuYasha nodded. Mizu, InuYasha, Kagome and Shippo sat up straight as a piercing howl came through the forest in the direction of Sesshomaru’s castle. Koga from his spot near the edge of the forest howled in reply.

“My wolves were attacked I must go.” he said as he disappeared in a whirlwind.

<InuYasha the castle is being attacked by the cats come now and bring your exterminator and monk. Leave Kagome and Shippo with Rin.> Sesshomaru called out to him.

“Sorry Kagome but my brother’s being attacked and he wishes that you watch over Shippo and Rin, while me Sango and Miroku fight with him.” InuYasha said bracing for a sit.

“No! I want to come!” Kagome growled. Shippo jumped off InuYasha’s lap knowing InuYasha was leader of a pack and had his duty. InuYasha jumped up and pinned Kagome to the ground, growling he told her in Inu Yokai, <Beg, female is bad. You do not disrespect Leader male like that!> Kagome’s eyes widened as she trembled under his glare. She lifted her chin and showed her neck, being submissive to her leader.

“InuYasha!” Sango said as she threw a rock at the hanyou.

“Stop Sango, InuYasha is teaching her a lesson.” Miroku said as he held his arm out in front of the furious exterminator.

InuYasha stood and growled at her, “You are to stay!” he told her as he walked off with Sango, Miroku and Kirara trailing behind.

“He did it to me last night when I snapped at him. He is only being a leader.” Shippo told her as Rin handed Kagome a flower.

“Thank you Rin.” Kagome said as she put the flower in her hair.

“He spoke to you didn’t he?” Shippo asked.

“What?” Kagome asked startled. Rin was close by picking more flowers.

“Inu Yokai. He spoke to you in it. I can understand a bit but not much seeing as I’m a fox demon not a inu.” Shippo said as he ran towards Rin. Kagome sat there and watched the pups play and squeal in delight whenever Shippo used his fox magic.

“So your pack left you and the pups unguarded. Time for pay back and revenge for killing members of my pack,” a male voice said behind her and down wind so she couldn’t smell him.

“Who are you?” Kagome asked watching as Shippo froze when he saw Kagome in trouble.

“I am the Leader of the Green Pride. I led your hanyou to believe we were attacking the fool Sesshomaru’s castle so I can hunt you down.” turning she saw the green tiger demon from before. “I am Taiga of the tiger demons,” he said as he shifted to his true form.

Kagome jumped back and tripped as the tiger attacked her. Suddenly a blue tiger attacked him forcing him away from Kagome. Mizu was latched onto the green tiger’s neck. Kagome ran to her pack and picked her bow up just as Mizu was thrown into a tree. Her tiger form dissolved and turned semi-human. Kagome aimed at the tiger as it came closer. Focusing her miko powers into the arrow she let it fly and it buried deep within the cats shoulder. The cat snarled and transformed to his humanoid form.

“I will kill you since your protectors are not here.” Taiga hissed as he pulled a green sword from his back. Cracking his neck taiga advanced on Kagome.

“Shippo take Rin and run! Warn InuYasha now!” she screamed. Attempting Inu Yokai Kagome called to InuYasha, <Help female in danger!>

<I come.> a voice replied.
