Washi jumped from her lap to the grass. He knew what she was going to do. As she removed a small knife from her waist she moved and lifted her kimono to her upper hip where a star shaped scar was.
“The shikon no tama is in you.” Said Naraku.
“Once used the shikon will continue to be recreated inside of my body until I am dead or it is used for a pure reason.” She cut it out of her healing her side. “Seeing as how I would not longer be anything remote to pure, and it can hold my miko purity if I should decide to take it back, it must be removed from my body Naraku. Then Washi and I must travel to store it and Tetsigua in safe places, for both no longer have any use for me.”
“Will you no longer have a use for me Noriega.”
“I am no fool and will not completely rid myself, of myself.”
The girl stood holding the jewel in its glory steadily pouring red energy into it. When it stopped coming from her body Washi immediately took the jewel by the small necklace and flapped away from her. Dark energy emerged from her body. She smiled. Noriega with all of her being wanted to unleash death from her in its full glory knowing of how blissful it would be. She could see clearer. Her powers no longer clashed within her. The energy dissipated and she took in a breath. She smelled food.
Naraku saw that she sensed, smelled different. He looked at her seeing her markings that were all over her body symbolizing full inuyoukai would be slightly darker if not for the kimono hindering her sight. As she turned he saw a glimpse of a black pattern on her.
Washi perched on her shoulder. “Mama?”
“Yes Washi.”
Sounds the same. “Nothing.”
She walked off. “I will return. I'm still on vacation.”
When Noriega did decide to return only five days had passed. She stood next to Naraku with Washi still on her shoulder.
“You don't have to wait for me to speak before you do Noriega, I can tell you still fear me.”
Noriega did not respond. “I have seven months until my, vacation is over. In that time I feel the need to take over these eastern lands. I n seeing how you also require a blood catharsis of some level,” she walked off. “I will start north going east. Naraku.”
Naraku was slightly stunned in the manner she did so. Why now and what vacation was she on? Too late to ask now, she was gone. They would meet up in four months at the palace area where they had planned far earlier on before…When she could look him in the eye.
“Humph…I don't really care as long as I can control her and her power.”
As the months passed Washi thought the old Noriega was back. She killed with a new efficiency, swifter, far more deadly. There was even a glow around her that made her look pure…Washi could not pin point the word. She had filled her soul sack from emptying it in the cave she stored them in. He chirped happily as she walked.
“What has caused this excitement in you Washi.”
“I think you're back to normal again.”
“Because you see me more deadly than before Washi, but you know me too well and have lied to yourself. If I truly were evil, I would be happy yet you see outer beauty and no shine within.”
“Is t because of whatever Naraku did to you? Why you gave up your, uhm, humanity for a lack of a better word that I can think of?”
“Mainly…Fly to him with your stealth. I will join you in two nights.”
Washi took off. In almost four months it would be the seventh time he would be separated from her for more than a few days. After a few hours he landed, for the first time since they left, on Naraku's arm. It was night and he was in the middle of his army of numerous demons with his leaders. He originally had left with far greater numbers but dropped them off to keep the land to which they had taken insuring no one else would try to take over.
“Washi. You have come to visit us. How is your progress.”
`Actually Noriega told me to stay with you and she will meet up in two nights.'
“Very well.” Naraku said. “May I suggest you getting in some sleep until she comes.”
Washi woke flapping up from Kagura where he was moved to and landed on Noriega's arm. He chirped to her.
”You have come back Noriega! Naraku says come morning we can take the palace and you two can rule this place!”
Noriega spoke walking through the soldiers and minions feeling their heads following her. “Your excitement profounds you Washi for you do not even know why you are excited.”
“Well, I would be able to fly freely, and maybe even soar all night long without getting hurt.”
“Jovial child. Your wants are for your age, but acceptable.”
“And, now that you've said something, I hope this'll get you happy again Noriega-Mama. All of these solders thing you're beautiful on the outside, but they cant see you inside.”
“Very wise, yet,” Noriega sat in the inner circle next to Naraku,” I still have much to teach you.”
Everyone turned to Noriega as she sat in the moonlight making her stand out as if she were the only one there. Kagura spoke.
“You've, changed, Noriega.”
She looked down some. “Very presumptuous of you, all.”
More so, they also noticed the flicker of the small fire in her eyes made her look evil. And she liked it. A person informed her of the palace plan of attack. Naraku spoke to her afterwards.
“You hide from me as usual.”
“I just, have to, keep an appointment in a few weeks. Tasks as such keep me well, rounded.”
“Of what sorts.”
Noriega laid back, tail out and closed her eyes. If anyone else had walked past, they would have thought her truly asleep, but the group knew that wasn't happening.
“I bore of this…Washi.”
Washi jumped from her arm to the grass. He thought to them all after a while of communicating with Noriega.
`Noriega has her own war to battle.'
A half fox half dog demon spoke. “War, more Noriega?”
Naraku spoke. “Your words have more meanings than a spider's arms.”
“Figuratively and literally but it does not concern anyone else here, for it is a private, affair.”
A different demon spoke. “Care to explain through your Noriega's cryptic ways Washi?”
“If you encourage Washi further you will be killed by me. Go to sleep Washi you need rest.”
The phoenix falcon got into her tail and drifted off. “Noriega.”
“Wars are a wide spread form of entertainment of seeing blood and bones fly from your view. I relish in it for war brings much death tot which I can enjoy. The next will be no different. To anything else, there is no point.”
“We can tell you like blood Noriega even more.” Said a snake demon.
“Like is a fickle word…Relish.” Noriega said.
“And if not Washi would you tell us to whom you plan to war on.”
Noriega spoke. “I can not war on, if I did not make the first move.”
Naraku spoke. “Who then.”
“You do not realize you already know.”
Her last words did not settle right with Naraku. Was she so scared she would kill him? Was she even against him, or was she actually speaking about a war? Did she have no war plans at all?
`Or is there someone else. Maybe she truly is evil.'
They all half slept the night away with two exceptions: Washi was asleep safely in Noriega's tail, who was wide awake with her eyes closed. When dawn came they all woke within five minutes then looked at her. The half fox dog demon spoke.
“She's still asleep.”
Naraku spoke back turned to them all. “She never went to sleep. She's just waiting for us to leave.”
About ten minutes passed. Noriega spoke eyes still closed. The only difference was Washi on her stomach.
“You do realize, they have sent in reinforcements for the up in coming battle.”
Naraku spoke. “You seem very unconcerned.”
“Not many things concern me, Naraku.”
Someone spoke. “How many of what, where, when.”
An emotionless smile no one understood or could read crept upon her face. “About twenty minutes ago a group passed west of here, perhaps a ten minute running distance.”
Washi took off. The same half fox half scorpion demon spoke. “Well how many do you believe were there-“
Some one else. “We should have attacke-“
“-and been attacked ourselves on both sides.” Naraku said.
“Most were too stealthy to be heard, but others were loud enough to purposely draw attention for a trap. I only heard sixty different foot steps.”
“So we have the last forces at the castle, probably somewhere around a legion, with some of the escaped lesser lords and militants to fight.”
“And we have about a thousand of our top fighters here.”
“Which the back up means they knew they would be defeated-”
“-So is the back up last resort, desperate, or fool proof.”
It was quiet for sometime. An insect demon spoke. “Do you know who passed, Noriega.”
During their drawn out debate Noriega had remained quiet and unchanged. “I will inform you, when Washi returns.”
Fifteen minutes later the small yet growing phoenix falcon landed on Noriega's stomach, hopped up to where her hand could easily reach and chirped.
“I flew over. There were around one hundred eighty to two hundred of them.”
Noriega spoke. “Did you see them.”
“They were wearing cloaks, but,” he extended his wing revealing a crunched leaf, “I remember what you told me. They probably masked their scent, but you ant do it that well directly. I picked this up from a boot print.”
Noriega took the leaf in her hand then sniffed it. “Perhaps we may not have to do battle with him after all Washi.”
“I get it Mama…But even if we were, going up against the South, Marazou. That's lot even for you. Dragons are really really really powerful.”
She sat up eyes open. “I don't loose battles Washi. You know this. For the rest of, you, Marazou has sent one hundred ninety dragons to aid Sanoske to ensure his lands are not sought after.”
“Yet you still seem very, expressed.”
“I do not loose battles.”
“All of Naraku's best warriors are here Noriega, one thousand, up against a legion at that, leaving us with six hundred. But dragons?” Asked a demon.
“If they transform to their uninhibited state we are finished.” Someone else said.
“If you cower back you will be finished as well.” Naraku said.
“But Naraku sama dragons transformed follow no pattern for power. At times their powers can be uncharted or their strongest fighters in current state are weaker than conscripts.”
“If you wish a woman Shitake to show you up,” Noriega said. “then stay here complaining while I slay.”
Kagura spoke. “A, night battle would benefit us, Noriega.”
“It will be taken care of.”
Naraku spoke. “Noriega and I will take on the dragons. Jinbu and Makatrato will lead the rest.”
Washi chirped. “Let me fight too Mama.”
“I do not doubt your strength Washi but I do not want the possibility of your death looming over me instead of a dead dragon. You will perch where it is safe, far away towards the back defenses.”
They went about a kilometer away from the palace where the troops gathered. Noriega noticed that she did not see Sanoske anywhere, and that she could not see or smell the dragons. She was not one to like stand stills, but she did not want to waste her energy on petty reptiles and such. She kept looking until she heard a distinct noise reminding her of Mamochan towards the sunrise. She unsheathed Takarou realizing it would take far more energy than she had ever put into it to turn dawn into the dark of night, but she wasn't the same person and focused.
Those upfront saw Noriega's sword glow burning black and dark blue. The sun rose and as it set twenty minutes later the moon came out disappearing into perfect blackness. The only thing visible was Noriega's evil eyes and the sword as she swung it across from her releasing flames of death to the east encompassing them in death. It took out about fifty dragons, where she aimed, and numerous other solders.
The fighting broke out and Noriega immediately swung her arm back across her like a forehand causing a massive explosion. There was a rift separating the dragons. Naraku spoke fighting with her.
“You told me you couldn't do that any longer, without miko abilities.”
“The inuyoukai you knew before there was a rift is not the one currently to your right.”
Noriega separated from Naraku and began cutting through the dragons. Once they realized she could not be stopped about twenty dragons transformed with deafening roars. She quickly held her ears and ran swiftly as possible wielding her sword sending the death scar at one cutting it to death. But she did not have the energy to take them all. The transformed male black inu immediately jumped on one slashing deep into the dragon bleeding it to death. Noriega jumped through to the untransformed dragons and battled through. Naraku walked up to her in his regular person form once he finished with his lot of the dragons. He wiped his bloody claws off on his ripped outfit.
“And yet you are not even scratched.”
Noriega smelled Naraku's blood. “True.”
“You're still evil and scared of me.” Naraku said. He thought for a while and added something else. “Sorry.”
“Just because I am evil and have given up my morals and humanity does not mean I have given up my life maintaining intelligence.”
Naraku stood infront of her holding her hips as the battle still raged on slightly in the distance. He thought to himself for a while.
`Does this inu truly believe I will kill her, or is this all about me remaking of her non injured state?' He mentally sighed. `If I do not comfort her in some shape then she will continue to act as so, and my offspring will have no value to me with a detached mother.' Naraku spoke. “I beat you causing you to loose the pregnancy. I hurt you beyond words. I truly am sorry. But do not give up who you are because of pain.”
“I am still who I am. I am evil and someone lost to you is asleep.” She walked off. “The battle rages, do you come, Naraku.”
Naraku completely was lost unable to understand her words at all. He had no idea of her meaning. He ran after seeing her explode a path through to the palace. She burst through the doors seeing the shadow desecrate enemies. She jumped to the next level slashing through a number of alligator demons taking their weapons throwing them at the opposition across her path. Leaving a trail of death in her path she ran through to where she smelled Sanoske over all of the blood. Before she could reach the turn for the doors a bull demon with immense speed caught Noriega by surprise ramming her off of the third floor to the entrance level.
Naraku barley saw her fall bouncing once letting out an almost inaudible yelp. He immediately left his opponent and blocked the bull demon about to crush his mate with a trident, then threw him to the side. He heard his mate slow to stand and unsheathed his katana.
“Are you injured.”
“I am mortal. You should attend to Sanoske, Naraku.”
Noriega turned to the bull demon in the distance getting to his feet as Naraku jumped to the upper floors. Noriega evilly smiled as the bull ran towards her and before he could completely swing the mace in his hand in one direction she ducked down and put her hand to his stomach filling him with darkness unimaginable. He fell dead.
As Noriega fell to her knees propped up by her sword she realized how much the blow and the fall truly did to her. She could hear enemy approaching. Noriega had more power, evil, but when she was balanced her body was far stronger. She stood wielding her sword, side stepped ducking down as the east forces attacked her. She cut half of the off at the knees then got slashed straight down her back. Feeling the blood from her body splatter on top of her tail she quickly turned jumping out of the way to see the snake demon covered in her own blood. She sent a focused explosion at his body seeing bones and chucks of his body fly as she ran as fast as she was able to now slicing through the rest in her way with Takarou.
Feeling her blood oozing from her back even more she quickly made her way to the dinning hall to see a number of frightened servants. She evilly smiled and sheathed her sword. Noriega slashed through ripping through the flesh of the help until she stopped. With her hand still raised in the air she saw two female turtle demons huddling to themselves before her. Noriega kept her focus on them, noticing the younger turtle demon wore a blue and black kimono. She killed the older turtle demon next to the younger one, who looked up at Noriega eyes full of fear while the rest of her was covered in the blood of the dead turtle demon.
“Weakling, tell me where you keep your bandages.”
Naraku, after decapitating Sanoske, jumped down to the first floor battling with an a kodachi and a slim long sword until it was clear. He jumped down to the entrance floor where he fought until he heard almost feeling an explosion directly behind him. He turned seeing the blood fall to the floor and Noriega put her hand on the hilt of her sword.
`Slow breaths.' Naraku thought. `Noriega doesn't show weakness to anyone…But I beat her…' Naraku looked at her closer, not sure what else was different, besides the fact that she was so blood covered that he could no longer smell her scent. He spoke. “Don't go back into battle to prove yourself.”
Noriega stood sheathing her sword walking off. “I am fine.”
He stood turning towards his mate who wouldn't look him in the eye. She, wore a kimono, new, over the bottom half. It closely resembled the one before, yet, he knew she was injured… Yet she did not bleed. He was not fond of this `new' Noriega.
After unleashing two death scars at the same time she walked feeling her bandages ooze more outside. In a small clearing about five hundred of Naraku's stood. They were all bleeding and drenched in blood. The wounded Kagura spoke to Noriega.
“You were amazing Noriega. I saw you take many souls.”
“Truthful.”
“I don't even see a scratch on you.”
“Truthful again.” Noriega sat as Washi landed on her shoulder.
Naraku joined the group noticing, though mainly in the dark despite a camp fire, that her `cleaned off' kimono still had deep oozing areas. “Noriega will stay here with the injured. Seeing as how it probably is a few hours from dawn the rest will travel back to retrieve the servants and workers.”
Noriega spoke. “Washi, go with Naraku.”
He chirped. “So he can have a good set of shoulders?”
“Yes Washi.”
Noriega sat with about four hundred injured demons as the other one hundred or so left back to the complex where the masses of servants were. She sat taking out a soul to secretly help her in re-bandaging her wound.
