Kagome sat on a cushion in the corner watching as Sesshomaru worked. Or at least what he called work. The sun had set and she had pulled him away long enough to eat before joining him again in the study.
“We have to go to bed sometime.” She called to him hoping he would get the point. Sadly he didn't. Growling. “I'm not going to bed when it's cold Sesshomaru.”
”Sleep with the children.” He replied passively.
“I don't wanna, both of them are cover hogs.” She pouted and folded her arms across her chest.
“Then do not complain.”
Kagome sighed and decided to just lay down in the corner. She was sure he wouldn't move until he was satisfied, which would be awhile.

Welcome, we have seen your events for today and we will grant you the Lord's early return, with one condition.
Kagome stretched and looked at the clouds as they passed. She then bowed waiting for them to speak.
A demon lives to the East of your palace. You will go to him and tell him of us. You will tell him we have seen his deeds and he is free.
“As you wish.” Kagome said. It sounded easy enough.
You and your Mate will go alone. Tonight you will meditate and return to practicing attacks and defenses.
Kagome bowed and did as told.

Sesshomaru watched Kagome fall asleep. Her body collapsed on itself almost but he realized it was because of how she was laying. Her body was curled around itself and her upper body was propped up between the wall and the cushion she was on. Flinching, knowing it probably wasn't comfortable; he left his desk and went to her. Fixing her body he left her with his fur and returned to work.

Dawn came and Sesshomaru looked out the window of his study. Kagome still lay in the corner but he smiled as she shifted in her sleep. One eye cracked itself then the other followed. “Sess?”
“Hn?”
“We have to go.” Kagome sat up and wiped the sleep from her eyes.
“If you want to go home I see no reason not to.” He turned and walked over to her offering a hand to help her stand.
Kagome took the hand. “No, we can get your dad back sooner but we gotta tell some demon he is free. That is what the Gods want us to do.”
“This demon, tell me more.”
“I don't know a lot. We have to travel east from here and find a demon. Only you and I can go but we have to tell him that the gods say he is free.”
”You now nothing more?”
”Not really.”
Sesshomaru sighed and pulled his Mate close inhaling her scent. “Do you realize how many demons there are in a single direction?”
”Less then in all direction?” Kagome grinned and the shrugged.
“We traveled a lot in the East, Inu Yasha tried to avoid this place so we always went East. There are villages that know us well and Koga can tell us more if we have to call on him…or is he dead? I really don't remember.”
”He is alive. His pride may not be but he is. He has sent his congratulations to us. I have also sent your regards to his mating of Ayame.”
”About time. Now maybe she won't hate me.”
He listened to her grumble for a moment. “Servants have been by to ask about the morning meal? Do you wish to eat?”
Kagome thought about it, “Probably should.”
”Then let us meet everyone.”
Kagome looked down at her attire and smoothed away the wrinkles. “I know you don't like me wearing lower grade clothing, but can I take Sango and the kids to the village and go shopping? I want another hair comb and maybe see about having cook make something from my era.”
”When we return from your quest I will see. But as you say `no promises.'”
Kagome accepted it and followed him to breakfast.

Inu Yasha was absent but no one seemed to worry. Kagome announced her and Sesshomaru would be leaving. Soon after Sango made an announcement.
“Miroku and I, after your return, are going back to see if Kyade is in need of anything and visit the slayers village. We should be gone two or three weeks.
Kagome looked at Sesshomaru, his face remained blank as he returned her gaze. She was slightly depressed.
“Alright, we can't take the kids and Inu Yasha is gone so can you do it? Shippo will start warrior training but Rin has been dismissed of her classes. Just answer most of her questions, we'll try and get back ASAP.”
“Alright. So who is in charge?”
This time Sesshomaru spoke up. “Jaken will over-see everything that is needed, but should something happen that is out of his…expertise a General will step up until my return. With my mating no one will cross our path for some time. They are cautious now, and will become stupid later.”
”Alright, we got this.”
”Thanks Sango.” Kagome gave her a smile and Sango smiled back. They missed each other but knew after Naraku's death things would buckle down, but they never expected it to be so soon.

Breakfast went by quickly and when Kagome was done Sesshomaru dismissed her and himself. He pulled her into the study and pressed her against the wall.
“Why was Rin's classes dismissed?” He snarled.
Kagome struggled but his grip only tightened. “Your beginning to hurt me.” She said.
“Answer me.”
”I listened in on one of her lessons neither her nor her teacher knew I was there. I over heard the teacher, if you want to call her that, ask why Rin put up with you. Rin defended you and her with honor, but was punished. You may have turned me into a demon enough to please everyone but Rin is still to human for some. I waited until the lesson was over and Rin was dismissed before instructing the woman she was to leave the castle lands and never return, and if she set another hand against Rin I would remove it.”
Sesshomaru was beyond surprised. He never really had taken an interest in Rin's studies. How long had this gone on? Letting go of Kagome abruptly he turned and walked to his desk placing both hands on the old wood and bent over, angry with himself and with everyone around him.
Kagome rubbed the sore spot where his hands had begun to bruise her. “I'm sorry if I over stepped but it wasn't fair to Rin. She is loyal, she shouldn't be punished for it.” Kagome tried to seem small knowing he was angry. She waved her hand and focused a second creating a barrier much like the ones he made.
“Sesshomaru? Are you angry with me? I can fix it if you want me too.”
”Yes…no.” He growled spinning away from his desk and stalking towards her. “I am angry with you for doing something I should have noticed. I do not wish for you to fix it.” He grabbed her again.
Kagome tried to shrink back suddenly afraid.
“You are afraid, do you believe I would harm you? My mate?” Kagome felt his body tense like many other people who had held her like this; she waited for him to hit her. Instead Sesshomaru sighed and pulled her into his body. “I will not harm you.”
Kagome remained tense in his arms for awhile before relaxing enough to be comfortable.
Kagome let him just hold her feeling slightly awkward. This was suppose to be the Lord of the Western Lands, the Ice Prince…but he wasn't so bad…
Kagome almost smiled but it only lasted a second before she pushed him away with everything she had, dropping the barrier she ran from the room out the balcony doors.
Sesshomaru stood shocked before rushing after her. He found her beside a bush with many others helping her as she threw up what she had just eaten. “You will leave us.” He snarled at the surrounding people, mostly men who had been training in the courtyard. Everyone cleared leaving him and her alone for the most part.
“Are you well?” He commanded trying not to show worry for her in the open.
“No.” She coughed. More food poured from her mouth and she spit it trying to clear her throat to breath. He walked up to her and sniffed, sorting through the scents he found just hers and focused. Something was different in her scent.
“Jaken.” He called knowing the toad would hear him.
It took a moment but the retainer fell to the ground bowing at his feet. “What does my Lord need of this lowly servant?”
“You will fetch Ashi. She will tend to this one's mate.” Jaken nodded sending a worried look at Kagome before running off at a speed no one knew he had. Sesshomaru had seen the toad's expression before he had left and was pleased. Jaken could be annoying but Kagome had taking apart of him, Sesshomaru knew the toad would protect her if it came to it.
Kagome gagged once more before stopping. She wiped her mouth and stood slowly, “I don't feel so good.” She said seconds before fainting.
Sesshomaru caught her and paid no attention to anyone as he carried her up to the medical wing of the castle. Fear sinking in he wished he had never had sex with her, he wished he had not been angry with her, he just wanted her better.
Placing his Mate on a bed he wet a rag and draped it over her head sitting on the edge of the bed. A woman hurried in and rushed to the bed side.
“My Lord, Jaken has told me our Lady is ill.” The woman moved the rag briefly to see if she had a fever before replacing it.
“She is pupped. This one has smelled something wrong for days.” Sesshomaru stood and moved to the foot of the bed out of the way.
“You should have brought her to me sooner My Lord.”
“Hn. You will tend to her Ashi.” He turned and left.
Kagome groaned, “Sess…Sesshoma…” She could seem to form his name but tried anyways. The girl beside her understood and rushed after her Lord.
Sesshomaru growled as he was pulled back to his Mate's bedside. “She wishes for you to stay.” Ashi placed a chair for him to sit but it went unnoticed as he sat on the bed instead taking his mate's hand in his own.
“Water.” Kagome wet her lips and squeezed the hand in hers. “Sorry. Weak.”
Ashi handed a cup of water to her Lady and held her drink a small sip. Kagome drank the cup and pushed it away when it was empty. She tried to sit up but was pushed back down.
“You will rest.” Sesshomaru commanded her.
“Can't, you know we don't have time.” Kagome tried again and fail to sit up.
“This one is Lord of these Lands, He says what will happen, as of now your health has taken priority.” Glaring at the woman tending his mate she quickly ran off the give them privacy. Placing a barrier he moved to pick up the ill woman. Happy no one would disturb them he pulled her against his body and sat so that she lay in his lap, head resting on his chest. “You must be well for our pup, rest. We will wait until you are well enough to travel. Sleep and summon your gods, talk to them, ask them for an escort.” He hated need to ask permission like he was, it made him feel weak, but even he knew not to challenge the gods.
“Don't leave me.” She whispered before allowing herself to fall into a light sleep.

You are not aware of your situation.
“My apologies. I however am not aware of the things you talk about.” Kagome bowed and sighed at the repetitive actions she took every time she came to this place.
Stand tall Miko. You are pregnant.
“I am aware of this my Lords and Ladies.” Kagome stood tall and forced herself to not be afraid.
You will have more then one child.
Kagome knew from their voice they were smiling. “How many?”
We have gifted you with four. A lucky number is it not? The exact number of years you have spent in the past traveling. We will warn you, as even we feel bad for your misfortunes, your monk dies. If you wish to save him you will perform the ritual your Mate has before the next full moon or it will be too late. We will watch over on that night to seal our ritual.
With their final words spoken they kicked her from their domain and she slept.

Sesshomaru refused to allow anyone to visit except the children. Both left every couple of hours to tell what was going on and to eat before returning.
Kagome slept the rest of the day and most of the night. Both children had curled up on the bed beside the one their parents occupied and fell asleep. It was hours after dawn when Kagome began to wake, much to Sesshomaru's relief.
“Kagome.” He whispered.
“Um.” She curled against his chest and tried to go back to sleep.
“What have the gods said?”
Her eyes slowly opened and she started at him with sleep still covering most of her face. “Four.” She muttered before turning her head down and trying to sleep.
“Kagome…” Sesshomaru sighed, why did his woman need so much sleep? “What did they say about taking someone on your quest?”
”Didn't ask. Tooooo shocked.” She yawned and looked up at him with wide eyes.
“Shocked about what?”
Kagome pulled away and stretched. Yawning one more time she explained. “Well, I got there and they toyed with me a minute then said I'm fine but we're worrying over nothing, pretty much. They explained and told me I have to bond with Miroku this full moon or he will die.”
“Your monk shows no sign of illness, but even I will not challenge the gods. We will perform the ritual in one week then.” Kagome nodded. “Will you explain why the gods told us not to worry?” He pulled her back into his lap.
“Well you see, remember when you side some females have more then…one…pup?”
He nodded against her neck not understanding where she was headed. “Well you also said you and Inu Yasha were special because it was only you. Well....” Kagome fidgeted with a lock of his hair. “Oh screw it, they blessed us with four brats.”
“I do not…” He trailed off finally understanding. That was why her scent was off, she wasn't just having one pup she was having four.
Oh shit. Sesshomaru thought. He had never liked children, Rin and Shippo the exception.
We have done well.
Sesshomaru snarled at his beast. After the attack on Kagome, the `monster' had little to no room to do anything but watch. His control over his beast was solid and unwavering. Shutting the connection between them he forced that part of himself `under the rug.'
Kagome yawned again and looked up. “I can try and go back and ask, but honestly, I don't think they want to talk. We'll be fine. If things get too bad we'll just come back.”
Sesshomaru glared at her, “if you at carrying multiple pups you will not leave these walls. I can be lenient for one pup, two would push it, but there are four instead so you will not leave my sight.”
”But Sesshomaru! Please. You know I can't just sit next to you all day!” Kagome pushed away from him and knelt on the edge of the bed facing him.
“When Inu Yasha returns I will place you in his care and leave on your quest. The Gods' message will be delivered. I can travel faster knowing your safe and that I don't have to worry about every demon trying to attack. It would be tedious for you to come now.” He lounged across the pillows and leaned into the headboard of the bed. He was posing.
Kagome was shocked. He reached out to pull her to him again and she crawled as far away as she could before the bed ran out.
“Come to me.” He growled suddenly not sure about her behavior.
Kagome shook her head. She made the motion to climb off the bed. Something told her to move faster and in a heartbeat she was across the room, Sesshomaru now standing where she should have been.
Sesshomaru looked over at his mate. “Come here Kagome. This one will not harm you. You must submit.” His voice was heavy and it was back to being unemotional.
Tears began streaming down Kagome's face. “You will punish me for giving you what you want. It's not my fault you will have four children instead of one. I didn't want four.” More tears followed the rest.
“My word is final, you will not leave my side, and you will not leave these walls. Do you understand?”
Kagome desperately wanted to tell him to go to hell but bit her tongue. Again she felt something whisper along her skin, moving to stand in front of the window back on the other side of the room she watched as Sesshomaru's anger built. The fact that she didn't know how she was moving so fast was beyond her, although she doubted he would believe her.
Sesshomaru moved to grab her one more time knowing he had her within his reach. However he didn't plan on her to move backwards and fly out the window rather then moving back into the room. He followed her in a flash of light.
Kagome moved backwards knowing it would be her last chance to escape. Why she needed to she didn't know. Hitting the ground she took a millisecond to look up, seeing Sesshomaru following her she ran for the garden. She felt him following but forced her mysterious body to continue.
Experience told her even Inu Yasha couldn't move as fast as she was going. The Southern wall came into view and she ran harder knowing of a hiding spot she could seal off to be alone. Taking a sharp right along the wall she seem the spot coming up.
Sesshomaru had no idea where the woman in front of him was running. Her scent told him she was upset and afraid. Reason enough he kept pace with her he followed.
Kagome pulled on her power and dove for the knot in the tree big enough to fit three of four people. She raised the barrier to keep people out as soon as her feet cleared the entrance. Sesshomaru stopped centimeters from the pink barrier. His face gave away nothing but Kagome knew he was in a rage. Sitting she pulled her legs up to her chest and hid half in the dark half out.
Sesshomaru watched at his mate pulled herself into a ball and partially disappear into the knot in the tree. He was angry. Why had she run away? Why had she acted like she had?
“Mate.” He snarled silently commanding her to come to him.
Kagome felt a tug at her soul as he ordered her again. She hated it, she didn't want to go, she wanted to be alone, why didn't he understand.
Calling to her one more time she watched as she made jerky movements towards him. She was obviously fighting his orders to her beast, which was similar to his weather she knew of it or not.
Kagome fought but her hand slowly reached out to him crossing the barrier. As her hand crossed the transparent light she watched in horror as her delicate hand turned to that of a dog's paw. Seeing it broke her trance and she pulled the appendage back into the tree narrowly avoiding Sesshomaru's grip. She retreated all the way back into the darkness.
Sesshomaru watched in fascination as he got the first look of his mate's animal form. The fur was a fine black hair that reminded him of a soft dust or pollen. However his amazement was cut short as the smell of his mate's horror, revulsion and fear burned at his nose. Her revulsion caused him to gag and fight not to show it's effect.
“You will cease this foolishness.” He snarled and growled low ordering her in the Inu language to come to him.
A fire started in Kagome that seemed to burn from the inside out. The pain built and she tried to force herself to not respond to whatever Sesshomaru was doing. She had agreed to children but not four. There were times when Shippo, who knew right from wrong, was too much to handle. If she thought about it she could feel the small pulses of power growing in her body. It also led to the knowledge that with one burst of energy she could turn the full demons human or even kill them. The knowledge made her afraid, almost as much as when she had reached outside the barrier. The black paw had been big, but no bigger then her hand. Her daze was snapped when Sesshomaru growled at her again.
She looked at him and huddled further in the tree, thankful that she had found this place playing with the kids.

Sesshomaru couldn't see Kagome but he could smell her. Her fear burned his nose. Taking a deep breath he calmed down and replayed the last hour in his mind. He went piece by piece through that time in seconds.
“This one is not angry that you will bare multiple pups. This one only wishes to comfort you and smell his, our, pups. It is a great honor for a female to bear more then two pups. It is rare.” Holding his breath, Sesshomaru hoped she would come to him. The fact that he had not noticed that she thought he was angry with her for having more them one pup was…frightening. What was more scary was that she had said she didn't want four either.
“Kagome, drop your barrier and we will return to this one's study and discuss everything that has happened.” He stepped back giving her room and held out his hand. It was as close to begging, as he was willing to admit.

Kagome listened to him talk but she felt cold. She never wanted this, why her?

Sesshomaru waited and when he smelt her shutting herself down he decided to take action. Drawing on the miko and demonic energy they shared he poured it into the barrier. The barrier, under the great power began to crack. Finally it shattered and he swept into the dark hole to grab his mate. Sealing the tree again he pulled Kagome against him and buried her face in his neck. Sitting on the ground leaning against the bark he made a decision that would either help them or ruin him.

“I'm sorry again for my mistakes that make you fear me and deem me untrustworthy. I would understand if you left or killed our unborn pups, but I'm asking you not to.” Feeling now that the woman in his arms was listening her poured his heart out to her, shared his fear. “When I was a pup, not even 5, my father killed my unborn sister. He was angry with my mother for talking with a general of the army. It was that day she began to hate him. Not only could she not love him anymore for his actions but she was unable to bare anymore pups, I would be her last and only. I didn't understand at the time when he attacked her. She had tried to convince the General to become a traitor. My mother was a maiden that had been traded for peace between the two ruling Inu tribes. With the mating between her and my father there became only one Inu clan. She had begged the General to either kill my father or to rise her people's army and attack. My father had found out and was angry. It was when I turned 15 that I began to understand. I hated him for it. I hated that she felt the need to kill him. When she died of an unknown illness I hated him more. I threw myself at my studies determined to revenge her. I sealed away my emotions. Then one day he brought a human mate to the castle. She was pregnant. My hate grew to not only him but all humans. I hated Inu Yasha because he was the creation born from them. When our father died Inu Yasha and his mother ran. I had just turned 20 and that was a good age to start learning to rule but not to rule. I didn't have control over the people so I could not protect Inu Yasha or his mother. Part of me wanted to kill both of them, not for being human but because she was the reason my father was dead. She had taken my revenge away. I learned what I needed too and learned of Inu Yasha's mother's death close to 80 years later. I had sent Myoga to watch over Inu Yasha, it was almost another 100 years before the undead priestess sealed him to the tree. I searched the land for years to find someone strong enough to release him but you showed up after 50 years, almost to the day. You released him and I hated you because you could do what I could not. I had always know about the black pearl but I only attempted to steal it as to test Inu Yasha. You were right with some of your assumptions about me, I never was trying to kill him, I just wanted him strong for the time when he chose to return home.
“In your travels I would send out scouts to villages to learn of your journey, the other Lords and Ladies thought I was being petty but I remained cold so that they would see nothing. When we first met,” he let out a tired sigh, “my beast decided you was to be our mate. I had hoped that my half-brother would mate with you but now I realize what a mistake that could have been; my beast would have killed both of you. The second time we met my focus was split. It was next to impossible to keep from truly getting killed when half of me was focused on him and the other on you.”
Kagome lay curled in Sesshomaru's arms letting his words soak in. It was beyond weird what he was admitting to. This much…sentimentality would get him killed if anyone knew…
“When Rin joined me many in the court thought she would be my pet, I didn't…couldn't deny what they said or I knew she would be killed again and I would fail at my job as her protector.
“It wasn't until recently that I even felt compelled to join your group. Naraku had never been my problem until he kidnapped Rin. I forced myself to believe that if you died I would not care, but after seeing Naraku hurt you as badly as he did the time before I joined your group my beast decided it was going to lose you and it couldn't take it. For the weeks after we joined you I fought my own instincts. If anyone knew Rin, Inu Yasha and you were my weakness there would be many people after you.
“I'm sorry you think I am angry. I'm sorry you are not happy about our pups, just please don't leave. Don't kill our pups. Please don't make me my father.” Sesshomaru tightened his grip but not enough to hurt, just strong enough to make sure she couldn't leave and to convey his message of truth.
Kagome was beyond surprised; her doubt had been washed away sometime during his speech. Now she could only sit and wonder. She had the power and ability to kill the pups but she wouldn't it just wasn't who she was as a person. She was upset for having four pups but who could ever be extremely happy about it. Somewhere inside her she felt sometime for the demon holding her. She understood everything he had done. He was a victim, like many people from her birth era, of the need to maintain an image. He had to remain cold and stoic or the people he did care about would be lost forever. Burying her face in his neck Kagome parted her lips barely and let just the tip of her tongue run a quick line along his skin. She didn't know what it meant but something deep inside her compelled her.
In that one action all the tension ran out of the demon and he just held her.
“Sesshomaru do you know what kind of tree this is?”
“Hn?” He was confused with the question. What did the tree have to do with anything?
”It is an olive tree. Where I came from, it means peace. I've never seen one this big but I think it's ironic that we have found peace here.” Slipping her arms around his neck she smiled as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
They sat there in silence for hours happy to just be.
“You have not talked to your Gods, and while the half-breed has not returned and probably will be gone for a few more days, I have decided that you will remain under the care of your friends and Jaken.”
”But…” Kagome didn't finish before he started again.
“I feel that part of the reason you became upset was that you thought that I would not allow you freedom. I am not trying to make you unhappy, but I wish that you would realize that you carry my heir. Our firstborn son will take my place when I wish to step down. It will be weeks before I can tell the sexes of our pups but we both come from strong lines. I am aware of your distain in being unable to do anything, but if I can get everything quickly settled nothing will stop us later. I am asking you to trust me. Forgive me for my mistakes and accept that I am only trying to protect you.”
Kagome thought about it for a moment. “I will stay and behave, but I need something to do. I know I can't do something that might hurt me or the pups but I can't do nothing.”
”You will teach Rin. You have done well with your kit, now you will teach Rin and should you, you may teach other's children, but only with my permission.”
Kagome thought about it. “Alright, I can do that. But you have to have a reason why you say no if I ask.”
“I will accept your terms. Let us retrieve the children and eat.”
“Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked as he stood still holding her and began to carry her.
“Hn?” Leaving the tree he looked down at the woman in his arms.
“I know that you have to be cold so that no one gets hurt, but please don't be like that with me if you can help it. I don't like it.”
“This one will try.”
Kagome accepted his words a buried her face in his chest, her arms wrapped around his neck tightly.

The day went by quicker then expected. It was already late into the evening leaving Kagome and the children alone for a few moments.
“How are you liking things Shippo?” Kagome asked as she tucked him in for the night.
“Rin and I play a lot.”
”That's good, have you made other friends?” She leaned down and gave his forehead a kiss.
“Just one, everyone else is afraid to play with us because of you and…daddy.”
Kagome looked over at Rin. “Is this true?”
”Yes Lady Mother.”
”Do you know why?” Kagome was confused and heartbroken at the same time.
“Their parents don't want then to play with us and risk angering us. They think if we don't like their kids someone will get killed.” Shippo admitted knowing his mom wouldn't like it.
“But that's stupid.”
“But it is the way of the Lord and Lady. Their children's perfectness comes before others.” Rin supplied not at all fazed.
“I am in charge of you, and while Sesshomaru is now, has been, whatever, you father, I'm sure he trusts me to watch what goes on. I will talk to some people and if you want we can try and get some more kids to play with you.”
”We would like that very much.” Rin smiled curling into her blankets as Kagome pulled them over her.
“It gets lonely Kagome.” Shippo whined.
“I know baby, I'll try and fix it.”

That night Kagome went to sleep in her mate's arms knowing just whom she needed to talk to.

The next morning at breakfast Kagome excused herself early. She hurried to the kitchen and waited for someone to find the head cook.
“Ah, Lady Kagome, was something wrong with breakfast?”
”Oh, no. You know I enjoy your cooking, I am here for business today.”
Becoming slightly afraid the demon nodded and motioned her to the back where two chairs were placed.
“I apologize, these are the only seats we have.”
”Don't worry, your not in trouble. You should know me better by now friend.” Kagome smiled trying to remain cheery even though she wanted to cry.
The old demon smiled and handed her a cup of tea. Sitting beside his Lady he gave her his full attention.
“You are my closest friend in this place. I know you are trust worth and we have become close in my time here. I come to you for a favor.”
”What has our Lord done this time?”
Kagome smiled and laughed. “Would you believe me if I said nothing?”
”You would not lie to me, or anyone for that matter.”
”You know me too well. No I come to ask if your children would wish to play with mine?”
”I'm not sure I understand.”
Kagome let out a deep sigh, “Shippo and Rin have complained that none of the other children will play with them because of me and Sesshomaru. I raised Shippo for most of his life. We would travel and he had friends in every town we went to that accepted demons. Now as the Lady of the west, and he my son, no one will play with him. Rin has never had a friend other then Shippo. She even hates it how others will not play with them. Again I tell you, I come to ask if you will allow your children to play with mine. I was told that should Rin or Shippo get angry or hurt that the child at fault could forfeit their life; you know I could never do that. I'm not going to murder someone kid because Shippo got knocked down, or Rin's hair got pulled. Sure they will cry, and it may hurt, but I'm not going to kill someone because of it. You understand right?”
Stunned by the request the man looked at his Lady. A moment passed then a smile broke out on his face. “You have my acceptance to play with my children, but first come, I wish to show you something first.” Standing he offered his hand and lead her out of the kitchen many watching in surprise having heard the conversation.

“Where are we going?” Kagome asked as her friend and two guards walked down a path just outside of the walls.
“We are almost there. I am only showing you this because I know you are a pure person. A person with good intentions towards others and will not judge them.” Gesturing to a marker in the road he lead the group into the bushes and into a very small clearing.
Kagome looked around her eyes already filling with tears.
There must have been over 30 of them. Ranging from different ages and breeds to colors and sizes. Some children were hanyou and others were mixed demons. They were thin and barely clothed.
Falling in the dirt Kagome looked at them all. It was evident they were all abandoned but who could do such a thing. Minuets passed by and Kagome just cried, finally she gathered her strength and stood.
“Guard you will summon my mate. Martaru, as your Lady, I order you to prepare a feast for these children.” Turning she stared at her friend and smiled at him letting him know he wasn't in trouble. The demon smiled back before rushing off.

Sesshomaru arrived to find his mate conversing with…things he could even find a name for. He was angry she had left the castle walls, but to see her smile the anger faded. Keeping his face clear of everything he addressed her.
“Mate? What is the meaning of this?”
The clearing went silent and Kagome stood. “Sesshomaru, can we keep them?” She begged. Forcing her eyes to water over and sticking her bottom lip out she pouted to him.
Sesshomaru let out a sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Slouching a bit he waved off the guards.
“They are not lost dogs, mate. Do you realize what this would do you our Kingdom? We would be seen as week. I'm sorry, but you know I can't.”
Kagome thought about it. “Your wrong for once. Give me one minute to prove this is a good idea. If I don't convince you, then I will take them to my village, but we both know they won't stay here.”
”Very well, but only a moment.”
Taking a deep breath Kagome began. “If we accept these children and raise them to be warriors we get more guards and warriors. Second, if word does get around we will only be weak to the full demons, however, half demons and other outcasts will come and ask to join us, we will get stronger. Anyone who wishes to challenge us will most likely lose, besides who would win against you and me. Third and finally, I will do anything you want of me for one night anytime of your choosing, with in reason, if I can keep them, you know I'll take care of them all, and Rin will be happy.” Kagome sang the last part. Hook line and sinker. She had won and she knew it.
Sesshomaru growled, he was beginning to hate it when she was right. “Very well, but they are your responsibility. Everything that involves them will be handled by you, even punishment.”
Kagome gulped but agreed. She knew that would be common for the first few months if not years. “Alright, I'll do it. But know that your children that grow in me will not lose my affections Sesshomaru they will be our world, I promise you.”
”I know Kagome, I know.” Turning the demon Lord walked away.
