Kagome felt the mattress under her stomach and forced her lunch back into it. She had only been able to lie on her stomach for the last week and a half. Her back was still healing but it was slow. Thankfully thought, it wouldn't scar. However on top of that, her stomach was beginning to swell with the pups and it was becoming more and more uncomfortable. Kagome looked ahead at the wall and let out another sigh. Her family was gone with only a note saying they would be back by Christmas, it wasn't even Halloween yet. Evidently they had gone on a world cruise given to the family by a neighboring shrine. Who knows?
Kagome felt Inu Yasha walking up the stairs. He had yet to go back to the feudal era to check in, and Gods did she hope he did soon.
“Hey wench? We're out of Raman.”
Wanting to cry out with a `gee I wonder why' Kagome held her tongue and whispered a simple “ok.” A week and a half of Raman, breakfast, lunch and dinner would defiantly empty the house.
Not even having the company of Buyo, Kagome was about to lose it. Gathering her strength Kagome slowly got up off the bed, mindful of the wounds on her back, and sat at the edge of her bed.
“Inu Yasha, will you go to the store house and grab some of those plain wood bead bracelets Grandpa has.”
“Ya sure Kagome.” Not wanting to upset her and finally feeling useful Inu Yasha used the window to leave the house. Moments later he popped back in holding a small box of bracelets clearly marked $1.50 each. “These ones?”
“They will do. Thank you.”
Taking the box and looking inside Kagome picked two of each color before setting the box to the left of her.
“I want you to give a bracelet to each of the children and the last two too Sango and Miroku. If I'm right, they will be able to come to this side of the well. While your gone, I'll activate the barrier around the shrine so no one comes up the stairs, and they can cross over. While you're there…” Kagome stood and walked to her bathroom. Grabbing a large towel she took a marker and drew a symbol on it. “Put my other sword in this and wrap it up with some of Miroku's sutra's, bring it back with you. I'll need my backpack and if you could, get the cook to send some food back for me. I love Raman but I'm starting to get cravings.” Seeing her friend's crestfallen expressions Kagome quickly hurried to explain. “It's not like that Inu, all women get cravings when they are pregnant, Raman just isn't doing it for me anymore and I can never ask you to cook me something, let alone fight my own hormones to explain patiently the working of the household appliances.”
Inu Yasha let out a sigh and knew she was right. But in her ramblings he realized she was telling him to return to his era. “Kagome, what about you, what if something happens?”
“I'll be fine, no one can cross into this era because of the barrier. You can come back and forth, when you bring everyone with you my sword will let him or her pass. Pretty much the only people who can't pass are those with ill intent and…” Kagome couldn't bring herself to say his name.
“Alright, it'll take the rest of the day and we won't be back until probably late tonight if not tomorrow morning. Will you be able to take your bath and get something to eat?”
“Ya. I'm going to slip on one of mama's kimonos and place the warding on the shrine. I'm not hungry right now so I might not even eat. I've been on my stomach to long; it's starting to affect my eating habits. As for my bath, I think I'll just take a quick shower and go to bed.”
”Keh.” Trying to show he didn't care and failing, Inu Yasha lightly hugged Kagome and jumped from the window.
Kagome watched from her window as Inu Yasha checked the grounds before entering the well house. Felling his aura disappear Kagome smiled happy to be alone for a while.

Inu Yasha leapt out of the well and raced back to the castle. Tucking the bracelets into his sleeves and the towel in the opposite sleeve he pushed himself to run faster.
Half an hour later the castle walls were in sight and he growled at the sight that greeted him. Sesshomaru stood strong and regal looking healed and healthy. His father was next to the bastard clearly waiting for an update. Shippo was holding Rin's hand waiting with the Inu no Tashio. It was obvious Sesshomaru had been put in the dog house and disowned.
Smiling at the thought that came to mind Inu Yasha skid to a halt in front of his father ignoring Sesshomaru.
“Welcome back. Either things are well or grave. I expect well?” Inu Tashio motioned his youngest son to walk with him and the children.
“Kagome almost died. She's recovering slowly though. We got most of the poison out but there is still a lot in her body that is slowing the healing down. The pups are fine Kagome is beginning to show. My nose isn't strong enough to tell the sexes but her smell has taken on the full change of a pupped female. She has asked for me to return with her friends and all of the children. We will leave in the hour I would expect.”
Rin and Shippo both grinned and took off to prepare to leave.

Sesshomaru listened to his brother with the pain in his heart growing. So his mate wouldn't be returning. He couldn't blame her she probably hated him now. Knowing he had failed as a mate he walked away from his father and brother with what pride he could retain.

“Oi, bastard.” Inu Yasha called. Sesshomaru stopped but didn't turn around. “Kagome isn't coming back, if you haven't figured it out already. I'm not going to force her, and don't try and go to her. She maybe weak but her powers are still strong enough to keep you the fuck away from her. And if you try to go near her or the well, I'll kill you myself.”
“Then you will kill her too.” Inu Yasha heard the pain in his brother's voice and snorted.
“Because of you, when I got to her time she was in a pool of her own blood, your acid slowly eating away at her body. If not for her teaching me of her medicines, she would be dead. You may of bonded her life to yours but she belongs to the Gods. Not you, not me but them, do you really believe that if you died they would bring her with you? She is our savior. She walks in all the worlds with her head held high. You are a coward and a fool.”
Sesshomaru waited until his brother was finished with the truth before walking away.
Inu Yasha watched with his father as Sesshomaru walked away without a word.
“You should not mock him.”
“Keh, I haven't been with Kagome for the last week and a half. If you could see her…what his is suffering isn't enough. I have played the role of a bitch for her while she heals because she can't even go to the bathroom without crying in pain. She can only lay down and that can only be on her stomach, with the pups it is becoming impossible. Kagome never had a choice and now she is suffering. He didn't break her, but damned if I give him the chance to try again.”
“You maybe right son, but even we can not play the Gods. I saved Sesshomaru by asking the Gods to put them together. I gave Kagome her friends. The Gods humored me, but now that I have returned I have no idea what is next.” Looking at the horizon Inu Tashio rubbed his head. “Come, let us gather the children and prepare your departure. I expect you back at the end of the week?”
“Keh.”
“Hn.”
The conversation ended everything being said.

Kagome leaned heavily against the God tree. She had to use it as an anchor for the ward but so far it was holding well. Taking a minute to get her strength back Kagome stiffly walked back to the house.
“Kagome?”
Freezing in her footsteps, Kagome turned slowly to look at the man walking out of the shadows. He was tall, really, really tall. Towering over her by inches, his blue eyes held a guarded knowledge. Black hair fell to his shoulders in a choppy cut that emphasized his high cheeks and lips. Kagome looked him up and down out of caution and knew she was in trouble if they fought. The man could obviously bench press a car, but with his strength he was as small as she was easily.
“Who are you? What do you want?”
Kagome watched as the man raised his hands in the air to show he meant no harm.
“My name is Shisuki. I'm your son.”
Kagome stared in horror and curiosity at the man. Knowing she didn't have the energy to fight let alone run Kagome reached out with her aura and gasped when his and her aura almost matched. “This isn't happening.”
“I can't stay long. Uncle Inu will smell me if I stay long. I came to warn you. You have to return to the feudal era. I know you don't want to but you have to be at highest point in Japan at midnight in 16 days. I can't tell you what will happen but trust me on this one Mom.”
“I'm not going back. I'm sure you know why I'm here in the first place.”
“I do, and Father is sorry and will make it up to you in the future but everyone's lives depend on this Mom.”
Kagome growled, she knew somehow it wasn't a trap, but the thought of going anywhere where Sesshomaru could get to her pissed her off.
“I'll think about it.”
Knowing he couldn't win against his own mother, Shisuki bowed and turned to return the way he came.
“Before you leave, since I'll most likely be going back I want something in return.”
”Your happy, mom. Really, really happy. Everyone is here hiding out until the well closes. You'll be on the other side.”
“Oh.” Kagome turned for a second and in that second the man left.

Inu Yasha looked over the group waiting for Shippo and Rin to get the last child packed. Having told them to bring only enough clothes for the week, he was having fun telling the brats no to almost anything else, unless it was for Kagome.
“Done.” Shippo picked up his pack and two others.
“Alright brats, we're going to go visit Kagome but there are some rules I'm going to lay down. Kagome is still weak so she can't go around watching and playing with you all the time. We are also going to a place that smells and doesn't know about demons or hanyous, you are to stay within the barrier Kagome set up, if you have to go out for any reason you get Kagome or me first. No using weapons, attacks or tricks that will cause the humans to come see what's wrong. Kagome is risking a lot for you all to come visit, don't make her regret it. If you break any fucking rule, I'll make sure you'll never walk again.”
”Inu Yasha.” Sango gasped in horror and anger.
“My friend, I don't believe you have to be so rash.”
“Feh. Wait until you see her time, you'll understand.” Inu Yasha tucked his arms in his robes and turned to leave the castle grounds.
“You'd think Kagome would have opened a nice side of Inu Yasha by now.” Shippo muttered.
“I heard that.” Inu Yasha threatened.
“You were suppose to.” Shippo shot back hotly.
“Lowly half-breed.” Jaken muttered stumbling after Rin.

Kagome pulled on a pair of jeans and pulled on a bra hissing as it pressed into her back. Finally she pulled on a loose t-shirt and a pair of boots. Looking in the mirror she growled at the colored marks that she had to hide. Damn Sesshomaru to hell and back. Not wanting to spend the rest of the day putting make-up on Kagome returned to the box of bracelets and pulled a purple on out. Not that the color mattered any. Grasping it tightly in her hand Kagome poured a little of her miko powers into it and slipped it over her hand. Looking back in the mirror she smiled at the human version of herself. Dizzy from the spell Kagome waited for it to pass before grabbing her allowance money, her credit card and her license from the dresser.
Walking outside gripping the keys in one hand and shoving her money in her pocket with the other, Kagome went around the house and into the garage. Her mom had taken the car but thankfully had left the SUV. Climbing in and adjusting the seat, Kagome pulled out and headed down the street to the store praying Inu Yasha didn't come back anytime soon.

Inu Yasha walked ahead of the pack he led thinking about nothing in general.
“Inu Yasha, we need to stop for dinner.” Sango called knowing the children were tired of walking. Many of the older ones already carrying their siblings, Shippo had two on his pony form and Kirara had four on her back. Rin was on Miroku's back and Sango held the youngest baby. Jaken who had been complaining for most of the trip was even dragging behind.
“Feh.” Looking back Inu Yasha realized they were looking tired. The kids had obviously not said anything in hopes of getting to their foster mother faster but they looked about to fall over. “Alright but we head out in an hour again.” Knowing they wouldn't Inu Yasha stepped off the path and headed towards a clearing he knew of. They would have to continue in the morning.

Kagome lifted the last bag out of the trunk and reached up to slam it shut. Feeling the blood travel in rivulets down her back Kagome ignored it and trudged up to the house. Shopping bags covered the living room and kitchen, she was sure she had enough food for the week now. Hopefully Inu Yasha wouldn't be to mad. Pulling off the bracelet and tossing it up the stairs Kagome began the long task of putting the food up.
Once everything was in place Kagome pulled her shirt off and climbed the stairs headed straight for the bathroom for a quick shower and then bed.

Sesshomaru enter his study in hopes of figuring out some way to get his mate back. Falling into the chair he held his head in his hands.
“You could always just say your sorry.” Inu Tashio said from the window.
“You as well as this one knows that will not work.”
“No but it is a start.” Turning to look at his son Inu Tashio sighed. “When I mated your mother, I did something similar to what you did. She flirted publicly with peasants and made a fool of me. I beat her in front of the town she was in when I caught her leading a man to his home intent on bedding him. My anger took over and even though I had been just in my actions your mother locked herself away for many weeks. Finally a supervisor came to me and told me she was with pup and was trying to kill herself and it. Knowing it was to be my pup and my heir I did everything to make her happy. When you were born she tried it again, to kill you, but you proved immune to her poison, thankfully. Kagome is a good girl, she maybe naïve to our ways but she is special. Apologize and be gentle with her. Inu Yasha will give her a person to fall back on when you mess up, but go at her pace, even if it takes eternity, she will come around.”
“You babble old man.” Felling a headache coming on Sesshomaru stood and left heading to bed.
Inu Tashio watched his son leave. “You are more like me then you want to be.”

Kagome woke to the sun coming though her window. Birds were outside chirping and flutter around. Slowly getting up Kagome stretched surprised at not feeling the pain in her back. Reaching a cautious hand around she traced an area. Feeling nothing under her fingers Kagome stood and hurried to the mirror. Sure enough her back was healed.
“Thank the Gods, its healed finally.” Kagome muttered. Brushing her hair Kagome dressed placed her bracelet on and rushed downstairs. Grabbing an apple Kagome ate it hoping to run to the store again before Inu Yasha returned. Writing a note she rushed out of the house ignoring the car and down the steps.
Hurry to the bookshop Kagome entered it with a `hello'.
“Kagome?” Her friend poked her head out.
“Hello, Mrs. Eu.”
“Was your gift alright?” Kagome nodded.
“Ya my friend really like them. He's putting them to go use.”
“Well what do you need this time?”
Kagome looked around not really wanting to explain what she wanted. Sending her aura out Kagome felt it touch more then one book. She had never bought just one book and it looked like today wouldn't be any different.
Walking to a shelf Kagome pulled a worn book out of its spot and looked down at the cover. It was leather bound with only a single mark on the front. The pentagram looked raised on the cover or almost branded on the cover.
“Kagome. Those can be dangerous books.” Mrs. Eu, knew exactly what book Kagome had pulled. “You are a Shinto priestess, not a witch.”
Kagome looked down at the book still, ya sure she wasn't a witch but knowing the spells maybe she could change them to fit her powers. Then again it may just be a waste of time and money.
“I know how dangerous these could but and I know I'm not a witch, I'm not trying to be, but the Gods would still help me if I used them as more of a priestess. I mean hundreds of years ago priestesses used herbs for healing and prayed over the ill. This isn't much different, right?”
“You know it is completely different. What do you want those books for really Kagome. And don't lie to me.”
“Why because you can tell if I lie?” Smiling at herself Kagome placed the book back on the shelf. “I want them so I can study them. I think you know exactly who I am and what I am. I want the books to be able to stop any more witches and Gods know what taking either my soul or using someone I care about against me. I have almost 20 children to take care of. I won't let one of them get hurt because I was ill prepared.”
“Kagome. You are a good child. You were not destined to protect everyone.” Mrs. Eu sighed.
“No, I know that, that's why my sisters brother is dead. My best-friends ex-lover is dead and why I had to murder a man.” Kagome growled at the elderly woman, welcoming the anger rather then the pain.
“Everyone must die, it is the one thing we were promised when we were born.”
“Then why was I gifted with the knowledge of thousands of years, why was I asked to break so many rules?”
“Kagome.” Feeling bad for the girl, the woman stepped out from behind the counter. “No one knows the plan of the Gods. If we did then life would be pointless. They believe you are special. You are a strong and warm-hearted woman with a big heart and bigger soul. Destiny has picked you to protect so many people because your heart will care for them. Could you see anyone else doing what you do? Your school friends, could they take on the tasks that you have accomplished?”
”No, they couldn't.” Kagome began laughing at herself. “They would have run in fear or walked right into a trap. I could never wish my life on another.”
“But you wouldn't change it either.”
“No.” Looking up from the floor Kagome wiped away tears of laughter. “I'm sorry I got angry, I just haven't been able to talk to anyone for awhile.”
“Your family is proud of you. They would never ask you to go to college or help support them because you do more for them then you could ever imagine.”
“Ya mama told me that once.” Smiling to her Kagome hugged the elderly lady in front of her. “You know more then you're willing to tell me, but I'm sure you have a good reason. If you see my son give him a good hard hit on the head.”
Mrs. Eu laughed and agreed before letting the girl out of the shop.

Inu Yasha woke up the children just as the sun crested the horizon. He was eager to get back to Kagome before lunch. Sango and Miroku packed the camp while Shippo and Rin woke the kids.
“Kitchero. Why do you always get dirty at the most inconvenient times?” Sango picked up the baby bull hanyou. “Inu Yasha, we have to give him a bath before we leave.” Sango called to the hanyou.
“Feh, just hurry up, we can make it to the well by lunch if you don't fool around.”
Hurrying with Shippo to the stream near by Kagome bathed the baby and dressed him in a new set of robes.

Kagome took the stairs two at a time hoping Inu Yasha hadn't arrived. Thankfully he hadn't. Looking around the empty shrine Kagome felt a pang of loneliness. Her family had left without her while she was in the feudal era with an asshole who didn't understand what he didn't want to. Looking over at the God tree Kagome climbed over the rope and sat against the wood. Closing her eyes she fell into a meditation.

Inu Yasha let out a relieved sigh as Kyade's village came into view. They hadn't been attacked but the fear of it weighed heavy on his mind.
“Inu Yasha, I think it would be a good idea to check on Kyade while we pass through.”
“Feh.” Trying not to show his own concern Inu Yasha led them towards the village.
“Uncle Inu, is this momma's village?”
“No runt, this is mine. Kagome lives farther away.” Not looking back Inu Yasha led the group into the village. Tension from the kids went up by ten-fold when villages started to move towards them.
“Lord Inu Yasha, it is good to have you back at last. Lady Sango, Lord Miroku it is an honor.” The village elder greeted. Inu Yasha shook hands with him and patted the old man gently on the back. “Whom are these children?”
“They belong to Kagome, of course. We're headed to the well.”
Mutters started but none were bad. The kids listened intently hoping to learn more about their strange mother.
“She is so kind.” “These children are so cute, Kagome is lucky to have them to herself.” “I wish Lady Kagome would return, I miss hearing of their travels.” Other comments followed.
The two oldest children exchanged looks before silently agreeing they were in no harm.
“Well then we will not keep you all long. One thing though before you leave, recently we have had a neighboring kingdom's soldiers coming through, they are becoming more aggressive with each group.”
The elder didn't have to say more. “Alright, I'll get a few guards to come down and get rid of the troops. It may take a few days.”
”Thank you Lord Inu Yasha.” The two embraced and Inu Yasha led everyone to Kyade's hut on the edge of the village.
“Kyade?” Sango poked her head into the hut and looked around. The herb basket was gone and so was the old woman. “She's out looking for herbs or tending someone.”
“Alright, we got to get to the other side so I'll check on her later. Jaken, go back to the castle with Kirara and bring some guards down here. By the time you return I'll have Kagome back you a way to cross over also.”
“You can not order me around half-breed.” Jaken threatened shaking his staff.
“Master Jaken. Please do not fight with Lord Inu Yasha.” Rin pleaded wanting nothing more then to see Kagome.
“Silence Rin.” Jaken snapped staring Inu Yasha down.
Sango tapped Miroku on the shoulder who helped her usher the children under the trees for a rest. Passing around the water they all watched the stare down.
“Keh.” Inu Yasha stood his full height and looked down at the toad. “Do as I say, or I'll make sure to forget your name when Kagome makes more bracelets.”
“You don't even know if the bracelets work half breed.” Jaken countered, knowing the secret of the well.
“Kagome spelled them each so that they would work. I trust her.” Inu Yasha sneered hoping Kagome wouldn't let him down.
Jaken thought for a second but know he had lost. He too trusted his Lady.
“Keh.”
Kirara stepped forward in her larger form and picked up the sulking toad.
“I'll be back tomorrow night so you can cross. If you're not there I'll leave them with Kyade.” Kirara nodded and took to the skies.

Kagome pulled the pot of Raman off the stove and poured it into a bowl. The hairs on her arms and neck were standing on end and she could barely stand still. It wasn't a bad feeling, actually it was the opposite, and Kagome didn't have to be psychic to know Inu Yasha was on his way. The feeling hadn't started until maybe an hour ago. Looking at the clock and knowing her best-friend Kagome hurried to make lunch. Looking at the food laid out Kagome counted the people out in her head. She was having problems counting the new kids she had adopted considering she felt like she was always missing someone.
A pulse that echoed over the grounds caused Kagome to shiver and rush out of the house towards the well.
Inu Yasha was just pulling Sango out of the well when Kagome threw open the door and rushed inside.
Sango smiled happily at her sister and lightly embraced Kagome.
“I've missed you.” Kagome hugged.
“You look good, Kagome. How are your wounds?”
Inu Yasha watched Kagome a little worried and confused, she smelt healed. No longer of poison and blood, but of her natural scent, plus the pups.
“All healed. I woke up this morning and had no marks, scars, bruises or pain. I'm not going to question it either.” Kagome hugged her friend and turned to Inu Yasha. “Where is everyone else?”
”Keh, hold your horses wench, Miroku is sending them over in pairs. I'm here with Sango to help them out of the well.”
“Ok, well I made lunch for everyone and I figured the kids would be more comfortable if we set up the sleeping bags outside for the first couple of days.”
”Keh.” Kagome rolled her eyes but smiled as the well revealed two children.
“Hand me up Kitchero, will you Shisuki. That way the others can come too. We don't want you getting stuck.” Sango took the baby while Inu Yasha lifted the oldest boy out of the well. Kagome stared for a moment before taking them both in her arms.
