It was about 4 in the morning when the first cries filled the air. Kagome had placed many barriers including one that blocked any scents, so much to all three Inu’s anger they didn’t know what the sexes of the pups were.
Kagome had been all but silent except for the heavy breathing and groans.
“Momma will have to deal without puppy ears.” Kagome teased.
All demonic ears turned towards Kagome. Inu Yasha sat over the front door. His ears turning almost fully backwards. Inu Tashio stood on the chimney looking out over the city. He too listened intently for any hopes over knowing what his grandchildren were like. Sesshomaru remained looking forward, he had to gain Kagome’s trust back and he’d wait patiently for her to acknowledge him first.
“Have you thought of names yet?” Sango asked holding a pup clad in a white towel. She cooed and played with the little clawed hand. Kagome watching her intently.
“Can I see?” Kagome reserved her strength knowing it would be a long day.
Sango handed the pup over to Kagome. The towel was pulled away more to reveal an almost exact copy of Sesshomaru. The pale skin was marked with red and blue veins of color. On the middle of the forehead was a crescent moon facing up rather then to the side. Kagome smiled and hugged the pup closer to her breast. She knew somehow the pup was hungry and this was what should be done so that later in life, the pup would know its mother.
“I think Ichero, is a good name.” Kagome continued to smile as the pup began to feed.
“It is a strong name. However the next pup is cresting, why not allow Lord Sesshomaru to hold him while we wait for the next pup?”
Kagome bit her bottom lip and thought about it. Her beast had been right about him having to be here before but damned it if she still didn’t hate him.
“Sango open the window.” Sango nodded and did as told. “Sesshomaru you can come in.” Kagome held Ichero tightly and protectively.
Sesshomaru climbed cautiously in the window hoping to see the first look at his new son.
Kagome looked the demon over and resigned her self. Handing the pup over cautiously she grabbed a blanket and covered herself.
“Should we go for a minute?” Sango asked.
“Ya, why don’t you and Kyade go get something to eat and drink. I’ll be fine for a few minutes.” Kagome leaned back on the pillows and let her tight muscles relax.
Sesshomaru held the pup and unwrapped him a little to see more of his markings.
“Thank you.”Kagome looked over at the demon and rolled her eyes.
Placing a barrier Sesshomaru let out a sigh. “I mean it Kagome. Thank you. I had the chance to kill them and you didn’t. You had a chance to make them full human, but instead you gave me a full-blooded son. Our first pup is a son.” Kagome could tell he was happy but she couldn’t find it in her to care about him.
“Look, there is only a very little chance for me to forgive you and nothing you say is going to change how I feel. I appreciate what your trying to do but you fucked up Sesshomaru. If things weren’t like they are you wouldn’t even be here, you wouldn’t even know. If I could I’d lock the well forever with everyone I love on this side and leave you alone for 500 years. You hurt me, more then Inu Yasha ever has, more then Kikyo, more then Naraku hurt everyone put together. I have pups to look out for now, I have them and myself to take care of. These four pups and those hanyou pups outside are my life now, and right now there is no place for you and I’m not going to try and make room either. I let my guard down to give you a chance, I let everyone talk me into trusting you, but I have to think about the pups first, not how I’m not going to do something wrong or how I’m going to survive another day. I just can’t, not anymore.”
Sesshomaru felt himself being torn in two. Her words were cutting at the stab wound he already had. It felt like someone had ripped off his skin and pushed him in a salt pile. Gathering his wounded pride her looked down at his mate and turned away from her accusing gaze.
“May this Sesshomaru remain? It is your customs is it not?”
“My beast is different then regular Inu, she believes it will help me through the births, you may remain but don’t get in the way.”
“Thank you.” Sesshomaru took up a post near the head of the bed below the window. He sat holding his son like it was his only life line. Kagome watched him nuzzle his son and scent mark each other.
Looking at the ceiling she closed her eyes and let everything go.
You are doing well. We are on the way to balancing out the problems of the world. You will continue to show the people what is needed to survive. As you know you have survived long enough to reach your current time, but many things can change, we are unaware of many things in your future.
Kagome let the feeling of peace flood her as she stood before the Gods. “My Lords and Ladies, thank you for your blessing, what would you have of me?” Bowing Kagome waited to know what to do.
You have been unable to train due to your pups, we will allow you the time to birth them but much is to be discussed. A new threat is in the near future. The evil hanyou will seem kind compared to what has been foretold.
“Thank you for the warning, what will I be learning next?”Kagome never got her answer as she was kicked out from the Gods domain and thrown into a blinding pain.
“That wasn’t nice.” Kagome muttered to the power charged air.
“Kagome, are you alright?”
“Fine, Gods just gave me an update.” Groaning she arched off the bed at the pain. The pup on its way felt like it was pulling her organs and clawing at the walls of her internal body.
“Almost there child, ye need to relax.” Kyade waited for the pup to come further out while Sango held Kagome down so she wouldn’t hurt her or the pup.
“I’m going to be sick.” Kagome gave one hard push and rolled to her side throwing up only blood.
“Kagome!” Sango cried lost at what to do.
“Slayer, she is well.” Sesshomaru looked up from the pup in his arms.
“Fuck you.” Sango growled before placing a cool towel on her friend.
Kagome fought past the darkness building in her vision.
“It is a girl, she is much like ye Kagome.” Kyade praised wiping the baby clean and placing her in a pink towel.
Kagome looked weakly up at the ceiling. “I need a break.”Kyade laughed. “Ye pups are persistent on seeing ye’s world. Ye must push again for ye’s next pup is already coming.”
“Kyade I can’t.” Kagome felt the energy seeping out of her, she needed just five minutes then she could continue.
“Come on Kags, just a little more.” Sango encouraged.
Kagome straightened out her body and let Kyade move everything into place. Clearing her mind and taking a claming breath she focused. The room was stuffy as it was even with the window open. The Gods literally hovered over them, Sesshomaru’s power pushed at hers in a suffocating manner. Then with Sango right at her side Kagome looked past it all in hopes of finding one small space of peace.
“Child, ye must come back to us.” She heard Kyade’s vice chi.
“Kags?” Sango hesitantly touched her skin, Kagome felt the touch and the pain but it was so distant.
One arm was draped over her bulging stomach and the other lay at her side. She had nothing to cover her body as each pup flowed from her body. The towel she had used to hide away from Sesshomaru had been burning in a flood of power.
“Kagome!” Dozens of voices cried as the power crested and as two pups lay in a puddle of blood. Kyade quickly tended the two and wrapped them up passing them to Sango and Sesshomaru. The room was filled with four crying pups.
Kyade checked Kagome and looked completely destroyed when she got no response at all from the young girl.
“She has passed.” Kyade knelt and prayed.
“Kagome? Kagome, come on wake up. Look a girl and three boys. They are all so beautiful, wake up, please.”
“She will sleep.” Sesshomaru took the two crying pups he held and held them in one arm. Grabbing his mate in the other he ordered the bed to be stripped and remade. Sango handed over the two pups she held and quickly stripped the bloody sheets from the bed laying down fresh ones. Sesshomaru placed Kagome down and then the two pups at her side. Kyade followed his example and placed the other two on her other side. The crying instantly stopped.
“Leave us.”
“Look here, Sesshomaru, you have no right to boss us around.”
“This one is aware, however Kagome has enter a trance like state to regain her energy faster. I will watch over her and share my energy while the pups keep her grounded. My father and Inu Yasha will protect the outer perimeter. Your monk has stabilized the barriers. This one feels that we are safe enough. This one is of no danger to his mate and pups this night.”
“You say that and Kagome can mutter one word in her sleep and you could snap and kill her, I don’t think so.” Sango leaned against the wall near the door and crossed her arms.
“Very well.” Sesshomaru moved to stand next to the bed. Looking down at his new family once more he took a seat waiting and protecting.
Kagome felt the world around her. Each energy source was glowing in its own aura. Floating in between worlds she let her body just be.
You have entered the world humans call limbo and you do not worry. You are a strage creature.
Kagome opened one eye to look down at a small koala demon. “I am but passing through. I will return to my world when I am strong enough to.” Kagome closed her eyes and giggled.
Hey wake up. Once you’re here you don’t go back, stupid human. Your stuck here until your ready to pass on into the next reincarnation.
“Nope, nope, nope. I’m just resting here. Besides if I were staying then I wouldn’t be in this world right now, I’d be before the Gods. I’m supposed to go train tomorrow. You see I just had four pups and I’m tired so if you don’t mind id like to meditate.” Kagome leaned back more in her floating state.
Humans these days.
“Human Inu actually. My mate turned me into what he is, some ritual that Mideriko knew about. Speaking of which I need to talk to her about if there is more I can learn about. So much to do, so little time. Well not really, I have eternity if people would stop trying to kill me. Hey do you know where we are?” Kagome sat up and crossed her legs still hovering above the ground.
I told you human we are in between the living world and the dead.
“Then why does it look like feudal Japan. It looks like we’re in Inu Yasha’s forest. Hey the God tree should be this way.” Kagome rolled over and pushed off the air. She floated almost like an angel over the land.
Inu Yasha knew who was coming up the stair even before they had reached the top. Leaving his post he headed towards the East stairs.
“Oh, Inu Yasha I didn’t expect you here!” Mrs. Higurashi smiled taking and hugging the boy.
“Keh, Kagome is asleep but she brought everyone to visit and get away from the bastard who is now here with the old man.” Inu Yasha tucked his arms in his sleeves.
“Oh well, who is everyone dear?”
“All of Kagome’s runts and the group. Things got pretty bad for a while. Most of us have been here for a week or so. Kagome said you wouldn’t be back for a while though, did something happen?”
“Oh no of course not dear, I came to check on things. A neighbor who was suppose to be looking after the shrine called and say he didn’t like the feelings he got when he tried to come over.””Keh, Kagome placed a barrier to keep everyone away. It’s been up for awhile.”
“Oh, well why don’t you introduce me to everyone. I’ll be staying here for a couple of days then I’m catching a plane back to Souta and Dad.””Hey dum-dum. Lord Inu Tashio said your in trouble for abandoning your post.” Shippo raced to where Inu Yasha stood with a woman.
Shippo looked at the woman a second before running as fast as he could crying, “GRANDMA!!!”
Inu Yasha barely caught the fox kit by the tail as he flew straight for the unsuspecting woman at his side. “Damn it Shippo, she’s not like Kagome. You’ll really hurt her if you do that. Go tell the old man to pull his sword out of his….””Inu Yasha!” Inu Yasha flinched and lowered his ears to his head.
“Sorry, Mrs. H.”
Mrs. Higurashi took the fox kit from Inu Yasha’s abusive hold. “I bet your Shippo my Grandson. Kagome has showed me pictures of you and is always talking about how much she loves you. I love your drawings.” Mrs. Higurashi smiled holding the kit in her arms. “Since Inu Yasha is being himself why don’t you show me all of Kagome’s friends.””Ok Grandma, Kagome’s asleep with the new pups and the basta…Sesshomaru watching over them.” Catching himself Shippo looked over his shoulder.
Mrs. Higurashi let out a sigh. “What did he do this time to get everyone against him?”
“Keh, the bastard almost killed Kagome.”
“Oh non-sense. He can’t do that from what he said, when we talked.””Well he did, he beat up Momma and then they got into a fight and Kagome didn’t have the power to stop him and the bastard kept beating her and no one could stop him because he but up a barrier and Kagome couldn’t stop it and she was bleeding and he kept hurting her and they he stopped and she told him to go to hell and everyone felt the same way and then Kagome disappeared and came here and we all ignored the ass-hole while he was sick and the nice nurse told everyone he was so weak because Kagome was sick and if he died then Momma would also be dead but he got better because Inu Yasha came here and took care of kagome and then Inu Yasha came and got us and we got to come here and play and Kagome’s going better but really early this morning she started having pups and then Inu Yasha had to go get Sesshomaru or Kagome was going to get sicker and Lord Inu Tashio came too so that we were all protected and Miroku took over the barriers because Kagome is so weak and now we’re waiting for Kagome to wake up because she’s asleep and tired and Sesshomaru is being watched while he watches Kagome and the new pups because no one trusts him and Sango is with them too because she wants to kill him and everyone things that if he dies Momma won’t die because the Gods have been trainging her and they said that Kagome will save everyone.” Shippo took a deep breath and continued to look over his shoulder at the older woman.
Mrs Higurashi let out a sigh and processed the single sentence of information the kit had told her. “So? Are Kagome and Sesshomaru….uhh...friends again?”
“Grandma, didn’t you hear me, everyone wants to kill Sesshomaru even Kagome cause he’s a bast…”
“Ok ok I get it, his not being very nice to Kagome.”
“No he’s just being an ass-h…”
Mrs. Higurashi covered the kits mouth so that the rest was a jumbled mess. Inu Yasha was holding his forehead with one hand grumbling under his breath. “Never a dull moment is there?” She joked.
“No ma’am. Come on I’ll introduce you to everyone. Right now we all look like humans except the bastard and the old man.”
Mrs. Higurashi let out a sigh, boy did see need a vacation again already.
Kagome floated to the God tree and placed a hand on it feeling its warmth crawl up her hand and into her body.
Human! You are not suppose to touch the tree of ages! Get your filthy hands off of there.
Kagome let the energy fill her completely before removing her hand. “Look since you seem to be bothered by me so much I’m leaving.” Kagome crossed her arms and returned to the world where she sensed her body.
Kagome could hear the children laughing outside with each other. Four little auras were nessled into her sides, without opening her eyes she know they were her pups. She also knew Sango was near the door and Sesshomaru was at her side. Taking a quick count of all the auras she counted an extra, reaching out she felt her mother’s aura respond.
Snapping her eyes open she took great care in getting up as so not to disturb her pups.
“Kagome, you alright?” Sango asked mindful of the pups.
“Ya, im great, back to normal for the most part.” Touching her stomach she smiled at the smooth flesh, evidently her body had taken care of itself.
Calling on her power to fly Kagome left her bed lightly, but flinched as her pups began to whine. Dressing quickly in jeans and a t-shirt she landed in front of Sesshomaru at the side of the bed, ignoring him and she grabbed two of the fussing babies. Sango jumped in and grabbed the other two.
“Lets go see why my Mom is back, I thought she was on vacation.”
Kagome left the room leading everyone downstairs and outside. Kagome looked down at the towel wrapped babies in her arms and smiled. The two she held had been the last two born. They were obviously identical twin. Looking over at Sango her smile grew at the other two pups, one was Ichero the other one she had yet to name. The little girl was more her skin color with silver hair. She had green markings and deep blue eyes.
“Tsukiko.” Kagome muttered.
“Did you say something Kagome?””My baby girl, Tsukiko.”
“Moon child? I think that is a good name.” Sango smiled and bounced the girl on her left side.
“Kagome? What are our last two sons names?”
Kagome looked over her shoulder at Sesshomaru. She could tell he was treading lightly so not to piss her off, but she just didn’t want to deal with him.
Looking down again at the twin boys she looked deeply into their eyes. Both had black hair as dark as hers. One set of eyes was amber while the other set was sapphire blue. Neither pup had markings but Kagome couldn’t see their full bodies.
“Kazuhiko,” she said looking at the blue-eyed twin, “and Takeo,” looking at the amber eyed twin.
Sango nodded. Kagome could feel Sesshomaru’s happiness soar behind her, while she knew he would never show it, she could somehow feel it, but below the happiness was a festering pain, one she didn’t want to think to hard on.
The children came into view as they turned the corner of the house. It was obvious they were playing tag by the sight over everyone running around avoiding Mrs. Higurashi. Inu Yasha had Rin on his back playing along, the little girl laughing and almost crying. Miroku sat against a building laughing at everyone. He looked over when Kagome led her group over.
“Lady Kagome, it is a surprise to see you up and around.”
“Hey Miroku. I’m fine, I just needed to meditate, I have a question for you later though about that.”
“Anything you need.” Miroku smiled. “Are those the new additions?” He leaned over one of the pups Kagome held. Behind Kagome, Sesshomaru let out a warning growl.
“Oh shut up Sesshomaru.” Kagome snapped. “Here Miroku, why don’t you that the twins while I talk to my mom.” She passed the two little bundles to her friend and walked over to the game.
Shippo raced by her and Kagome grabbed him by the tail tossing the kit into the air and catching him. “Kagome!” He cried hugging her when she pulled him to her chest. The game paused and everyone turned towards their friend.
“Hey everyone.” Kagome greeted. “Hi Momma.” Setting Shippo down she embraced the older woman.
“It is good to see you, Shippo told me a quick version of what has happened in the last few weeks. Are you alright?”
“Ya I’m great. Inu took care of me. You have you Grandbabies finally so you’ll stop nagging me for the most part. My kids are safe and the Gods are giving me a break for a day then its back to training.”
“I have Grandkids? I thought it was just one?”
“Ya so did we until about a week or so ago. It’s cool though, everything is fine.”
“Well you shouldn’t be up, you should be resting.” Mrs. Higurashi chide.
“But Momma, I’m fine, I have to go shopping again.”
“What for?”
“Baby stuff, but I’m wondering if that’s such a good diea since the four of them will grow so fast. Hey Tashio, you think you can get me some of the nifty fire rat fur?”
“I will be difficult but not impossible.”
“Good, off you and Sesshomaru go.” Kagome motioned to the well house.
“Kagome.” The elder jumped from his perch on the roof and landed feet from her. “You can’t just keep ignoring us or calling us when you need something then ignoring us. Sesshomaru and I are not your dogs.”
“I know but you’re the ones who put yourselves in the dog house. Besides I think I should get a little something, I mean I brought you back to life and Sesshomaru has his heir. And wasn’t it you who convinced the Gods to pair us up to save his life, which in turn has almost ruined mine.” Kagome started the older male down without fear, she knew she couldn’t win a fight against him but she know that magically she could defend herself if not hurt him back. “You lecture me about my duties but you don’t know a damn thing because once you came back to the living you stopped being the Gods pet. I know that in 12 days I have to be on the other side at a certain location to do some more crap. I have my own contacts, so don’t act like your in charge because the Gods told me everything is on my shoulders, I think they have more credit then you do considering you tried to capture me like food and force me into doing shit I don’t want to. And another thing, I hardly see how you can call yourself the Inu no Tashio since the title died when you did, and because you didn’t pass it on, Sesshomaru can’t take it even if he is of age. Which lead me into thinking that I’m in the crap pile because I have to pick up everyone’s mess and get the world back in balance so that what you see now is what really happens. So I would appreciate a little space and a hell lot more credit.”
Inu Tashio stared down at the girl in front of him and snarled. “You are only 19 years old, you little bitch. I have lived for centuries, I have died and seen the other side, you don’t know what you play with when the Gods train you.”
“I have died too, more then you have. I’ve had my heart ripped apart, I’ve hit rock bottom and I’m still here, I’m still standing. I died every time Inu Yasha ran away with Kikyo and came back lying about it. I died when half my soul was ripped from my body to animate a clay body of who everyone thinks was my reincarnation. Who by the way was never anywhere near my family line because I come directly from Mideriko’s line, Kikyo and I have nothing to do with each other except that were look alike. And the sad part is that she came back so angry because she was ripped away from the life she was meant to have. Do you realize that when you pull a soul back into the era that it originated from the current body it inhabits stops existing! So by tearing her soul back into the past the life she was living in this era as her reincarnation, died! Kikyo had it perfect but when I was mistaken for her reincarnation and used to bring her back the real girl that was her reincarnation died! And I blame you, Inu no Tashio, because you just had to set me up with Sesshomaru, and you knew that he or his beast wouldn’t see me fit unless I was a warrior in my own way and in his way. I don’t know what the hell you did to twist my life because my life is what I have lived so far, but I’m glad you stuck on this side so that you can stop fucking it up.”
“I did what I had to so that my line would go on! The way things were going Sesshomaru was to die because of the God’s will. Inu Yasha would and should have died, but his mother interfered when she died. She cast a spell with her life so that nothing would happen to him until he was old enough to protect himself. Sesshomaru took my actions as trying to save him so he risked everything to protect Inu Yasha. If not for Izayoi he would be dead like he should be.”
Many of the people in the courtyard gasped in horror. Kagome snarled and flexed her power. Flinging her arm in front of her she threw a whip of power at the elder effectively slicing his face. The sheer power of it knocked the man hundreds of years away. “It’s a good thing you’re not his father. As for Izayoi, may she be resting in peace; she is his blood family, but fuck you if you think that every single person standing here doesn’t think of him as family. Inu Yasha is a good man, and I love him. He has been there for me, he has protected me, fought for me, killed for me, and is my best-friend. I trust him with my life. You are a fool, to think that your sons can’t handle themselves. It is your interference that has fucked up everything. It is your fault that your sons believe they have to be bigger and badder then everyone around them. You left Sesshomaru, you abused his mother and killed her for doing what any frightened woman would do, you treated him like shit because you couldn’t take her betrayal. Then when you met Izayoi you thought she’d be easier to push around, and maybe she was or maybe you really did love her, but Inu Yasha was born and the shit hit the fan and you died before you could handle anything, she raised him and the way I see it you have no right to call him your son because if I was him you sure as hell wouldn’t be my father.”
Inu no Tashio stood on unsteady feet. He wiped at the blood coming from the purified whip mark. Turning towards the group that had formed behind the woman accusing him he snarled.
“You all side with her? Even my own blood?”
No one said a word because nothing needed to be said. Kagome was breathing hard from her anger but not even a pup dared cry.
“If you attack any of us, or try to harm us, I will kill you.” Kagome stood taller and pulled her power around her to create a visible haze. Sesshomaru stepped up and placed a hand on her shoulder mending his power with hers. Together their power created a blue fog that swept over the courtyard.
“You step to far, bitch.”
“Maybe so, but you aren’t the first and you won’t be the last. I don’t fit in anywhere, that’s why I am who and what I am. Obviously you have a problem with it.”
“Kagome?” Mrs. Higurashi went to reach out but Inu Yasha grabbed her hand and silently shook his head no. He motioned them all away from the on coming battle and handed Mrs. Higurashi his fire rat.
Turning he walked out to stand with Kagome and Sesshomaru.
“My sons and their bitch. How ironic.””I don’t see the irony in your death.” Sesshomaru replied.
Inu Yasha drew his sword and tossed it across the courtyard. “I don’t need your shit anymore. I’m strong enough on my own and I have my friends to watch my back.”
Sesshomaru follow suit and threw his healing blade so that it landed on the Tetsiga. “I too am no longer in need of your fang.”
Inu Yasha placed his hand on Kagome and let his power flow with hers. The fog became denser and began curling into itself and growing to waist height.
“One of you will die here today.” Then Inu Tashio was done in the fog.
Inu Yasha jumped off. Sesshomaru went to opposite way but Kagome stayed standing and not moving.
“Come to me, Mother and Father. I ask you in my time of need to light my path.” Closing her eyes Kagome let her power flow from her and floated into the air. Once she stood at the top of the wispy fog as began to spin, it started out like a pirouette and soon her own momentum was carrying her. Folding her arms over her chest she lifted her left hand slowly over her head. A single bead of power grew enveloping her in a thin wire. Then in a breath of air the fog was gone and Inu Tashio stood out in the open defenseless.
Sesshomaru attacked from the right as Inu Yasha swept in at the left grabbing the shocked man and forcing him still.
Kagome let the power grow before lining up her attack, in honesty she really didn’t know what the hell she was doing other then spinning but her body was acting on it’s own. Trusting the feeling she waited the few extra heartbeats before stopping and landing. The thread of power curled around her feet in a lazy pile.
“You have two choices, you can either play nice and I just lock you in a dungeon or you say something stupid and try something even stupider and I have to kill you. So what are we going to do?”
“You need me, you can’t kill me.” Inu Tashio fought his sons’ grasp.
“Why are men so dense? Take him back to Endo, no one here needs to hear him die.” Kagome threw her arm and the little rope of power uncurled from around her feet and flew towards the group of men, but neither Inu Yasha nor Sesshomaru moved as the energy passed through them and wrapped around their captive creating a cocoon. It was only seconds later before the muffled screams could be heard.
Inu Yasha threw the bundle over his shoulder not effected by the purifying energy. “I’ll take him to the other side and come back when he shuts up.” He then hopped off and into the well house.
Sesshomaru watched with an emotionless face. It wasn’t until he say Kagome bend over herself breathing hard that he hurried to her side to see if anything was wrong.
“I’m sorry Sesshomaru. I’m so sorry.”
“Do not be, you are right in your assumption that he was not our father. We have no father, I believe your mother explained it to me that he would only be a sperm donor. And by being this sperm donor it does not make him our father”
Kagome looked up through her hair in horror. When had her mother said that? It was scary that Sesshomaru had said what he had but even scarier that he knew what it meant and had meant to be funny. Kagome let the shock wear off before she smiled and began laughing.
“Anyways, I think we’d better calm my mom down.” Wrapping an arm around his waist Kagome leaned heavily on Sesshomaru.
“Are you well?”
“Whatever that last attack was took a good chuck of my power. It’s going to suck if I need more power then what I have in 12 days.”
“Hn.” Looking at the woman leaning on him he elegantly swooped and picked her up.
“Is this really necessary?” Kagome sighed.
“You will need to transform to feed our pups, if this will help save your strength then I will tend to you.”
“Hn.” Kagome rubbed her head.
“Kagome!? Are you alright? What just happened?” Mrs Higurashi let go of Rin and rushed to her daughter.
“I’m fine mother, just tired. Sesshomaru will explain anything you have questions on, but I have to feed our pups. I love you, but I can’t even begin to explain this mess to you.”
“Oh I know that I couldn’t possibly figure out your life I just want to know where you got such a potty mouth?”
“Honestly I don’t know, I guess it just comes with having to take care of everyone and being nice stops working. I’ll watch my language.”
Mrs. Higurashi sighed and let her daughter enter the house.
Sesshomaru carried Kagome up to her room and laid her on the bed. Sango and Miroku came in and paid the pups on the bed beside Kagome.
“We’ll be downstairs, if you need anything just call.”
“Thanks guys.” Kagome smiled and waited till they left before sitting up to undress.
Sesshomaru watched Kagome like a hawk. “You know, there really isn’t a point for you to be here.”
“This one is aware, however you have already broken many of our traditions. I wish to know and watch some of these new procedures. It is odd for this one, these new things.”
“Is that how your always going to see me? The person who breaks all the rules she can?”
“I did not say that Kagome.”
“No but it was unspoken.” Kagome pulled her energy around her and shifted into a much smaller version of her demonic form. Lying on her side she nudged her pups to her stomach when they started to feed.
Sesshomaru watched her tender care a few moments before shifting himself into a dog and crawling onto the bed to lay behind her.
Kagome rolled her eyes and watched her pups. So involved in then she yipped when Sesshomaru’s tongue licked her neck. All four pups stopped and looked at her afraid they had hurt her. Kagome licked each one and pushed then closer to her belly. Each pup slowly began feeding again.
You surprised me.
Our pups thought they had hurt you.
No, not yet anyway, I’m sure they will when they get teeth or if they start eating more and I get raw, but hopefully I’ll heal what damage they do.

Kagome laid her head on Sesshomaru’s stomach and closed her eyes. The pups one by one finished eating and drifted off the sleep with their parents.
Inu Yasha dropped his load roughly on the ground. He looked down a the being that claimed to be his father. Kagome’s power was squeezing the body it wrapped tightly. He could hear the screams of pain coming from the man, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care.
“You deserve much worse old man.”
Turning Inu Yasha left the glowing pink bundle deep in the woods far from any village or demon. If anyone did find it they wouldn’t be able to do anything for the man inside except listen to the cries as he died.
Sango checked in on Kagome when dinner was ready. She smiled at the two dogs that were passed out and the four babies that were sleeping against the black fur of their mother. It was a picture perfect moment that Sango knew Kagome would want. Sneaking out she grabbed Kagome’s camera from the backpack and snuck back up stairs. Quickly clicking the picture she shut the door and let the family be.
Kagome groaned and covered her face with a paw trying to shield her eyes from the sun pouring into her window. Under her something moved pushing a pillow into the way of the light. Kagome looked over with sleepy eyes to flash a confused look at Sesshomaru.
You wish to continue sleeping do you not? It is your ritual.
Huh? Oh, sleeping in? Well is it safe to in your presents? Last time I tried to I almost got my throat ripped out.
Hn. This one and his beast will allow any of your wishes.
Kagome gave him a disbelieving look before turning to watch her pups. She could feel the Gods presents, Kagome waited from them to take her.
Standing in her human form Kagome looked around at her surroundings. Again she was in a new place. This place was beautiful. It was a natural rain forest covered in life.
“Wow.” Kagome smiled bending to touch some exotic flower.
You take interest in this place?
Kagome rubbed the flower petals with her fingers. “Oh yes, very much.”
What of your mate?
“I doubt he would like this place.” Kagome knelt taking a different flower in her hand.
“You are so sure of my likes Kagome. Surely you have learned this Sesshomaru respects his surroundings.” Sesshomaru’s voice cut deep into the air causing Kagome to spin and fall to her butt suddenly terrified. Looking at him Kagome watched his eyebrow raise at her fear.
The Gods watched the two in humor and interest.
“You only care about death and destruction. You’ve made that pretty obvious to me.” Kagome snarled standing and dusting herself off.
Sesshomaru sighed and dropped his offered hand.
“What do you wish of me my Ladies and Lords?” Kagome asked turning her back to Sesshomaru.
You will kill this place, turn it baron so that nothing will live here again.
Kagome looked towards the patches of light coming from the tree tops. “I can’t, I can’t do that. This place was born from your image, to kill it… I just can’t. Please don’t ask this of me.” Kagome dropped to her knees.

“I have killed many things, many people. Too many people died because of me, when Naraku gained part of the jewel, every person that suffered was my fault, he killed villages and it was my fault he had the power to do that. Then when I killed Lord Kitamarto, it was like you controlled me. I cannot kill anymore. Not if I have a choice.”
You are pure in everyway, our miko. You cannot continue to blame yourself for the deaths of many when we were the ones to create your destiny. For many to survive many have to die.
“Hn.” Sesshomaru placed a hand on his mate’s shoulder. “This one would like to know why he is here.”

“Hn. If it is your will.” Sesshomaru drew his sword and let loose his strongest attack. However only a small strip of the beautiful land was destroyed.

However the hanyou was correct, Lord, your life hangs by a thread, our Miko will no be effected in your death. You show us you are weak and uncounciled. Kagome woke and stretched. Her stomach was sore but looking down at her pups she realized they had feed again. Noticing her own hunger Kagome nudged then off her a little ways and stood. Ignoring Sesshomaru, she hopped off the bed and shifted.
The pups whined but Kagome grabbed the blanket at the end of the bed and created a nest for them. Sesshomaru stood and climbed off the bed. Changing Kagome left the room without saying anything. From what she could tell no one was home, not even her adopted children. Her mother must have taken them out or something.
“Kagome?”
“Hn?” Opening the fridge she pulled out a bottle of water and an orange.
“This Sesshomaru wishes to speak with you.”
“Isn’t that what we’re doing now? Talking?” Pulling out a chair she sat down at the table.
“It is so, however this one wishes to discuss what the Gods have said.””Is your pride hurt?” Kagome looked up from her orange. It wasn’t that she was really baiting him, but more along the lines of pouring salt on his wounds.
“No, it isn’t. However, this one feels that he owes you much Kagome. He has been unfair, cruel, and everything a mate should not be.”
“You’re just now figuring this out?” Kagome said dropping a peal.
“Kagome, I deserve everything you give me, but understand the way you grew up is not the way of my time. This world is nothing like I have seen. Women are equal, they provide for their family. There is no role for man, in this era. Even your businesses are run by women.”
“Keh, you haven’t seen the political systems.” Looking up she stared into his eyes. Something had broken in him. Weather it was anything important she didn’t really know.
“These systems, I know nothing of, but women run the houses, they provide, they care for those in need, in my view men have been pushed out of their roles. In my era, men are dominant. Here I cannot say the same. Please Kagome, you have given me chances, and I have destroyed them. All I ask for is one more. Allow me to show you I can adapt to this era.””It isn’t the era you have to adapt to it’s me. We have roughly 500 years to reach what you see today. And maybe, we don’t have to come as far as this, only human must come this far. I don’t really know what will happen, but you haven’t done a damn thing to help me. Each time I get caught in a situation that causes me to act out of your era I get punished. I don’t know any other way, and now you’ve been given two choices; adapt, or die. Sadly every culture is given that ultimatum. I have seen the past and this is the future, I don’t like either but you know what, I learn to deal, because if I don’t them I will die. When I first went to feudal Japan, I was dragged down the well and almost killed. I couldn’t defend myself; I couldn’t do anything but run. I freed Inu Yasha to save myself. And I could have made better choices at the time but I chose to survive and used what I had around me to do it. When I realized I had a duty there, I taught myself what I needed so that I wouldn’t die, ya I had to rely on my friends but having them was better then nothing. Four years, I have adapted, ya I kept up with this era’s needs, and I’ve had hopes of coming back and being normal, but this last year I realized I changed so much that I can never live here like everyone else. I have seen the horrors of death and carnage. I know demons exist. Here they are hidden so deeply I can’t sense them, do you know what that means? It means that I go back, and I show every demon, who’s willing to listen, what the hell they need to be ready for, because if any of them got dropped in this era, every single on of them would be dead. I have that to live with, I have blood on my hands and if I can’t help our people out, I’ll have more on them. Say your sorry, beg my forgiveness, but realize I can’t keep taking your shit. I haven’t broke yet, and the Gods say I’m still pure, but I sure as hell don’t feel like it.” Setting down her now peeled orange Kagome left the table and went outside.
Sesshomaru followed.
The grounds were empty; nothing was around, not even birds. Kagome looked around and sniffed the air hoping for a scent.
“Go inside Sesshomaru. Go check the pups.” Kagome walked off towards the God tree. Something was up, but she knew nothing would happen to them in her time, something about being here seemed peaceful.
“Everyone has gone shopping, nothing will disturb you, but your time here is coming to an end.” Shisuki called from his perch.
“I figured. What is that feeling in the air?”
“Probably the well calling to you. Not a lot of people know what went to when you crossed the final time. Dad and Uncle Inu said you crossed first because something felt wrong, but everyone crossed and then you came out last. No one knows, just be careful.”
“I know, but it’s hard to when you have little to nothing to go on.”
“Just expect the unexpected.””I seen a picture in one of the storage houses, it was a drawing of Inu Yasha, Sesshomaru and Inu Tashio I expect the old man isn’t dead?”
“I can’t say, Momma, but if I could I would say that everything will become clear in a few nights.”
“Ya ya, on Halloween. I have to be where again?”
“The highest point.”
Kagome thought about it for a minute. “Highest point is Mt. Hakuri. Wait, there is no way we can all make it there in a couple of days. It took weeks to get there the first time.”
“I never said everyone had to be there.”
Kagome let out a sigh and waved it off. “Fine.”
“Father is coming.” With that the male in the tree disappeared.
“Kagome who were you talking to this one felt another aura and heard voices?” Sesshomaru was calm as he approached his mate. She seemed calm from what he could tell but even that knowledge was wrong a lot of the time.
“No one of your concern.” Kagome turned at looked at the demon Lord. “Didn’t I ask that you watch over the pups?”
“You never took down the barrier, no one can enter the room. Not even I.”
“Hn.” Kagome turned away and headed towards the house.
“Who were you talking to?””I can’t say.” Kagome turned in her step to look at the demon Lord. “It’s one of those things that will mess up the time line if I tell you.”
“Hn.” He wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth or lying but he took her word for now.
Checking on her pups Kagome smiled from the door before shutting it and heading back down stairs. Sesshomaru leaned against the kitchen wall, arms crossed.
“You look like you want something.”
“This Sesshomaru, is only thinking.”
“Whatever.” Kagome didn’t believe him for one moment but she didn’t want to fight with him.
“What would you have of me Kagome? What would it take to have to believe in me again?” Sesshomaru fought not to sound defeated, but something deep inside he was broken and burning with pain, he didn’t like it.“We’ve talked about this it seems repetitive.” Kagome chide.
“This Sesshomaru has hurt you; he has broken the unwritten code of Mates. This one cannot begin to explain the things he has done wrong.”“Then don’t. I’ve told you hundreds of times and I’m not telling you again. Drop it.” Turning Kagome marched out of the kitchen and slammed the door as she left the house.
Pulling her bracelet from her pocket Kagome slid it on and headed down the stairs of the shrine. Her pups would be safe no doubt with Sesshomaru there, and if he did leave, she doubted her future self would let them be unguarded. Placing her hands behind her head she looked up slightly and just walked. No one seemed to be on the street today but as she turned down one of the main streets she found more and more people. Standing in front of a store she looked over as her refection, broken only when people passed in-between her and the window. Not even recognizing herself she let out a sigh and moved on. Halfway down the block a figure dropped down and landed at her side, keeping pace with her.
“Someone is going to notice you if you keep the up.” Kagome said looking out of the corner of her eye.
“It’s a chance I’ll take if it means I can spend time with you.”
“I’m your mother, why would you wanna do that?” Kagome teased.
“Because your still young right now, you in this era after 500 some odd years is a crabby pain in my neck.”“I’m supposed to be. It’s in the mother’s handbook.” Shisuki snorted but placed an arm around his mother’s waist. “You’ll get your scent on me.”
“Again, a risk I’ll take.”
“Your acting like I’m dead in this era.”
“No, just busy a lot. You have time for all of us, but it never feels like enough. And since you are here for a few more days before the well closes, and I’m the only one with permission to see you, I’m going to exercise that right.”“I’ll have to remind myself to beat you when this era comes around.” Kagome teased dropping her hands and poking him in the ribs a couple of times.
Shisuki laughed and tried to avoid her fingers but to no avail he lost the battle to her ticklish antics. “Momma.” He whined feeling like a pup.
“Shisuki.” Kagome mocked. She stopped poking him and placed her hands back on her head. “Fine I’ll behave, for now.” They both laughed and continued down the street.
“Sesshomaru’s being an ass, so I didn’t get to eat much. Wanna grab something with me?” Kagome offered seeing a little oden shop at the end of the street.
“Sure. I’ll have to go about 4. School gets out then and I gotta get the brats.”“Huh? Who’s brats?”
“Little bit of everyone’s, can’t say who’s done what but I will say you’re a grandmother….84 times over.”
“84? Well my mom should be pleased.”
“Some of them have ears like Uncle Inu’s. When the well closes for good, we’re planning on raiding the shrine.”“Ya well just don’t kill your Great-Grandfather.”
“Feh, no one is scared of the old man.”
“I didn’t say you should be afraid I said don’t scare him. And I think you’ve been hanging out with Inu Yasha to long.” Shisuki laughed. Kagome know she wasn’t even effecting him with her lecture but reached up to grab his human looking ear. The laughing quickly turned to a high-pitched yipe.
“I thought so. Now you listen here, I have no idea how the next 500 years go but you better watch over everyone for me. Shippo and Rin can’t do it by themselves, and I know that if Miroku and Sango made it this far they have enough perverts to deal with considering its Miroku we’re talking about. I’m sure in not too old to put you over my knee.”
“No Mother and you remind us often that you are still young.” Shisuki praised hoping she would let go of his abused ear.
“Good.” Pulling her son down just a little father she pecked him on the check and let his ear go.”“You sure as hell haven’t changed much.” She heard him mutter rubbing his ear.
“And I hope you remember, I’m not changing for anyone.” Kagome entered the diner and found an empty seat. Shisuki sat across from her and they ordered each a bowl of beef and vegetable oden.
Sesshomaru rubbed his face with his hands and let out a howl of anger. How had he ended up screwing up so bad? Surely things for other Lord such as him couldn’t be so difficult, but then again they didn’t have to put up with Kagome. The house was too silent as he stood in the kitchen. Something in his chest hurt, he had never felt anything like it before, even when he had been wounded.
Damn it. We will never be forgiven.
It would only be fair.

The internal conversation ended there. Sesshomaru walked around the kitchen for hours thinking, planning, even praying.

“Momma will have to deal without puppy ears.” Kagome teased.
All demonic ears turned towards Kagome. Inu Yasha sat over the front door. His ears turning almost fully backwards. Inu Tashio stood on the chimney looking out over the city. He too listened intently for any hopes over knowing what his grandchildren were like. Sesshomaru remained looking forward, he had to gain Kagome’s trust back and he’d wait patiently for her to acknowledge him first.
“Have you thought of names yet?” Sango asked holding a pup clad in a white towel. She cooed and played with the little clawed hand. Kagome watching her intently.
“Can I see?” Kagome reserved her strength knowing it would be a long day.
Sango handed the pup over to Kagome. The towel was pulled away more to reveal an almost exact copy of Sesshomaru. The pale skin was marked with red and blue veins of color. On the middle of the forehead was a crescent moon facing up rather then to the side. Kagome smiled and hugged the pup closer to her breast. She knew somehow the pup was hungry and this was what should be done so that later in life, the pup would know its mother.
“I think Ichero, is a good name.” Kagome continued to smile as the pup began to feed.
“It is a strong name. However the next pup is cresting, why not allow Lord Sesshomaru to hold him while we wait for the next pup?”
Kagome bit her bottom lip and thought about it. Her beast had been right about him having to be here before but damned it if she still didn’t hate him.
“Sango open the window.” Sango nodded and did as told. “Sesshomaru you can come in.” Kagome held Ichero tightly and protectively.
Sesshomaru climbed cautiously in the window hoping to see the first look at his new son.
Kagome looked the demon over and resigned her self. Handing the pup over cautiously she grabbed a blanket and covered herself.
“Should we go for a minute?” Sango asked.
“Ya, why don’t you and Kyade go get something to eat and drink. I’ll be fine for a few minutes.” Kagome leaned back on the pillows and let her tight muscles relax.
Sesshomaru held the pup and unwrapped him a little to see more of his markings.
“Thank you.”Kagome looked over at the demon and rolled her eyes.
Placing a barrier Sesshomaru let out a sigh. “I mean it Kagome. Thank you. I had the chance to kill them and you didn’t. You had a chance to make them full human, but instead you gave me a full-blooded son. Our first pup is a son.” Kagome could tell he was happy but she couldn’t find it in her to care about him.
“Look, there is only a very little chance for me to forgive you and nothing you say is going to change how I feel. I appreciate what your trying to do but you fucked up Sesshomaru. If things weren’t like they are you wouldn’t even be here, you wouldn’t even know. If I could I’d lock the well forever with everyone I love on this side and leave you alone for 500 years. You hurt me, more then Inu Yasha ever has, more then Kikyo, more then Naraku hurt everyone put together. I have pups to look out for now, I have them and myself to take care of. These four pups and those hanyou pups outside are my life now, and right now there is no place for you and I’m not going to try and make room either. I let my guard down to give you a chance, I let everyone talk me into trusting you, but I have to think about the pups first, not how I’m not going to do something wrong or how I’m going to survive another day. I just can’t, not anymore.”
Sesshomaru felt himself being torn in two. Her words were cutting at the stab wound he already had. It felt like someone had ripped off his skin and pushed him in a salt pile. Gathering his wounded pride her looked down at his mate and turned away from her accusing gaze.
“May this Sesshomaru remain? It is your customs is it not?”
“My beast is different then regular Inu, she believes it will help me through the births, you may remain but don’t get in the way.”
“Thank you.” Sesshomaru took up a post near the head of the bed below the window. He sat holding his son like it was his only life line. Kagome watched him nuzzle his son and scent mark each other.
Looking at the ceiling she closed her eyes and let everything go.
You are doing well. We are on the way to balancing out the problems of the world. You will continue to show the people what is needed to survive. As you know you have survived long enough to reach your current time, but many things can change, we are unaware of many things in your future.
Kagome let the feeling of peace flood her as she stood before the Gods. “My Lords and Ladies, thank you for your blessing, what would you have of me?” Bowing Kagome waited to know what to do.
You have been unable to train due to your pups, we will allow you the time to birth them but much is to be discussed. A new threat is in the near future. The evil hanyou will seem kind compared to what has been foretold.
“Thank you for the warning, what will I be learning next?”Kagome never got her answer as she was kicked out from the Gods domain and thrown into a blinding pain.
“That wasn’t nice.” Kagome muttered to the power charged air.
“Kagome, are you alright?”
“Fine, Gods just gave me an update.” Groaning she arched off the bed at the pain. The pup on its way felt like it was pulling her organs and clawing at the walls of her internal body.
“Almost there child, ye need to relax.” Kyade waited for the pup to come further out while Sango held Kagome down so she wouldn’t hurt her or the pup.
“I’m going to be sick.” Kagome gave one hard push and rolled to her side throwing up only blood.
“Kagome!” Sango cried lost at what to do.
“Slayer, she is well.” Sesshomaru looked up from the pup in his arms.
“Fuck you.” Sango growled before placing a cool towel on her friend.
Kagome fought past the darkness building in her vision.
“It is a girl, she is much like ye Kagome.” Kyade praised wiping the baby clean and placing her in a pink towel.
Kagome looked weakly up at the ceiling. “I need a break.”Kyade laughed. “Ye pups are persistent on seeing ye’s world. Ye must push again for ye’s next pup is already coming.”
“Kyade I can’t.” Kagome felt the energy seeping out of her, she needed just five minutes then she could continue.
“Come on Kags, just a little more.” Sango encouraged.
Kagome straightened out her body and let Kyade move everything into place. Clearing her mind and taking a claming breath she focused. The room was stuffy as it was even with the window open. The Gods literally hovered over them, Sesshomaru’s power pushed at hers in a suffocating manner. Then with Sango right at her side Kagome looked past it all in hopes of finding one small space of peace.
“Child, ye must come back to us.” She heard Kyade’s vice chi.
“Kags?” Sango hesitantly touched her skin, Kagome felt the touch and the pain but it was so distant.
One arm was draped over her bulging stomach and the other lay at her side. She had nothing to cover her body as each pup flowed from her body. The towel she had used to hide away from Sesshomaru had been burning in a flood of power.
“Kagome!” Dozens of voices cried as the power crested and as two pups lay in a puddle of blood. Kyade quickly tended the two and wrapped them up passing them to Sango and Sesshomaru. The room was filled with four crying pups.
Kyade checked Kagome and looked completely destroyed when she got no response at all from the young girl.
“She has passed.” Kyade knelt and prayed.
“Kagome? Kagome, come on wake up. Look a girl and three boys. They are all so beautiful, wake up, please.”
“She will sleep.” Sesshomaru took the two crying pups he held and held them in one arm. Grabbing his mate in the other he ordered the bed to be stripped and remade. Sango handed over the two pups she held and quickly stripped the bloody sheets from the bed laying down fresh ones. Sesshomaru placed Kagome down and then the two pups at her side. Kyade followed his example and placed the other two on her other side. The crying instantly stopped.
“Leave us.”
“Look here, Sesshomaru, you have no right to boss us around.”
“This one is aware, however Kagome has enter a trance like state to regain her energy faster. I will watch over her and share my energy while the pups keep her grounded. My father and Inu Yasha will protect the outer perimeter. Your monk has stabilized the barriers. This one feels that we are safe enough. This one is of no danger to his mate and pups this night.”
“You say that and Kagome can mutter one word in her sleep and you could snap and kill her, I don’t think so.” Sango leaned against the wall near the door and crossed her arms.
“Very well.” Sesshomaru moved to stand next to the bed. Looking down at his new family once more he took a seat waiting and protecting.
Kagome felt the world around her. Each energy source was glowing in its own aura. Floating in between worlds she let her body just be.
You have entered the world humans call limbo and you do not worry. You are a strage creature.
Kagome opened one eye to look down at a small koala demon. “I am but passing through. I will return to my world when I am strong enough to.” Kagome closed her eyes and giggled.

“Nope, nope, nope. I’m just resting here. Besides if I were staying then I wouldn’t be in this world right now, I’d be before the Gods. I’m supposed to go train tomorrow. You see I just had four pups and I’m tired so if you don’t mind id like to meditate.” Kagome leaned back more in her floating state.

“Human Inu actually. My mate turned me into what he is, some ritual that Mideriko knew about. Speaking of which I need to talk to her about if there is more I can learn about. So much to do, so little time. Well not really, I have eternity if people would stop trying to kill me. Hey do you know where we are?” Kagome sat up and crossed her legs still hovering above the ground.

“Then why does it look like feudal Japan. It looks like we’re in Inu Yasha’s forest. Hey the God tree should be this way.” Kagome rolled over and pushed off the air. She floated almost like an angel over the land.
Inu Yasha knew who was coming up the stair even before they had reached the top. Leaving his post he headed towards the East stairs.
“Oh, Inu Yasha I didn’t expect you here!” Mrs. Higurashi smiled taking and hugging the boy.
“Keh, Kagome is asleep but she brought everyone to visit and get away from the bastard who is now here with the old man.” Inu Yasha tucked his arms in his sleeves.
“Oh well, who is everyone dear?”
“All of Kagome’s runts and the group. Things got pretty bad for a while. Most of us have been here for a week or so. Kagome said you wouldn’t be back for a while though, did something happen?”
“Oh no of course not dear, I came to check on things. A neighbor who was suppose to be looking after the shrine called and say he didn’t like the feelings he got when he tried to come over.””Keh, Kagome placed a barrier to keep everyone away. It’s been up for awhile.”
“Oh, well why don’t you introduce me to everyone. I’ll be staying here for a couple of days then I’m catching a plane back to Souta and Dad.””Hey dum-dum. Lord Inu Tashio said your in trouble for abandoning your post.” Shippo raced to where Inu Yasha stood with a woman.
Shippo looked at the woman a second before running as fast as he could crying, “GRANDMA!!!”
Inu Yasha barely caught the fox kit by the tail as he flew straight for the unsuspecting woman at his side. “Damn it Shippo, she’s not like Kagome. You’ll really hurt her if you do that. Go tell the old man to pull his sword out of his….””Inu Yasha!” Inu Yasha flinched and lowered his ears to his head.
“Sorry, Mrs. H.”
Mrs. Higurashi took the fox kit from Inu Yasha’s abusive hold. “I bet your Shippo my Grandson. Kagome has showed me pictures of you and is always talking about how much she loves you. I love your drawings.” Mrs. Higurashi smiled holding the kit in her arms. “Since Inu Yasha is being himself why don’t you show me all of Kagome’s friends.””Ok Grandma, Kagome’s asleep with the new pups and the basta…Sesshomaru watching over them.” Catching himself Shippo looked over his shoulder.
Mrs. Higurashi let out a sigh. “What did he do this time to get everyone against him?”
“Keh, the bastard almost killed Kagome.”
“Oh non-sense. He can’t do that from what he said, when we talked.””Well he did, he beat up Momma and then they got into a fight and Kagome didn’t have the power to stop him and the bastard kept beating her and no one could stop him because he but up a barrier and Kagome couldn’t stop it and she was bleeding and he kept hurting her and they he stopped and she told him to go to hell and everyone felt the same way and then Kagome disappeared and came here and we all ignored the ass-hole while he was sick and the nice nurse told everyone he was so weak because Kagome was sick and if he died then Momma would also be dead but he got better because Inu Yasha came here and took care of kagome and then Inu Yasha came and got us and we got to come here and play and Kagome’s going better but really early this morning she started having pups and then Inu Yasha had to go get Sesshomaru or Kagome was going to get sicker and Lord Inu Tashio came too so that we were all protected and Miroku took over the barriers because Kagome is so weak and now we’re waiting for Kagome to wake up because she’s asleep and tired and Sesshomaru is being watched while he watches Kagome and the new pups because no one trusts him and Sango is with them too because she wants to kill him and everyone things that if he dies Momma won’t die because the Gods have been trainging her and they said that Kagome will save everyone.” Shippo took a deep breath and continued to look over his shoulder at the older woman.
Mrs Higurashi let out a sigh and processed the single sentence of information the kit had told her. “So? Are Kagome and Sesshomaru….uhh...friends again?”
“Grandma, didn’t you hear me, everyone wants to kill Sesshomaru even Kagome cause he’s a bast…”
“Ok ok I get it, his not being very nice to Kagome.”
“No he’s just being an ass-h…”
Mrs. Higurashi covered the kits mouth so that the rest was a jumbled mess. Inu Yasha was holding his forehead with one hand grumbling under his breath. “Never a dull moment is there?” She joked.
“No ma’am. Come on I’ll introduce you to everyone. Right now we all look like humans except the bastard and the old man.”
Mrs. Higurashi let out a sigh, boy did see need a vacation again already.
Kagome floated to the God tree and placed a hand on it feeling its warmth crawl up her hand and into her body.
Human! You are not suppose to touch the tree of ages! Get your filthy hands off of there.
Kagome let the energy fill her completely before removing her hand. “Look since you seem to be bothered by me so much I’m leaving.” Kagome crossed her arms and returned to the world where she sensed her body.
Kagome could hear the children laughing outside with each other. Four little auras were nessled into her sides, without opening her eyes she know they were her pups. She also knew Sango was near the door and Sesshomaru was at her side. Taking a quick count of all the auras she counted an extra, reaching out she felt her mother’s aura respond.
Snapping her eyes open she took great care in getting up as so not to disturb her pups.
“Kagome, you alright?” Sango asked mindful of the pups.
“Ya, im great, back to normal for the most part.” Touching her stomach she smiled at the smooth flesh, evidently her body had taken care of itself.
Calling on her power to fly Kagome left her bed lightly, but flinched as her pups began to whine. Dressing quickly in jeans and a t-shirt she landed in front of Sesshomaru at the side of the bed, ignoring him and she grabbed two of the fussing babies. Sango jumped in and grabbed the other two.
“Lets go see why my Mom is back, I thought she was on vacation.”
Kagome left the room leading everyone downstairs and outside. Kagome looked down at the towel wrapped babies in her arms and smiled. The two she held had been the last two born. They were obviously identical twin. Looking over at Sango her smile grew at the other two pups, one was Ichero the other one she had yet to name. The little girl was more her skin color with silver hair. She had green markings and deep blue eyes.
“Tsukiko.” Kagome muttered.
“Did you say something Kagome?””My baby girl, Tsukiko.”
“Moon child? I think that is a good name.” Sango smiled and bounced the girl on her left side.
“Kagome? What are our last two sons names?”
Kagome looked over her shoulder at Sesshomaru. She could tell he was treading lightly so not to piss her off, but she just didn’t want to deal with him.
Looking down again at the twin boys she looked deeply into their eyes. Both had black hair as dark as hers. One set of eyes was amber while the other set was sapphire blue. Neither pup had markings but Kagome couldn’t see their full bodies.
“Kazuhiko,” she said looking at the blue-eyed twin, “and Takeo,” looking at the amber eyed twin.
Sango nodded. Kagome could feel Sesshomaru’s happiness soar behind her, while she knew he would never show it, she could somehow feel it, but below the happiness was a festering pain, one she didn’t want to think to hard on.
The children came into view as they turned the corner of the house. It was obvious they were playing tag by the sight over everyone running around avoiding Mrs. Higurashi. Inu Yasha had Rin on his back playing along, the little girl laughing and almost crying. Miroku sat against a building laughing at everyone. He looked over when Kagome led her group over.
“Lady Kagome, it is a surprise to see you up and around.”
“Hey Miroku. I’m fine, I just needed to meditate, I have a question for you later though about that.”
“Anything you need.” Miroku smiled. “Are those the new additions?” He leaned over one of the pups Kagome held. Behind Kagome, Sesshomaru let out a warning growl.
“Oh shut up Sesshomaru.” Kagome snapped. “Here Miroku, why don’t you that the twins while I talk to my mom.” She passed the two little bundles to her friend and walked over to the game.
Shippo raced by her and Kagome grabbed him by the tail tossing the kit into the air and catching him. “Kagome!” He cried hugging her when she pulled him to her chest. The game paused and everyone turned towards their friend.
“Hey everyone.” Kagome greeted. “Hi Momma.” Setting Shippo down she embraced the older woman.
“It is good to see you, Shippo told me a quick version of what has happened in the last few weeks. Are you alright?”
“Ya I’m great. Inu took care of me. You have you Grandbabies finally so you’ll stop nagging me for the most part. My kids are safe and the Gods are giving me a break for a day then its back to training.”
“I have Grandkids? I thought it was just one?”
“Ya so did we until about a week or so ago. It’s cool though, everything is fine.”
“Well you shouldn’t be up, you should be resting.” Mrs. Higurashi chide.
“But Momma, I’m fine, I have to go shopping again.”
“What for?”
“Baby stuff, but I’m wondering if that’s such a good diea since the four of them will grow so fast. Hey Tashio, you think you can get me some of the nifty fire rat fur?”
“I will be difficult but not impossible.”
“Good, off you and Sesshomaru go.” Kagome motioned to the well house.
“Kagome.” The elder jumped from his perch on the roof and landed feet from her. “You can’t just keep ignoring us or calling us when you need something then ignoring us. Sesshomaru and I are not your dogs.”
“I know but you’re the ones who put yourselves in the dog house. Besides I think I should get a little something, I mean I brought you back to life and Sesshomaru has his heir. And wasn’t it you who convinced the Gods to pair us up to save his life, which in turn has almost ruined mine.” Kagome started the older male down without fear, she knew she couldn’t win a fight against him but she know that magically she could defend herself if not hurt him back. “You lecture me about my duties but you don’t know a damn thing because once you came back to the living you stopped being the Gods pet. I know that in 12 days I have to be on the other side at a certain location to do some more crap. I have my own contacts, so don’t act like your in charge because the Gods told me everything is on my shoulders, I think they have more credit then you do considering you tried to capture me like food and force me into doing shit I don’t want to. And another thing, I hardly see how you can call yourself the Inu no Tashio since the title died when you did, and because you didn’t pass it on, Sesshomaru can’t take it even if he is of age. Which lead me into thinking that I’m in the crap pile because I have to pick up everyone’s mess and get the world back in balance so that what you see now is what really happens. So I would appreciate a little space and a hell lot more credit.”
Inu Tashio stared down at the girl in front of him and snarled. “You are only 19 years old, you little bitch. I have lived for centuries, I have died and seen the other side, you don’t know what you play with when the Gods train you.”
“I have died too, more then you have. I’ve had my heart ripped apart, I’ve hit rock bottom and I’m still here, I’m still standing. I died every time Inu Yasha ran away with Kikyo and came back lying about it. I died when half my soul was ripped from my body to animate a clay body of who everyone thinks was my reincarnation. Who by the way was never anywhere near my family line because I come directly from Mideriko’s line, Kikyo and I have nothing to do with each other except that were look alike. And the sad part is that she came back so angry because she was ripped away from the life she was meant to have. Do you realize that when you pull a soul back into the era that it originated from the current body it inhabits stops existing! So by tearing her soul back into the past the life she was living in this era as her reincarnation, died! Kikyo had it perfect but when I was mistaken for her reincarnation and used to bring her back the real girl that was her reincarnation died! And I blame you, Inu no Tashio, because you just had to set me up with Sesshomaru, and you knew that he or his beast wouldn’t see me fit unless I was a warrior in my own way and in his way. I don’t know what the hell you did to twist my life because my life is what I have lived so far, but I’m glad you stuck on this side so that you can stop fucking it up.”
“I did what I had to so that my line would go on! The way things were going Sesshomaru was to die because of the God’s will. Inu Yasha would and should have died, but his mother interfered when she died. She cast a spell with her life so that nothing would happen to him until he was old enough to protect himself. Sesshomaru took my actions as trying to save him so he risked everything to protect Inu Yasha. If not for Izayoi he would be dead like he should be.”
Many of the people in the courtyard gasped in horror. Kagome snarled and flexed her power. Flinging her arm in front of her she threw a whip of power at the elder effectively slicing his face. The sheer power of it knocked the man hundreds of years away. “It’s a good thing you’re not his father. As for Izayoi, may she be resting in peace; she is his blood family, but fuck you if you think that every single person standing here doesn’t think of him as family. Inu Yasha is a good man, and I love him. He has been there for me, he has protected me, fought for me, killed for me, and is my best-friend. I trust him with my life. You are a fool, to think that your sons can’t handle themselves. It is your interference that has fucked up everything. It is your fault that your sons believe they have to be bigger and badder then everyone around them. You left Sesshomaru, you abused his mother and killed her for doing what any frightened woman would do, you treated him like shit because you couldn’t take her betrayal. Then when you met Izayoi you thought she’d be easier to push around, and maybe she was or maybe you really did love her, but Inu Yasha was born and the shit hit the fan and you died before you could handle anything, she raised him and the way I see it you have no right to call him your son because if I was him you sure as hell wouldn’t be my father.”
Inu no Tashio stood on unsteady feet. He wiped at the blood coming from the purified whip mark. Turning towards the group that had formed behind the woman accusing him he snarled.
“You all side with her? Even my own blood?”
No one said a word because nothing needed to be said. Kagome was breathing hard from her anger but not even a pup dared cry.
“If you attack any of us, or try to harm us, I will kill you.” Kagome stood taller and pulled her power around her to create a visible haze. Sesshomaru stepped up and placed a hand on her shoulder mending his power with hers. Together their power created a blue fog that swept over the courtyard.
“You step to far, bitch.”
“Maybe so, but you aren’t the first and you won’t be the last. I don’t fit in anywhere, that’s why I am who and what I am. Obviously you have a problem with it.”
“Kagome?” Mrs. Higurashi went to reach out but Inu Yasha grabbed her hand and silently shook his head no. He motioned them all away from the on coming battle and handed Mrs. Higurashi his fire rat.
Turning he walked out to stand with Kagome and Sesshomaru.
“My sons and their bitch. How ironic.””I don’t see the irony in your death.” Sesshomaru replied.
Inu Yasha drew his sword and tossed it across the courtyard. “I don’t need your shit anymore. I’m strong enough on my own and I have my friends to watch my back.”
Sesshomaru follow suit and threw his healing blade so that it landed on the Tetsiga. “I too am no longer in need of your fang.”
Inu Yasha placed his hand on Kagome and let his power flow with hers. The fog became denser and began curling into itself and growing to waist height.
“One of you will die here today.” Then Inu Tashio was done in the fog.
Inu Yasha jumped off. Sesshomaru went to opposite way but Kagome stayed standing and not moving.
“Come to me, Mother and Father. I ask you in my time of need to light my path.” Closing her eyes Kagome let her power flow from her and floated into the air. Once she stood at the top of the wispy fog as began to spin, it started out like a pirouette and soon her own momentum was carrying her. Folding her arms over her chest she lifted her left hand slowly over her head. A single bead of power grew enveloping her in a thin wire. Then in a breath of air the fog was gone and Inu Tashio stood out in the open defenseless.
Sesshomaru attacked from the right as Inu Yasha swept in at the left grabbing the shocked man and forcing him still.
Kagome let the power grow before lining up her attack, in honesty she really didn’t know what the hell she was doing other then spinning but her body was acting on it’s own. Trusting the feeling she waited the few extra heartbeats before stopping and landing. The thread of power curled around her feet in a lazy pile.
“You have two choices, you can either play nice and I just lock you in a dungeon or you say something stupid and try something even stupider and I have to kill you. So what are we going to do?”
“You need me, you can’t kill me.” Inu Tashio fought his sons’ grasp.
“Why are men so dense? Take him back to Endo, no one here needs to hear him die.” Kagome threw her arm and the little rope of power uncurled from around her feet and flew towards the group of men, but neither Inu Yasha nor Sesshomaru moved as the energy passed through them and wrapped around their captive creating a cocoon. It was only seconds later before the muffled screams could be heard.
Inu Yasha threw the bundle over his shoulder not effected by the purifying energy. “I’ll take him to the other side and come back when he shuts up.” He then hopped off and into the well house.
Sesshomaru watched with an emotionless face. It wasn’t until he say Kagome bend over herself breathing hard that he hurried to her side to see if anything was wrong.
“I’m sorry Sesshomaru. I’m so sorry.”
“Do not be, you are right in your assumption that he was not our father. We have no father, I believe your mother explained it to me that he would only be a sperm donor. And by being this sperm donor it does not make him our father”
Kagome looked up through her hair in horror. When had her mother said that? It was scary that Sesshomaru had said what he had but even scarier that he knew what it meant and had meant to be funny. Kagome let the shock wear off before she smiled and began laughing.
“Anyways, I think we’d better calm my mom down.” Wrapping an arm around his waist Kagome leaned heavily on Sesshomaru.
“Are you well?”
“Whatever that last attack was took a good chuck of my power. It’s going to suck if I need more power then what I have in 12 days.”
“Hn.” Looking at the woman leaning on him he elegantly swooped and picked her up.
“Is this really necessary?” Kagome sighed.
“You will need to transform to feed our pups, if this will help save your strength then I will tend to you.”
“Hn.” Kagome rubbed her head.
“Kagome!? Are you alright? What just happened?” Mrs Higurashi let go of Rin and rushed to her daughter.
“I’m fine mother, just tired. Sesshomaru will explain anything you have questions on, but I have to feed our pups. I love you, but I can’t even begin to explain this mess to you.”
“Oh I know that I couldn’t possibly figure out your life I just want to know where you got such a potty mouth?”
“Honestly I don’t know, I guess it just comes with having to take care of everyone and being nice stops working. I’ll watch my language.”
Mrs. Higurashi sighed and let her daughter enter the house.
Sesshomaru carried Kagome up to her room and laid her on the bed. Sango and Miroku came in and paid the pups on the bed beside Kagome.
“We’ll be downstairs, if you need anything just call.”
“Thanks guys.” Kagome smiled and waited till they left before sitting up to undress.
Sesshomaru watched Kagome like a hawk. “You know, there really isn’t a point for you to be here.”
“This one is aware, however you have already broken many of our traditions. I wish to know and watch some of these new procedures. It is odd for this one, these new things.”
“Is that how your always going to see me? The person who breaks all the rules she can?”
“I did not say that Kagome.”
“No but it was unspoken.” Kagome pulled her energy around her and shifted into a much smaller version of her demonic form. Lying on her side she nudged her pups to her stomach when they started to feed.
Sesshomaru watched her tender care a few moments before shifting himself into a dog and crawling onto the bed to lay behind her.
Kagome rolled her eyes and watched her pups. So involved in then she yipped when Sesshomaru’s tongue licked her neck. All four pups stopped and looked at her afraid they had hurt her. Kagome licked each one and pushed then closer to her belly. Each pup slowly began feeding again.

Our pups thought they had hurt you.
No, not yet anyway, I’m sure they will when they get teeth or if they start eating more and I get raw, but hopefully I’ll heal what damage they do.
There are servants that are used for this reason. It is their task.
Yes but I don’t want another woman to feed my kids. I think of it and my life supports these pups. My emotions are being fed to them thought what I can provide; I don’t like the idea of another woman planting her ideals and emotions into my kids.
This one understands what you are saying and has never thought of it like that. Sesshomaru placed his head on his paws and looked out the window.
Kagome laid her head on Sesshomaru’s stomach and closed her eyes. The pups one by one finished eating and drifted off the sleep with their parents.
Inu Yasha dropped his load roughly on the ground. He looked down a the being that claimed to be his father. Kagome’s power was squeezing the body it wrapped tightly. He could hear the screams of pain coming from the man, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care.
“You deserve much worse old man.”
Turning Inu Yasha left the glowing pink bundle deep in the woods far from any village or demon. If anyone did find it they wouldn’t be able to do anything for the man inside except listen to the cries as he died.
Sango checked in on Kagome when dinner was ready. She smiled at the two dogs that were passed out and the four babies that were sleeping against the black fur of their mother. It was a picture perfect moment that Sango knew Kagome would want. Sneaking out she grabbed Kagome’s camera from the backpack and snuck back up stairs. Quickly clicking the picture she shut the door and let the family be.
Kagome groaned and covered her face with a paw trying to shield her eyes from the sun pouring into her window. Under her something moved pushing a pillow into the way of the light. Kagome looked over with sleepy eyes to flash a confused look at Sesshomaru.
You wish to continue sleeping do you not? It is your ritual.
Huh? Oh, sleeping in? Well is it safe to in your presents? Last time I tried to I almost got my throat ripped out.
Hn. This one and his beast will allow any of your wishes.
Kagome gave him a disbelieving look before turning to watch her pups. She could feel the Gods presents, Kagome waited from them to take her.
Standing in her human form Kagome looked around at her surroundings. Again she was in a new place. This place was beautiful. It was a natural rain forest covered in life.
“Wow.” Kagome smiled bending to touch some exotic flower.
You take interest in this place?
Kagome rubbed the flower petals with her fingers. “Oh yes, very much.”
What of your mate?
“I doubt he would like this place.” Kagome knelt taking a different flower in her hand.
“You are so sure of my likes Kagome. Surely you have learned this Sesshomaru respects his surroundings.” Sesshomaru’s voice cut deep into the air causing Kagome to spin and fall to her butt suddenly terrified. Looking at him Kagome watched his eyebrow raise at her fear.
The Gods watched the two in humor and interest.
“You only care about death and destruction. You’ve made that pretty obvious to me.” Kagome snarled standing and dusting herself off.
Sesshomaru sighed and dropped his offered hand.
“What do you wish of me my Ladies and Lords?” Kagome asked turning her back to Sesshomaru.
You will kill this place, turn it baron so that nothing will live here again.
Kagome looked towards the patches of light coming from the tree tops. “I can’t, I can’t do that. This place was born from your image, to kill it… I just can’t. Please don’t ask this of me.” Kagome dropped to her knees.
You will not do as we ask?
“I have killed many things, many people. Too many people died because of me, when Naraku gained part of the jewel, every person that suffered was my fault, he killed villages and it was my fault he had the power to do that. Then when I killed Lord Kitamarto, it was like you controlled me. I cannot kill anymore. Not if I have a choice.”
You are pure in everyway, our miko. You cannot continue to blame yourself for the deaths of many when we were the ones to create your destiny. For many to survive many have to die.
“Hn.” Sesshomaru placed a hand on his mate’s shoulder. “This one would like to know why he is here.”
Impatient Lord, our Miko is pure, but you are not. You are her other half. Humans call it yin and yang. But it is still balance. Where as she will fail you will succeed and so forth. Kill this place.
“Hn. If it is your will.” Sesshomaru drew his sword and let loose his strongest attack. However only a small strip of the beautiful land was destroyed.

However the hanyou was correct, Lord, your life hangs by a thread, our Miko will no be effected in your death. You show us you are weak and uncounciled. Kagome woke and stretched. Her stomach was sore but looking down at her pups she realized they had feed again. Noticing her own hunger Kagome nudged then off her a little ways and stood. Ignoring Sesshomaru, she hopped off the bed and shifted.
The pups whined but Kagome grabbed the blanket at the end of the bed and created a nest for them. Sesshomaru stood and climbed off the bed. Changing Kagome left the room without saying anything. From what she could tell no one was home, not even her adopted children. Her mother must have taken them out or something.
“Kagome?”
“Hn?” Opening the fridge she pulled out a bottle of water and an orange.
“This Sesshomaru wishes to speak with you.”
“Isn’t that what we’re doing now? Talking?” Pulling out a chair she sat down at the table.
“It is so, however this one wishes to discuss what the Gods have said.””Is your pride hurt?” Kagome looked up from her orange. It wasn’t that she was really baiting him, but more along the lines of pouring salt on his wounds.
“No, it isn’t. However, this one feels that he owes you much Kagome. He has been unfair, cruel, and everything a mate should not be.”
“You’re just now figuring this out?” Kagome said dropping a peal.
“Kagome, I deserve everything you give me, but understand the way you grew up is not the way of my time. This world is nothing like I have seen. Women are equal, they provide for their family. There is no role for man, in this era. Even your businesses are run by women.”
“Keh, you haven’t seen the political systems.” Looking up she stared into his eyes. Something had broken in him. Weather it was anything important she didn’t really know.
“These systems, I know nothing of, but women run the houses, they provide, they care for those in need, in my view men have been pushed out of their roles. In my era, men are dominant. The grounds were empty; nothing was around, not even birds. Kagome looked around and sniffed the air hoping for a scent.
“Go inside Sesshomaru. Go check the pups.” Kagome walked off towards the God tree. Something was up, but she knew nothing would happen to them in her time, something about being here seemed peaceful.
“Everyone has gone shopping, nothing will disturb you, but your time here is coming to an end.” Shisuki called from his perch.
“I figured. What is that feeling in the air?”
“Probably the well calling to you. Not a lot of people know what went to when you crossed the final time. Dad and Uncle Inu said you crossed first because something felt wrong, but everyone crossed and then you came out last. No one knows, just be careful.”
“I know, but it’s hard to when you have little to nothing to go on.”
“Just expect the unexpected.””I seen a picture in one of the storage houses, it was a drawing of Inu Yasha, Sesshomaru and Inu Tashio I expect the old man isn’t dead?”
“I can’t say, Momma, but if I could I would say that everything will become clear in a few nights.”
“Ya ya, on Halloween. I have to be where again?”
“The highest point.”
Kagome thought about it for a minute. “Highest point is Mt. Hakuri. Wait, there is no way we can all make it there in a couple of days. It took weeks to get there the first time.”
“I never said everyone had to be there.”
Kagome let out a sigh and waved it off. “Fine.”
“Father is coming.” With that the male in the tree disappeared.
“Kagome who were you talking to this one felt another aura and heard voices?” Sesshomaru was calm as he approached his mate. She seemed calm from what he could tell but even that knowledge was wrong a lot of the time.
“No one of your concern.” Kagome turned at looked at the demon Lord. “Didn’t I ask that you watch over the pups?”
“You never took down the barrier, no one can enter the room. Not even I.”
“Hn.” Kagome turned away and headed towards the house.
“Who were you talking to?””I can’t say.” Kagome turned in her step to look at the demon Lord. “It’s one of those things that will mess up the time line if I tell you.”
“Hn.” He wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth or lying but he took her word for now.
Checking on her pups Kagome smiled from the door before shutting it and heading back down stairs. Sesshomaru leaned against the kitchen wall, arms crossed.
“You look like you want something.”
“This Sesshomaru, is only thinking.”
“Whatever.” Kagome didn’t believe him for one moment but she didn’t want to fight with him.
“What would you have of me Kagome? What would it take to have to believe in me again?” Sesshomaru fought not to sound defeated, but something deep inside he was broken and burning with pain, he didn’t like it.“We’ve talked about this it seems repetitive.” Kagome chide.
“This Sesshomaru has hurt you; he has broken the unwritten code of Mates. This one cannot begin to explain the things he has done wrong.”“Then don’t. I’ve told you hundreds of times and I’m not telling you again. Drop it.” Turning Kagome marched out of the kitchen and slammed the door as she left the house.
Pulling her bracelet from her pocket Kagome slid it on and headed down the stairs of the shrine. Her pups would be safe no doubt with Sesshomaru there, and if he did leave, she doubted her future self would let them be unguarded. Placing her hands behind her head she looked up slightly and just walked. No one seemed to be on the street today but as she turned down one of the main streets she found more and more people. Standing in front of a store she looked over as her refection, broken only when people passed in-between her and the window. Not even recognizing herself she let out a sigh and moved on. Halfway down the block a figure dropped down and landed at her side, keeping pace with her.
“Someone is going to notice you if you keep the up.” Kagome said looking out of the corner of her eye.
“It’s a chance I’ll take if it means I can spend time with you.”
“I’m your mother, why would you wanna do that?” Kagome teased.
“Because your still young right now, you in this era after 500 some odd years is a crabby pain in my neck.”“I’m supposed to be. It’s in the mother’s handbook.” Shisuki snorted but placed an arm around his mother’s waist. “You’ll get your scent on me.”
“Again, a risk I’ll take.”
“Your acting like I’m dead in this era.”
“No, just busy a lot. You have time for all of us, but it never feels like enough. And since you are here for a few more days before the well closes, and I’m the only one with permission to see you, I’m going to exercise that right.”“I’ll have to remind myself to beat you when this era comes around.” Kagome teased dropping her hands and poking him in the ribs a couple of times.
Shisuki laughed and tried to avoid her fingers but to no avail he lost the battle to her ticklish antics. “Momma.” He whined feeling like a pup.
“Shisuki.” Kagome mocked. She stopped poking him and placed her hands back on her head. “Fine I’ll behave, for now.” They both laughed and continued down the street.
“Sesshomaru’s being an ass, so I didn’t get to eat much. Wanna grab something with me?” Kagome offered seeing a little oden shop at the end of the street.
“Sure. I’ll have to go about 4. School gets out then and I gotta get the brats.”“Huh? Who’s brats?”
“Little bit of everyone’s, can’t say who’s done what but I will say you’re a grandmother….84 times over.”
“84? Well my mom should be pleased.”
“Some of them have ears like Uncle Inu’s. When the well closes for good, we’re planning on raiding the shrine.”“Ya well just don’t kill your Great-Grandfather.”
“Feh, no one is scared of the old man.”
“I didn’t say you should be afraid I said don’t scare him. And I think you’ve been hanging out with Inu Yasha to long.” Shisuki laughed. Kagome know she wasn’t even effecting him with her lecture but reached up to grab his human looking ear. The laughing quickly turned to a high-pitched yipe.
“I thought so. Now you listen here, I have no idea how the next 500 years go but you better watch over everyone for me. Shippo and Rin can’t do it by themselves, and I know that if Miroku and Sango made it this far they have enough perverts to deal with considering its Miroku we’re talking about. I’m sure in not too old to put you over my knee.”
“No Mother and you remind us often that you are still young.” Shisuki praised hoping she would let go of his abused ear.
“Good.” Pulling her son down just a little father she pecked him on the check and let his ear go.”“You sure as hell haven’t changed much.” She heard him mutter rubbing his ear.
“And I hope you remember, I’m not changing for anyone.” Kagome entered the diner and found an empty seat. Shisuki sat across from her and they ordered each a bowl of beef and vegetable oden.
Sesshomaru rubbed his face with his hands and let out a howl of anger. How had he ended up screwing up so bad? Surely things for other Lord such as him couldn’t be so difficult, but then again they didn’t have to put up with Kagome. The house was too silent as he stood in the kitchen. Something in his chest hurt, he had never felt anything like it before, even when he had been wounded.
Damn it. We will never be forgiven.
