Kagome curled into Sesshomaru’s lap. She didn’t want to deal with other world stuff, she just wanted to cuddle. Rubbing the bridge of her nose she finally spoke up.
“I thought I made it clear that I don’t want more stupid power. My goal in life isn’t to become a Goddess. I just want a family and a nice house far away from all the drama that seems to pop up in my life. I’m sorry if I’m being rude, but I’m sure you can understand why. If my and Sesshomaru have done something, then I don’t see how that should upgrade us? We are both already demons, humans in my birth era would see then as Gods already if they knew about them, but they don’t and for that I’m glad. The world doesn’t need two inexperienced Gods, floating around. Training us might change things and it might make it worse. My son today complained because I don’t spend enough time with my kids. Do you know what that means? It means that I have too much crap to deal with and it takes a toll on my family. I am aware the well closes, and I’m upset, but shit happens, I know I’m not really losing my family because I’ll get them back in 500 years, but I’m gaining another family. Miroku is already tied to me, I don’t know how, or for how long, but I’m going to bind the rest of my family, and my children, and if you consent or not it doesn’t matter. I’m not giving up my dreams because you don’t want to do your jobs. And another point; it’s pretty pathetic that you have to make Gods. You want a break so fucking bad, why don’t you have kids?”
Above them the Gods laughed not angered by Kagome’s harsh words. You have made your point Lady Miko, but we cannot change your statues. We will allow you your dreams, as wild as they maybe, but even we cannot escape our fates. You were destined for many things.
Kagome and Sesshomaru snorted and shared a look. Kagome shrugged and continued her argument. “Again no offence, but, that’s a load of crap. Lord Inu Tashio, gave us much information with his brief time with us. Even you have told me that we were placed together because of the yin/yang theory. Sesshomaru is ruthless, and I am innocent, well whoop-dee-do. I’m not playing games. It’s really starting to ride me the wrong way.” Sesshomaru tightened his hold on Kagome hoping she would calm down. The last thing they need was a bunch of pissed off Gods.
Kagome took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. “How about this, we’ll try and reign in our new powers and we’ll teach ourselves, if you train us then it doesn’t do us much good because we need to be able to things on our own. If we’re missing a point or you need something specific done, then and only then, will you interfere. Sound good Mate?” Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru who looked down at her and shrugged.
You are aware we are returning many of your dead.
“Yes, we are aware, and I have also been informed that a great evil is coming or something like that.”
A great force has confused our sight and we are unaware of future happenings.
“We got it covered. Now if you don’t mind, I would like to return with my Mate to my world.”
Kagome woke up and had to fight to take a breath, the power around her was thick. Behind her she was aware Sesshomaru was already fighting to take control of his part of the power.
Looing inside Kagome filled her balance with power and when no more could fit she created another place deep inside her. The box she stuffed the power into was her old toy box from childhood that now was in Souta’s room. Finally shutting the lid she placed a lock on it and pushed it into the back of her mind for emergencies.
Realizing it was easier to breathe Kagome opened her eyes. Much of the visible raw power had been stored but Sesshomaru was struggling with his last little bit. Kagome sat up and took his hands in hers and created a mental connection with him.
Sesshomaru and Shunkai looked up and stared as Kagome as she peeked around one of their mental barriers. Both parts were fighting to create a containment space big enough for the big brick of power they had absorbed.
“You are not safe here.” Sesshomaru looked over at his other self and hoped nothing would happen.
Kagome stepped out from her hiding place followed by two other beings. Mideriko and Kagome’s beast looked at both men giggling at them. “I believe we can handle ourselves. I got my half stored and figured you could use some help, but if you both want to be stubborn then us girls will take our leave.
“You are intelligent, I’ll give you that, and you have training in this sort of thing, wasn’t it your idea we deal with this on our own?” Shunkai growled pressing his back against the raw power and pushing.
“It was, but we have each other, that is, if you’ll have me.” Kagome rubbed her bare arms and finally noticed the only one from her mind wearing clothes was Mideriko. Looking over at her beast Kagome sighed at the thin layer of fur that covered her. “Can I get some clothes?”
“We’re having problems, and waiting on your council and your worried about hiding that which we’ve already seen?” Sesshomaru growled feeling his feet slipping.
“Well sorry for trying to have some modesty.” Kagome crossed her arms. “You’re never going to store a block of power; you’re supposed to change it into something more compact and smaller. Like my power is in shapes. Use that power to create something smaller that you can fill with the rest of the power.”
Shunkai and Sesshomaru shared a look that said ‘that’s all we had to fucking do?’

Kagome pulled back into her body and snuggled unto the warm body behind her. Sesshomaru tightened his grip around his mate and kissed her hair.
“No one is on the grounds.” Sesshomaru observed.
“I can tell, they all probably evacuated when the power rose. They are safe.”
“You are sure? What I have seen of your world it is anything but safe.” Sesshomaru nipped at Kagome’s neck.
“My contact won’t let anything happen to them.”
“Ahhh, and who is this future contact?”

Inu Yasha stomped up the stairs and burst into his best-friends room. The power had receded and he didn’t care about the barrier, which to his surprise let him in.
“Shisuki? The adult fucking version of Shisuki? Kagome do you realize that a lot could have happened today.” The doors momentum caused it to shut and Inu Yasha sat at the end of the bed where Kagome and Sesshomaru glared at the hanyou.
“Yes Inu Yasha I knew, now if you don’t mind, get the hell out.” Kagome covered herself and Sesshomaru leaned over her nude body growling.
“I’ve seen it before and I love you but I’m not stupid Kagome.” Inu Yasha didn’t even look up. He instead reached blindly over and tossed the bundled up blanket to the couple.
“Fine, yes my contact is Shisuki. And you’re not risking anything as long as he keeps up his disguise and you don’t blurt his name out in front of anyone.”
“Your adoptive son, has been helping us out this whole time?” Sesshomaru covered his mate and his lower body and leaned over to look her in the eyes.
“Ya, why is that such a big deal?”
“This Sesshomaru, wished to kill those children before he met you, and now I find out it would have been a grave mistake. I have given me much to think about Mate.”
Kagome shook her head and gave him her most confused look. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“He means Kagome, what we have all done things, but how many of those have affected what happens in the time. If it was one of Sango and Miroku’s brats, if they do get together, it would be one thing, but this is one of the orphan brats you brought in. Sesshomaru has probably killed hundreds of brats like them. Hell, I killed a couple because I need the food when I was young and its survival of the fittest. But if they weren’t dead would they make changes in this world? In this era?” Inu Yasha hung his head holding it in both hands.
“Now you understand why certain things can’t be done. Everything has a way of falling into place, we can’t force it. We can’t go back in time knowing that on a certain date something happens and certain people die. Those people are supposed to die; we can’t change that, if we do then things in this era change. That is why I was so protective over my books, why I made sure we picked up every single piece of trash or clothing. If someone were to find it in a hundred or so years it could change a lot. There are people who dedicate their lives to searching for things of the past. What do you think would happen if they found a 500 year old Raman cup, or a part of my school uniform. There are weapons in this era that could destroy demons from miles away, some weapons you can be across the great waters and still kill people, if that went back to feudal Japan, what do you think would happen? If I took a gun back with us and killed something with it, and someone saw me and tried to copy it, then weapons in this era could be worse because the gun was invented hundreds of years earlier.”
Sesshomaru and Inu Yasha weren’t sure of what a gun was but they understood destruction and weapons. “You have made your point Mate.” Sesshomaru placed a hand on his frazzled mate and sent soothing energy to her.
“How are you doing to be able to not do these time changing things, Kagome?” Inu Yasha was very serious.
“Funny you ask.” Kagome laughed nervously. “I studied so hard in history because I couldn’t ever remember it. My easiest subjects were ones that I learned in the feudal era. Like math, I used it to make sure we had money or when I had to shot may arrows, that’s why I aimed higher on some targets and hit them so close. My other favorite subject was science and a lot of that is medicine kind of stuff, like making two things together gets me something else. I can’t remember any history because when I got to high school and we started the subject, we started with feudal japan, I knew everything was wrong in my books and could never get into it. That and everyone expects a shrine maiden like me to know history and things because of the shrine, it became really boring for me and I couldn’t keep interest. “
“Then we are safe?”
“I guess. I mean the only date I remember is the one everyone in japan talks about and I’m sure it won’t hurt to avoid it.”
“And what date is that?” Sesshomaru asked intrigued.
“August 6th 1945 to August 9th 1945. That date is something everyone knows, it is when a far away land took a really big weapon and dropped it on Japan, killing thousands.” Kagome explained.
“How do you mean Kagome?” Inu Yasha asked finally looking up.
“well, ummm…I guess it’d be better to show you.” Kagome sat up and let Sesshomaru draped her with the blanket. She left the room and returned with some of Souta old toys.
Setting up the little green army men in a group, she explained. “This is one of Japan’s cities, a really large village if you will. This would be like every person in all four kingdoms in one place at one time. So this land across the great waters, America, comes over with this flying machine.” Kagome pulled out a plane and walked from the door to the group of army men. “And when they get over this city they drop what is called a bomb, kinda like what the band of seven did but on a much bigger scale. Well America drops it bomb,” Kagome takes a baseball and drops it in the middle of the army men, it manages to knock over a handful of the little green men but Kagome kicks half more over with her foot. “See, this bomb killed thousands of people. It happened again in another city too, the same way.”
“If this happens, then should we not attack back? What has the people done for this wrong against us, so to speak?” Sesshomaru watched in fascination and horror.
“Well you see, we were in war first and started it. We caught America off guard and they did the only thing the thought they could do at the time. Very few people hate America, many agree with what they did, we gave them no choice and they only defended themselves. “
“What strange and gruesome wars. I am finding it less and less safe in this era.” Sesshomaru concluded.
Kagome shrugged. And pulled the blanket tighter around her body. “I grew up here, it’s not bad, but it has its moments.”
Everyone bedded down outside for their final night in the future. The kids were sorry to be going home but Kagome promised they could stay until after dinner the next day. Inu Yasha took his normal spot in the tree and Sesshomaru held Kagome in his lap on the roof. Their pups were inside on the bed in a nest of clothes Kagome had made.
“Do you want to come into the city with me? We can take the pups.” Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru and smiled. “ I want to get each of the pups something before we leave.”
“And what of your worries over time?”
“Not anything like that but like candy or something that. Something that will be gone and leave no traces. Like candy, the kids will eat it and it will be gone, nothing will be left behind.”
“I will join you then, I wish to see more of this world so that we may prepare.”
“What do you mean?” Kagome yawned.
“This world does not feel like that of ours. There are no Lords to govern each Land like we have, and soldiers do not police the people. There are many here, more than in our time, you have come to us to help us adapt and not die out. You come to us to balance us. There are tasks here that you know of that will secure us when we reach this time, you know what to do, thus I would like to see more to know what we must work towards.”
“I understand. There are still people here that are like Lords but they do not rule the lands, they keep them safe and talk with lands across the great waters.”
“I see no such men.”
“Why do they have to be men?” Kagome huffed.
Sesshomaru thought about it knowing if he wasn’t careful he might be in the dog house again, and he just finally got out. “Men are the image of government, women are the backbone, they support the men.”
Kagome glared but left it be. She closed her eyes and fell to sleep shortly after.
“Momma, why can’t we go?” Rin and Athena whined clinging to Kagome’s hand.
“Because, daddy and Mommy are taking the pups out and we’re going someplace far away.” Kagome flinched as the words finally hit her at how bad that sounded. “We’ll be back in an hour.” She said quickly.
Both girls began to cry harder and used their bodies to cling to Kagome. “Don’t go!” They screamed in unison catching the attention of all the kids in the courtyard.
“What’s going on?” Shippo asked holding the hand of Katsumi who stood sucking her other hand’s thumb.
“Momma and Daddy are leaving us.” Both girl’s whaled.
“I didn’t say that, I said we’d be back, we’re not leaving forever.”
“Your such babies.” Shippo growled. God girls were such whimps.
“We are not.” Athena growled, her tears stopping like they never existed.
“Ya, you’re the baby.” Rin bit back.
“Hey, no fighting.” Kagome scolded. “And definatly no name calling, you’re everyone is going to line up against the wall.”
“Hay is for horses Momma and the only horse here is more adult then those two.” Shippo shrugged.
“Shippo!” Kagome looked down at the boy who finally realized what he had said. Flinching he looked tenderly up at Kagome.
“Sorry, Momma. It just slipped out.”
“Where did you hear something like that?” Kagome growled looking over Shippos head at all the frightened kids.
“Uncle Inu and Uncle Miro.” Katsumi supplied when no one spoke up.
“And when did they say something like that?” Kagome didn’t believe them so easily.
“When Aunt Sango told Uncle Miro to eat grass. “
Well he probably did something to deserve it, Kagome thought.
“Alright, I’m not mad, but don’t ever say anything like that again, you could hurt someone’s feelings. Alright?” Kagome waited for each child to nod, before turning on her heal and walking off with two girls still attached to her.
“Inu Yasha? Miroku?” Kagome called standing out front of the house, inside she heard Inu Yasha cussing.
Both men came slowly out of the house knowing that whatever was happening probably wouldn’t benefit them. “You are going to give each and every child a bath. And when that’s done you can start picking up the shrine, that means sweeping, watering and collecting whatever is laying around and putting it back where it goes.”
“Keh, I’m not doing it.” Inu Yasha crossed his arms and went to go back in the house.
“The hell you’re not. My children will not learn your bad habits and I’m not going to punish them when they can’t help what they hear. Especially since you have to yell almost everything you say.”
“The hell I do!” Inu Yasha yelled. Kagome and Miroku both looked at him with an eyebrow raised. The children around Kagome giggled and she pushed them off.
“Baths boys.. “ Kagome smiled. Finally the girls let go of her and rushed to be the first ones to take a bath. They knew Kagome and Sesshomaru would come back.
Sango came out of the house with Sesshomaru when Miroku and Inu Yasha had disappeared with the kids. She handed Kagome two freshly closed pups and the keys to the car. Kagome touched her back pocket before taking both pups in her arms.
“Ready.” Kagome smiled rubbing her nose against the two pups’. Sesshomaru nodded and let her lead him to the strange wagon she called a car.
Kagome took her two pups and placed them in the car seats that her mom had bought. Once all four were buckled in Kagome went back around the car and climbed in the driver’s side. Sesshomaru slid into the passenger’s seat and followed her motions. Kagome smiled when she heard two belts click into place.
“You going to be ok?” Kagome asked realizing this would be Sesshomaru’s first time in a car. Every other time he had left the shrine they had walked.
“I will be…this one…” Sesshomaru gasped for words trying to calm himself down, he knew Kagome wouldn’t do anything to endanger them but he didn’t trust anything.
“Ok I get it.” Kagome placed a hand on his tense knee and patted it until Sesshomaru relaxed under her touch. “I’m going to start the car and make it go forward, okay?”
Sesshomaru stared ahead out the clear glass waiting for something he could kill. He was out of control, something he found he didn’t like at all.
Kagome turned the SUV on and shifted it in gear. Placing her now free hand on top of Sesshomaru’s she had to look over as his clung to her. She smiled but kept to herself as she pulled forward and down the drive way to the road.
“So Miroku and Sango want to get married tonight before we leave, I figured you could do the ceremony.” Kagome flinched as Sesshomaru’s hand tightened on hers. “Maybe we could get them something? I don’t know what the customs are for our era.”
Sesshomaru ripped his eyes from the things in front of him. Kagome was looking forward but he watched her.
“This one will perform the ceremony and will sign the paperwork when we return. The only thing necessary is a red piece of silk.”
“Alright, I think we can get something for them.” Kagome leaned forward when a shadow passed over the car. Looking up she shook her head and rolled down the front windows. Sesshomaru jumped when the cool air flooded the confining car. “We’re being followed, but stay calm, it’s just Shisuki.”
“The boy will be in deep trouble will he not?”
“No, he’s hanging around cause in this era you and I are busy. He is the only one that can see us while we are here so that not too much changes. He’ll keep up with us, probably help out where every we go.”
“Hn.” Sesshomaru relaxed his bone-crushing hold on Kagome’s hand to settle for a calm loving hold.
“Same old dad.” Shisuki laughed standing by the passenger door as Kagome stopped at a red light.
“Oh leave him alone.”
“What are you going to do Mom?” Shisuki taunted.
“You may be older than me in this era right now, but I’ll put you over my knee using your ear, so help me.” Kagome leaned forward one hand on the steering wheel the other on Sesshomaru’s knee.
Shisuki paled but snorted to hide it. “You’re still older than me. Remember I’m only 8 in this era.”
“You’re a dragon, and we’re dogs, how is it after 500 years I still have to deal with you?” Kagome teased.
“I moved out.” Shisuki bit back.
“Really? How long did that take?” Sesshomaru asked relaxing even more.
The light turned green and Kagome eased forward but still caught the mumbled reply before Shisuki disappeared. “167 years.”
Sesshomaru snorted and Kagome began laughing.
Kagome pulled into an empty parking spot, rolling up the windows and turning off the car. Kagome opened the door.
Sesshomaru opened his door and shut it immediately opening the door to his pups. Kagome went to the back and opened the cargo hatch pulling out one of the two double strollers. Opening it she pushed it around to Sesshomaru and took Ichero. Placing him in the back seat Kagome turned around for the next pup. Kazuhiko went into the front seat and Kagome strapped him in.
Sesshomaru watch as Kagome placed Tsukiko and Takeo in the other stroller. About that time Shisuki floated down from who knew where holding a silk pouch.
“We don’t want people to notice the marking now do we?” He grinned and pulled out four baby medical bracelets. Kagome took them and placed them on the correct pup. Sesshomaru watched as a light pick and green haze sunk into the pups creating an illusion.
“Hn.”
“You know what it is but not how it’s done? Huh dad.”
Sesshomaru looked over at Shisuki and flashed fang. The dragon backed up in surrender showing his neck.
“Alright boys, play nice. If you’re going to beat each other up do it later.” Kagome pushed her stroller over the Shisuki. “And if you’re going to hang around like I know you are then you get to push.” Kagome left both men staring after her. They sighed and followed after her pushing the pups in front of them.
“I forgot how annoying Mom could be.” Shisuki whispered.
“I heard that.” Kagome warned. She smiled but held the door open for the two men as they entered the mall. As Shisuki passed she reached up and pinched his ear.
“Damn it Mom, would you stop abusing me.” Shisuki hissed only to earn a laugh from his parents. “If you don’t be nice to me you’re not getting your surprise.”
“I don’t like surprises much.” Kagome shrugged and led the way.
The first stop was the candy store, where Kagome bought more than enough of everything.
“Here, your account has a limit, even though the funds are endless. Use this one while we’re here, I don’t have the limit.”
Kagome took the shiny silver card and swiped it. “I take it we’re all linked to the same account.” She had never really thought about money.
“Ya. Even your surprise.” Shisuki hinted.
“I’m going to pinch your ear again.” Kagome warned stuffing the 110 pounds of candy into the bottom of the two strollers.
Sesshomaru and Shisuki ignored the whispers as they followed Kagome around the mall. It wasn’t until they came to the jewelry store that Kagome began realizing how bad the whispers were. This was the last stop before Kagome wanted to grab something to eat and head to the second story of the building.
Catching the tail end of a conversation between two girls Kagome turned and glared. The two high school girls squealed and raced off.
Sesshomaru and Shisuki shared a look and a nod. Kagome ignored them turning to find a set of wedding bands for Sango and Miroku. “I like this one.” Kagome pointed down through the glass at a gold set that was fairly plain. The man’s ring had nothing on it, but the female’s ring had two embedded diamonds in it shaped as hearts.
“Hn.” Sesshomaru leaned against a case and watched his mate.
Behind him more girls giggled and Kagome leaned back to shoo them off.
“I’m going to have to kiss you to get them to leave you alone.” Kagome growled.
Sesshomaru looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “Indeed.”

“We’ll take this set here.” Kagome finally told the woman behind the counter. It had only been 20 minutes since they had entered the store, but Kagome had looked at each set wanting to get the right one for her friends.
“I’m going to have to see some identification and your choice of payment.” The woman snapped.
“No you don’t.” Shisuki called from studying his nails.
“I’m sorry sir, but it’s protocol.” The woman growled.
“Not for us it’s not, just take the card. Your boss will be grateful if you don’t piss us off.” Shisuki looked up and at the woman.
“I’m sorry?” The woman was clearly confused.
“Just go get your boss, I know he’s in the back room.” Shisuki sighed. Kagome looked between the two.
The woman disappeared behind a door. There was some arguing for a moment before an old man wobbled out from the room.
“Oh, hello your Lord and Kagome.” The man bowed and looked up after a second.
Kagome examined the old man for a second before turning to her mate. Sesshomaru snorted. “I knew I should have killed you old man.” Sesshomaru snapped.
“Hehe, you don’t change do you. But then again you’re still young.” The man wobbled over to the case Kagome was in front of and pulled out the set she wanted. “Guaranteed for 500 years if you take care of them.” The man shot Sesshomaru a look who remained bored.
“Kagome, it’s rude to stare, but then again with the people who you hang around with an old man can forgive you.”
Kagome snorted and looked away her mind finally processing who the man was. “Maybe I should stop saving you Totosai, I’m sure even Inu Yasha wants to kick your ass.”
“I know I want to kick his.” The old man defended.
“The swords?”
“Hn.” Totosai placed the rings into silk bags and handed them to Kagome. “Watch your back out there, and come visit more.” He patted her hand. Kagome leaned across the counter and placed a kiss on the old man’s cheek like she always did when she saw him.
“Sure Totosai, maybe I’ll come see you when everything settles down.” Kagome placed the two silk bags into the large messenger bag at her side. “You’ll need to come soon, your swords will need sharpened.”
“Alright.” Kagome bowed and with a wave, left the shop. “That was nice.”
“Hn.” Sesshomaru pushed the stroller wanting to turn around and kill the old man.
“I’m hungry.” Kagome announced. Both men sighed and followed the woman to the food court. Kagome let Sesshomaru pick what they’d eat. Finally after a 20 minute wait they finally sat down at a table with three bowls of Oden.
“Hey Mom? Do you think we have room for a few more people?” Shisuki asked having seen someone in front of him over Sesshomaru’s head.
“Sure, you know I don’t mind.” Kagome smiled.
“Hn.” Sesshomaru placed a hand on Kagome’s knee as Shisuki waved over someone from behind them.
Kagome and Sesshomaru shared a sideways look putting their utensils’ down and fisting their hands under the table. Both knew they couldn’t have a battle here in such a public place but as long as they could keep the upper hand they hopefully wouldn’t need to. They watched as close to 40 people puched tables against theirs before sitting and smiling at them.
“You in this era said nothing would change if you got to meet your kids. She said that there are times where knowing what we look like would help in battle.”
“Hn.” Sesshomaru looked at each of the new people and started taking mental notes on each one.
“Well I have just one more thing to get, but I think we need to take this outside.” Kagome said finally before beginning to eat again.
“Last time I seen you this on edge Momma, you were killing Grandpa the first time.” A man next to Kagome laughed.
“Ya well, I wish he would stay dead at times, I know when we go back and the well closes we have to deal with him again.”
Part of the table erupted in laughs. “The fight was so cool even though we only saw half of it.” A girl sitting next to Sesshomaru laughed.
“I take it you’re all mated or married or something.”
“Ya, but there is only one full couple among us, two later.” Shisuki supplied.
“So who Mated who?” Kagome pushed her empty bowl away and leaned on the table.
“Guess Momma.” A girl next to Shisuki giggled.
(A/N I haven’t even got all of the names figured out yet so I’m not even going to go into descriptions and stuff. You might get a couple but not the whole set….hint hint)
“I have two guesses but I don’t know which one would be more correct.” Kagome looked into all the eyes she could meet and studied them.
“Is it close to home or outside of it?” Kagome asked resting her head on one hand.
Everyone shared a look before Shisuki said, “Close to home.”
“Shippo and Rin-rin.”
The girl next to Sesshomaru squealed and giggled. “Pay up people I told you she’d get it.”
“I’m not paying you anything brat, you probably told her somehow. Shisuki probably told her mind-to-mind.” A man down the table grunted and crossed his arms.
“You’re just mad cause Momma’s new at being a mother and she still has skills.” The girl taunted.
“It’s got to be a Kagome thing cause she’s the only woman I know what can do it.” Kagome watched the bickering.
Sesshomaru looked over at Kagome and mentally smiled, she was almost glowing with pride.
“Alright RIn-rin, where is your twin?” Kagome turning to the girl on Sesshomaru’s side.
“Oh Athena is taking care of sick pups she said she’d try and meet up with us when her mate got home.”
“I’m a grandma?” Kagome whined.
“I told you that you were.” Shisuki laughed.
“Well it doesn’t hit a girl until you hear about them.”
“Oh so seeing Shippo, Kitchero, and my pups wasn’t enough?” Shisuki teased.
“I was standing on a building across the street, so no it didn’t” Kagome snapped leaning over the table.
“I don’t see how it’s different.” Shisuki leaned back feeling like he had won.
Kagome saw his pride swell in knowing he beat her and smiled. Kagome made a flicking motion with her free hand and sent a very light but strong spark towards Shisuki, who failed to notice it.
Shippo snorted beside Kagome he gave him a quick ‘shut up’ look. Kagome looked back to see the spark disappear into Shisuki’s hair.
“Ow, son of a bitch.” Shisuki cover his injured ear and glared at his mother. “You shouldn’t be able to do that.”
“In truth, I didn’t think I could. I was waiting for it to fizzle out but I guess God-like- powers help.”
“They shouldn’t when it comes to your kids.” Shisuki whined feeling his ear.
“Why not, you’ve been picking on me all day. And half the week, why shouldn’t I beat you up?” Kagome smiled leaning back in her chair.
“Because it’s child abuse.”
“It is not, you’re over 500 years old. I hardly see that as child abuse.”
Everyone laughed at his misfortune.
“Mate I believe we should hurry with your shopping. You will no doubt want to visit longer later, however the monk and half-breed are in charge. We also have a ceremony to complete before we leave.”
Kagome sighed. “You’re right I guess.”
“Can we take the pups?” Rin asked grabbing Sesshomaru’s sleeve. “Please? We’re all so old now, and we don’t have any babies right now. Momma and you are busy with business and everyone else is dealing with 2 year olds and 4 year olds. Please daddy?”
Sesshomaru looked over at Kagome at a loss. Even his senses were calm with the idea of this older version of Rin taking his pups. Kagome shrugged.
“You may take them for the remainder of our time here.” Sesshomaru agreed. Rin kissed his cheek and with the help of one of the other girls raced off, to god knew where, with the pups.
“Let’s get what you need and get you back to the Shrine. Uncle Inu and Uncle Miro, if I remember right, are about to try and do laundry under the orders of Auntie Sango.”
“Shit.” Kagome grabbed Sesshomaru’s hand and raced to the nearest escalator followed by Shisuki and everyone else.
Sesshomaru pretended not to be bothered by the moving thing under his feet but inside he was deeply disturbed. Focusing on his mate’ scent he tuned out the smell and loudness of the humans around him. Kagome stepped off the moving platform and pulled him towards a store where more headless people stood in funny positions wearing hardly any clothes.
Kagome pulled him to the back of the store and grabbed handfuls of one type of clothing. She handed them to Shisuki and pushed the men to the benches in front of the windows.
“Stay.” Kagome commanded before running back to the section and grabbing another handful of odd clothing.
Sesshomaru sighed and crossed his arms. He was ready to return to the shrine. A pounding behind his eyes seemed to grow with each giggle, and if he heard one more comment about how Kagome was a whore he was going to kill someone.
“I figured your patents with all of this would have disappeared a long time ago Dad.” Shisuki leaned forward resting his arms on his knees. “Mom, doesn’t do things last minute but she doesn’t spare much thought to going over the top.”
“Hn. Kagome has…a gift if you will for pushing everyone’s buttons.” Sesshomaru applied the new phrase realizing that was exactly what his mate did.
Most of the men sitting with him snorted but no one disagreed.
“Mom’s in danger dad.” Shisuki said after a moment of silence.
Sesshomaru looked over with his eyes keeping his body facing forward. “This one was under the impression you could not tell us anything that might change time.”
“Ya well, Mom being in a coma for 20 years I think deserves to be brought to attention.” Someone down the bench said also sounding tired.
“What is this coma?” Sesshomaru finally let himself sink into a relaxed state and listened to this news.
“Mom goes to sleep for 20 years. She’s perfectly fine but something goes wrong on Mt. Hakuri. We can’t say what because only you, her, and Uncle Inu are there. It’s just you flipped when it happened. Not even other miko’s could wake her up. You didn’t tell us anything and Mom won’t talk about it, but all of us from the first set of hanyous remember. We’re not trying to change time but don’t worry about her she’s just asleep.” Shisuki tried to give a reassuring smile but even he couldn’t fake it.
“if I’m meant to sleep then nothing will change that. Telling Sesshomaru not to worry will only make things worse. I’m sure you all know this.” Kagome stood holding a couple of pieces of clothing, her arms crossed. She wasn’t angry exactly but everyone could tell she wasn’t happy.
“Mate, you are not worried? “ Sesshomaru growled. Whatever this coma thing was he did not like the sound of it.
“I am, but if it is meant to happen I’m sure we can’t stop it. It’s one of those things you learn to take one step at a time. You can fight your whole life but at one point you die. I know it won’t last forever because even the Gods couldn’t keep me from you or my family. There are just something’s you have to accept.”
“You expected this to happen?” The anger was starting to show in Sesshomaru’s voice.
“No, but I was warned but Shisuki and your dad that this next mission will take a lot of power. I figured it would take me a while to get that strength back.”
“You did not plan on telling me?” Sesshomaru made a fist, growling.
“I really didn’t think I’d fall asleep for 20 years, but no I didn’t think about telling you. I have a feeling on what we’re going and if I’m right then I’ve done enough damage. I was born to give life, which is what a woman does, that is the definition of a Miko, but instead I bring death. Just drop it Mate. You will understand when everything is over.”
Kagome turned and dropped her things off at the front desk with the card. A few words were shared between Kagome and the cashier before Kagome walked out of the store.
Sesshomaru was raging inside but at the same time the burning pain in his chest was back. Kagome hadn’t know something would happen but she suspected it, so why did it feel like she had betrayed him? Why did it feel like she was leaving him?
