Chapter 2~ Meeting the Neighbor!

~~~Kagome woke up late that afternoon to the phone ringing. She hadnt bothered to set her alarm clock because there was no where she needed to be and, frankly she didnt want to walk outside her front door with her face looking like this. Feeling sore and terrible achey she reached over and grabbed the cordless and flipped the on switch.

"Hello??" she said with a half yawn as she stretched and surpressed a yelp of pain when her battered body protested to the stretch.

"Hey sis hows it going?" came the angelic voice of her sister Rin. Rin was only one year younger than her, but sometimes Kagome still saw her as that scared little girl she used to be, once upon a time. She couldnt help the protectiveness she felt now as she had way back when they were kids.

"Hey Rinny...whats up??" Kagome asked with a smile.

"I need a favor." Rin replied in a sugary sweet voice and Kagome groaned, knowing she was not going to like this.

"Depends."

"Well I need to borrow 200 dollars." Rin stated with a smile in her voice, that Kagome could just picture on her face. As if 200 dollars was chump change.

"What makes you even think I have that kind of cash anyway Rinny? You know I dont make much and what I make barely keeps me going till next paycheck." Kagome stated. If Rin needed it badly for anything for herself Kagome would hand it over in a heart beat and figure out her own situation later. But she would be damned if she would give it to her to give it to her no good boyfriend, bum of the month.

"Didnt you get paid yesterday?" Rinny asked, she didnt know Kagome had gotten fired yesterday and they were going to MAIL her last check to her.

"Didnt you?" Kagome countered. She and Rinny got paid on the same day.

"Ya but I paid all the bills and junk, then this shit happened this morning and I thought you could lend it to me till next pay day." Rin replied in one long breathless sentence. Kagome frowned.

"First of all what makes you think that I didnt pay my own bills? and what came up this morning that makes you need 200 dollars today?" Kagome asked in her big sister tone of voice.

"First of all I know you have that emergency stash of cash you keep for emergencies, second of all.....Damn it Sis why cant you just lend it to me with out asking questions?? You know Im good for it and I'll pay you back?" came Rins now irritated voice. Kagome could just picture her pouting and crossing her arms in defiance.

"Cause if its for that jerk Hiten your seeing this month then you can just forget about it." Kagome replied. She heard Rin give her trademark angry growl, which meant she was pissed and she was about to go on one of her little tantrums.

"He is not a JERK!..and what does it matter?? If I want to give him money then I can all you gotta worry about is wether you get the money back or not, what I do with it is not really any of your business!" Rin stated angerly and defensevly. Kagome sighed. When it came to Rins men it was something they could never talk civily about.

"No its not...but wether I lend it to you or not is..and Im not lending it to you Rinny." Kagome stated with her own anger rising.

"You know you can be such a real bitch sometimes Gome!!...your supposed to be my sister..your supposed to help me when I need it and I need it now dammit..Hiten is in Jail and I need to bail him out!" Rin practically shouted. So now Kagome knew what she needed the money for, but she was no way in hell going to give it to Rin to bail Hiten out of jail. The jackass deserved it.

"Call me a bitch if you want to, Im not lending it to you, I need that money and Hiten can stay there for all I care." Kagome replied with annoyance.

"Your just jealous Gome..you know that?? your jealous I have someone and you dont." Rin replied spitefully and hung up the phone. Kagome turned the cordless off and sighed. No Rinny Im not jealous. Who could be jealous of a man who sold her stuff to buy drugs?? stole her money? layed around all day eating everything in site and making a mess as he had all his friends over the apartment drinking and doing drugs while she was at work? And not once did he ever help to pitch in to pay for a single slice of bread forget even paying a bill?

~~~This was normal Rin behavoir. The only thing she could really think of that the men Rin dated had that made them slighty decent, was that none of them ever hit her. But they used her alot. It was classic Rin. Yes they had survived. Kagome, Rin and thier mom had survived the hell of thier father, but thier lives after that hadnt been all peaches and cream. But either way, as far as Kagome and Rin went, both had not survived without scares from thier child hood. Both were looking to be loved. To be needed and wanted. To find that piece of them that they had missed growing up. While Kagome shyed away from men, when she did actually alllow herself to fall in love she fell in love fast and hard. And she usually ended up with a grade A jerk. Cheaters, abusers, be it mental or physical. But Hojo had been the worse. Truthfully in all of Kagome's 19 years of life, she had only had 3 boyfriends in her life. All she had loved with out question, all had hurt her in some way.

~~~Now as for Rin. Well she was like the total oppisite of Kagome. Kagome was usually more reserved and dressed more casual. Rin liked to grab attention, from her dress style, her hair and make up, her bubbly outspoken attitude and personality, and to gorgeous hunk of men who were all bad boys. Rin couldnt resist a bad boy. Except for the beating part, the badder the more attracted she was to him. She couldnt help it. Kagome knew she was either punishing herself or felt like she didnt deserve a nice guy. Many nice respectable sweet guys had tried dating her and she even dated a few but she always said they were boring and she wanted a guy who could hold his own in a fight and protect her, not a guy she would have to protect. It sort of made sense, but Kagome couldnt help but feel sorrow for her sister and herself. Thier mom had moved on, found her one true love. As for Rin and Kagome they were still looking, but if they kept on the track they were on they were never going to find him. They were in someway on some level slowly self destructing, and Kagome hoped with all her heart that if anyone of them could pull threw it would be Rin. She loved Rin with all her heart and couldnt bare the thought of her in any pain.

~~~Kagome was about to dial her mom's phone number when she heard a knock at the door. She sighed and got up slowly. Then went to the front door and peeped out of the peep hole, praying it wasnt Hojo. Nope, it was a woman, a very pretty woman about her age with silver hair and amber eyes. Wow she was very pretty and silver hair and amber eyes were rare, not non existent but rare.

"Yes?? Who is it?" Kagome said threw the door, always a bit leary about strangers.

"Ohh hi Im sorry..Im your new nieghbor, my names Kyoto and I really dont mean to bother you but..well I was wondering..do you know anything about computers???" came the melodic voice of the woman, that Kagome recognized fromt he night before. Yep she was the same woman who she had seen last night with the other man in the apartment next door. Kagome let the dead bold loose and unlocked the other locks of the door.

"Im sorry for bothering you but this is really import....." Kyoto's voice broke off there as she stared at Kagome. Kagome frowned and wondered why the girl was staring at her the way she was, till she remembered her face. Kagome blushed and lowered her head just a bit.

"Im sorry...are..are you alright?" Kyoto asked with sincere concern and Kagome smiled.

"Ya im alright I had a little accident last night but Im fine thank you for asking..now what was this about computers??" Kagome asked, trying to get the woman off the topic of her face. Sensing that it was none of her business and something Kagome didnt want to talk about she went along.

"Oooh Gods yes do you have any clue about them??? I wouldnt be asking but the man who was supposed to set up my computer never showed up and if I dont send over the documents by 2 pm my brother is going to have a fit and the deal will go down the drain and I will never hear the end of it.." the woman named Kyoto went on and on and Kagome couldnt help but smile. She looked upset but seemed like a pretty easy going person.

"Ya I can set it up for you..I know a bit about computers..depending on what kind it is I should be able to have it up and running for you in less than half an hour." Kagome replied. The smile on Kyotos face lite up and she looked at Kagome as if she were an angel. Kagome just laughed at the look as she followed Kyoto to her own apartment.

~~~Kagome scanned the apartment quickly and noticed it was basicly like her own except flip side and boxes were everywhere. The only thing that was semi set up in the living room was a computer desk and all the equipment for said compter. Wires and boxes and devices layed tangles and in disarray. Kyoto wrung her hands nervously and gave a half giggle.

"As you can see I have no idea how to set those stupid things up..I just know the basics, I type the report I send the report..the rest is usually set up by one of my assistants..but my last assistant quite to get married and I havent found a replacement." she replied nervously. Kagome looked at her a bit oddly.

"Assistant?? You look really really young to have an assitant, no offense." Kagome replied as she got to work tetangling the computer stuff and getting them ready to set up.

"Ya I know..but since I dont have a clue about computers or software I need one..daddy always thought Id go to college or see the world and settle down with a husband and kids and leave the runing of the business to the men folk." Kyoto replied dryly rolling her eyes at her fathers words.

"I guess I should of learned how to work the stupid things..it might of made my dad a bit more convinced I was serious about working for the family business but, Im more of a people person, and electronic stuff just gives me a headache, thats why I chose to work on public relations but the down side about that is that I have to write up my weekly reports on my department and send it to my brother via computer, and hes meeting with one of our clients today and if he doesnt have my report he will go balistic..and Sess is not one to piss off." she added, waving her hand, as if the thought of a pissed of brother and a ruined business deal was not big in the sceme if life.

"Who are you?" Kagome asked with a little frown and amusement in her eyes as she crawled from underneath the computer desk, having set up all the cables and now starting her task as booting the whole thing up. The girl looked at her and frowned.

"Im Kyoto Takashi..and you are?" she replied with a huge warm smile as she held her hand out to shake it. Kagome looked up at her and her mouth hung open. She took her hand weakly and shook it.

"My..my names Kagome Hiragashi..your..your...are you related to THE TAKASHI'S? of Takashi Unlimeted Coporations?" Kagome asked, recognizing the name. It was the biggest and most largest coperations in all Japan, Hojo's family's company was its rival.

"Why yes..youve heard of Daddy's company?" Kyoto smiled proudly but warmly.

"Who hasnt..TUC is a major wheeler and dealer in the business world and has thier fingers in several lucrative side companies." Kagome replied absently. If this girl was related to the Takashis what the heck was she doing in a second rate apartment in a second rate neighborhood like this? She should be in a condominium or penthouse suit in upscale Tokyo, if not living in some huge mansion.

"Ya thats Daddy's Company, although Sess and Inu are doing most of the business handling right now..Daddy retired to spend his golden years with mom traveling the world..he said he wanted to enjoy life at a ripe young age and left the reins of the company to my brothers." Kyoto replied with a giggle at the stunned look on Kagome's face.

"What the heck are you doing here?" Kagome asked before she could think to shut her mouth. She blushed once the words were out and looked away.

"Im sorry I didnt mean to be nosey." she added with apology.

"Dont be..its not big..and truthfully Im here because I want to be here." she smiled.

"But you can live anywhere you want..why would you choose to live in a second rate area in a second rate apartment building when you could live in luxery?" Kagome asked. Again blushing.

"Thats just the point...Do you know how phoney people in the upper crust of society are?? Take my brother for instance..I dont think the man has laughed in like forever..hes so serious all the time..and Inu?? Well Inu is the typical rebellious one of the family..he likes shocking the hell outta people..he says the upper crust is soo stale and stuffy they need to be rocked out of thier coma's every now and then.." Kyoto replied with a laugh. She adored her brothers and they were actually great guys. But Sess was too stuffy and soo serious, while Inu was the total oppisite, always making trouble and getting his mug on the tabloids alot. But both lived in twin penthouses at the Company, reserved for them and them alone. There was a total of four of them on one floor and they had tried to convince Kyoto to move into one of those if she insisted on moving out of the huge mansion on the hill, which was big and lonely now that her parents were away on thier world wind trip.

~~~Kyoto had refused. Like Inu she found the uppercrust stoic and stuffy and couldnt stand to be around them, and living next door to her brothers was too much like living back at home with them. As much as she loved them they were way over protective and butted into her life way to much for her taste. She wanted freedom. She wanted to experience life as a real person, a normal person. She wanted to have normal friends and eat at normal everyday restraunts, go to the park and just be well Normal. So she choose to live here. It wasnt the bad part of town but not exactly the most respectable, but it was safe and normal. People here tended to be hard working people who lived life as every day sort of folks. She wanted that with all her heart. Ya so she was working for her daddy's company and had a trust fund that could choke an elephant, but none of that really mattered, well her job did, she was good at it and she liked it. It wasnt like she was ceo of the public relations section, in fact she was just one of the ordinary working people there with no title or any real perks. Not that her family hadnt wanted to give her a title and a humungous office, she just wouldnt take it. she wanted to work her way up.

"All done." Kagome said as she dusted her hands off and stood back to let Kyoto see a fully working and functioning computer. Kyoto clapped her hands in joy as she went to it and tried with all her might to call up the documents she needed, but to her dismay they werent coming up.

"Dang it..NO NO NO..where is that stupid document?" she cried as she pressed button after button with no luck.

"Whats the document called?" Kagome asked, moving in next to Kyoto and hitting some buttons. Kyoto told her and in seconds Kagome had the document up.

"Oh your a life saver Kagome..thank you thank you thank you...how can I ever repay you?" Kyoto said happily as she faxed the documents to her brothers office as she flipped open her cell phone and called Sess's private line.

"Sess?? the documents are on the way to your office as we speak." she said proudly intot he phone giving Kagome a wink. Kagome smiled.

"You need to hurry and find an assistant Sess...youd think the boss of a muli comglomerate company would know where the fax machine was..sheeesh." she sighed as she teased her brother. When he began to get on her about her choice of apartments and decisions Kyoto knew it was time to hang up.

"Id love to talk more brother dear but I have a freind over and I dont want to be rude so I will talk to you later." she said with a grin as she flipped her phone down and automaticly hung it up. She grinned at Kagome.

"Hes such a pain sometimes..but I love him to death." she added with a warm smile.

"Well..I think I better go now..it was nice meeting you Kyoto.." Kagome smiled as she prepared to leave.

"Ohhh you cant leave before you tell me how I can repay you for all your help." Kyoto stopped her. Kagome smiled.

"No need It was my pleasure."

"How bout dinner?? I know that sounds wierd but I wanted to get to know the area around here and planned on eating out since I cant cook worth crap..and I would love it if youd join me..you can show me around too." Kyoto asked hopefully. Kagome smiled weakly and tried to find a good excuse not to go, not that she didnt want to, but her face.

"Come on it will be fun.." Kyoto persisted as she watched the uncertainty in Kagome's face and the hand that went to the bruise on her eye. Kagme didnt even know what she had done and Kyoto had guessed her reason for her reluctance.

"Alright..I'll go..but nothing fancy k??" Kagome pleaded with a hopefull look.

"Anything you want to eat is fine with me..bugers and fries, pizza what ever..thanks soo much Kagome."

"Your welcome and thank you..welcome to the nieghborhood Kyoto I hope you like it here."

"Oooh Im sure I will..Ive already met a wonderfull nieghbor and now Im going out into my new neighbor hood with her..how much cooler can that be." Kyoto smiled. Kagome waved bye and went back to her own place.

~~~Kyoto let out a deep breath as she closed the door behind Kagome. She didnt like this at all. Everything she had told Kagome had been the honest truth..she wanted everything she had said, but she left out that the only reason her brothers werent having a stroke right now was because for thier plan. They knew all about Kagome having dated Hojo, thier companies rival's son. Inu's great tracking and investigating skills had led them to the leak in thier company. Someone was stealing and selling import company secrets and the only lead them to the person selling them. Hojo. But how he got the stuff was unclear and they needed to know how. They thought the only way to get a bit closer to her was threw the only person he seemed hell bent on having back in his life. Kagome Hiragashi. Kyoto knew Hojo had been at her apartment last night, and she was pretty sure it was Hojo who had given her that shiner and busted lip. It was no secret that the all perfect, prince and hier to the Hagashi company had a bit of a bad temper. Kyoto hated lying to Kagome but she had no choice, when it came to family, they came first.

A/N~okies heres chap 2 sorry if you found it a bit boring but I had to get some of this out to set up the plot line a bit. Let me know what you think k?? till next chap huggles and smiles Mija..:-)
