Chapter 3
Love

Kaede decided to leave to the two alone.
“What is wrong?” Kagome asked.
He smiled and kissed her more passionately. She melted in his arms. But, she still didn't feel to well so she pulled away and climbed into his arms. He held her as she fell asleep. Inuyasha's mind was going wild.
“You know you want her,” came a voice.
“That is just my daemon blood talking,” came another.
“So, you know you want her,” repeated the first voice.
“Yeah, but it isn't all up to me,” replied the first voice.
“Miroku got what he wanted.”
“Yeah, but I want it to be special.”
“What ever,” came the first voice. Inuyasha fell asleep arguing with himself. It seemed that his human blood had won, for now.
A few hours later Shippo walked into the hut. “Kagome! You're better!” he yelled, but he woke up Inuyasha.
“Shh!” he said. “She needs to sleep.”
Shippo, feeling bad for yelling, went outside to wait for Miroku and Sango to come back.
Inuyasha looked down at the young girl in his arms. The one he longed for. The one he wanted to make his mate. The one he always wanted to be with. He sighed and smiled at Kagome.

Sango and Miroku

Sango smiled at Miroku. “We should be getting back to Kaede's hut,” she said.
“Yea, I hope Kagome is okay,” Miroku replied.
“I am sure she is,” Sango said. She put her hand in his as they walked.
When they arrived at Kaede's hut, they saw a very pale Kagome sitting near a tree. Sango ran over to her. “Are you okay?” she questioned.
Kagome, still weak, smiled. “Yeah, Inuyasha made sure of that,” she glanced over at Inuyasha, who was sitting in the tree above her. Sango noticed a glitter in her eyes that wasn't there before.
Miroku went over to Inuyasha. “So, did you tell her?” Miroku asked.
“Ehh,” he replied, not coming down from the tree.
“You must have said something to her. Her eyes are gleaming!” Miroku stated.
Inuyasha had noticed the new glitter in her eyes, he also knew it was because of him, her love for him. Inuyasha watched Kagome from the tree.
“You and Sango hit is off fast,” Inuyasha said closing his eyes.
Miroku blushed and rubbed his head. “I couldn't help myself.”
“Ehh,” Inuyasha said.

Two months later

Everyone was asleep but Inuyasha. He sat high in a tree, keeping away from Kagome. He was afraid of what he might do. She was in fact in heat,( or that was what Inuyasha called it) Her scent filled his nose. He could almost not handle himself. So, he kept himself isolated from her. `She has been in heat before, why is it bothering me so much now?!' he asked himself. He didn't know that Kagome wasn't sleeping down below. He was looking at the stars, lost stars thoughts. Kagome rolled over so she could look at him.
`The moon!' her mind exclaimed. She smiled, `In the moon light he looks even more attractive.' But her smiled soon faded. `He has been avoiding me these past few days. I miss him, even though he is right above me.' Inuyasha then noticed she was awake and looked down at her. When he made eye contact he almost jumped down and took her. But he turned his head. Kagome, felling hurt, got out of her sleeping bag and walked deeper into the forest. Inuyasha couldn't keep her out of his sight, followed her. Kagome found a log to sit on. Not noticing Inuyasha in a near by tree, she started to cry.
He smelt her salty tears. He had to comfort her.
“Inuyasha,” she whispered when he jumped down. He walked over and wiped her tears away. His eyes shone in the moonlight. “Inuyasha, why have you been avoiding me?” she whispered so low that only he could hear her. Inuyasha was holding himself back.
“I am afraid of what I might do if I am to close,” he said looking down on the ground.
“What do you mean?” she asked confused.
“I love you and your scent has been so strong myself around you.”
Kagome understood. She thought it was that he didn't love her anymore. She laughed.
“What the hell is so funny?” he questioned. “I can really hurt you! Half of me is telling me to take you! All the while, the other half is holding me back! I know what side is right, but I am not sure how much longer I can hold back. I love you so much.”
She moved closer to him. “I trust you,” she whispered into his ear. Her scent hit him at full blast. He let himself go. He pulled Kagome into a kiss. She opened her mouth, and put her hands around his neck. He put his hands on her waist and pulled her closer to his body. His hands started to go up into her shirt, but he pulled away from her. She smiled, “See, I trust you.”
“I don't trust myself,” he said. Her eyes lost their gleam, and were filled with sorrow. “Don't be sad, it will only be for a few more days.” He leaned closer, as Kagome smiled. “I love you,” but he then jumped into the trees. Kagome's smiled faded.
“I love you too,” she said, knowing that he heard her. She started to walk back to camp.
`That was close,' he said to himself leaning back into the tree. He sighed as he watched a depressed Kagome walk back to camp. The breeze blew her raven hair around as she walked. He suddenly jumped out of the tree and over to her. He grabbed her into his arms. She giggled as he tickled her sides. He then leaned closer to her face, her hot breath on her skin. He kissed her. `He has never kissed me like this before!' Kagome's mind raced, she blushed deeply. But, he let go to soon for Kagome and jumped back into the tree, leaving her in a daze. He loved the taste of her lips, but he knew if he had stayed down with her a minute longer, he would have lost control of himself. He closed his eyes, after he watched Kagome make her way back to camp.

The next morning they were off again. “Inuyasha hasn't talked to any of us in a few days.” Miroku said looking in the trees for him.
Kagome blushed when he said this. Her mind went back to the night before. And the last kiss.
“Kagome, do you know what is wrong?” Sango asked.
Kagome blinked out of her daydream. “No,” she lied. She searched the treetops for him, but not finding him anywhere in sight. Kagome walked ahead of everyone.
“I feel bad for Kagome, Inuyasha hasn't been to nice to her when he does talk to her.” Sango said sadly.
Miroku grabbed her hand. “Look at the way her eyes gleam, and look at her smile.” Sango looked at her. “See, there is something between the two we can not see. Yeah, it is probably hurting her but I bet she really knows something about why he is acting this way.”
“You're right Miroku,” Sango replied. “But, why would she lie to us?”
“She might have her own reasons,” he stated.

On the night of the full moon Inuyasha came down from the treetops to sit with Kagome by the fire.
“Inuyasha, you trust yourself now?” she asked still looking in the fire.
He smiled, “Enough to do this,” and he kissed her just like that last night they talked. She pulled away.
“You know, even though I knew you were always near by, I missed you,” she walked over to a hilltop. She sat down and pulled her knees to her chest and rested her head on her knees. Inuyasha followed her.
“What is wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing,” she lied.
“I know you better than you think I do. Now what is wrong?”
“You act like you didn't even miss me!” she whispered.
“How could I? You were on my mind every damn minute I was away.”
“Really?” she asked lifting her head.
“You remember the last time we talked?” Kagome shook her head, `yes.' “Well the past few days I had to control myself, even though I wanted you, I stopped myself. You were they only thing on my mind.” He starred into the eyes he longed for. She was so happy she jumped on top of him, and kissed him. He sat up and shifted her in his arms. He looked up at the full moon. “Kagome?”
“Hmm?” she replied.
“Will you…uhh…be..m-m-my mate?” he finally got out.
Kagome looked up at him and into his golden eyes. She blushed. “Yes,” she whispered pushing herself closer to his body. He felt so happy at that moment. He kissed her on her forehead. “You have made me so happy Kagome,” he said.
She smiled and also looked at the full moon. But, her smile soon faded. “Inuyasha?” she asked.
“Huh?”
“Once all the shards are brought together, what…”
Inuyasha cut her off. “We will worry about that when the time comes. Don't worry.”
