Chapter 5: An Unexpected Choice
open your eyes. Now Kagome! Child do not roll over and groan up at me now open your eyes this second. We do not have much time!" At these words Kagome let out a groan as she opened her eyes. All the world was a blur as she tilted her head to her right side she could make out a shadowy dark haired female figure. She shook her head from side to side while rapidly blinking her eyes trying to bring her world back into focus. Slowly the view of the world around her came back into focus. Slowly she sat up and looked around her. No longer was she surronded by the scene of an immense battle. Now she was on a grassy hillside in a large plain with green flowing grasses surronding her. She turned back to the female beside her and could only gape at her. The woman was similar in apperance to both her and Kikyo. Who was this woman. As she opened her mouth to speak she was cut off as the lady answered for her.
I see that you have many questions. Our time here in this place is short and I will explain as much as possible although I think I will not be able to reveal all." With this the woman gave Kagome a hand up as she got a good look at her. She was of the same height with the same blue black hair. Only hers was the length of Kikyo's but with the same wave at the bottom as Kagome's. She had a kind face that at the moment was looking severe as she stared into Kagome's eyes. The mystery lady was clad in some sort of ancient dress with armour that was old even for fuedal era. As she released Kagome's hand she slowly placed her own over the top of her sword as she began to speak again.
am sure that you have guessed by now who I am have you not young Miko." The mystery woman said.
Kagome replied"You are Midoriko."
young Miko. I am Midoriko. I have brought you to this memory of mine to try and help you. As you are aware only moments ago you were engaged in a battle with your companions. During the fight you were injured as you used your energy to protect your kit. If you had not been shielding him you could have protected yourself, but you selflessly shielded him from harm while fighting the rest off. Even now your body is slowly dying as your blood stains the battlefield. This is not your time to die. The fates have smiled this day. I have been allowed to interfere and come to you. Kagome you are the keeper of the Shikon No Tama. Only you must protect it until it can be completely purified. For this reason I have come to give you a choice. With the rate that you are bleeding you will most assuredly perish. Even if the great taiyoukai Sesshomaru can use his healing sword on you, your human body can not withstand the blood loss. Now you have two choices. You can go back to your body and die. Or you can turn into a youkai. I have the power to turn you but it comes with a price. This price is the fact that you will be practicaly an immortal. Youkai's have vast life spans. This means that your family will grow old and die as will all your human friends while you stay alive."
these are my only options to die myself now or see all of my friends die in the future. How am I to make a choice like this quickly." stated Kagome.
am sorry for the rush you Miko. I know that the decision is a hard one for you. But it must be made now. So come what is your choice." said Midiriko.
large brown eyes swam with unshed tears as she made her reply. I chose....."
