From demons to dementors
“now Mr. Black, let's see if your soul is still intact” she laid her hand on his chest, uncharacteristically happy when it moved up and down with his breathing. After few moments of assessment, she stood back up, turning fully to the concerned wizards. Great, now they will pester me with their whining she thought sadly, wondering if she could stay within the barrier for a few years, deciding that that would not be the best course of action she flicked her hand, forcing the energy to return back to its master, the barrier fell…and with it, her peace and quiet.
“you killed him!!!!” harry, oblivious to the danger that he was putting himself into, ran over to kagome and punched her in the face, causing her head to whip around. The adults got out their wands, ready for a battle that they were sure to lose. Well that was unexpected
“foolish child” kagome slowly turned her face back to the small annoyance at her feet. Harry gulped and backed away a foot or so, unwilling to leave his godfathers body. He glared at her.
“if this is how you have been going along with trying to fight off voldermort, then it's no wonder you are losing an already lost battle” she straitened up to her full height, tasting the fear in the air. too much like inuyasha's battle plans for my liking, run straight into danger, attack whatever moves, then realize what the hell you did wrong afterwards. She sighed
“running up to someone who can kill you without question and attacking them is not wise for someone so weak” she said to harry, but the statement reached all their ears, echoing deep inside them and reflecting on their past efforts. Hmmm, this conversation sounds familiar, oh yeah! When sesshoumaru and inuyasha would fight and sesshoumaru would taunt inuyasha into acting like a reckless beast she thought sarcastically
“my godfather was not weak!! I'll make you pay for killing him!!!” harry yelled at her She sighed does no one pay attention to anything anymore? She was starting to get annoyed with the constant accusations.
“well what did you expect? Praise from the worthless humans that you actually refrained from killing one of their own?” a voice whispered in the back of her head, she chose to ignore it. She turned her attention back on the small human still looking at her pathetically
“oh? Little human, and how do you suppose you would do that?” kagome taunted, amusement clearly written on her face.
“I'll kill you!!!” harry yelled again recklessly. Kagome heard chuckling in her mind.
“good luck with that” kagome gave him a look that said he had a snowballs chance in hell against her.
“what am I suppose to do?! Just let you get away with killing my godfather!!” harry's shoulders slumped. Why does everyone make this so much harder than it has to be? Kagome asked herself, trying to tune out the laughter in her head
“no, you get stronger, you bide your time, plot and scheme so that you have the advantage and most important of all…you remember. Remember so that you will never forget, so that you fight just that much harder, so that when you finally do become strong enough to destroy your enemies, that you can do it without regret” kagome looked at each and every person in the room with powerful eyes, overflowing with age and experience. Harry stated to shake, angrily wiping the tears away
“but what if I fail?” he asked brokenly. Kagome put her hands on his shoulders and looked him dead in the eyes, he couldn't look away from her. Poor boy, you are young and you are foolish but you are loyal and that will help you in your quest. Kagome offered him a silent prayer of good luck
“should you fail, die, knowing that you fought for what you believe in, die, knowing that while tomorrow may never come for you again, that the people you love will live for just that much longer….DIE! with that person's name on your lips as the last drop of life slips away from your body” kagome closed her eyes for a brief moment. A groan from the floor broke the empowering silence that was overwhelming the wizards.
“Sirius!” harry dropped to the floor beside him and started to shake him.
“he's not dead!” he laughed, smiling up at everyone. No shit Sherlock she snorted. The rest of the wizards ran over to Sirius and started to help him, harry looked up to kagome, who was staring straight ahead of her as if seeing something that they couldn't.
“thank you” he whispered, kagome didn't acknowledge him, but he knew she heard him.
“that was nice of you”
“oh look, he is smiling at you..how utterly disgusting”
“go to hell…both of you” kagome ended the short exchange of opinions in her head, frowning when she couldn't banish the sinister chuckling distracting her from the real world.
“Mr.Black will wake up in 3 days, he needs rest and a bath. In the meantime, I have to run an errand. I will be back soon after Mr.Black reacquaints himself with the land of the conscious. Should anything happen to Souta while I am absent from his side…”she trailed off eying the wizards in warning.
“wait! Where are you going?” Lupin stood up and asked her.
“to get some questions answered, it's too dangerous to walk this path ignorant to the dangers we will soon face” she looked around the room warily
“who can answer these questions?” Lupin asked, very curious and concerned for Kagome's safety
“someone a lot older then you” she smirked at their confused looks. Kagome cracked her knuckles in one quick, Inuyasha like, move.
“are you thinking of asking them?”
“traitor whores the both of them”
“hahaha, not too pleased with them are you?”
“insufferable wench!”
“hahahahahahheheh…..”
“time to piss off an old acquaintance” she grinned, happy that the voices had finally quieted. Souta got up from Sirius's side and walked over to Kagome.
“sis? How are you going to get there? We are all the way in England…aren't all your…friends…back in Japan?” Souta whispered worriedly. Kagome smiled at him and patted his head in a loving manner.
“if I told you that, then I would have to cut out your tongue, and we know how much you love ice cream…what's ice cream without a tongue?” she winked at him playfully behind the wizards backs. Ignoring the annoyed looks souta was giving her, she addressed the wizards.
“do you have an empty room in this house that is west bound?” she asked them, mentally checking inventory for the things she would need for her trip.
“yeah, we got one, what you need it for?” mad eye moody grunted. Kagome looked him over.
“may I occupy it for 3 days?” Kagome decided it would be more polite to ask, rather than just take it and laugh at their futile attempts to stop her.
“softy” a voice snickered
“shut up”
“I don't see why not…although…it would be nice if you gave us some insight as to what's going on here” he waved a hand around the room, indicating that he meant everything and not just the room. Kagome inwardly debated with herself for a few short moments
“Mr.Black was possessed by one of my…enemies; I need to contact some of my…allies and inform them of the more recent developments” Kagome carefully observed his reaction. The rest of the group had listened in to the brief conversation and were now pondering her words.
“just how powerful is your enemy?” Lupin asked quietly
“powerful” Kagome spat out with disgust clearly written in her voice
“admit it…you're proud of him”
“hardly”
“so we both have powerful enemies it seems” Mr.Weasley joined the small discussion, warning the children with his eyes, not to get involved in this conversation.
“and your enemy is now plaguing us” Kagome frowned at the woman in the corner, Tonks was her name, she had forgotten about the insignificant girl with the pink hair
“yes” Kagome answered coolly
“this does not bode well with us” moody mumbled
“there is a simple solution to this problem” Kagome shifted her weight to the balls of her feet, impatient with this conversation. The adults looked at her in question.
“ you can either fight with me, tolerating the dangers that come with it, as I help you to win your battle against Voldermort…or…you can fight by your selves, I will leave, taking my enemies with me and you can try to win your own battle…without my aid” she waited, letting them think over the options she gave them.
“this is a hard decision for us to make” Mr.Weasly sighed heavily.
“I understand…but know this, should I leave…you will not win, you will all die, plain and simple, you all are not trained enough, not powerful enough to win this war” Kagome told them bluntly
“……….”
“but the…risks that come with me are not something to be taken lightly either. There are some things that are worse than death, sadly, you will most likely face a great deal of those things should you enlist my help…. Sometimes death can be a gift, known only by the lucky” Kagome's eyes hardened as she finished her small speech in a whisper. The wizards looked truthfully troubled by what she said, taking time to really think over the proposition. Lupin walked forward, breaking the small circle of adults.
“Kagome, you have given us much to think about…but I think that this answer is an obvious one” Lupin looked into Kagome's cold eyes, finally understanding what it is that he saw in them, that special little glimmer that made her different from the rest of them.
He saw a survivor
