AnimeLover23: I think she might, but I don’t know how to really bring her into the story. Maybe Kagome’s cousin?

“It’s his choice but that sounds like a good idea. He can keep then with him forever of let them go somewhere nice.” Kagome whispered yawning.
“I’m going to Colorado in two weeks. I would love it if you would go with me but I would understand if you want to stay.”
“We’ll see.” Kagome muttered falling asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~Now
The sun outside woke Kagome up but that wasn’t all. The warmth at her back was missing. She rolled over and found herself alone in the bed. Looking around Kagome could find no evidence that her lover was still present. Someone knocked on the door and she growled at herself for not noticing sooner and dropping her defense.
“Who is it?” She called looking around for a knife or something. She slid a hand under the pillow and felt nothing. She looked at the foot of the bed where she remember discarding them and found an empty floor.
“It’s Shippo.” Kagome racked through her head and remember the kitsune. Looking down she grabbed a handful of blankets and covered her body.
“Come in.” The door opened and the kit stumbled in backwards. “Inu Yasha said you weren’t dressed but when you are he would appreciate it if you joined us for breakfast. And to also tell you he had your weapons sent to be sharpened and repaired. A gun is under the bed.”
“Thank you Shippo. I’ll be there in a minute.” Shippo walked forward and reached behind him shutting the door.
Kagome leaned over the side of the bed and pulled out the gun. She had no idea how to use one and found the contraption did more harm than good. She placed it back under the bed and dressed.
The apartment smelled of eggs, bacon, and waffles. Things that Kagome had only saw when walking by a diner or café. Inu Yasha stood in front of the stove stirring something.
“Morning sleeping beauty.” He grinned.
Kagome snorted and found a cup. Inu Yasha had made coffee! She poured a cup and took a sip letting out a sigh afterwards.
Shippo sat in a pile of phone books at the table. He was sipping orange juice and waiting for the food to be served.
“Hungry?” Inu Yasha emptied the pan into a bowl and took it to the table. Kagome looked to see what it was but gave up.
“A little.” She yawned and made her way to the table to sit next to Inu Yasha and the kit.
“I hope your not mad that I sent your weapons to Totosai. We should get them back by lunch.” Inu Yasha served her a waffle and offer syrup. Kagome shook her head and took a spoon full of eggs and a slice of bacon.
Across the table Shippo was eating his share of the food. Kagome watched as he finished off his eggs and popped the last of the meat into his mouth.
“I hope you don’t mind the bacon being half cooked.” kagome looked won at the meat and shook her head. Living off cheap stuff she could care less if it was raw or cooked.
“It’s fine.” She smiled.
Inu Yasha sighed. “I give up.” he shoved a bite of waffle into his mouth.
“I’m sorry, I’m not a morning person.” Kagome laughed.
“That’s fine. Oh and Totosai is also fixing that hole in your armor. He is extending the bullet-proof vest to cover your stomach also since it’s just covering your chest now.” Kagome leaned over and pecked his cheek.
“Keep this up and I’ll get soft.” She half sung.
He laughed. “No, because since Sesshomaru is back in town you’ll be training with us above the office. I’ve also enrolled Shippo in school and after talking we decided to cremate his parents.”
“My you’ve been a busy bee haven’t you.” Kagome laughed.
“Not really. Now, since training and your night job, what else do you do?” Inu Yasha filled his plate again and helped Shippo to more.
Kagome ate a side of her waffle thinking. “I’m good with mate and science. I know cars, like how to repair them...” She took another bite of food. “And I know medicine.”
“Good, then we can set you up with a job working with Kyade.”
“A....a job.” Kagome choked on a bite of food. “I’ve only worked unloading boxes from a truck. A medical job is....different.”
Inu Yasha patted her back. “Do you know herbs?”
“Well ya. I’m a miko its part of my powers.” Kagome took a drink of coffee and sat her fork down.
“Good, we can start you next week.” Inu Yasha finished off his plate.
“Kagome?” Kagome looked over at Shippo.
“Hum?”
He was silent for a minute. “Never mind.”
Kagome looked at Inu Yasha and he shrugged. It was a kid, who knew.
“What is it Shippo? You can ask me or even Inu Yasha.” Kagome smiled and patted the boy’s head.
“I forgot.” He mumbled. Inu Yasha motioned for Kagome not to push. She had no plan in pushing the boy to tell them something and left it at that.
They worked together to clean up and after a little disagreement with Shippo’s street worn clothes they lets the apartment.
“Hey Inu Yasha?” Kagome said looking out into the city streets as they passed in the limo.
“Ya.” He held her hand next to her with Shippo in her lap. The kit standing cautiously to look out the window.
“Don’t you have a mansion or something? I mean you haven’t left my side for two days. Three maybe.... im losing track. Don’t you need to go check in or something?” Kagome looked at him. She didn’t want it to sound like she wanted him to leave but she was curious. He was rich and could get whatever he wanted but she had yet to see more than the office rooms and her apartment.
Inu Yasha looked at her for a second then laughed. Kagome looked confused at his outburst. “Ya I have another house, your living in it. The apartment it my second home next to the office.”
Kagome’s mouth dropped ope. “Then I’m imposing on you. I’m sorry.” She whispered the apology and looked into her lap. The grip on her hand tightened.
“Don’t think that.” He growled. “I know what you needed when I asked you to work for me. All though the falling in love was a different matter all its own.” He laughed and Kagome watched him out of the corner of her eye. She was different around him; less scared and cautious. In a way she was a fool with him. A fool that if not careful would end up dead.
Kagome smiled at him with a twitch of her lips.
“Now don’t go cold on me Kagome. I mean it.” Inu Yasha turned serious it was almost scary.
Kagome shook her head. “I love you too, but I’m not doing to let my guard down. I’ve tried to survive to long to screw up now.”
Inu Yasha’s ears dropped a slight bit and Kagome caught the movement. “I’m just saying, that if the need arises I will defend myself, but I have to start getting back into my routine. Especially if I’m going to Colorado with you.” She sighed. How could she say that? She couldn’t leave the city just like that! To late now.
Inu Yasha almost howled at her words. She wasn’t deigning him, she was only protecting herself. If she was his mate though.....he would take care of her. In the back of his mind he doubted she would let him though.
“Kagome, we can take it slow. Clean up the city a bit and make it to where you only have to do hour patrols and in certain areas on certain days. If we can work together on this then I’ll even go out with you a few nights.” He grinned at her.
Kagome was shocked he even offered. She would love it if her joined her, though she would be to worried about trying to keep him safe. But he was a demon. Kagome grinned back at him.
The car came to a stop and they climbed out. The sidewalk was packed and horns blared around them. What could you expect though on a Monday in New York.
Kagome bounced into the building tugging Inu Yasha with her. Shippo hid under her hair at the nap of her neck. The looks people gave them as they walked in wearing street clothes were almost terrifying to the kit.
“Hey Shippo?” Kagome asked skipping into the elevator with 5 other people and Inu Yasha.
The kitsune leaned close to her ear not wanting anyone to er him let alone see him. “Ya?”
Kagome felt his breath on her ear and flipped up her hood. Shippo moved to a more comfortable position.
“You need clothes and I need a dress.” She looked over at Inu Yasha who had turned his ears to listen to the conversation. He grinned for a second then turned business again. “I think if was suck up to Inu Yasha enough he’ll take us to get what we need.”
“Ya think?” Shippo whispered.
Kagome nodded with her head barely moving her neck.
The doors dinged open and Kagome moved so the other people could file out. The doors shut again and they were alone. The ride to the next floor was fast. Kagome skipped out and down the hall. Inu Yasha smiled as she bounced in front of him. His ears swivelled picking up a small sound.
“Kagome stop.” He ordered. Kagome stopped in place. One foot on the ground the other slightly raised.
The ticking continued and Shippo crawled out of his hiding spot to listen. “That’s no watch.” He whispered.
Kagome sent her miko power out and heard the ticking from the other side of the door. A think smell layered the air. She didn’t notice it before and kicked herself for it. She was getting soft..very soft.
“It’s a bomb.” She whispered. Shippo nodded thinking the same thing.
Inu Yasha motioned to a door a few feet from him. Kagome stepped lightly into the stairwell and Inu Yasha shut the door silently behind him.
“I don’t know if it’s a time or a trigger.” Kagome jumped onto the railing.
“I’m going with trigger. Let’s start getting everyone out calmly.”
Kagome nodded and jumped to the next landing and into the door. Inu Yasha took the one down from her and they started to evacuate the building. The stairwell was filled with people in minuets. No one said a word.
With in a half hour the building was evacuated and the police was called along with fire department, bomb-squad and ambulance. Inu Yasha and Kagome sent the workers home and stood around. There was nothing they could do, Inu Yasha gave one of the leaders on the bomb his cell number and they left the site.
Kagome held Shippo close as Inu Yasha held her close, the group reclining on the limo seat. No one said a word. There was nothing really to be said. The limo stopped outside of the mall and no one moved.
The door opened at their feet. And the driver looked in at them.
“Do you wish to go somewhere else?” He asked. Kagome took his Old English accent to fit his frame perfectly. She smiled and shook her head.
“No thank you.” She patted Inu Yasha’s hand. “Come on puppy, let’s go.”
Inu Yasha growled and tightened his grip. He was no puppy. Kagome laughed and looked back at him to smiled.
“You’re my puppy.” He growled again and let he go.
They walked around the first few stores buying little things for Shippo. By the end of the morning at lunch, Shippo had a new wardrobe and a few toys.
Inu Yasha sat down with Shippo as Kagome went to get food in the food court.
“Inu Yasha?”
“Ya?” Inu Yasha looked up. Shippo’s eyes were covered by his bangs but Inu yasha didn’t miss the tear that dropped.
“Do you think Kagome will want to be my mother?” The kitsune sniffed and wiped his eyes.
Inu Yasha sat up straight and looked around the area. Kagome was paying but stood waiting for the food.
“Ya I think she would. Is that what you wanted to talk about at breakfast?”
“Yes.”
Inu Yasha looked up to see Kagome weaving her way between tables. Shippo rushed forward and all but knocked the air from him as he sniffled in his shirt. Inu Yasha petted Shippo’s fur gently still watching Kagome.
“What’s wrong?” Kagome sat the tray down and looked at the two.
Inu Yasha nudged Shippo and the kit looked up at her. “Will you be my mommy?” He whimpered.
Kagome stepped back. She had never heard a fox whimper, but that was beside the point. She knelt down beside their chair and looked right at the kitsune.
“I would love too. However; I know you understand, but you need to realize at points I might just have to leave you.” Shippo nodded his head quickly and jumped to her. Kagome held Shippo to her chest and looked at Inu Yasha. He nodded and smiled. She closed her eyes and held onto her new son.
Shippo looked up at Kagome and pecked her cheek and scrambled out of her arms to the table. Kagome smiled and opened her eyes.
After lunch, the little group headed to yet another store.
Kagome held up a sun-dress and laughed. The dress was a lime green and had bright pink polka dots. Inu Yasha looked over and coughed.
“Anyways,” Kagome put the dress up without a second look. “Didn’t you say we needed something formal?” She walked with Inu Yasha out the store with Shippo on his shoulder.
“Ya, I get invited to fancy dinners and whatnot.” He snorted and led directed them to a suit and dress store.
Kagome looked around the dresses wanting to burn more than half. Inu Yasha had taken Shippo to get measured, leaving her to look at the ugly things. She moved a section to look at a black dress but moved on flipping through the plastic coverings.
“May I help you?” Someone asked her for the second time.
“No thanks just looking.” She pulled out a black dress and replaced it. The person left and Kagome continued looking. New footsteps came towards her.
“Hello beautiful.” A hand was placed on her shoulder and Kagome flipped them.
The man landed with a thud. Kagome leaned down. “Ya know Miroku. Your lucky I didn’t break your arm.” She smiled.
“Thanks Kagome.” He coughed holding his arm. Other store clients and attendants looked at them but went on. “Was that needed though?”
Kagome shrugged and pulled out another dress. She put it back and pulled out another. “That’s a nice choice madam.” Kagome groaned.
“No thank you. I don’t have a fireplace.” Kagome put the dress back and looked around for Inu Yasha. He was at the counter writing something down. Shippo sat on the counter next to him. She walked towards then with a stunned attendant behind her and a laughing Miroku.
“Are you ready? I don’t see anything.” Kagome looked over Inu Yasha’s shoulder.
“Ya hold on.” He signed his name and handed the paper back to the cashier. He turned and looked at Kagome. He took her hand and led her out the door. Shippo jumping to her shoulder.
Miroku ran to catch up with them as they left the store. “Inu Yasha, Kagome.” he called.
Inu Yasha stopped and waited for his friend. “What?”
“Sango wants to know if your going to the music awards at the end of the week. She sent me to get a hold of you since your phone is off.” Inu Yasha pulled out his cell phone and swore turning the thing on.
“I thought those were next month.” Inu Yasha replaced the phone in his jeans pocket.
“No, there this month at the end of the week. There’s a table reserved for you and they want you to announce an award.”
Inu Yasha looked over at Kagome. “Go ahead.”
“You going to come? Or is this one of your, you can go, it’s your job?”
Kagome scowled at him. “I’m already in freaking public more than I usually am. No way an I going somewhere televised. Let alone with thousands of other people around be, half being rich stars.” She shook her head no and started walking off.
