The large Inu group could feel the darkness in the air. The flashes of light on the roof were anything but soothing.

“Hold on Kags, we are on our way….”

Inu Yasha didn't fight his beast as it took over. Sesshomaru and Inu Tashio rushed after him needing to put forth much more effort to keep up. Sango and Miroku parked and ran inside. Koga lead his pack off to the side to cover neighboring buildings.

Inu Yasha cleared the building in four leaps, soaring over the edge.

Kagome stood facing two opponents, the younger girl having been killed moments ago after her mirror had shattered while trying to steal Kagome's soul. Letting a pulse of energy out she attacked Kagura. The wind witch, off balance from the pulse barely guarded herself from the on coming attack. Not letting the demon get back steadily on her feet, Kagome rushed and ducked swiping up and under the woman's defense cutting her cleanly in half. Kagura was surprised and the emotion was permanently etched in her face as the light in her eyes died. Turning Kagome faced the little boy who seemed unfazed.

“I won't be so easy.” He smiled before spinning his glaive and attacking.

“Good.” Kagome laughed and let him hit her, taking the defensive.

The three men stood on the ledge of the building no longer fearful of the Miko's safety. It was obvious to them she was toying with her pray and in no real danger. Inu Yasha calmed down enough to gain control. Sesshomaru and Inu Tashio watched with awe at the young woman as she parried and slashed with a elegant style that was smooth and flawless.

Minutes passed and Kagome knew the boy had figured out that she was playing with him. She knew her mate, his father, Sesshomaru, Sango and Miroku were all watching but ignored them for the moment. Finally she knocked back Hakudoshi and flipped to land next to her mate and Sesshomaru.

Dropping one of her bone blades she reached a hand out towards Inu Yasha silently asking for his own blade. He popped the lock and throwing the sword out of its sheath with a quick flick of his wrist. It flew into Kagome's awaiting hand. Taking a step forward Kagome twisted her wrist getting accustomed to the new weight of the ancient katana. Using her other hand to unlock to other weapons that clung to her body, dropping with an audible thunk. Stretching Kagome loosed her shoulders and back before charging the grinning boy. Completely off guard that the woman's speed and strength Hakudoshi did all he could to stay alive, which was mostly running backwards, and flipping out of reach. He began to feel fear in the pit of his stomach and each slash added to it.

“Scared?” Kagome toyed.

“No.” He defended to quickly.

Jumping towards the boy Kagome dropped her last bone sword and reached out with the empty hand. A sword landing firmly in her hand she flipped and slashed keeping her opponent on his toes.

The Inu group was surprised when Inu Tashio's sword flew from his belt toward Kagome. All three Inu's were on their feet ready to jump in if her condition nose-dived.

Kagome could feel the sword's pulse in her hand. The black vines launching themselves under her skin and into her veins and arteries. Swinging she cut the glaive in half. Hakudoshi threw the useless weapon to the side taking his attention off kagome of a split second.

Seeing to opening Kagome rushed forward. Crossing the swords at the blades to form an `X', she pulled. Hakudoshi stared at the girl in disbelief. Blood collected then began dripping from the hairline cut that marked Kagome's cut. The boy's head rolled off the neck and his body fell to the ground.

Turning Kagome returned to her friends and with some effort released Inu Tashio's sword and handed it back to him. At his touch the vines disappeared. She bowed low to him then turned to her mate.

Inu Yasha wasn't expecting her to launch into his arms like she did but held her non-the-less taking her scent in with a deep breath.

“Come on.” Still holding his sword she kicked up the two she had dropped. Miroku and Sango retrieved her other weapons and handed them over. Kagome accepted quickly fitting them before taking off. Jumping down the hole she had made, Kagome rushed the office door. Feeling the barrier she skid to a halt.

“Well Crap.” Handing Inu Yasha back his sword, Kagome pulled one of her own. Backing up she charged the blade with her powers and ran forward hitting the barrier with the point of her sword. It shattered let lose a think cloud of miasma.

“Miroku, Sango get to the roof!” Kagome screamed running forward and slamming into the door. It cracked against her weight opening itself to reveal a simple office. Running towards the desk Kagome jumped it. Kneeling she felt under the desktop finding a file folder under. Ripping it from the tape that held it there. She tossed it to Inu Yasha who was barely in the door. Seeing the trap right above him Kagome screamed and found herself slamming into her mate. The swoosh of the iron bars behind them was the only warning before they crashed into the floor. Inu Yasha climbed out from under his mate.

“I thought I was suppose to protect you?” He teased.

“You still can, I'm stuck.” Kagome admitted to embarrassed to look at how she was stuck.

Inu Yasha looked up from her flushed face and towards her foot, which he expected to be between the bars. Horror filled his eyes at the sight instead. Kagome feeling his emotions looked back and almost screamed, she instead let loose a string of curses. Her legs having been punctured by a single bar.

“You've got to be kidding.” She finished.

“What do we do?” Sesshomaru asked slightly worried for his sister-in-law that he had to admit he liked.

“Cut the bar, expect it to continue down so move my leg to the left or right once you cut it I really don't want two holes, one is enough. Cut the bottom first then the top. I suggest, Inu Yasha, you use one of my swords, I'll charge it with energy, it should cut sharper and smoother. Inu Tashio and Sesshomaru can you lift me up enough so he can cut under me without tearing at the…. gash further?”

Sesshomaru looked at his father. “I'll handle this son.” The elder said.

“So be it.” Sesshomaru pulled back a bit and watched as his sister-in-law charged a bone blade and handed it to Inu Yasha. His father concentrated beside him and after second he watched as the miko was raised up into the air.

InuYasha cut the bar above his mate's calf while his father moved her so he could but under her.

Kagome clung to Inu Tashio and the final cut was made. Jerking her leg to the right, as predicted the bar crashed down. Yanking her leg and the piece of bar out from between the bars, Kagome braced herself.

“We got the file, right?”
”Kagome.” All three men growled.

Miles away, a single man snarled into the swirling pot of demon parts and acid.

“Lord Naraku, what shall we do? They have retrieved the file of the Shikon jewel.”

“I am aware of this Bankotsu. We will regroup now and research this new development. There may be something we can use against this woman to turn her on to our side or to kill her altogether.

“Yes Lord Naraku.”
