The sun started rising in the sky with everyone still asleep. Inuyasha's ears started to twitch and he awoke to Kagome's panting. He looked at her and she was wet with sweat. He felt her forehead and it was burning up. Inuyasha lifted Kagome off of him and set her gently on the ground. He looked through Kagome's bag, as he always does and found the aid kit and began to rummage through it.

Miroku and Sango woke up because of the noise Inuyasha was making. "Inuyasha, what are you doing?" Asked a very sleepy Miroku. "I think that Kagome is sick. Her forehead is really hot and she's sweating badly." Miroku came to Kagome and felt her forehead for himself.

"Yes, it appears that she does have a fever." Said Miroku thinking what they should do about it. "Wow, you stated the obvious." Growled an impatient Inuyasha. "Now lets not be too hasty you guys, we have to do something about bringing Kagome's fever down and then bring her back to her own time to rest properly." Said Sango in a reasonable tone.

"My butt she's going to go home, she needs to stay here and help us identify more shards of the jewel." Growled Inuyasha in a pissed off tone of voice.

"Sit" came a whisper from Kagome that no one could hear except Inuyasha. The next thing everyone noticed was Inuyasha slamming head first into the ground.

"Oh, that's what she said." Chuckled Sango. "Feh." Was all Inuyasha said after the incantation wore off. "Found it." Said Inuyasha after he located a cloth and ran to the river to drench it in cold water to see if it would help bring Kagome's fever down some. Inuyasha came back and put the wet cold cloth on top of her forehead.

Kagome's eyes slowly opened and looked right up at Inuyasha. "Hey." Was all she said. "Kagome, you're burning up with a fever." Said Sango, kneeling down next to her. "No wonder I feel like crap." Said Kagome with a weak smile. "Do you want to go back to your own time to get some rest?" Asked Miroku with sympathy in his voice. "Yea, I think I should go back home to get better." Said Kagome. Ahh, ahh, ahh choo. Sneezed Kagome.

"Come on, let's get you home." Said Inuyasha in a gentle voice and got Kagome's things together. When everyone got their stuff ready they were off to the Bone Eaters Well. When they got there everyone said their goodbyes for the time being.

"I hope you feel better." Said Sango hugging Kagome. "We are looking forward to seeing you when you are well." Said Miroku and touched Kagome's butt when he hugged her. Luckily Sango saw and slapped him for Kagome. "Thanks." Said Kagome with her eyebrow twitching a bit.

"Can't I go with you, Kagome?" Said a tear stricken Shippou. "I'm afraid not, because I might get you sick if you hang around me all the time." Said Kagome giving Shippou a hug. "Besides you were the one that got Kagome like this and if you came you would bug the shit out of all of us." Snarled Inuyasha.

"Bonk." Miroku hit Inuyasha on the head with his staff. "Ouch, what was that for?" Growled a now pissed off Inuyasha. "That was for being yourself." Said Miroku not looking directly at Inuyasha who was giving him a death glare.

"Besides, you should get Kagome home now." Continued Miroku. "Feh." Was all that he had left to say and he jumped into the well. He jumped right out when the bluish purple haze ceased bringing them out into Kagome's time period. He carried her towards her house past the old tree when they encountered Kagome's grandfather.

"What have you done with my granddaughter?!?!" Yelled a very angry old man. "Nothing, gramps. She got sick and has a fever so I brought her home to get better." Inuyasha growled back at the old man. "Fine. Don't try anything funny or else I'll ward you to stay away from Kagome." Said Gramps. "What makes you think that those wards will work on me? They haven't worked before and they won't work now." Inuyasha said with a glare in his eyes.

"What's going on here?" Said Mrs. Higurashi and stopped as soon she saw her daughter sleeping against Inuyasha's back. "Kagome has a fever so I brought her back here to get better." Said Inuyasha as he stepped towards Kagome's mom.

"Bring her to her room, I'll be up there in a moment to see what we can do." Said Mrs. Higurashi as she went to retrieve something from inside her house. Inuyasha new all too well where Kagome's room was so he didn't have a problem finding it.

He came to her room and set her onto her bed and he sat on the floor with his arms across his chest. Mrs. Higurashi came in and Kagome opened her eyes to she her mom and Inuyasha on the floor. "How are you feeling?" Asked her mom as she helped change Kagome out of her sweaty clothes while Inuyasha waited outside.

When Mrs. Higurashi came out side she said that she gave Kagome some medication to lower her fever and that he could stay with her as long as he wanted. Inuyasha stepped into the room to find Kagome sitting up and watching TV.

"So, are you feeling any better?" Asked Inuyasha not looking directly at her and sat on her bed next to her. "Yes, I am actually. Thank you for asking." She said blushing a little.

They stayed watching TV in silence. Kagome wasn't watching TV though; she just stared at Inuyasha, deep in thought. Inuyasha felt her eyes on him and turned around. "What?" He growled at her. Kagome looked down. "Why did you hold me last night?" She asked shyly. Inuyasha was covered in a light blush. "Uh, I thought that you might have been cold because you were shivering." He said looking away from her. "Oh, thank you." Replied Kagome with a smile at him.

Later Mrs. Higurashi brought them dinner and came back to take the dishes when they were done. She smiled as she saw her daughter sleeping and looked over where Inuyasha dozed off on the floor. She got a blanket and covered Inuyasha with it and turned off the lights and closed the door after she kissed Kagome on her forehead.
