Chapter Ten: Inuyasha's Jealous?
That day at lunch instead of sitting under the weeping willow like they usually did Kagome and Sango held court at one of the picnic tables. They were talking and laughing with the people who had gathered to sit with them when a hush fell over everyone. Kagome looked up to see Kanna and Kagura standing near by with their lunches. “Can we help you?” She asked.
“We were wondering if you would allow us to sit with you Higurashi.” Said Kanna. Kagome looked at Sango then turned back to the two girls.
“Sure you can.” She said. “We'll make some room. Scoot down Miroku.” Miroku scooted to the end of the bench. Sango, Kagome, and Inuyasha moved over too but they only managed to make room for one more person.
“There's obviously not enough room for the both of us.” Kagura started to walk away.
“Wait.” Inuyasha pulled Kagome into his lap then slid over into her spot. “There you go. Room for two.”
“I thank you.” Said Kanna sitting down. She'd always been a rather formal girl. Kagura sat down also and everyone resumed their conversations.
“So Sango are your parents still of town?” Kagome asked.
“I wish I wanted to have another party. But they come back tomorrow.” Sango answered absently slapping Miroku's hand away from her butt.
“Well I was thinking we haven't had a block party in a while. If I can get permission from the people on my block and my parents we could have one.” Said Kagome.
“That would be sooo cool.” Agreed Sango.
“Yeah. And I pretty much know I can permission considering all the times I've babysat for free and gave out cookies and helped out just about everyone in my neighbor hood. So you get a whole bunch of your party mixes together and maybe tomorrow we can go shopping and get lights and stuff to hang up in the trees and stuff.”
“I can get you a good sound system.” Inuyasha said.
“That'd be great Inu,” Kagome turned and gave him a quick kiss. “And Miroku what can you contribute?”
“My uncle a shop that sells just about everything that has to do with food. I bet I can get some good food for free. But we'll have to do some free advertising.” Miroku said.
“Cool, what to do about drinks though?” mused Kagome.
“If you like, Higurashi Kanna and I can get refreshments.” Said Kagura stiffly.
“That'd be great Kagura. And you can call me Kagome you know. Everyone else does.” She smiled. “Okay, I still have to get permission, but I'm pretty sure I will. So we'll have set this party for Friday. Spread the word you guys,” Kagome told the tables occupants. “Because everyone's invited to this party.”
“Even Kikyou?” asked Inuyasha nibbling on Kagome's neck.
“Well it's sort of hard to keep her from coming. It's a block party and she lives across the street from me.” Kagome answered. “I can't think when you do that, stop it.”
“You think to much.” Inuyasha told her. “You want to come to my house after school? We can do our homework together, maybe watch a movie.”
“Sure. You'll ride me on your motorcycle?”
“Of course.”
“Do you have a helmet for me?”
“Nope.”
“You're going to be the death of me Inuyasha.” Kagome said laughing. The end of lunch bell rang. “I'll meet you at your motorcycle after school.” She gave him a kiss then walked off with a group of girls to her next class. Inuyasha watched her go with a dopey look on his face.
“You are so gone off her.” Miroku said.
“I know.”
“What are you going to do when the three weeks are up if she doesn't want to stay with you?”
“She'll stay.” Inuyasha said. “I won't give her any reason not to. Lets go to class.”
Later on after school, Kagome reached Inuyasha's motorcycle before he did. So she walked around it slowly inspecting it. `I wonder if Inuyasha might let me drive it one day.' She thought.
“Hello beautiful.” Kagome looked up expecting to see Inuyasha but instead it was Kouga. “You live around here don't you?” he asked.
“Yeah I do,” answered Kagome smiling.
“How about I walk you home. We can get to know each other better.”
“Thanks Kouga but maybe some other time. I'm going to Inuyasha's house. To study and stuff.”
“You'd have so much more fun with me, Kagome darling.”
“She said no wolf, so back off.” Inuyasha had walked up unnoticed.
“This is a private conversation mutt. Go away, she'd have more fun with me anyway.”
“Like she really wants to be pawed by you. Ready to go Kagome?” Inuyasha got onto his motorcycle.
“Yep, catch you later Kouga.” Kagome climbed on behind him.
“I'll see you tomorrow, beautiful.” Kouga said before walking away. Inuyasha started the motorcycle and sped off. Kagome snuggled into Inuyasha's back as they rode, reveling in the heady feeling and the wind rushing by. He was tense.
“You really shouldn't encourage him like that Kagome.” Inuyasha said when they finally reached his house. Kagome was running her fingers through her hair straightening it out.
“Who encouraged him? If I ever considered him anything Inuyasha it would be a friend. Calm down.”
“Just by being nice to him is encouraging him. He'll get confident and try and take you from me.”
“Inuyasha, I'm not going anywhere. I'm with you okay?” She put a hand on his arm.
He shook her off. “Yeah, your with me. For three weeks and then you go running off with him.”
“Inuyasha,”
“Lets just drop it.” Inuyasha walked away and into his house with Kagome following quietly behind. She followed him into the kitchen then sat down at the round wooden table where he dropped his stuff. “Do you want a soda?” he asked curtly. Kagome nodded. While Inuyasha grabbed two cans of soda and a family size bag of Doritos Kagome pulled out her school stuff and silently began to work on her homework. Inuyasha did the same after bringing the stuff to the table. They said nothing and had no contact until they brushed hands reaching for chips. “Sorry,” muttered Inuyasha.
Kagome stood up and began to gather her school things. “I'm leaving,” she said when Inuyasha looked at her quizzically. “I'll do my homework at home where my radio won't give me the silent treatment. This isn't going to work if you bring up our deal every time you get jealous because you see a guy hitting on me. It's going to happen, so you'll just have to deal with it. Or maybe we should just call this whole thing off.” She swung her backpack up onto her shoulder and walked away.
“Kagome wait!” Inuyasha ran after her and grabbed her arm. “Stay please? We didn't watch our movie yet.”
“Some other time. I'm not in the mood to watch a movie. I'll see you tomorrow.”
“Kagome,” Inuyasha wasn't sure what to say. “Let me take you to school tomorrow.”
“No, I'm wearing a skirt tomorrow. I don't want to ride with a skirt on.”
“Please don't be mad Kagome.”
“I'm not mad,” Kagome sighed. “Look, I just need to go home and think. Meet at the door tomorrow.” She pulled her arm free and left. Inuyasha grabbed the chips from the kitchen then flopped down on the couch next to Shippou.
“You really blew that.” Said Shippou helping himself to the chips.
“Shut up.”
A/N: Well that's it for now; I'll probably be updating this fic on Monday's or Tuesday's. Not sure. I might not even do it in any order. Catch you guys later.
