Chapter 7 Secret Life
"Inuyasha! Kagome! Diner is ready!" Rin called happily. Inuyasha stood up and offered his hand to help her up and she took it.
"Hope you're hungry." Inuyasha teased. Kagome giggled.
"Yup! I'm starved!" She said teasing back. They walked downstairs together. Hand in hand.
Rin was sitting next to Sesshomaru at the dining room table. Plates of food placed in front of them as well as two other chairs. Sesshomaru didn't look excited but Rin gave plenty of excitement for the both of them.
Inuyasha pulled a chair out for Kagome and she grinned at him as she sat down. He followed, sitting in the chair beside her.
Rin smiled at the two then back to her mate. Rin had prepared a lovely, hardy, home cooked meal for all of them and didn't break a sweat. Kagome was envious of her ability to make their house homey with easy. Everyone began eating their delicious meals.
"So Kagome how long have you lived in this area?" Rin asked. Kagome looked up from her food to reply.
"I've lived around here as long as I can remember." She said, taking another bite of food.
"Wow, so are you going to college?" Rin continued with questions. Kagome nodded between her bites.
"Yeah, I'm a sophomore now." She replied again. Inuyasha didn't want Kagome to feel uncomfortable from all Rin's curiosity so he decided to intervene.
"Hey Rin. Why don't you tell Kagome the story about how you and Sesshomaru met." He said, giving Sesshomaru a glance. He glared back. Kagome could see the excitement glowing on Rin's face.
"Oh you want to hear that story?! I would be happy to tell it to you!" Rin exclaimed excitedly. "Let me see. I was around your age. Sesshomaru stopped some of the evil demons, that I'm sure Inuyasha told you about," Kagome nodded and Rin continued, "from attacking me. There was a big pack of wolf demons ravaging the area and they found me. I swear I thought I was a goner. But when they were closing in on me, I saw a flash of silver push them back. It was my Sesshy!" Rin said leaning over and hugging his arm. Sesshomaru's face never showed any expression.
"So then what happened?" Kagome asked.
"Well, when the wolves saw Sesshomaru, they ran off with their tails between their legs. Sesshomaru turned back to me and asked if I was alright and I nodded. I was to scared to say anything." She said, then turned to Sesshomaru with a twinkle in her eye. "When he was about to walk away, I tried to stand up, but I fell. Sesshomaru was back by my side in a moment. He picked me up bridal style and it was at that moment that I knew I loved him."
Kagome was awed by their story. 'But wait, did she say that the evil demons just came at her in the open?' She thought. She looked like she was only in her late twenties, maybe early thirties. 'How long ago was this?'
"Well, he took me back to his home. And checked my injury. He wasn't very open as he cared for me at first, but slowly he started letting me in. Kind of like Inuyasha was with you Kagome." Rin stated with a grin. Kagome blushed but smiled.
Inuyasha noticed that Sesshomaru continuously stared at Kagome. Every movement she made, he watched it like she was an enemy. He looked back to Kagome who was now carelessly chattering and giggling with Rin about school and her friends Sango and Miroku and their comical relationship. He was glad that she was finally relaxed.
The girls continued their giggles and chatter and Inuyasha watched as his brother analyzed Kagome until everyone finished their meal.
Kagome stretched out her arms above her head before placing her hands on her stomach. "Thanks for the wonderful meal! It was delicious!" She praised. Rin only smiled. Without having to say anything, Kagome knew she was happy to cook for them.
"Well, it's probably time to get you home." Inuyasha said wrapping a arm around Kagome's waist in affection. She blushed. Rin stood as they did.
"Be safe heading home! It was a pleasure to meet you Kagome!" She said hugging Kagome before they headed out the door. Inuyasha helped Kagome into the car.
He opened his side door when, "Inuyasha." He looked up at his brother in the doorway beside Rin. His arm placed around her like Inuyasha had done to Kagome not too long ago. "I'll take over your shift tonight." He said. Inuyasha grinned and nodded before getting in the car and driving off.
"What did he mean by that?" Kagome asked curiously. Inuyasha smiled at her.
"If you want me to, I was given permission to spend the night with you." He told her. Kagome lit up. She missed the feeling of having someone to cuddle in the middle of the night. But this thought brought back Koga. Her mood dropped and Inuyasha noticed.
"What's the matter?" He asked in concern. She snapped out of her gloom and smiled.
"Everything's fine! Nothing is wrong! Thanks for asking though." She assured him. He brushed it off for now.
The ride home was quiet. Not too eventful. Inuyasha pulled the car into the driveway and replaced his ball cap on his head. He was out first, then opened Kagome's door for her. She thanked him with a smile.
Kagome lead him to the door. She went to grab the door knob but the door flew open. Sango and Miroku laughing and giggling almost ran right into Kagome and Inuyasha.
"Oh! Kagome! I'm sorry! I didn't know when you would be back." Sango apologized. Kagome shook her head.
"No, no! It's alright. Inuyasha was going to stay a while anyways." She said giving a wink to Sango to give her the hint. Sango got the hidden message.
"Oooohhhh, okay! Miroku and I were going out for a night on the town! We won't rush then! You two have fun!" Sango said giving her friend the super excited grin and silent squeal preteens tended to use. The two of them basically pranced to Miroku's car parked on the street and sped off.
Kagome waved to them as their car headed towards downtown. Inuyasha stood behind her petite figure and wrapped his arms gently around her, pulling her inside and shut the door behind her. She giggled at his playfulness.
The two of them stared into the other's eyes in a mesmerizing swirl of energy from their auras. Kagome elevated onto her tip toes and kissed his lips. The kiss they shared was passionate and heated. The energy in the room became more intense. Inuyasha picked her up and carried her to the couch.
He laid her down gently, never breaking their kiss. She could feel her heart pounding like it was trying to burst through her chest. She broke their kiss and they panted lightly from their lack of oxygen. He touched her cheek with his finger tips. A tingle ran down her spine. She grabbed his forelocks and pulled him back into her kisses. He didn't fight her.
Kagome felt her heart fluttering like the butterflies in her stomach. Inuyasha felt his whole body go into ecstasy. Both of them were blissful in the other's presence. Each touch left tingles on their skin where they traced. Their auras blending together so they were no longer distinguishable apart. They were one.
A knock on the door made Kagome jump. Inuyasha bared his teeth towards the door, releasing a growl to protect Kagome. She gently pushed him off of her to go and see who was there.
Inuyasha had a bad feeling about the intruder at the door and felt ashamed he hadn't sensed their presence sooner. He followed close behind Kagome to defend her from who ever might be there.
Kagome turned the doorknob and pulled the door open.
"Koga." Kagome said surprised. His face looked sad, like a puppy apologizing for getting in the trash.
In only a moment, Inuyasha had gotten in front of her, slightly pushing her back, and began growling at the man in the doorway. Kagome was shocked to see Koga in a matching crouched position as Inuyasha, growling back in defense.
"Wha-what's going on?!" Kagome exclaimed.
"Run Kagome." Inuyasha told her between growls. "You better get out of here before I have to make you, stinking wolf." He snarled. Kagome was so confused, she froze where her feet were.
"What the hell are you doing here with my woman, stupid mute?!" Koga snarled back. Inuyasha raised slightly in rage.
"Your woman?! What the hell are you talking about?" Inuyasha angrily asked.
Kagome decided it was time to step in. She quickly stepped forward and forced Inuyasha to stand up straight by getting under his arm and standing herself. She clung to his shirt as she stared at a very primal Koga she had never imagined existed.
Inuyasha saw seeing both of them growling like animals bothered her so he willingly stopped his actions. He put his nose in her hair to calm his nerves, but never took his eyes off the intruder.
Koga stood straight but still showed his anger. "What are you doing Kagome?! You are mine! Get away from that mute right now!" He yelled. She cringed at his loud commands.
Inuyasha growled in warning. The vibration of his chest reassured Kagome that he had her back.
"He is not a mute! And stop calling me yours! I don't belong to you! And as I do recall, you kicked me out!" She yelled in defense. Koga stopped his growling and his face showed shock.
"Do-do you mean that? Kagome?" Koga asked horrified.
This kind hearted Koga is the one Kagome once loved. But she couldn't love him any longer. His uncontrollable anger caused him to push her away completely. But if it weren't for him doing so, she would have never found Inuyasha. Her soul mate.
"Yes Koga. I meant it when you called me. You need to leave me alone." She told him with a 'sorry' look. Inuyasha's ear twitched and his eyes widened in furry.
"You. You're the one that hurt her!" He yelled, his growls slowly becoming audible.
"Inuyasha." Kagome whispered softly. She clutched his shirt tighter.
"You mangy wolf. Only weak bastards would throw a woman into a wall!" Inuyasha spat. Koga was now extremely defensive. Kagome could feel Inuyasha's aura pulsing around them. His fury taking over the little control he still contained.
Inuyasha's charm's chain snapped. The charm's power wasn't able to mask his own. His aura now reaching maximum strength. Swirling his ball cap clear off his head. Also blowing Kagome's hair back. Her eyes widened in shock.
Koga was equally shocked, but never backed down. He removed his left ear ring, allowing his aura and features to be revealed as well. Kagome gasped as she watched a man she thought she knew transform before her eyes.
Koga's eyes extended to a point and his teeth grew into fangs, much like Inuyasha's. His nails lengthened into claws and a furry, brown tail appeared out of thin air.
Kagome couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. Inuyasha now gently pushed Kagome behind him. It was now to dangerous for her and Inuyasha didn't want to risk her getting hurt.
Kagome's mind started to register the growls and snarls coming from the two men in front of her. Their auras fighting for dominance over the others. Inuyasha inching forward while Koga reluctantly stepped back. Kagome was frozen where she was left.
After a few more moments of the struggle for dominance, the snarls became more intense. Kagome watched in horror as Koga took the first lung. Inuyasha dodged while sending an attack his way in exchange. Koga took the blow to get the chance of planting a punch on Inuyasha.
She watched them exchange kicks and punches. Snarls and bites. They looked like two wild dogs in a street fight. They were both fighting over her. So she decided she had to put and end to it.
Kagome launched herself towards the brawl with all the strength she had left. Sprinting to stop the meaningless fighting. Her hot tears flying from either side of her face. Though she couldn't drown out the piercing sounds of their snarls, being unable to know what would happen as a result of this fight was the source of her fears. Not the two animalistic men fighting on the front lawn.
Her sights on her love, Inuyasha, she aimed to grab hold of him. To calm him. To comfort him. To let him know she was there for him. No one else. She felt so far away from him now that her heart called for him. Urned for his gently touch. As she closed the distance between them, she reached out her arm. Fingers stretched. Wanting so badly to feel him.
"Inuyasha!" She yelled, now on the two. His breath caught in his throat as he was distracted by her calling his name, allowing a slight opening for a direct land of a knee to his gut. He grunted as he hit his knees. Kagome collapsed in front of him wrapping her arms around his shoulders. Sobbing into his shirt. His breathing was heavy but he felt better, comforted by her presence.
Koga scowled in disgust. Cocky from his successfully temporarily disabling his opponent, he strutted over to the couple in the grass.
"Well, look at this. It's all your fault he get that hit in the first place and now you're trying to make him feel better?!" He spat. Kagome turned her head to face him. Tears still flowing freely down her face. Koga bent down, mere inches from her nose. "What do you think your gonna be able to do you stupid bitch?! Nothing! You are completely useless to anyone! You're only good for giving me some good healthy pups!" He said, grabbing her face and picnicking her cheeks between his thumb and index finger. She thought her eyes must have shown her complete fear for her safety. "Now that you finally understand, I'm not through with him yet! Get your pretty little ass out of the way!" Koga through her face to the ground from the grip he had her in. She cried out in pain.
Inuyasha immediately was in Koga's face with is hand wrapped harshly around his neck. Koga was in shock, gasping for air as Inuyasha's grip grew tighter. The intensity and anger in Inuyasha's eyes sent chills and fear spilling down Koga's spine.
"She is NOT yours. And you will never lay another finger on her EVER again. Do I make myself clear?" He asked rhetorically. Koga nodded, fearful for his well being. Inuyasha forcefully released him, shoving him away. "I don't want to see you or your kind around here. You endangering human's is against code and I have a right mind to report you to council." Inuyasha threatened. Koga cringed at the thought of the councilmen passing judgement on his pack. "Get out of here you stinking wolf!" Inuyasha exclaimed, faking a lung in his direction giving Koga the hint to run. He did.
Inuyasha rushed to Kagome who was crying into the grass. He picked her up off the ground and carried her into the house. Her clung to him as if for her life. When he tried to lay her on the couch to go get some wet cloths to clean her up, she refused to release her grip on him.
"Please don't go." She whimpered through her tears. He couldn't hold back a grin as he rested his forehead to hers.
"I wouldn't dream of going anywhere without you." He whispered comfortingly.
