Chapter Two: Her Birth

 

 

 

 

 

The Last two months of the pregnancy went fast for Kagome. She was Happy with it, and was Eating Lunch with Sango, Kane and Akina. They had become close friends, and gossiped daily. Akina Gigged, laughing at Kagome's joke about Inuyasha. Her almond shaped Chocolate eyes shined with happiness, as she moved her brownish black hair behind her ear. She was full of life, with an attitude. She always kept Kouga on his toes, making him leave Kagome alone. She was very `curvy' always having Kouga staring at something he wasn't supposed to. You could only imagine what she'd do.

 

“Kagome, does he really do that?”

 

Kane asked. Her piercing blue eyes seemed to see into everyone's soul. Purple stripes were on her cheeks, but no sign on her forehead. She was from a distant country visiting Akina, her childhood friend. She was a Dog demon, and a defensive one at that. She and Seshomaru were always arguing, seeing as how she refused to submit to Seshomaru. That really made him mad. Sango had lost count of how many times she gave Seshomaru `You're a boy, I'm a woman' speech. Now she was Sesshomaru's…..half way.

 

“Yeah!”

 

Kagome giggled. “He purred when I did it….those ears are so cute…”

Kane laughed lightly. “Good, so it's genetic. Sesshomaru's soft spot is his ears.” Sango gasped, “Really Kane?” Kane looked at Sango. She really didn't get along with humans, but tolerated Kagome and Sango, to a point. Kagome let out a moan of sudden pain. “Kane…..” Kane could smell it; the pup was to some soon. Kane nodded, getting up. Her purple kimono rustled, as she helped Kagome rise.

 

“Come, let hurry back to the village…”

 

 

Inuyasha was busy making the last arrangements of His, Kagome and the pup's new home. Miroku and Sesshomaru helped, But Sesshomaru was threatened by Kane if He wouldn't. Something about family, Seshomaru really didn't listen; He just knew he had to have Kane every night.

 

 

Inuyasha's ears twitched as her heard more and more groaning from his mate. In Instinct, He went to the sound. He was literally in shock at the sight of Akina over Kagome—he didn't really trust her or Kouga for the most part, seeing as how they felt the child should die. He walked over, Miroku behind him.

 

“Kagome…?”

 

“Don't just look, help us, idiot!” Akina snarled, glaring. Inuyasha grunted, but slowly helped Kagome up. She was in full fledge tears now, the pain was too bad.

 

 

“Where is Kane?”

 

A calm, smooth voice said. The usual baritone was gone; Sesshomaru could feel the miko's aura fading. “Some where,” Sango answered, walking with everyone as Inuyasha carried Kagome into the hut where the births usually were.

 

 

Kagome let out a wail and Inuyasha growled. He could barely contain his inner demon, seeing his mate in pain. Her aura fluxed, expanding, then receding. The child was slowly killing her. Sesshomaru had left moments ago, going after Kane. `What could that woman be doing?' He thought. Kane was at the palace, bringing a midwife and nurse to help with the birth of the child. Quickly, she was moving, almost as fast as Sesshomaru.

 

 

 

Kane ran into Sesshomaru. “Kane,” Sesshomaru growled, “This is not our place. Send the servants and let's leave. We've done enough charitable work for the poor already.” Kane growled back. “The poor? Sesshomaru, you forget, the poor is what make you rich!” Kane snarled, showing her fangs, “Besides, they are family!” Sesshomaru looked at her, with the emotionless eyes. “The pup is not of my kin. I won't accept it.”

 

Kane nearly cried. Sending the servants ahead, and shook her head. “The child is not a it! If we are not its kin, she will never have any!” Sesshomaru sped up to her, in front of her in a blink of an eye. “Your softness for others is what will be your death,” He grabbed her neck, and looked her right in the eye. “ But go to it. But I will not allow it any where near me.” Dropping her, Sesshomaru left. Kane grabbed her throat, gasping for air. She was starting to hate him.

 

“Asshole”

 

 

 

 

Everyone paced out side as Kaede, Sango, the nurse and mid wife was inside with Kagome. The once peaceful summer sky was turning stormy, and was beginning to rain. Inuyasha paced in front of the door, raking his fingers through his silver tresses, nervously.

 

“Whats taking so long?” Inuyasha growled impatiently. Kane, nearly in tears, sat next to a nervous Akina. Things weren't right, so unsettled………

 

“Akina!”

 

Kouga's voice boomed. It was beginning to rain now, and Kouga came up to his mate. His blue eyes were filled with worry. “Don't you feel that?” Akina nodded. That energy was so strong….

 

“Oh Kami Some body Help me!”

 

Kagome screamed as she pushed the baby out. She was so tired……

 

”Miss, don't stop, the baby is almost out,”

 

The baby's head came out, but sucked right back into Kagome as She screamed. “Its hurts! Inuyasha!”

 

Inuyasha burst though, through everyone's displeasure. The rain was pouring now. Akina and Kouga were making rounds to make sure no other demons came. Akina did the same. It was surprising how many demons were trying to come. Little Shippo sat with Kilala in back of the hut, protecting it. Miroku was busy trying to make a burrier to keep the other three demons in, and others out.

 

 

Miroku was successful, a light blue barrier coming up. Kane was suddenly blasted to the dirt path in the middle of the path, with Kouga and Akina soon coming. “Kami…” Akina sometimes wanted to retract her kind hearted actions….

 

“AHHH!”

“Miss, Just one last push!”

 

Inuyasha nearly fainted from what he saw. A small child came out, very small. She didn't wail, or cry, she was just quiet. Soon every one was surrounding the hut to see the cursed child. Was he dead?

 

“It's a girl…….”

 

The nurse looked worriedly at the child. She was abnormal. Looking down at her, Kagome demanded to see her. “Whats wrong with her?! Why isn't she crying?” Kagome took the child and held her. Inuyasha smiled as he heard a small heart beat, soft and steady.

 

“Maybe she's asleep...”

 

 

Suddenly, small, onyx eyes opened, and looked at her, and Inuyasha. She yawned, and snuggled. Kagome, Sango and Kaede let out a sigh of relive. “She's alive?” Akina sighed. She went near the door to see the small bundle. The little girl looked around at all the faces. She giggled, and smiled. “What a peaceful child she is…” Kaede said.

Kane rushed to the door. “Let me see my baby Niece!” Thunder crashed as a soaked Demoness walked into the hut. “What should we call her?” Sango whispered. The child was busy sucking on Kagome's breast to pay any attention, as if she cared any way.

 

“Hana….”

 

Inuyasha said, looking at her. For a brief moment, the baby looked at Inuyasha, as if it were already her name. She starred till she decided that he wanted nothing, and gave a soft gurgle, before suckling again.

 

“I guess it is decided then,” Miroku said bringing a asleep Shippo and Kiara in, “Hana. Good choice of names, Inuyasha.”

 

Once again Hana looked around at the mention of the name. Looking at Inuyasha, she gave a gummy smile. In her eyes, it was as if were a fire there.

 

“Gurg-unn”

 

Hana said, reaching for Inuyasha.

 

Kouga laughed, patting Inuyasha on the back. “Proud of you, Mutt-face.” Inuyasha smiled, and blushed. Then, with the last of his manly-ness gone, He fainted. Kagome gave a weary, but happy smile.

 

 

“ Yes,” She said, kssing her, “Hana Higurashi.”
