Circumstances
Chap. 4
He slammed the door signaling to his parents he was home. His foot steps pounded up the stairs, and he flew under his covers, turning on his radio. The music flowed into him and out into the room. Suddenly he felt relief. What was he going to about his Dark Sprite? One month was too short suddenly.
He looked up at his ceiling, wicked shadows forming from the sun setting. He saw her face floating there. His artist, her eyes black around the brilliant blue that peered out at him, letting her true self be seen. Such brilliant eyes. He marveled in how they were forever embedded in his brain though he had only truly looked at them once.
He fell silently into a sleep, her eyes wonderfully floating in front of him forever. A knock woke him as soon as he fell asleep. “Yes?” He answered his voice husky. He cleared his throat.
“Dinner.” His older brother said. “And we have a party tonight.”
Inu nodded standing and stretching as his brother shut the door again murmuring something. He didn't catch it but he didn't care. The party. Gods, the party. It would be most of the high school there, perhaps most of the college as well. He inhaled softly, but exhaled with exasperation. “Damn it.” He whispered.
He pulled on socks and pattered down the stairs to dinner leaving his radio going low in the corner of his room. He would come up later and turn it off. If he remembered.
The table was set up as it always was, his mother and brother already sitting at their places. He sat slumped in his chair as he usually was. “I don't understand why this party is so important to you Sesshoumaru. You hardly care whether you are breathing than to go to a ridiculous party.”
“Shut up brother before I strangle the life out of you.” The eldest brother countered. Inu rolled his eyes as his plate was set before him. He sniffed once and then stood walking from the room. Nothing on his plate had been appetizing enough to stay in that room with his obnoxious brother.
He got ready for the party since it seemed he had no appetite, and could do nothing but think of his Dark Sprite artist. Would she be there tonight? Dressed in black as she so often was. He had known her in elementary.
She always had thoughts much deeper than others. Sometimes it even scared the teachers when she answered simple questions with another thought out and completely opposite question canceling out the other.
It was said she was sent to the mental institution for care when her parents couldn't handle her questions any more and the teachers could no longer answer her elaborate questions that were not meant for someone of her age to be asking, such as the circumstances of a relationship and or contact with someone of the opposite sex. That came up often when the physical ed teacher separated the groups by putting all the girls on one team and the boys on another.
Many teachers got tired of her questions at an early point in the year as he remembered. That is why she became secluded and began to draw. The dark colors she wore were to keep her in the shadows, he concluded. Still he did not understand.
He pulled a shirt from his closet and baggy black pants that somehow he knew were not the appropriate attire for tonight. Generally he did not care. Careless of what his parents or brother thought he thundered down the stairs getting glances but no words, as he ran into the night out to his car.
As his car pulled up to the sidewalk he realized he didn't remember the ride there, whether or not his speed was below the limit or whether red lights had been an obstacle. He sighed deciding since he didn't hear sirens of any type he was in the clear. He swooped himself out of the car.
Eyes wandered to him questioning his appearance. His once preppy appearance had gone down hill in less than four hours, and he wasn't in the mood to explain. As a matter of fact if he didn't find what or should he say who he wanted here, he would venture back home to drift to sleep he felt that bad.
