Chap. 9
“We need to talk.” Sango said softly leaning against the lockers beside Kagome.
“About what?” Kagome looked at her and knew she had heard. “Word gets around fast.”
“You said yes.” Sango smiled. “My baby's growing up.” Sango started laughing. Kagome soon joined in.
“I guess. He's going to change me you know that right?” Kagome shook her hair behind her shoulders. “If I don't turn into one of them,” She nodded towards a group of cheerleaders. “I'll be one of them.” Then she changed directions and nodded towards a group of girls in really short skirts and tank tops.
“And the difference?” Sango laughed. “Kagome you're not like that and never will be.” Her fingers played with a strand of Kagome's bangs before tucking it behind her ear. “And if you do I'll kill you.”
“Okay.” Kagome smiled softly. Inu was walking down the hall, which was getting sort of quiet. He stopped in front of the Dark Sprites.
“Come on love, I'll give you a ride home.” He said kissing her cheek.
Kagome sighed. “Here's something you need to learn. A)I don't get rides from guys and B) If I don't show up with Sango at my house, my mom will freak. So sorry love, no rides for me.”
Sango stifled a laugh. “Kagome, go with him. I'll call your mom and tell her my car broke down. She'll understand. Just go.” She whispered, smiling at Miroku. “Beside I have to stay late anyway.”
“Fine, but don't do anything I wouldn't.” Kagome said, giving Sango a wink. “Come on then boy. Let's see how you drive.”
Inu took her hand, winding down the hall way through talking people. “I have something I want you to try on as well, if you would.”
“And what would that be?” Kagome asked, catching a glance at him once they were outside. His eyes glinted with something mischievous almost boyish.
“Just a shirt or two. Nothing big.”
“And how do you propose I do this? In the back of your car? I think not.” Kagome said still walking beside him.
“Kagome, you've been wearing a tank top under your shirts since you were in the fourth grade. I think you can change in my backseat.” Inu said almost laughing. Kagome's brow furrowed.
“And how would you know that?” She asked softly.
Inu smirked. “You're not the only one who's been looking.” He replied, looking over at her. Her face wasn't surprised but it was all the same.
A smile formed somewhere deep inside her working it's way onto her face. As before in English class it was beautiful. The ones with Sango now seemed fake to Inu. These smiles he was getting from her were real. “Alright Inu. For some reason you've been talking me into quite a lot lately.”
“I'm very persuasive.” He smirked.
“Not that persuasive.” Kagome laughed softly. “So where's this car of yours?”
“Right there.” He pointed to a black beauty.
“Holy shit. You have to be kidding me.” Kagome slid her hand along the passenger side door.
“Nope, father bought, Inu picked.” He sighed contently.
She opened the door and slid in. “Very nice.” She flicked her hair behind her shoulders and leaned back. Inu got into the car, pulling and throwing her a bag with the clothes in it. She dug through it momentarily. “All of this stuff is green and blue. You know I only wear black.”
“There's one red thing in there. And most of the blues are really dark. Just try them on please. It would mean a lot to me.” He said starting the car and pulling out of the parking spot.
“I'll do it at home. You can stay if you like, my mom won't bother us. She's pretty good about leaving me and friends alone.” He nodded but didn't say anything, he was getting farther than he wanted and way too fast. “Inu? Are you comfortable going into my room?”
“Yeah, I'll be fine. What guy is afraid of going into his girlfriend's room?”
Kagome almost laughed. “Afraid of what you might find?” She looked at him with laughing eyes. “Inu, It's not like I have a statue of you that I worship- I'm not that bad. I'm a normal person, I just have different ways of showing it.”
Inu smiled again. “Okay.” The car pulled up to the curb, and Kagome instantly got out as Inu turned off the car. Her mother was already at the door.
“Sango called said her car broke down and you were coming home with another friend.” Her mother looked over her shoulder. “I didn't know you had any other friends.”
“Mother this is Inu. Inu my mother.” Kagome said, sighing. “We have homework and I assume you won't bother us.”
“Yes dear.” her mother said softly. “I'll be in the kitchen if you need me.” The older woman moved away then.
Kagome whispered under her breath. “No one ever needs you.” And then motioned for Inu to follow her up stairs. As she walked into her room she looked around pleased with the way it looked and allowed him in. “So, what all did you bring me?” She shook the items from the bag onto her bed.
“You're walls are black and blue?”
“Yeah and?”
“ I thought you didn't like blue.”
“That color I do.” She said pulling out a shirt from the pile. It had lace around the collar and the material was a soft blue. “Sort of like this color.”
Inu looked at her as she pulled her shirt off, accidentally taking the tank top he had mentioned earlier with it. But he said nothing, and could only look at her. He had never seen such a beautiful body. Her curves were perfect. Dark, and perfect. Then she pulled on the other shirt and the skin he had been looking at was covered.
“So? How do you like it?” She asked smiling.
His response was only a whisper. “It's different. Beautiful even.” Her eyes caught his.
“Inu, tell me something.” She whispered back taking of the shirt and putting on a red dress over her pants.
“Anything.”
Her eyes glanced up at him then down again. “Are you really in love with me or is this just a game you like playing?”
Inu caught her hips, and brought them close to his. “I love you Kagome. More than anything.”
She looked up at him innocently, scanning his face for a lie. “I love you too Inu.”
He leaned down slowly, his lips meeting hers softly. Right at that moment the door opened, Kagome's mom walked in. “Do you guys need any…”
