Waiting and watching, it was all the small group of people trying to abolish the demon known as Naraku could do. Although he was badly injured Naraku was still a serious threat. Kikyo and Kagome lifted there bows in unison and each fired off a purifying arrow toward a gaping hole in narakus chest. The aura of the shekon jewel was present, and if they could purify that then Naraku would be as well.

The Arrows hit side by side, an incredible light erupted from Narakus chest cavity. It finally seemed Naraku was thru, but just as the group relaxed a bit they heard a voice.

“I may be going to hell… but I don't have to go alone”!!

Naraku with the last of his strength began to manipulate the wind to draw in anyone close enough to him. Since kikyo and Kagome were the closest to him at the time they found it impossible to escape the strong cyclone. They both began yelling for help. Inuyasha and Kouga exchanged panicked glances. Inuyasha and Kouga took off for the two girls. Inuyasha reached Kikyo only seconds before Kouga reached Kagome. Inuyasha grabbed Kikyo and jumped into the trees making a narrow escape. Kouga reached kagome and grabbed her arm. Kagome had never been this afraid for her life, and after seeing that inuyasha had first gone to Kikyo didn't make the situation any better. “He left me! He left me!”

Kagome who had been pulling against the strong winds gave out just as Kouga reached her. Even Kouga had to struggle against the pull of the wind, despite the fact that his jewel shards remained. After finally reaching the others, he laid Kagome on the ground. “Where are Inuyasha and Kikyo”? Kouga asked.

“I'm not sure” replied Sango.

Kagome had finally woken up. To her surprise it had been hours since the fall of Naraku.

“How long have I been asleep”?

She asked Kouga who had stayed by her side the whole time.

“About four hours I'd say”.

Kagome had a sad and pained look on her face. Kouga taking notice of this said to her “He's at Kaedes home with, the monk and the other girls”.

“Other girls”? Kagome had a curious look to her face.

“Yes the Priestess to”.

Kagome looked pained. “Thank you for saving me Kouga; I don't know how to thank you”.

“Don't worry about it I was saving the woman I loved”. “Any man in love would do the same”.

Kouga bit his tong. Even though he loved Kagome he knew where her heart really lies. “Kagome ..”

Kouga looked at her face. She was wearing a fake smile.

“Kouga I'm tired could I be alone for a while”.

“Sure”, Kouga said smiling back at Kagome.

“Is there anything else”? Kouga asked.

“Please just tell everyone im not in the mood for visitors”.

“Does that mean everyone”? Kouga pressed the request.

“Everyone” she replied.

Kouga left the room silently. Kagome sat up and put her hand on her forehead, she was feeling a little dizzy from so much sleep.

“Where do you think you're going dog breath”? Kagome heard Kouga call out.

“Move aside you wimpy wolf I'm here to talk to Kagome”. At the sound of Inuyashas voice kagomes heart sped up.

“She doesn't want to see anyone, that's you to mutt”. Kougas seriousness confirmed Inuyashas feeling that Kagome wasn't ok with him.

“Feh, Tell kagome I'll be here in the morning to talk to her” Inuyasha spoke so Kagome could hear his words

. Kagome stood and walked to the door and placed her hand on it. Her confusion had finally cleared up and she drew the only sensible conclusion. Inuyasha would tell her tomorrow that he had chosen Kikyo. Not wanting to feel the rejection kagome picked up her back pack and headed out the door.

A startled Kouga followed Kagome. They were silent the whole way until Kagome reached the well.

“It's over Kouga. I have to go home now”. Kagomes voice was shaking.

“Couldn't you stay for me”? Asked Kouga.

“I'm sorry it wouldn't be fair to you. I could never love you completely. I'm sorry”, and with that Kagome headed down the well back home. After crawling to the top she sorrowfully placed the lid on the well and sealed it with a purifying arrow. “We will never meet again Inuyasha”.
