I do not own any of the InuYasha characters mentioned in this fanfic. However, I own Kane-Sakura and Setsuna and the other original characters are owned by Steph (Mika and Nakura), Nicky (Michi and Ori), and Danielle (Yuki and Akira [coming soon]).

 

Well, this worked out wonderfully. Christmas is mentioned in here and I plan on writing a Christmas chapter really soon. I didn't plan it like this, but I'm glad it turned out like it did. And fantastic news: I've finished the rough draft of my second movie, `Only Time…' which will be premiering in January most likely. I'll be typing like crazy during Christmas vacation and what's great is I get an extra week off because I'm going to Florida from the 16th to the 24th of December. Yes, a whole extra week! (yells and dances around room with glee)

 

Chapter 33: Revelation

 

One month later…

 

Kane rolled into her husband's arms again in the early morning sunlight as it filtered through the window curtains. She kissed him on the forehead as her usual signal to wake, but he only stubbornly rolled over, trying to let sleep succumb his senses once again. `I'll let him sleep; my appetite last night must've worn him out.' They had spent hours in bed the night before and he had grown tired. But she had continued to beg for more, which he obligingly gave to her. `I guess I should've known better.'

 

She walked into the master bathroom to ready herself for the coming day. The robe fell from her shoulders and onto the floor so she could examine herself in the mirror. Below her belly button, a small mound had formed where her child slept. She caressed it gently before stepping over to the shower to turn on the spray of water. As she stepped in, she heard a shuffling of feet on the floor followed by a knock on the door.

 

“Yes?”

 

“Can I come in?” Setsuna asked as he stepped into the bathroom.

 

“I don't see why not.” Kane said as she started to wet her hair down. Then the curtain was pushed aside and she saw her husband, stark naked, smiling in glee.

 

“Are you sure?” He didn't wait for an answer. Climbing in, he pressed her against the shower wall and kissed her hard on the lips. She gasped, and he took that opportunity to plunge into her sweet mouth. Both of his hands rested on her waist, and his arousal sprang to life on her thighs. Even though steaming hot water trickled down his face, he took no notice as he plundered and took what was his.

 

But Kane stopped him, moving her head to the side and panting as he instead suckled her neck. “Setsuna, we can't. Not now…”

 

“Come on, you were wild last night. I couldn't stop thinking about it the entire time I slept.” He shuddered with sexual tension as he calmed down enough to speak. “Besides, what could a little morning sex hurt?”

 

“I love you, really I do, but today's not a good time for shower sex.” Kane protested. “We have to go to the obstetrician today. You know, for my check-up?” But Setsuna only continued to stimulate her and she too quivered with desire.

 

He caught her mouth again. “Setsuna, think of the baby. I'm really tired this morning from our…toss in bed last night, so can we take it easy?”

 

He slumped against her with one knee between her parted legs and whimpered. “Okay, I'll let you rest.” Then he smiled. “But I'm not leaving until you're done.”

 

Kane started to lather her hair with flower-scented shampoo that had Setsuna aroused all over again. “Okay, but then could you scrub my back?”

 

He carefully controlled himself, grabbing a mesh sponge and another sweet smelling soap to wash his wife. While one hand worked the lather in her back, his other hand rested comfortably and sensually on her hip. His broad chest soon met with her back when he was done washing her and he just held her. The other hand soon wandered down to the small mound that told him she did indeed carry his child. “I'm still in shock that we created a child together.”

 

Kane's hand lowered over his, closed around it, and then squeezed. “I know. Just think; in a few months, I'll be as big as Mika says I am.” She turned around and kissed his lips gently just before rinsing out her hair and her back.

 

“What's it like?”

 

“Well, it's kind of scary.” Kane paused. “I mean, this fetus is going to get bigger, and then I'll have to pass a six to eight pound baby through…yeah. Anyway, that's gotta hurt at least a little.” She exaggerated, knowing full well it would hurt like hell. All the better to have it at the hospital, where there are doctors and drugs.

 

Reality hit him again full force. “I can't believe that I'm going to be a father.”

 

“Get used to the idea, daddy,” Kane mocked. “Because in six months, your son or daughter will be here in person.” She shut off the water and they stepped out to dry off.

 

He ruffled his hair with the towel until it wasn't sopping in his eyes. As he started to comb it out with his fingers, he asked, “What time is that appointment?”

 

“At ten-thirty. You're coming with, right?” Kane flipped her hair into a towel and twisted it to keep it out of her face as she did her make-up.

 

“Of course. You said we might see our baby for the first time and I'd like to see how that's done.”

 

“Technology still intrigues you?”

 

He blushed. “Yeah, just a little.”

At the doctor's office, Kane lay on the examining table while Setsuna gripped her hand. He was overwhelmed by all the new scents and was uncomfortable in a hospital, knowing there were sick people that could make his wife sick too. Then the doctor came in; an attractive young man in his late twenties. Setsuna's possessive nature took over the second he caught a whiff of that man.

 

“Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Hideik. How do you feel today?” He read off of a medical chart.

 

“Very good. My morning sickness is gone and my cravings have increased.” She replied as he put rubber gloves on for the exam.

 

As he started feeling around her stomach, Setsuna noticed all the other scents of women on him. He gazed down at Kane as she relaxed and let the doctor touch her. When he looked back up at the doctor, he was putting her legs in stirrups for a vaginal exam. At this, he growled low, but the doctor just continued his job. Once he'd gotten the pap smear, he took off his gloves and said, “Okay, everything looks healthy. I'm just going to run this to a nurse to take to the lab.”

 

After he left, Kane gave him an angry look. “What was that growl all about?”

 

“He smells like ten other women, Kane. And what was he doing to you…down there?” He asked with a blush on his face.

 

“Oh please, he has to do it for mine and the baby's health. I hope our child doesn't end up being as possessive as you are.”

 

“No other man is allowed to touch my mate in that intimate of a way. We're never coming…”

 

Kane knocked him on the head. “Get a grip; do you want to keep this baby healthy or not?!” The doctor returned at that moment.

 

“Okay, let's see how things are going in there.” He pulled up Kane's shirt to her breasts and heard Setsuna's overprotective growl. He looked up as Kane scowled over at him. Setsuna managed a fake smile and looked around like he hadn't made a sound. The doctor put gel on the small mound of Kane's belly. Then he put the transducer on the gel and began to look on the screen at the black and white images. Then he got closer to the screen to see if he was really seeing this. He mumbled something as he wrote some notes on his chart and paused to look at it again. Kane looked over at her husband with a worried expression as he looked at the moving picture on the monitor. He put the picture on pause so it could print off a photo of the ultrasound for the parents to keep. “I have some news for you, Mrs. Hideik.”

 

Her breath hitched. “Is everything okay?”

 

“Everything is perfect, you're perfectly healthy. But if you look at this picture, you'll see something that might stand out if you know what you're looking for.” He made a circle with his fingers on the screen, then made another. “There are two `pearl strands' here, which means you're not expecting a baby, but instead you're expecting two.”

 

“Two?” Kane and Setsuna said together.

 

“Congratulations; you two are going to be parents of fraternal twins.”

 

“You mean, there are two of them in her?” Setsuna's face looked whiter than his hair.

 

The doctor nodded and handed them the small print. “No smoking or alcohol consumption; eat healthily and rest as much as possible. I want to see you once a month for check-ups, okay Mrs. Hideik?”

 

“H-hai.” She said as she looked at the picture.

 

Ten minutes later, as they walked to the car, Setsuna looked over at her as she gaped at the little picture and held his hand with the other. “Kane, are you okay?”

 

“We're gonna have twins.” She stated. “Two babies instead of one. That means two of everything instead of one. Twice the work, twice the money…” She trailed off.

 

“Hey, do you think we should slow down at home?” Setsuna opened the car door for her.

 

That got Kane's attention. “You mean like not have sex anymore?”

 

He nodded solemnly. “At least not until those two are born.”

 

“You don't think…” Kane laughed. “Setsuna, these two were created at the same time. I didn't conceive again after one was in there for two months. We could have sex everyday and there'd only be two when the time comes to have them.” She laughed again. “Where'd you get that idea?”

 

He sighed happily. “Doesn't matter. Should we go and break the news to the others?”

 

“Oh, I'm never gonna hear the end of this. Mika and Michi are never going to shut up.” She sighed. “But, I guess they need to know too.”

Mika held some ice to her head as she lay on the sofa, her face twisted in a grimace. “Ugh! This whole pregnancy really gets on my nerves.” She said in annoyance.

 

Michi glanced over at her from the floor, where she sat studying rhythms for her drum part in one of their songs for the recording session in a week. “Are you pregnant too?”

 

“Beg.” Michi's face plowed into her music that was scattered on the floor before her. “No, Kane's pregnancy. I've had this headache since yesterday. And all because I noticed that she'd gained a little weight.”

 

The monk sat up and brushed herself off. Putting her hands on her hips, she retorted with, “You called her a sea cow.”

 

“That was supposed to be a compliment; she looks more like a whale.”

 

“Mika! I thought you'd try to be nicer to her now that she's having mood swings!” Michi stood up and took her papers to the coffee table in the middle of the room. “And give her a break; she's not exactly in the best stage of her pregnancy yet.”

 

“With all the heels I've gotten lately, she won't last long after that whelp is born.”

 

There was a resilient knock on the front door and Michi went over to answer it. On the other side, she found Kane and her husband. “Hi you guys! How are you feeling?” She hugged Kane out of sheer happiness to see her friend. Quite frankly, Mika had been a bore and wasn't very friendly as of late.

 

“We're doing pretty good. We just finished at the doctors, and we have some news to tell.”

 

“What's his problem?” Michi saw Setsuna's color-drained face.

 

“He's still in shock from what the doctor said.”

 

As they walked in, she saw Mika lying on the couch with the ice to her head, music sheets with guitar chords on them spread over her chest. “Hey Mika, been working on those songs?”

 

“Actually, we were just about to practice a little with our instruments.” Michi said cheerfully. “I think the things you wrote are both genius and beautiful.”

 

Kane blushed. “Thanks Michi.”

 

The wolf demon opened her eyes at last and acknowledged Kane's presence with an irrepresable groan. “What the hell are you doing here?”

 

Kane sighed in mock hurt. “Not even allowed in my old home anymore without her Royal Highness's approval. God Mika, you sure are a crab ass this morning.”

 

“You'd be too if you'd been heeled in the ground numerous times in one day.” Mika sat up and tossed the ice pack away. “I'd appreciate if you backed off for about six months.”

 

“Depends,” Kane stated with a frown. “Resist calling me fat and I'll resist subduing you silly.”

 

“We'll see.”

 

She only took Setsuna's hand and led him with her to the chair opposite the other two. She sat comfortably on the cushion while he sat on the arm rest to her right. They laced their fingers together. “At the doctor's office today, we got an ultrasound and found out some very startling, yet exciting news. We're not going to have a baby, instead…”

 

“You mean you're not pregnant? Then what's with the mood swings, morning sickness, the HEELS!!?” Mika asked angrily.

 

“No, I'm pregnant. Don't worry, the ultrasound confirmed that.” Kane covered her little belly and smiled. “We're expecting fraternal twins.”

 

After a minute of pure silence, Mika was the first once to speak up. “So, what you're saying is you're going to have a litter of kittens and puppies? Or will they be a combination of the two?”

 

“HEEL!” She fell off the couch. Michi only sighed as Mika's raged started to boil. “No, it's not a litter. There are two babies growing in me and if I hear anything else about a litter, I'll send you to kingdom come!”

 

“Hey, I was only joking!” Mika stood and got in Kane's face.

 

“Well I didn't take it that way, flea-bag!”

 

“Learn to take a joke, mutt-face!”

 

“Scrawny wolf!”

 

Michi got in between them before they started getting physical on each other. “Hey, guys! Calm down.” She pushed Mika down on the couch as Setsuna grabbed his angered wife.

 

“Kane, calm down. Remember what the doctor said?” He reached down to touch the place where his children slept.

 

Her eyes glittered with rage, but she took three deep breaths to calm herself. “Okay, I'm fine.” She smiled back at Setsuna and kissed him on the lips.

 

“Kane, do you think we could go back to the Sengoku Jidai tomorrow?” Michi asked out of the blue.

 

“For what?”

 

“Well, we haven't seen Yuki since the contest we won two months ago. I'm worried she might be in danger.”

 

Kane nodded. “I've been wondering about her too. Why did she go off on her own again?”

 

“She told me that she'd heard of someone who knew more about her past.” Mika said casually. “She told me to tell you, but it slipped my mind.”

 

“Obviously.” Kane stated with sarcasm. “Yeah, we should go tomorrow. InuYasha needs to hear the news too, although he might go on a tangent about this, just to warn you Setsuna.” She leaned into his embrace.

 

“Great. He'll be after my dick and my balls again tomorrow. Can I stay home?”

 

She laughed as she headed for the door. “No, you need to protect me from any danger that gets near me, even my brother.”

 

They left and all was quiet in the apartment again. “I've never seen Kane so happy before.” Michi said quietly.

 

“Yeah, Setsuna's changed her life and she feels complete now with a family on the way. I only hope her happiness lasts during her labor and after the pups are born.” She shuddered. “Especially during her labor.”

 

“Twice the pain, twice the work.” Michi took the ice pack and lay on the couch. “You know, I think you're right. This is going to be hell.”

“Why do you honestly insist upon taking your sword?” Setsuna complained as he helped Kane out of the well. “You shouldn't do anything that will endanger you and the pups.”

 

Kane only sighed. “Setsuna, I'm perfectly capable of defending myself if need be. Besides, Teretsu is my inheritance from father. It protects me.”

 

He put an arm around her shoulders to keep her warm in the cool early December air. “But you should be careful. You have enemies here that covet your Kizukaseru.” They started walking to catch up with everyone else.

 

“Yeah, I know. And it scares the hell out of me.” Kane said hesitantly. “How about you? Do you have any enemies?”

 

“I did. But, that's not important right now. I have no clue where he went or even if he's still alive.”

 

“You're avoiding the subject.” She stated monotonously. But before she could continue, Michi ran back to her to talk.

 

“Kane, when are we going in to record again?”

 

She thought over it carefully before answering. “We're scheduled to go in on the tenth for our final session. Why?”

 

“You know that Christmas is coming soon, right?” She paused and let the question sink in. “I was wondering if we could instead record a new Christmas album.”

 

“Michi, we have all of our songs planned and almost done. We don't need to take anymore time off of school to record music. We're taking a day off today to find Yuki.” Kane argued.

 

Setsuna piped in. “Actually, a Christmas album sounds like fun. Why doesn't DK-9 and Devastate do one together?”

 

“Not you too.” Kane groaned. “We'll discuss it at home, okay?”

 

Michi squealed. “That's almost a yes! I can't wait to tell Mika, Ori, and Nakura!” She ran ahead of them again.

 

Setsuna laughed and kissed his wife on the head, right in between her ears. “Speaking of Christmas, what do you want from Santa this year?”

 

She thought it over for a minute, and then said happily, “A puppy would make a nice addition to our family, don't you think?” She smiled, imagining the kind of dog she had wanted since childhood. “A toy, like a long haired Chihuahua. They're small and easy to care for.”

 

“Anything else?” He asked as he nibbled her ear.

 

“A party with just our close friends.” She replied jokingly.

 

Setsuna sighed in defeat. “Are you sure you don't want anything else?”

 

“Yeah, an explanation of who your enemy was.” She said, and he stopped walking.

 

“Kane, I told you earlier; that's not important…”

 

“The hell it's not important. You know who my enemy is, so why shouldn't I?”

 

“Why'd you change the subject?” He asked heatedly. “I was indicating something like a nice night alone, for just the two of us.”

 

Kane rolled her eyes. “We're not alone you know. The others are only a few feet in front of us and I'd rather not talk about sex in front of them.” She did go up to him and kiss his nose. “Besides, Michi changed the whole subject and we never changed it back.”

 

Setsuna hesitated for a moment, but then decided it wouldn't hurt for her to know who to look out for. After all, an enemy of his was an enemy of hers now. “His name was Akira.”

 

“Akira?”

 

“Yeah. When I was younger, not long after I'd been disowned as a teen, I got into a big fight with him over Atsuko. I was still seeing her at the time and he wanted to take her away to be his mate, so he challenged me and said whoever won got the girl. Akira, being a full demon, thought he could win, but as you might've guessed, I beat him. After that, he vowed revenge, and came back numerous times to challenge me again. I only told him that he wasn't worth beating twice and he eventually stopped coming by.”

 

“And you haven't seen him since?” Kane asked.

 

“Nope, I assumed he died when he stopped coming around.”

 

The wind picked up without warning, giant gusts that swirled around them and almost made them lose their balances. Then a man with midnight-blue hair and silver eyes leapt from the tree tops and landed before them. He was tall, taller than Setsuna, and had very broad shoulders. And on his forehead, he had an arrow pointed up towards the sky.

 

“You assumed I had died? What a laugh!” The man smirked and observed Kane with the devil in his eye. “Who's the bitch? Did you discard Atsuko for her?”

 

Setsuna shoved her behind him and said, “Atsuko was killed a while back. But I don't think I need to explain myself, Akira. If you call Kane that again, you'll find your pretty hair the color of charcoal.” He threatened.

 

Akira only shrugged and looked over at Kane again. “You've really found a keeper there Hideik. She's ten times prettier than Atsuko was.” He sniffed, and his eyes widened. “But, I can't help but see a resemblance to InuYasha in her. In fact, she could almost pass as his half-sibling if I didn't know better.”

 

`He knows about her. What's he up to?' “Cut the crap Akira. What do you want?” Setsuna knew he didn't even have to ask. The answer was right in front of him: revenge.

 

“What else cat-boy? I came for revenge on you for kicking my ass.” He came a step closer. “And this time when I win, your mate will be mine.”

 

“Like hell she will!” Setsuna bellowed. “You can't take someone else's mate that's been claimed. And if you even touch one hair on her head, I'll rip your intestines out and eat them for dinner.”

 

`There goes my appetite.' Kane sighed, unsheathing Teretsu. “Setsuna, let's take care of this guy so we can find our friend.”

 

He got in front of her again and looked back at her by turning his neck. “No! You protect yourself and the pups; if something were to happen to you, I'd never find it in myself to forgive me.”

 

Akira watched as they argued. `He's produced an heir I see.' He looked at the woman with a glare in his eyes. `Setsuna would probably flee rather than fight to protect his mate from harm. Well then, I guess it's time for plan B.' As they argued, Akira changed into his true form, a giant blue phoenix. He flapped his wings and took off towards them, bird talons extended towards Kane's arms.

 

“I'm not that defenseless!” She argued as she sheathed Teretsu. “I'm just three months pregnant!”

 

“Listen, this is my enemy, so just…” Akira's talons swept Kane up into the air by her arms. Setsuna watched helplessly as his mate was taken into the air, a hostage of his enemy.

 

“KANE!!!”
