“It’s hot in here.” Kagome said as she probed her pool stick against the table and pulled her jacket off. She leaned over the table and took aim, eyeing the yellow number eight ball. The interior of the restaurant was smoky and dim. Kouga leaned close to her, eyeing the simple black spaghetti strapped shirt she wore. “You look great, you know that?”
She chuckled and hit the ball. She missed and hit two other balls instead. “So do you.”
Kouga hooked his finger in the waist band of her jeans and tugged her against him. “You’re losing.” He said before he kissed her.
“And I’m winning.” Miroku called out as he shot three balls in one shot. Sango laughed as she beat Miroku in the next shot.
“Kagome, why don’t you go get us some drinks?” She nodded and handed her cue stick to Kouga, frowning. Over the past couple of months he’d been acting different. More bossy. More possessive. She pushed her way through the heavy crowd, finally making it to the tender. “Four drinks. Two Dr. Pepper and two Pepsi.”
“Make that five. Add a Mountain Dew in there.” She turned, startled as the voice came from beside her. Inuyasha stood there, his forearms resting on the counter top.
“Are you stalking me?”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “No. I have no reason to stalk you. I want you to know I’m there.”
She went to pick up the four soda cans but Inuyasha beat her to it and took three of them and started walking with her towards the small group. “Wolf boy couldn’t get these himself?”
She opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say. They reached the table and the eased expression on Kouga’s face vanished when he saw Inuyasha. He took his and Kagomes drinks. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Inuyasha leaned against the table. “I was here with some friends before you guys even showed up. I just didn’t make myself known until now.” He took a long swallow of his drink as he stared at Kouga. The look in his amber eyes was anything but innocent. “Let’s play, Kouga. Just you and me.”
“Fine by me. I’ll beat you at another thing.” He pulled Kagome up against his side to prove his point.
“You so sure about that?” Inuyasha picked up a cue stick and started rubbing chalk on the tip. Kouga nodded and did the same. “Alright…” Inuyasha set the balls in place. “Winner gets to kiss Kagome and she has to respond. Big time.”
“Hey—“
“What? Scared you won’t win?” Inuyasha shrugged and started to turn away.
“Bring it on, shit face.” Kouga took the first turn, breaking up the balls. He knocked one into a hole and grinned.
“Good for you. Didn’t know you had it in you.” Inuyasha leaned over the table and steadied it, taking aim. He hit. Missed his target. Kouga was winning half way through the game. Inuyasha had yet to make five shots. He was a poor player. The game was halfway over when Inuyasha started hitting his targets each time. One ball after another.
He looked up as he took his turn again, his amber eyes glinting. He hit and watched as another ball made its way into a hall. Kouga was getting more and more agitated if looks were anything to go by. “Luck?” Inuyasha threw out, shrugging innocently. Luck his ass. He had waited until Kouga was so sure of himself, so sure that he was going to win. Kouga just didn’t know that Inuyasha was a master at this. There was one ball left and they were both tied. All they had to do was get the ball in the hole. It was the black ball but they had decided whoever shot that ball in would win.
Kagome was starting to feel a little nervous. She’d watched them play. Kouga had started out pretty good and then halfway through Inuyasha had started winning. Hell. He’d done it on purpose!
“You fidgeting, Kagome?” Sango whispered to her as they watched the two, so focused on the game.
“Ah…no.” She wasn’t nervous. She shouldn’t be nervous. It was only one ball and there was no reason why Kouga wouldn’t hit it. He was good at this. After all, she had agreed to the winner terms, too. She watched as Kouga missed the ball and then shrugged nonchalantly. “I’ll get it next time ‘round.”
“You won’t get the chance.” Inuyasha said as he took the hit. The ball bounced off the wall and then smoothly circled the table before entering one of the edge holes. He straightened slowly, turning to look at Kouga with a huge grin on his face. Kouga exploded.
“You cheated!”
“How could I cheat? AT POOL? You were watching me the whole time.” Inuyasha turned towards Kagome and crooked his finger at her. “C’mere, babe.”
Kouga growled and stepped forward. “Like hell—“
Kagome sighed and walked between the two. “Oh for God’s sake? Will both of you stop?” She looked at Kouga. “We both agreed to it but you agreed to it first. It’s just a kiss, Kouga. It won’t mean anything.” She then directed her stare at Inuyasha. “Get that? And your hands do not wander. That wasn’t in the deal so it’s a no go. Now let’s get this over with.”
“What’s the rush?” He pulled her into his arms and then turned so that he had her pinned against the table. She couldn’t stop the way her heart skipped a beat before it began to beat a little faster. “Remember your part of the deal.” Inuyasha murmured before he leaned down and kissed her.
He kept his promise not to touch her. His hands stayed on either side of her hips, gripping the edge of the table. That didn’t stop the rest of his body from touching her though. He pressed himself against her, keeping his body flush against hers. And just as she had promised, she kissed him back. The moment his tongue thrust past her lips she was kissing him back, her tongue thrusting into his mouth, over and over, mimicking his movements. All too soon he was kissing her hard and she found herself moaning into his mouth. Whistles erupted in the small restaurant and then Inuyasha was jerked off her.
“Asshole.” Kouga would have punched Inuyasha but he’d made the deal, too. “Let’s go.” Kouga snarled as he grabbed ahold of Kagome’s arm. She frowned, looking at Sango over her shoulder but didn’t say anything as she followed Kouga out of the building. As soon as they were outside, Kouga turned on her. “What the HELL was that? Moaning? What the fuck? Tell me you weren’t enjoying that.”
“Kouga, what’s your problem?”
“What’s my problem? Another guy was kissing my girl. That’s my problem.”
“Oh my God, Kouga. You had your chance to say no to this stupid bet but you didn’t. I was keeping my end of the bargain. I didn’t ask for this. You did it.” She couldn’t bring herself to answer his question fully though. She hadn’t liked the kiss. Then why was her heart pounding? While she despised Inuyasha, she found his kiss utterly hot. So damn sexy that her toes had curled. He knew how to kiss. Oh God. She was starting to like Inuyasha. A little. And that little was too much.
Hell no! She did not like Inuyasha! She just had to keep telling herself that…
Kouga had reason to be jealous but still, it was getting on her nerves. He was becoming too possessive. Still…what was wrong with her? She sighed and shook her head. “I’m going home. I’m tired…so I’ll see you tomorrow.” She rose up on her tip toes to kiss him but he stopped her.
“Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow. We’ll talk then.” Was all he said.
