Chapter Two
Kagome’s past and Totosai the sword smith
All that Kagome could think about was the past and what she was going to do. ‘Why did everything that day have to happen? My family shouldn’t have died. They were innocent! Why did Sango have to get hurt? Why did I have to turn into a forbidden child? That day started of nice but it quickly went into chaos…’
~*~*Flashback*~*~
“Lady Kagome!, Lady Kagome! Come quick onegai! Tai is hurt pretty badly and needs to be bandaged.” Rin yelled as she searched for her sister figure. “Oneesan! Where are you?” Rin looked for Kagome in her usual spots that she would pick herbs and flowers for her medicines, but she wasn’t there. ‘Wait a minute…I didn’t check the field of flowers in the forest!’ Rin started to walk toward the forest and stopped to look around for Kagome. She was too caught up in her thoughts to notice that Kagome was right behind her with a basket of herbs in her hands.
“Rin-chan, what are you doing here?” Rin jumped and spun around. “Oneesan! Tai is hurt badly and needs to be bandaged with your herbs! Hayaku!” Kagome nodded and quickly followed Rin back to the village. When Kagome finally entered the hut and got a good look at Tai, she could see blood soaked bandages on his body and knew it was serious.
“What did this to you Tai?” she softly whispered as she began to peel of his bloody bandages. His eyes opened and he gave her a pained smile. “I’ll be okay Kaggie-chan…It was just a dragon youkai that did this to me…Ngh…” Kagome looked at him with concern. “Tai-kun, are you alright? I could try to lessen the pain for you.” Kagome whispered as she finished applying the antiseptic to his wounds and bandaging them.
“I’m okay Kaggie. My wounds are hurting badly though. Could you lessen the pain enough for me to sleep Kaggie-chan? Kagome nodded and lightly placed her hands over the bandages, focusing her miko powers to help heal her oniisan’s wounds. Her powers wouldn’t completely heal him, but they would get his wounds healed to where they were half healed. She couldn’t fully heal him because she was still healing herself. She had got into a fight with a neko when it didn’t want to stop killing the people of a village close by and she ended up with a broken arm, and a broken ankle. It tuned out that the neko didn’t play fair and it was a god thing that Sango had followed her because the second neko had taken her by surprise.

Sango’s POV
‘Where is Kagome? We were supposed to go to the forest to get those herbs for Mira-sama. Maybe I should send Kirara to go and find her?’ Sango walked around the god tree and looked around trying to spot her younger sister. Hai that’s what I’ll do. Mira-sama will need those herbs soon.’ She looked up and found Kirara sitting on the branches of the God tree. “Kirara, go and bring Kagome here. We have herbs to find for Mira-sama. I won’t let her go alone.” Kirara nodded and jumped off the branch, running toward the village.

Kagome’s POV
Kagome could sense a familiar youkai aura coming closer to the village and stepped out of the hut. ‘It’s Kirara! Is she here to bring me to where ever Sango-chan is? I can’t believe I forgot to pick those herbs for Mira-sama! Kirara stopped in front of her and transformed. Kagome grabbed her basket and got on. Kirara took off towards the northwest, heading towards her master’s aura.
It was a quick flight to the God Tree and they found Sango sitting on one of the roots. Kirara landed and the group started to walk into the forest. After a short walk through the forest, the group reached the clearing. “Kagome, I’ll stay here and watch for any youkai while you pick the herbs.” Kagome nodded, walked over to a patch of herbs, crouched down, and started to pull them out.

Taki’s POV
‘Hmm…when to attack. They look like a good meal. They have their guard down, I should attack now…’ He decided that he wanted his lunch now, so he launched himself at Kirara, hoping to catch her in his claws. The group sensed him coming and jumped out of the way and Kirara hissed angrily and bit into the arm that was in front of her. Taki growled in pain and flung Kirara off. Sango saw this as the perfect time to attack and yelled “Hiraikotsu” as she attacked Taki. It didn’t do as much damage as she had hoped as it would so she had and idea.
Taki took this time to lash out at Sango with his spiked tail and sent her flying into the air. Kirara caught her before she fell to the ground and Kagome called her sister’s name in worry. “Sango, are you alright?” Sango put a hand up to her bleeding shoulder. “I’ll be fine Kagome.” Kagome nodded and tuned to the huge dragon, wanting to stop it from destroying anything else. She knocked an arrow on her bow and fired for the dragon’s heart, but the dragon moved out of the way at the last minute and the arrow hit above the heart. He growled loudly in pain and his eyes turned blood red.
Taki fell to the ground heard, heavily bleeding. “Miko….You will never be the same…I will make sure of it….” Kagome and Sango were confused. “What are you talking about?” they both asked curiously. He smirked in pain as his eyes turned silver and a bright light surrounded Kagome. Then she started to scream and Sango, along with Kirara tried to get her out of the barrier of light. They were thrown far away from the barrier and knocked unconscious. Kagome’s screams were getting louder and louder with each passing minute. “What is happening to me? It feels like I’m being torn apart! Ahhh! Oneesan! Help me onegai!” Kagome yelled in pain. She endured this for what seemed like forever to her but it was actually and hour when the barrier dissolved.
“What did you do to me?” she growled dangerously. He smirked and laughed at her growl. “You are now a forbidden child. You will not be accepted anywhere. Any demon that learns what you really are will want to kill you on the spot…This is my revenge…” She couldn’t believe what she was just told. She was turned into a forbidden child and what made it worse was that she was a miko not too long ago.
Kirara padded up to Kagome with and unconscious Sango on her back. “Kirara, bring Sango back to the village, I have things I have to do right now. Kirara nodded and headed off towards the village. ‘The only ones that will accept me will be Rin, tai, Sango, and Mira-sama. I need to go and get a sword forged. I heard that Totosai the sword smith is the best around.’ She ran off towards Totosai’s cave, staying in the shadows. ‘I will find a way to turn back to my true self!’

Totosai’s POV
The clang of a hammer hitting a sword was all that you could hear in Totosai‘s cave. “Gee why does that Hirei want so many swords? I think Two is enough but he says he wants twenty!”
“Maybe it’s because they are for his generals and himself. Have you thought of that?”
“Who’s there?”
Kagome stepped out of the shadows and Totosai gasped as he felt her aura. “I want you to forge me a sword. It has to be powerful, not something that will break easily.”
“Hmm…Give me a fang, I’ll do it. I can forge you a very powerful sword with your fang.” Kagome sighed mentally and pulled a fang out and gave it to the old man. “It will be ready in three days.” A fang grew back as soon as she left the cave. Kagome sighed out loud. “Now what am I going to do?” She decided to go back to the village but stay in the shadows to watch over them.
When Kagome got to the village, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The whole village was destroyed and the only people that were alive were Sango, Rin, Mira, and Tai.
