Chapter Three

Kagome’s past she’s out for revenge

Kagome’s POV

‘What happened? Who did this to the village? I must know who did this!’ She walked out of the shadows of the tree that she was under and continued to look at the destroyed village. As she walked up behind the group she asked with quiet fury. “Do you know who did this?” Sango, Miroku, and Tai turned around quickly. “Kagome-chan…Where were you?” Sango asked with at tone of hurt in her voice. The question hung in the air and you could almost cut the tension with a knife.

“For one thing Sango, I went to the sword smith Totosai and asked him to forge me a katana that is powerful, something that won’t break. I need something to train with, something to focus my powers. I thought it would be ok to leave you here for a while. Kirara knew that I left. I put you on her back and had her take you to the village so Miroku-sama could bandage you up.” Kagome said stiffly.

Sango’s eyes widened in understanding and then narrowed in anger because she wasn’t there to help defend the village. “Imouto, you weren’t there to help us! Everything was destroyed! As far as I know, we’re the only survivors of the village! You should have stayed!” she looked at Kagome tearfully and ran in the direction of the Goshinboku, only having a wakizashi strapped to her waist.

Miroku placed a hand on Kagome’s shoulder wearily as he saw that her eyes were filling with tears and were starting to haze over with a dark blood red color in anger. “The sword wasn’t only for me to train with. It was to help me keep my self and my powers under control. If I would have known that someone attacked the village I would have been here in a heartbeat.” she growled darkly. “Sango you must not really know me like you say you do. You know I would have been there If I could. I had things that I had to do and they were extremely important. There has to be more survivors…Rin has to be alive! I will find her!” she looked at Miroku and Tai.

“I will ask you again. Do you know who attacked the village?” Tai groaned in pain as the slash across his back began to bother him again. Kagome looked at him with worry. The youkai was strange…it looked like a mix of panther and kuro inu. When I got a good hit at it wit my ryoutou, I saw a large spider shaped scar on its back. Does that help any Imouto?” She looked at him and nodded. She knew what that mark meant. She knew very well what that mark meant. Naraku was targeting herself and wherever she went.

‘Why is he doing this? I know it was forbidden for me, but I when I was little I made Naraku my friend. We were both lonely children. I didn’t meet Sango , Miroku or Tai until I was much older. We were the best of friends until my father found out my secret…He used his holy powers and attacked him, injuring him badly. Naraku was used to bad treatment though. This only brought pain and he looked to my father Daisuke and glared at him with all of the anger that he could. “Why do you attack me old man? I didn‘t attack you!” He growled and bared his fangs. My father glared at him back. I forbid you to see my daughter ever again. I should purify you but I won’t. Now go. Get out!” Naraku got up slowly and looked over to Kagome. Her eyes had tears in them and he gave her a small smile.

He mouthed ‘we’ll meet each other again really soon’ and left, limping painfully out the hut door. Daisuke looked at his daughter and grasped her arm firmly. He led her to her room and decided to talk to her there. “Why were you playing with a hanyou my little ‘gome? You know it’s forbidden for the daughter of a miko and a monk and a future miko in training to be playing with any type of youkai!” Kagome looked at her otousan with tears in her eyes. “We were both lonely. It took a while to become his friend because everyone wanted to hurt him but we are best friends now! It’s going to stay that way otousan! No one wants to be my friend and he’s the only one I have! He’s the only one that understands me!” she ran to her bed and slammed her head onto her pillow not facing her father.

Daisuke couldn’t believe what he was hearing. She had tons of friends that she played with but none of them understood the real her. ‘Wait a minute…now that he thought about it, when he looks outside when her friends are outside, his little ‘gome doesn’t look too happy and she always is off to the side staring up into the sky or at the scenery. She never had a real friend that understood her…Just like she said….Maybe I shouldn’t have sent that hanyou away….’

‘It figures….Someone that I thought was my friend is here attacking me and anyone that I hold dear to me…Is it because of my father? I never really looked at him the same way again after that day….I have so many memories that I shared with Naraku, the good and the bad…He could decide to use them against me….Or he could decide to fight a fairer fight and not use them against her. She didn’t know what he would do when they would meet. He definitely would have changed from when they were friends all those years ago.’

Kagome sighed as she continued to remember things about what happened that day. ‘I wandered around for weeks searching for something that I don’t even know what for ….Naraku showed up sporadically but most of the time it was a golem puppet. Is he scared to face me? I wonder what I’m searching for….’

Totosai’s POV

“Ah, you’re back. I’ve finished your sword like you’ve asked. It’s called the Kuragari. It will definitely help you train now.” He handed it to Kagome and she placed it in her sash. She turned to Totosai and smiled slightly. She could feel the power radiating from the sword. It was her power. Arigato Totosai.” She said softly and left as quickly as she came.

“That girl sure is something…She sure is strong too. She’ll make something of herself someday… She‘s not like all of those other demons that like to push me around…”

Kagome’s POV

‘I’m not going to go back to the village right now…I’m going to find a way to change back before I face them again…I’ll let my senses and the wind guide me to where I want to go…I close my eyes and extend my senses. Everything is pushing me west.

I start to walk in the shadows of the trees, making sure she wasn’t seen. She didn’t want to have to fight any one right now….

“Rin-chan….” she whispered softly. “I will find you!”
