Meeting Again

Time skip: Six Years Later~

Kagome’s POV

‘Why….why does this have to happen?’ She thought ruefully, and she slammed her fist against the bark or a tree. “Damn!” her eyes darkened in thought, and she walked almost blindly into the forest. In the back of her mind, she found that she was heading towards the west, and she smiled slightly. ‘Sess-kun.’ she thought fondly, and as she continued to think of the cute little prince, her eyes brightened and she found herself feeling happier. ‘I wonder what he’s doing? He asked me to teach him more games, but what should I teach him?’ she thought idly, and stopped as she heard a weak cry for help. It sounded like a kitten, and she moved toward the left, where she heard them coming from. Kneeling down, she smiled slightly. There was a small ice neko the color of snow with blue and black tipped feet and tails. As it opened its eyes, Kagome found that she was captured by them, and the icy purple eyes spoke of pain and hardships. Searching the neko’s aura, she smiled sadly. “You’re like me, you were left alone little one weren’t you?”

The neko nodded its head weakly and snuggled into her arms. “I would like to give you a name. How about Keimei?” The newly named Keimei mewed happily, and nuzzled against her. Smiling happily, she stroked Keimei’s soft fur. “At least I know that I have someone to talk to….someone that will understand me.” she murmured, and Keimei mewed in agreement.

But you can talk to Sesshoumaru. her beast reminded her, and she nodded slightly. ‘Yes, but I can’t talk to him about everything…he’s just a child….’ Her beast snorted. A child that isn’t discriminated against us. He only knows us as his friend. her lighter side pointed out, and she sighed softly. ‘And I hope it stays that way.’ She felt her beast shrug. You’ll never know. Only time will tell. nodding, she rolled her eyes. ‘Time can be such a cruel thing….but I guess you are right.’ She heard a small laugh. Of course I’m right! I am right most of the time you know. Rolling her eyes, she giggled lightly. ‘Right, and I’m a princess.’ she replied sarcastically.

‘You know, it is kind of weird that I’m talking to myself….’ her beast laughed. Its normal, don’t worry about it. ‘Normal? What do you mean normal? There is nothing normal about this. I’m talking to myself for kami’s sake!’ A loud, amused laugh resonated through her mind. It is normal for an inner youkai to talk to their other half. We normally give advice on things that you are too scared or too stubborn to do. We help you realize your true feelings. ‘True feelings? Advice? That doesn’t seem like you at all.’ Her inner youkai laughed. That may be true, but I am speaking the truth. I will not lie to you. I may stretch the truth sometimes, but what I say is mainly the truth. I will never lead you on into a lie because I’m not one that is prone to lying. She sighed in relief. She had thought that her beast would be like everyone else….cold, uncaring, and expressing hate towards her. She was glad that it was on her side. After all, it was her in a sense…

So what exactly are we going to do now? I don’t read minds…I hear some of your thoughts, but not all…I can’t hear them now for some reason. ‘That’s because I have a barrier on my mind…its normal for me to do that….you know that.’ Yes, but this barrier is stronger for some reason…I can’t get passed it. Its strange…I don’t remember you learning this. Kagome laughed. ‘That’s because I learned it before I was turned into a youkai….it was one of my lessons a couple years ago.’ Her beast nodded in understanding. Aa so that’s why I can’t get in. it’s a miko barrier. Kagome snorted. ‘Of course! You also forgot that I still had my miko powers, didn’t you?’ She cracked a smile as she heard the nervous laughter. ‘You did! baka onna…You, most of all should know that I was a miko before I was turned!’ Shut up! I get to forget some things, and you shouldn’t berate me for this…even though it is important…Kagome laughed. ‘That’s exactly why I berated you! Its important!’ Kuragari, as she named her alter ego also known as her beast, snorted. Important? Yes, that may be…but I get to forget some things…I know you do!

Her thoughts suddenly turned to Naraku. She couldn’t help but wonder why he had turned on her when he knows that she had nothing to do with what her father did…’I even searched for him….but he eluded me…like he didn’t want to see me.’ she thought sadly, and her beast shook her head. He felt betrayed…Its not surprising he did that. Kagome sighed and left it at that.

As she continued to walk westward, she shrugged out of her mental conversation and looked at the western citadel with wide eyes. “I came all the way here? I guess I really wanted to see Sess-kun.” she murmured lowly.

Sesshoumaru’s POV

“That scent…its familiar….” He murmured to himself. He could smell the familiar scent of jasmine intertwined with cinnamon, ice, and vanilla. “Kagome-chan.” he whispered breathily, and raced to the gardens where her scent was coming from. Stepping into the confines of his mother’s garden, he stared in shock at the dancing figure in the moonlight. She was beautiful. Her skin glowed in the moonlight, and she seemed to dance with her sword as she practiced katas. Stopping as she smelled his familiar scent, she turned around and smiled at him. He was a little surprised as a small neko jumped up into a large sakura tree and settled down, but he dismissed it.

“Hiya Sesshou! I was wondering when you would come and see me….I thought I was going to have to search you out.” she said airily, and he chuckled.

“I recognized your scent easily Kagome-chan. Yours is quite unique…Its not that hard to pick out.” Kagome laughed and came up to him, hugging him tightly. That’s when he noticed how short she actually was. He was almost as tall as she was, and he was only five foot at the moment. “I just realized something…you’re short Kagome-chan.”

Kagome pouted and looked down at him. “That’s so mean Sesshou! Just because you are twelve now and almost a giant, doesn’t mean that you get to pick on me for being short!” she huffed, cracking a smile as he grinned at her.

“Of course it does Kagome-chan! You’re going to be so short to me, but it’ll be funny because I get to look down at you instead of you looking down at me!” He pointed out, and this cause her to pout. “What’s that look for? You don’t want me to look down at you?”

Kagome laughed. “I never said that….its just that you will be a giant compared to me…and that’s not cool…I want to be tall too!” she protested, and this caused Sesshoumaru to grin at her.

“But I like you tiny! Makes you look even cuter!” he replied with a large, cheshire catlike grin. Just as he saw that she was going to say something, he hugged her tightly, and nuzzled the crook of her neck. “I missed you Kagome-chan. Its been so lonely…no one ever sees me for me.” he muttered sadly, and stilled as he smelled the salt of her tears.

She turned around quickly and embraced him tightly. “I’m sorry…so so sorry for that Sesshou!!” she cried, burying her face into his hakama. Not caring that her tears were staining his hakama, he wrapped his arms around his friend comfortably, and found that he felt more relaxed than he had felt in six long years.

“Kagome-chan?” Sesshoumaru asked suddenly.

“Yeah?” came the soft reply from his best friend.

“Don’t leave me for that long again.”

She nodded and looked up at him, her sapphire eyes shining. “Kay.” she said honestly, before nuzzling against him again. “You’re comfy Sesshou.”

“Really?” he asked distractedly, and she nodded against him.

“Yup.” her voice sounded so musical to him and he wondered why, but he dismissed it quickly, and he closed his eyes briefly.

“’Gome- chan?”

“Huh? What is it Sesshou-kun?”

“I don’t want to move, but my legs are falling asleep.”

She laughed. “Here. This’ll make it better.” She pushed her friend back, and he lied out on his back, sprawled out comfortably, with a happy hybrid on his chest. “Happy now?” she asked, snuggling against him. “ You smell good Sesshou….Like waterfalls…..trees, and….Mmm….mint! She piped up, and he smiled slightly.

“Glad to know I smell so good.” he replied lowly, and the two continued to bask in the presence of each other, not knowing that Inutaisho was observing them from afar.

Inutaisho’s POV

So this is the one my son has been spending his time with. He mused, watching as the two talked amiably. It should bother me that she is forbidden, but so Is Shinsei, and I have no problem with her as well. She seems to have the same light as Shinsei as well…that just makes her a better companion for Sesshoumaru. She seems to be the only one that he can ever confide in besides Kirako, and I am grateful to her for that. Daughter…Inutaisho stilled as he heard his beast whisper this, and he was sent into confusion quickly. Daughter? he asked, wondering where his beast was going with this. Yes….strangely, I feel a connection with her…adopt the pup….she seems lonely, in need of a family…he sighed. I will think on this…I can’t just adopt someone into the family, even though Sesshoumaru is so comfortable with her. You could raise her easily, she seems to be at ease with the presence of other youkai. Hai, that is true, but I have to have her opinion on this. Then get it you stubborn youkai! His beast hissed, and his eyebrows raised as he pondered at the strange tone and urgency of his voice. Like I said before, I will think on this. DO IT!! His beast hissed, and as he left the area, he could only smile. Kagome Taisho…sounds nice.

Kagome’s POV

“Keimei? Hat are you….oh, you want to use Sesshou as a pillow too? Go right ahead.” the little neko mewed happily, nuzzling against her new master and the young inu youkai underneath them. Really, like Kagome said, he was comfortable.

Sesshoumaru opened his eyes and looked at the neko confused. “Keimei? What’s she doing?”

She laughed at him and opened her eyes half mast. “Uh, using you as a pillow, what else Sesshou? You’re comfy!”

“Comfy…right….” he replied, running his fingers through her long hair causing her to purr in delight.

“That feels good Sesshou.”

He smirked at her. “That’s why I do it I like it when Kaasan runs her claws through my hair too.”

Kagome froze at the word. Kaasan…I haven’t had a kaasan in a long time. She thought ruefully, and she smiled as she was comforted by both Sesshoumaru and Keimei.

“Gomen nasai Kagome-chan. I didn’t know that your Kaasan had died.” he apologized readily, noticing how she shook in suppressed sadness.

“I-its okay Sesshou-kun. You didn’t know. I just try to forget that day….” she murmured sadly, tightening her arms around him, trying to force her sad memories away.

“You okay Kagome-chan?” she heard him ask, and she nodded absently, looking up at him with a small grin.

“You know, you’re really good at comforting people…I have an idea…I’m bored, so how about we go and torture that annoying toad that follows you around?”

She smirked as she saw the devious glint in her friend’s eyes. “Alright, but first, you have to get off of me ‘Gome-chan.”

Reluctantly getting off of her comfortable spot, she grinned down at him and pulled him up, happily hugging him tightly from behind. Releasing him and jumping onto his back, she wrapped her arms loosely around his neck and giggled. “I’m getting a piggyback ride there!”

He rolled his eyes. “You’re lucky I like you ‘Gome-chan.”

“Course you like me Sesshou! I’m so loveable…now lets go and torture the toad!!!”
