Chapter 22: Kagome's Voice

"Kagome…"

Kagome stopped on the spot when she heard Sesshoumaru called her name. She turned around to look at him slightly surprised, blinking she stared at him.

"I need to talk to you about Sakura…"

Kagome looked down the ground sadly for a moment before she nodded her head.

Sakura opened her eyes slowly and found herself staring at Xiaran, she frowned slightly and sat up but her body ached making her lay back down again wincing.

"You are injured by the Kaze no Kitzu…" Xiaran said softly. "Don't move…"

"Why are you doing here?" Sakura demanded rudely. "Get out, before I kill you!!!!"

"I came to take care of you, baka!!!!" Xiaran retorted slapping a wet wash clothe on her forehead. "Just lay still will you!"

Sakura remained silent and turned her gaze away from her. She didn't like the sight of her, though she didn't understand why. It must have got to do with the human feelings she had. She cursed inwardly, tomorrow she will be a full demon once and for all and this Sakura will no longer exist. Her thoughts were however interrupted when Naraku walked into the room.

"Leave Xiaran…" Naraku said shortly.

Sakura moved her eyes over to see Naraku who walked over to her and knelt down next to her. There wasn't any expression on his face as he stared at her. Sakura quirked her eyebrows slightly and wonderingly; what does he want now?

"You are not to go into battle with them until the full moon has passed…"

"You know you can't control me…" Sakura narrowed her eyes.

"It will be for your own good…" Naraku frowned at Sakura's curt reply.

"Even so, I will want to kill them with my own hands." Sakura said getting up to a sitting position turning to face him. "And you are not to interfere!"

Feeling himself boiling over her arrogant manner, Naraku grabbed both her shoulders and jerked her towards him; their faces only inches apart.

"If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't even appear Eviler!" Naraku said in a deadly and quietly voice. "If I wasn't there that time to save you from the Kaze No Kitzu, you will be dead by now!!!!"

"I didn't ask for your help!" Sakura said slapping his hands away from her. "Now leave me be, I want to rest!!!!"

Naraku watched her furiously as she lay down and turned her back towards him. Without anymore words said he stood up and left the room. Kagura was right about her all the time, she will not work with him easily. For now, he will just use her as a tool to bring Inuyasha and his friends down.

"We have no time to waste then!" Kagome cried. "Let's go!"

"You are not going without us Kagome-chan!" Sango said walking up with Kirara on her shoulder and Miroku next to her with Shippo in his hands.

"Where is Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.

"Still in the ground." Sango replied unconcernedly.

"Why do you say osuawri and Inuyasha slams to the ground?" Sesshoumaru asked curiously though his expression didn't give away anything.

"Well, Kaede-bachan put a rosary around his neck to bind him to a certain spell when he was trying to steal the Shikon No Tama, but the spell only applies to me when I say the subduing spell which is osuawri."

WHAMP!!!!

Everyone turned to see Inuyasha had already emerged from the trees behind them. Kagome quickly closed her mouth realizing what she had just done.

Sango and Miroku quickly swallowed their laughter as they watched Inuyasha looked up slightly his face caked with dirt glaring at Kagome.

"What was that for now?????" He yelled.

"Inuyasha!!!!" Kagome ran over to him and knelt down. "I'm so sorry; I didn't know you were there!"

"Right…" Inuyasha mumbled sarcastically.

"We have a plan to try get Sakura back!" Kagome smiled down at him trying to pry him off the ground.

Sakura sat up immediately when she felt the girl's presence; she frowned slightly and got up to her feet. She wasn't completely healed yet and she didn't expect them to come looking for her so quickly. Slowly getting out of the room she made her way out the palace to see the group she wasn't ready to meet yet.

"Never thought that I will be meeting you all this soon…" Sakura said when she stepped out the palace to see Sesshoumaru, Kagome and her friends.

"Sakura please listen to me!" Kagome ran forward to her.

Sakura frowned when Kagome called her by that name again. Immediately, snakes started to appear from her body as they slithered around her hissing dangerously.

"You never learn do you…?" Sakura said menacingly in a low voice.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha cried running after Kagome to get her away from her cousin. "It's dangerous to go near her! She could barely remember you!"

However, Sesshoumaru held his hand up to stop Inuyasha. Inuyasha turned to his half brother angrily and started yelling at him.

"Why the hell are you doing?"

Sesshoumaru remained silent as he continued to stare at both girls hoping that Kagome could be able to get Sakura's memories back. He remembered when Kagome yelled for her to stop fighting; she actually took heed to Kagome's voice.

Snakes started to shoot forward, and Kagome stopped running towards her cousin feeling slightly frightened but still she held her ground. Shutting her eyes tight not daring to look as the snakes rushed forward towards her, she waited for them to strike but to her surprised it didn't happen. Slowly opening her eyes again instead she saw those snakes had stopped only inches away from her. She blinked and looked over to Sakura and gasped.

"Sakura?" Kagome whispered walking slowly over to her.

She was on her knees both hands clutching her head. She looked up slowly to look at Kagome with hatred. Kagome's eyes widened when she saw those eyes were brown instead of green! Smiling slightly Kagome reached out towards her.

"Sakura…"

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!!" Sakura screamed shutting her eyes again.

Kagome stopped on the spot for a moment before she started walking over to her again.

"I say STAY AWAY!!!!" Sakura stood up and opening her eyes again and this time it was green as she lashed out one of her snakes towards Kagome. It strikes her right shoulder and Kagome sank to the ground.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha ran forward that pushing ignoring Sesshoumaru's orders to stay where he was supposed to. Jumping up towards Sakura he raised his arm and lashed his claws at Sakura.

It hit Sakura near her heart area as she staggered backwards blood starting to seep out her clothes. Glaring angrily at Inuyasha, another of her snakes dashed forwards towards him but using his claws he cut them into peaces in a second.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome yelled holding on to her bleeding shoulder as she stood up. "Stop!!! Please, trust me on this!"

Inuyasha frowned slightly but after that made no move to attack Sakura anymore.

Kagome turned back to her cousin and smiled weakly. Sakura took a stepped back from her.

"Sakura, do you remember when we were young?" Kagome started talking walking over to her. "How you always protected me from harm?"

Sakura remained silent as she took another step back.

"We were like sisters!" Kagome continued as she close the distance with her. "Even though we don't really stay together but we visit each other so often that it seemed like we do!"

"Shut up!" Sakura whispered backing away until she was now leaning on the palace wall.

"I always remembered how much everyone said we were like twins because we are so close…"

"SHUT UP!!!!" Sakura yelled again as she flew towards Kagome and put her hands around her neck.

A tear slid down Kagome's eyes. "When I heard that you were coming to stay with me, I was so happy!"

Sesshoumaru watched Sakura hesitating to kill Kagome, and his narrowed slightly.

Are human feelings this strong? He wondered as he watched the two girls. I still don't understand, the feelings I have for Sakura, are they human feelings which they always call love?

Suddenly Sakura's voice rang in his ears, `We humans are stronger than you think, we go through life even how difficult it is because we have a family who love us waiting for us at home…'

Something clicked in Sesshoumaru's head then, Sakura was lost when her whole family died. What she had hoped for was a place she could call home. She had hoped that he, Sesshoumaru would be able to provide that but when she saw Xiaran kissed him the other day, her hope vanished. All those time, when he felt he wanted her to be with him and always wanted to protect her, was the feeling of love. He had tried to deny it because he didn't believe that he would ever love, but this girl had shown him many things that he thought he would never learn.

"I guess now I understand…" Sesshoumaru whispered softly to himself.

Kagome stood limply on the spot staring at Sakura with a slight smile on her face as tears started pouring down her face.

"I was really happy, Sakura…" She whispered again. "I thought we will be able to stay together…"

Sakura body began to shake uncontrollably. Without warning suddenly, her body gave out a red glow and both Kagome and Sakura were consumed into the light.

"Kagome!!!!" Inuyasha shouted.

Sesshoumaru's eyes widened with shock when he saw that they both disappeared into the red light. When he and Inuyasha took a step forward they were stopped by a shield that had appeared suddenly and all they can do was to watch.

Slowly the glaring red light grow bigger and it exploded, the force was so huge it blasted Inuyasha away but Sesshoumaru managed to get away from the spot in a nick of time and landed safely not far off with Miroku and Sango who watched the scene with their mouth hanging opened. Inuyasha then dropped to the ground not far from them either. He got up quickly cursing out loud.

"What is happening?" Sango asked

"Look…" Miroku said pointing to the place where the glare had exploded.

The red light subsided slowly as two figures came back to sight gradually. They lay on the ground fortunately unharmed. They could see them moving on the spot. Kagome was the one who looked up first as she laid sprawl on the ground not far from Sakura. Not long later Sakura looked up gradually too, blinking and to everyone's surprised her eyes were brown though the rest of her body still look like the Cobra Demon.

"Kagome…" Sakura whispered.

"Sakura," Kagome smiled trying to crawl over to her cousin. "Yokata ne…"

Before Kagome could reach her, to everyone dismay, Naraku appeared then and took Sakura into his arm. The shock on Sakura's face could have made Sesshoumaru kill Naraku on the spot but he didn't move in case Naraku would harm Sakura if he did anything.

"Sakura!!!!" Kagome quickly get up to her feet reaching for her. "Let her go Naraku!!!!"

"I told everyone that Sakura belongs to me now…" Naraku said tightening his arm around her.

Sakura turned her head slightly to look at Naraku with fear as Naraku turned to face her, his expression slightly angered.

"I told you to stay away from them…" He whispered. "But you wouldn't listen…"

"Naraku…?" Sakura whispered frowning slightly trying to pry her way out of his arms.

Before anyone else could do anything else and to everyone's surprise Naraku crushed his lips onto hers. Sakura's eyes widened with shock and fear, with both her hands, she placed them on his shoulders pushing him away.

"IYAAAA!!!!" Sakura shouted as she turned her head away from his and when she managed to push him slightly away from her though his arms were still wrapped around her tightly.

Sesshoumaru clutched his hand into fists as his eyes slowly turned red with anger when he saw Naraku kissing Sakura that way. No one was allowed to kiss his Sakura that way.

"Damn you…" Sesshoumaru whispered.

Everyone turned to look at Sesshoumaru and took a step back with fright.

At that time, Kouga and his comrades came not long later. Kouga of course reached the palace first before anyone could. He skidded to a stop not far off when he saw a huge white dog, Inuyasha and Naraku with someone who looked like Sakura though she was of a different form in his arms. He frowned and ran forward towards them.

"What is going on?" He asked when he reached Kagome. "What happened to Sakura?"

"Kouga…" Kagome turned to him slightly surprised to see him. They were so engrossed with the fight nobody had sensed him appear. "It's a long story."

"Well, instead of standing and watch," They suddenly heard someone spoke behind them. "I'll occupy your time for a while…"

They turned on time to see Kagura swiping her fan at them. Kouga carrying Kagome up quickly moved away from harms way. They landed not far from Sango and Miroku who quickly got themselves into fighting position glaring at Kagura who smirked confidently at them. At that time, other Naraku's demons flew towards them.

Sesshoumaru couldn't attack Naraku as he wanted because Sakura was in his way. He had no intentions to hurt her as he stood in his demon form looking angrily at Naraku who was using Sakura as a shield. Sakura looked up at Sesshoumaru wearily and sadly. He knew what Sakura had in her mind. She wanted him to kill her if it was necessary to be able to kill Naraku, but he couldn't do it. He just can't.

Kikyo stood not far from the palace on top of a hill side looking down at the fight held in front of her. Her face void from all expression when she watched, Inuyasha and his half brother, trying to kill Naraku though couldn't because Sakura was in the way. Not far from them, Sango and Miroku were fighting off Naraku's demons and Kouga and Kagome was fighting with Kagura.

She turned back to Sakura who looked like she had regained her memories though she had not fully recovered back her human form. If she couldn't do it quickly, Sakura would have to remain a demon forever as Kikyo looked up the sky. The sun was setting and the moon was about to rise. Turning back to the group she took out her bow and arrow. She would strike when the time comes.

Ray: Looks like everyone's busy this time…

Kanna: I'm not…

Ray: (Jumped put of her seat and hid behind the chair) Kanna what are you doing here?

Kanna: Came to visit you for I have nothing to do…

Ray: Well, I give you something to do then…

Kanna: OK… (Walked away)

Ray: Phew!!!! (Got back on her seat)

Ray's thoughts: I wonder what Kanna can do besides taking others souls?
