Sorry mina, I took so long to post this chapter up. Well this coming week will be my final examinations and had been busy revising these few weeks. Well after end of this coming week I will be free ^_^. Which means I will have a lot more time to update all my fics!!!! For now, bare with me okies… so sorry to keep everyone waiting.

Before the story wanna thank Seiya, Lover_girl5.20 and Leonan for reviewing and liking my fic. And of course to those that read this fic but doesn't review.

On with the story….

Chapter 21: The Battle

"You will be dead if you continue to betray Naraku." Kagura whispered looking behind her where Xiaran sat looking down the scenery below with a vacant expression. "Do you understand?"

Xiaran remained silent and Kagura sighed.

She had no right to advice anyone. She wanted to escape herself, though it was impossible. Kagura had picked Xiaran up when Naraku had disappeared with Sakura. They flew up higher into the sky and disappeared from sight.

Kagome sat in a corner of Kaede's hut hugging her legs her chin resting on her knees, feeling sad and vacant when she thought about Sakura. The way she had looked at her when she called out to her. Those eyes were so cold, so distant and so different from Sakura as if Sakura had already vanished from this world. She was alone in the hut for everyone was outside trying to figure out a way to save Sakura and taking some fresh air at the same time after hearing such horrible news from Kikyo.

Not long later, Inuyasha entered the hut again carrying a bottle of water for Kagome. He stopped at the frame of the door for a moment when he saw the state Kagome was in. He hated to see Kagome upset and most of all, looking so frail. He walked over to her slowly and knelt down holding out the bottle to her.

"Here, have something to drink." Inuyasha said. "Miroku, Sango and Shippo had gone to the river to catch fishes for our dinner."

"Where is Sesshoumaru?" Kagome whispered.

"He is outside looking at the skies…" Inuyasha said bitterly.

"Could you call him for me?" Kagome continued her eyes staring off to nothingness.

"Why do you want to speak to him?" Inuyasha snapped. "It is not like he could understand you! He had no feelings for humans and he never could understand what love is! You think he could understand what you are feeling more than I can?"

"I just want to speak to him…" Kagome said softly burying her face on her arms. "Please…"

"Feh…" Inuyasha stood up angrily and stormed out the hut. "Girls, I can never understand them!!!!"

Sesshoumaru stood at the edge of the river near the bridge looking up the sky brightly lit by stars as he remembered how much Sakura loved to watch them. He then realized why Sakura liked them so much. They looked so peaceful and beautiful; making him relaxed even though he felt his heart was in torment. Was Sakura's heart always so sad? He had no idea, for she always looked very radiant and lively.

`We humans are stronger than you think…' Sakura's voice echoed in his head. He still remembered her words very clearly that morning they sat by the river talking about humans. `Love had always made us human go on with life no matter how difficult our life is…'

His thoughts were however interrupted when he heard an unwelcome and rude growl. He turned his head around slightly to see Inuyasha glaring at him. He frowned slightly.

"What do you what?" Sesshoumaru asked in his cold emotionless voice.

"Kagome wants to talk to you." Inuyasha said and turned away. "It's up to you whether if you want to go talk to her or not… she is however Sakura's only family now… I guess she wants to know what happened between you and her cousin."

Without answering him, Sesshoumaru head back to Kaede's hut. Inuyasha who didn't expect that to happen stare at Sesshoumaru with him mouth opened.

Sesshoumaru pushed the straw mat for a door aside and looked in to see Kagome cuddled in a corner looking at a small brown book like thing. But there weren't any pages on it. (Kagome's wallet) Sesshoumaru frowned slightly and walked over to her. Kagome didn't look up as she smiled softly still looking inside her wallet.

"You wanted to talk?" Sesshoumaru asked after a moment of silent passed as he looked down at her upon his nose.

"Sakura and I grow up together…" Kagome said softly not looking up from her wallet. "Even she lived in Nagoya and I live in Tokyo, we visit each other so often till it felt like we grew up together. She had always been protecting me… we play together… we made promises that we will never forget each other. Even she had won scholarship to study somewhere else far away from our country. We had a bond together that was never broken."

Sesshoumaru remained silent as Kagome told him her life with Sakura. Slowly he saw a tear glistering under Kagome's bottom eye lid.

"She promised me that she will never forget me even she is so far away." Kagome's voice quivered slightly now as she continued. "She will always be there to help me and protect me! I can always remember those times, like one time we were chase by a stray dog…"

Sesshoumaru quirked his delicate eyebrows slightly.

"No offence…" Kagome quickly added and continued. "She was so amazing; she stood in front of me protecting me from it! In the end she got bitten and had several stitches on her leg." Kagome smiled slightly at her memory. "All I know was how to cry; I wasn't even hurt and she could tell me not to cry even she had such a bad wound on her leg. The other time, a couple of older school boys came up to us trying to steal our money, Sakura kicked their butts really good and I could only stand and watch…"

Sesshoumaru saw the tear lingering on Kagome's bottom eyelid slide down her face and he clutched his hand. It hurts to hear her story, and he didn't know why.

"So, this why I wanted to talk to you!" Kagome stood up shouting at Sesshoumaru suddenly, dropping her wallet to the wooden floor both her hands clutching on his armor. "No matter what, you have to bring Sakura back!!! I don't know what happened between the both of you. But I know it had to do with you! It hurts, to see Sakura like this. Doesn't it hurt YOU? Sakura told me you CARED ABOUT HER!!!!! How could you… how could you…"

Her voice trailed off as she looked down the floor sobbing her forehead leaning lightly on Sesshoumaru's chess.

"Return her back to me…" Kagome cried her shoulders shook uncontrollably. "She is my bestfriend…"

With that she straightened herself glaring at Sesshoumaru with her tear streaked face before she dashed out the hut.

Sesshoumaru looked down the ground and saw the wallet Kagome had dropped on the ground. He knelt down to pick it up. There was a photo of Sakura and Kagome together. Both of their happy faces staring back at him.

So this is how Sakura looked like when she was with her cousin… Sesshoumaru thought. The protectiveness she had over Kagome was shown all over her face. It is just like the feeling of protectiveness I had for her… What those all these mean?

Sesshoumaru looked up from the photo when he felt a strange force in the Inuyasha forest. That force he felt in Sakura earlier. He frowned and stood up walking to the door and stepped out the hut. In the distance the sky had turned purplish red.

She is here… Sesshoumaru thought.

"You felt it too?" Inuyasha said walking over to Sesshoumaru.

"Is it Sakura?" Kagome asked looking up the sky.

"Yes, I have no doubt about this aura…" Miroku said frowning.

"Let's go," Sango cried jumping up on a transform Kirara. "The sooner the better, Kikyo told us yesterday we have only three days, which means we only have two days now."

"Sakura…" Kagome whispered looking up the purplish red sky in the distant.

Sakura stood on top of a cliff looking out for the group with her small evil smile on her face. Lighting flashed in the sky as she stood waiting for them. She knew that the first who would arrive at the destination was Sesshoumaru. Her interpretation was correct when she found herself looking down at a pair of emotionless golden eyes, which were staring back up at her.

"So you have come…" Sakura said with a smirked. "Let's test and see who is stronger now…"

Without warning, six red silhouette of cobra snakes appeared from her body as they flashed towards Sesshoumaru. He dodged away from it without difficulty as those snakes crashed to the ground making large holes on the earth.

"STOP!!!!" Kagome came to the scene then. She was riding behind Inuyasha as usual. "Sakura don't do this."

"I say never call me by that NAME!!!!" Sakura cried angrily as the red silhouette snakes dashed after her instead.

Inuyasha quickly dodged away from it and landed not far from Sesshoumaru. At that time, Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara arrived at the place.

"Damn her!" Inuyasha whispered putting Sakura down the ground. "Can't she even recognize her own family? She nearly killed us!"

Inuyasha unsheathe his Tetsaiga then pointing it out at Sakura but Sesshoumaru stepped in front of him.

"Don't use the Kaze no Kitzu…" Sesshoumaru said his back on him as he faced Sakura.

"And why not?" Inuyasha retorted.

"You will kill Sakura too!" Kagome pleaded. "Inuyasha please!!!!"

"Feh…" Inuyasha turned away from them rudely but put his Tetsaiga back to its sheath reluctantly. "I understand…"

"Stop showing me mercy!!!!" Sakura flew up into the air as and flashed down at them. "For I will not show you all any!!!!!"

Miroku took out his holy papers then and threw them at her forehead. However before it reached her it burned into flames.

"That can't be…" Miroku whispered slightly surprised.

"Your holy powers had no effect on me, houshi…" Sakura laughed cruelly as she dodge away at the same time when Sango threw her Hiraikutsu at her and she land gracefully on the ground not far from them. "Don't forget I may be a demon but I also have miko powers within myself. It is so convenient to have reincarnated to a priestess's daughter, don't you think?"

Sesshoumaru held his anger in when she said that, this Cobra Demon had reincarnated into Sakura and was taking control of her because of her negative feelings. It had happened immediately after she saw Xiaran kissing him. He understood now, Sakura hadn't really chosen to be the Demon; she had let her take over because she wanted to hide away from what she had thought was true. She had thought he wanted Xiaran instead of her.

"So that is how it works isn't it…" Sesshoumaru whispered advancing towards her.

Sakura titled her head slightly wonderingly what Sesshoumaru had meant.

"You took the opportunity when Sakura was at the weakest state."

Sakura frowned menacingly. "What the hell are you talking about?" She yelled as those red silhouette snakes attacked him again.

This time Sesshoumaru didn't dodge away as they slashed through his arms and legs. Without wincing nor showing any pain Sesshoumaru began to walk closer. Sakura backed away slightly looking slightly stunned and nervous. Blood was already sipping through his clothes dripping on the ground as the others watched horrified at the scene. Everyone having the same thought; what is Sesshoumaru doing?

"Don't come near me…" Sakura whispered backing away as those red silhouette snakes shot out after him again. She smiled spitefully watching him advancing her slowly as her snakes made more injuries for on him. "Sakura made her choice, if she didn't, I wouldn't emerge."

"I may not know her for a long time, even though I had known her for only a few weeks, I know Sakura wouldn't choose you." Sesshoumaru said softly.

"SHUT UP!!!!" Sakura yelled as she flew up into the air her right arm raised and her fingernails grew longer aiming them at Sesshoumaru's heart.

"STOP!!!!" Kagome screamed. "STOP!!!! SAKURAAAA!!!!"

She froze in mid air, only an inch away from Sesshoumaru, her whole body shaking. Everyone watched her anxiously as she seemed to be struggling with difficulty to move on her own. Sesshoumaru's expressionless eyes bored into hers and saw something that made his heart lift slightly. A flicker of brown for a moment before it turned reptile green again.

Sakura is fighting her… he thought.

"Stop it…" She land on the ground and kneel down holding her head with both her hands and she whispered to herself. "Don't interrupt with me…"

"Sakura…" Kagome advanced towards her slowly.

She looked up suddenly at Kagome her eyes flashing furiously. She stood up slowly and all of a sudden in lighting speed flashed over to Kagome, her snakes encircled her body and lifted her up into the air.

"How many times have I got to tell you not to use that name…" She whispered lowly and menacingly. "If it wasn't for these stupid human affections your cousin wouldn't even dream of contradicting me."

Sesshoumaru frowned slightly; human affections could affect the demon? Is it that strong? He wondered, not understanding.

"Kagome!!!!!" Inuyasha cried.

"Kagome-chan!!!" Sango shouted as she got her Hiraikutsu ready at position.

"Kagome-sama!!!!" Miroku shouted too, almost at the same time as Sango and Inuyasha.

Sakura turned to look at her friends with a small evil smile before she turned back to Kagome who was struggling from the snakes which seemed to be tightening their grasps around her.

"I will show her who is in demand…" She said at Kagome softly, raised her hand slowly with her sharp long nails. "From now on, we will see if you will still use that name…"

Everyone watched in horror when Sakura hand shot forward towards Kagome. Inuyasha who couldn't just stand watching anymore, unsheathed his Tetsaiga when nobody was paying attention to him. He told Kirara something and turned his attention back to them. Everything happened like it a split second, when Sakura sharp nails grazed over Kagome's left arm causing her sleeves to rip and tear scratching her skin of her arm in process drawing some blood. At that time Kirara, flew over to them and bit onto her snakes that encircled Kagome taking her by surprised she let go of Kagome and Kirara took her with him and flew into the sky. In a split second everyone heard Inuyasha yelled.

"KAZE NO KITZU!!!!!"

Sesshoumaru turned to his brother with outmost horror. As the wound of wind flashed after Sakura, he knew even with his speed he wouldn't be able to get Sakura out of the way as he watched the golden light consume Sakura.

"NOOOOOOO!!!!" In a daze Sesshoumaru heard Kagome's voice screaming in the air.

When the golden light faded, leaving long and deep scratch marks on the ground, they then saw a purple transparent globe where Sakura was standing. Inside the globe stood Naraku and carrying in his arms was a slightly wounded Sakura. She lay unconscious in his arms her arm hung limply out below her and her head lay on the curve of Naraku's neck. He looked down at her silently, before he turned his attention to the stunned group. The first thing he saw was Sesshoumaru clutching his hands into fists. He gave him a slow and spiteful smile.

"Sakura, now belong to me…" He said. "There is nothing, you all can do that will change that."

With that, he transformed into a purple whirlwind and disappeared into the sky. Kagome and Kirara land on the ground watching them vanished into thin air as tears began to appear in her eyes again. She turned to Inuyasha angrily.

"Inuyasha!!!!" Kagome shouted at him. "How can you do that? You almost kill her!"

"She almost killed you!" Inuyasha shouted back.

"NO, she didn't, if she wanted to she would have but she missed!!!!!" Kagome screamed her lungs out at him. "SHE MISSED!!!!! INUYASHA BAKA!!!!!!"

"THIS IS WHAT I GET TO HELP YOU?" Inuyasha yelled back. "KAGOME YOU B****!"

"OSUAWRIIIIIIIII!!!!!!" Kagome shouted.

Sesshoumaru frowned slightly watching Inuyasha slammed down on the ground mercilessly his body molded into the ground. He was thinking about Sakura at the moment; she stopped when her hands was about to plunged into his heart at that moment he saw Sakura's eyes flickered with her usual brown. She missed Kagome when she was about to do the same thing. Which means one thing, Sakura still had a little consciousness on what she was doing. If only they were able to bring her back but how?

"Of all things to do…" Sango said watching them as Shippo shook his head slowly.

"Inuyasha, doa'ho…" Shippo said softly.

"Well, he was only worried about Kagome…" Miroku said trying to defend poor Inuyasha.

"Damn you…" Inuyasha cried looking up from the ground. "How could you… I…"

"Osuawri!!!!!" Kagome said again before she stormed off.

"ECKKKK!!!!" Inuyasha cried as his face slammed down the ground making a bigger hole.

Sesshoumaru watched Kagome walked away alone and decided to follow her. He remembered, Kagome screamed for her to stop when she was attacking him. At that moment she froze, there must be something Kagome can do for her cousin before they were too late. There was only one more day to go.

Inuyasha: That Kagome, baka!!!! (Rubbing his head)

Ray: Don't move!!! (Trying to put some ointment on a lump on his forehead) If Naraku wasn't there, you would have nearly killed Sakura you know.

Inuyasha: Moh!!!!! Still I was just trying to help her…

Ray: I know you are worried, but sometimes you act before you think Inuyasha.

Inuyasha: Who said I was worried about her.

Kagome: What did you say?

Inuyasha sweat drop turned around to see Kagome standing behind him with her hands on her hips.

Ray: Of all things to say. (Shaking her head keeping the First Aid box away)

Sesshoumaru: You seemed very relaxed.

Ray: Eck!!!! (Turned to see Sesshoumaru leaning on the wall next to the cupboard)

Sesshoumaru: When will Sakura come back?

Ray: It will be up to you to see how strong you understand the word love…

Sesshoumaru: (Frowned) What does that got to do with this?

Ray: You have to find that out yourself.

Sesshoumaru: (Flex his claws at her) Wouldn't it be easier if you just tell me…

Ray: (Sweat drop and laughing uneasily)

At that moment…

Kagome: Osuawri!!!!!

WHAMP!!!!!

Sesshoumaru turned to look at the couple…

Ray ran when Sesshoumaru wasn't looking, grabbed her laptop and disappeared from the room.

Ray's thoughts: Close shave!!!!

Sesshoumaru turned back and realized Ray disappeared and frowned.

Sesshoumaru: Next time she won't get away so easily.

Hi mina!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter… Ah, the story is about to end… a few more chapters to go… I hope I will be able to post them up quickly… only one more day to get Sakura back!!!! Do you think they can make it? I wonder what have they got to do to get her back!!!!
