“Sesshomaru there is a messenger here from Naraku.”

 

The Lord of now most of the country looked up from the ancient scroll he was currently studying. His golden gaze pierced into his best friend's maroon eyes, “Send them away Kagura, you know I want nothing to do with that bastard.”

 

She walked from behind the door she was peering behind and closed the door behind her. Lifting her maroon and white colored kimono to walk faster she stopped abruptly in front of the desk and leaned over it. “Sesshomaru, I think you need to come see this messenger.” Her voice, usually calm, reserved and sometimes cold was strangely hurried and strained.

 

“Don't tell me that piece of shit did this again!” He shouted the walls of his office practically cowering in fear. With a nod of her head he stood slammed his fist into the desk breaking it in two and headed for the door.

 

“Sesshomaru, she's covered in the powder, if you thought I was bad……..you might not be able too………the sight of her………SHIT, Sesshomaru just be careful and don't lose your temper, you're not going to be pleased with what he has brought.”

 

He stopped as he reached the door as if contemplating her words, “Stay if you do not trust me to control my instinct.”

 

“Damnit that's not what I meant! Just don't go turning into a big ass dog and kill everything alright?!” She shouted, clutching her kimono in front of her now beating heart. He nodded before heading out down towards the main door of the castle. She followed only two steps behind.

 

`I can't believe that after all this time Naraku had not given up on his plot to bond himself to Sesshomaru. I'd been three years since he'd last tried, which had ended up in complete failure. Sesshomaru had been much stronger and in control of himself than what Naraku had anticipated. Naraku had sent his precious daughter to him covered in powder that was suppose to send any dog youkai into massive heat sessions, forcing them to mate with the closest female not mated, everyone knew that Sesshomaru only had male servants in his castle and was not known to take lovers. During their mating Kagura had been instructed to complete the bond by exchanging their blood, (an easy feat to do because his mind would be otherwise occupied). But instead when he saw her he simply instructed his men to take her back.

 

*****Flashback***

Kagura threw herself at his feet, “Please do not send me back to that monster. You may not want me but I can tell you what he seeks and how to destroy him, if you send me back he will only kill me.”

 

She took a chance and glanced up to look into his eyes and froze, the beautiful golden eyes pierced into where her heart should have been. `This can not be the Lord of the Western Lands Naraku spoke of; he is not unappealing, exotic if anything.'

 

He said nothing for moments that appeared to drag on for an eternity, her life hanging in the balance.

 

“Stay if you must. But if I discover that you are aiding Naraku I will kill you myself.” His voice although it sounded unresponsive, held more warmth than that of Naraku's and she was grateful to be freed of his grasps.

 

“I am grateful my Lord.”

 

She said as he walked back towards one of the large staircases. “Bathe promptly and destroy those clothes.” And then he was gone.

 

Of course that wasn't there last of their encounters, in fact slowly over time they managed to hold conversations, and then became friends. She had shared all that she knew about Naraku's plots and had helped him to take most of the country. Only the north, where Naraku resided, was not taken and that was soon to be rectified.

She collided into a warm wall and it was then she realized she had ran into the backside of Sesshomaru. There in front of the grand staircase as she had once been stood a little girl no older than 7, dressed in a plain ragged kimono, no shoes on her feet, brown hair un-brushed, eyes down and kneeling with a letter in pale bruised hand.

 

“Bring me the letter,” she heard faintly, nodding slightly she went towards the girl and took the envelope from her. The girl shook as her steps had neared her and now that she was next to her the smell of blood and another she was familiar with reached her nose. She fought the urge to vomit as she took the letter back to Sesshomaru.

 

Taking the letter he opened it at once with his claws.

 

Lord Sesshomaru,

 

I commend you on your recent conquest of the East, I am now aware that you are targeting my lands next. I do not wish to see so many of your men murdered so instead I offer you a gift. My daughter Rin stands before you, if you feel the need use her in anyway feel free. You might find that she is to your liking. You see Lord Sesshomaru a great deal went into finding this girl for you. Since Kagura, a powerful demoness, was not suitable for the great Lord Sesshomaru I had to take special care in finding the next gift for you.

 

It was rumored that your brother had chosen a human priestess as his mate, and your father too had taken a human so it seemed only fitting that you would desire one as well. The girl that stands before you has an uncanny resemblance to the wench of your brother, could it be there daughter?

 

Fear not Lord Sesshomaru, this girl is of no relation to you and was once a pure miko child; does this satisfy you to know this? Take this girl now as yours and bind my blood to yours and we can avoid a war that will only end in the destruction of your kingdom.

 

It was also rumored that the Great Lord didn't take pleasure in anyone…. so you see if you do not take my daughter now, perhaps I will find you a young boy that strikes your interest… I hear that your brother has a son….

 

I hope that my daughter Rin is pleasing to you……

Sesshomaru let out a snarl, not fully noticing that his claws were longer and his eyes had bled crimson during the reading of the letter. He didn't even notice that he no longer held the letter but instead was held by Kagura.

 

“TAKE HER FROM MY SIGHT!” He commanded and a toad quickly appeared and began making his way towards the girl.

 

“Come girl, back to your evil master you go!” the toad shouted in his nasal voice waving the staff around like he would strike at any moment. Instead of any fear though, the child sat where she was left not moving her eyes seemed devoid of life and light. “Are you defying me! Jaken the faithful servant of Lord Sesshomaru! Feel my wrat-

 

“STOP!”

 

Jaken froze in mid air looking back on the woman by his master who dared to raise her voice in front of his lord. She ran to stand between the girl and her lord. “Sesshomaru, you cannot allow Jaken to take her back to that monster, he will punish and torment her before he kills her. It was not her fault she was brought here……it was not her fault for being born and done wrong like this…..” Her voice died down, he power fading with her posture and memories she had willed away suddenly stood at her door.

 

“I did not say she had to leave Kagura, simply take her from my sight and find something suitable for her to wear.” He whispered only loud enough for her to hear, her heart clenched in her chest, `the girl may be human, but he still cares.'

 

Turning back to the girl she waved her hand at Jaken sending him spiraling towards the far wall, “Away with you Jaken you are no longer needed here I will take care of this girl.”

 

This sent the toad into a squawking retort when he was cut short by his master's foot. “Jaken you are finished here, leave.”

 

“Yes my lord.” He managed before running away clutching his staff of two heads.

 

Kagura stood before the girl who seemed like a zombie, a shell of the one pure child she once was. `Naraku, you bastard, your days are numbered.'

AN: Naraku calls Kagura and Rin his daughters because one: if Sesshomaru takes one then Naraku reaps the benefits by being the `dad' and two because he has a sick fascination by it. K?
