InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I love the cook, I mean to cook ❯ look alike ( Chapter 18 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Two days later after the snow incident, Inuyasha and Kagome hadn't spoke to each other out of fear of what they had said or better say what Kagome had told him. Her day off was over and it was time to return to the restaurant, even though she had been the one who let out so many terrible words Kagome felt such a soaring feeling on her inside. `I think I may have rushed this whole marrying issue… I mean, when I got here I just started dating Kouga and I hadn't gone out with anyone else since. Before I started working with Inuyasha the only thing I wanted was to get married but now… I only want to move the date. How can someone I met a few months ago make so unsure?' She wondered before entering to the restaurant, Kagome walked towards the kitchen and saw inside Inuyasha and for her surprise he was slicing onions.

“Don't you ever get tired of them?” she asked, making him turn around to look at her as he held a soft smile on his lips.

“I already told you, I love onions.” Kagome rolled her eyes and got her apron on. “It's just you and me today.”

“Really? How so?” Kagome asked as she tied up her long black her in a pony tail.

“Miroku asked Sess a free day, Hojo quit and Sesshomaru fired Yura for stealing some of the food… and Sango, I don't know… she said something about her brother's debut as an actor and that she couldn't miss it.” She nodded and let out a heavy sigh.

“So… it's just you and me today.” Inuyasha nodded before adding the onions to a pot with steaming water boiling in it.

“I doubt we get clients today anyways, Kagura's restaurant had a great review and people are making line to step inside that place.” Kagome nodded before washing her hands.

“Some people told me that food there is really bad, I wonder why they had given them such a nice review.” Inuyasha nodded, knowing the real reason their positive critic was coming to the light.

“Would like to have lunch with me? I mean, if Kouga doesn't mind.” He asked quickly changing the subject, Kagome smiled.

“Kouga is leaving to Tokyo today and I've never like to eat alone.” Inuyasha nodded again and placed his hands together.

“Okay, now that it's settled… let's arrange today's plates, you'll be working on soups, salads, and appetizers while I'll be working on main courses and desserts, clear?” Kagome wasn't happy about it but she simply nodded.

After that, they didn't speak to each other unless they really needed something the other one was using. Kagome didn't talk out of embarrassment of what happened the other day, she was still thinking Inuyasha was heart broken and his lame excuse of asking her to lunch with him was some sort of pathetic to her. `I shouldn't have agreed to this, I'm only going to crush even more his hope… I can't keep doing this to him; he really is something special… just like Sango said.' Kagome smiled to herself before keep on going with the delicious carrot cream she was preparing. On the other hand, Inuyasha hadn't said a word just because he was too focused on his plates. He considered every one of them as their master piece and just because he was such an arrogant man he considered the people who ate them very lucky. They were done with cooking although they were expecting more costumers Kagura had just taken them away, like Inuyasha had expected. Finally they reached lunch time and Kagome took off her apron but decided she could keep her pony tail, her magenta tank top hadn't stained and her perfectly fitted jeans neither. Kagome followed Inuyasha out of the kitchen to end up dazed.

“Hey darling, I thought that was you.” Kikyo greeted her boyfriend before giving him a short peck on the cheek. “You're Kagome, right?”

Kagome took a look at her and it didn't take her long to realize that she was wearing almost her exact same clothes, their shirt was of the same color and the jeans were almost identical. She couldn't even believe that Kikyo was also wearing her hair high up in a pony tail, they only trait that could break them apart was the fact that Kikyo had sun glasses a top of her head. Kikyo was still waiting for Kagome to answer her; she shook her head lightly and blinked a few times.

“Yes…” Kagome answered a bit perplexed, she looked back at Inuyasha and grabbed him by the arm. “May I talk to you for a second,” Kagome looked back at Kikyo and let out a nervous giggle. “I won't take long, I swear.”

Kikyo nodded with a sure smile on her face, Kagome smiled back before turning around and changing her sweet face into a sour one; she pulled Inuyasha back inside the kitchen and crossed her arms over her chest.

“What?” Inuyasha asked scared.

“You never told me she would join us.” Inuyasha let out a chuckle.

“I thought it wouldn't be necessary, I wanted you to meet her since… well, since I met her. I thought you wouldn't mind after all… I'm supposed to forget you and move on, right?” he asked with an arrogant smile on his face, Kagome faked a smile once again.

“Of course.” She let out before going out of the kitchen and returning to Kikyo. Kagome let out a small giggle just like before; then she let a smile slip her lips. “So… where are we going? I'm starving.”

Kagome sat next to Kikyo and she sat next to Inuyasha, the three of them eyed their menus looking for something that was described appetizingly. Kagome felt stupid about her previous thought, thinking that Inuyasha would like to be alone with her after what happened the last time they were together alone. `No one can be that stupid… everyone has their limit and I guess Inuyasha had just reached his… I shouldn't have been so stupid.' She bit her bottom lip as she kept on wandering her eyes on the menu, she sighed and scoffed. `Why am I calling myself stupid? This is what I wanted; this is what I hoped for… Inuyasha is moving on and is dating this… this Kio girl or whatever.' Kagome felt her cheeks redden. `Oh my god! This just can't be happening… I'm certainly not jealous! I'm supposed to get married in a few months. No, no, no… I'm just a bit confused; it must be because I'm hungry.'

“Are you ready to order?” the waiter asked and Kagome jumped a bit scared.

“Is something wrong?” Kikyo whispered sweetly, Kagome shook her head as she tried to breathe normally.

“Should I come back in a few minutes?” the waiter inquired.

“No.” Kikyo and Kagome answered at the same time, they looked at each other and smiled.

“Um… Kagome, why don't you go first?” Inuyasha suggested, Kagome nodded.

“Okay, um… I want mushroom pasta with chicken breast meat along with…”

“Alfredo sauce and white bread on the side?” Kikyo finished the sentence and Kagome laughed before nodding again. “Well, I want the same.”

“Very good… and for the gentleman?” the waiter asked as he wrote their orders down.

“I think I'll have… um, steak and onion rings.” Kagome rolled her eyes and smiled a bit, Inuyasha caught her smile.

“Alright, what will you have to drink?” the waiter looked at the ladies.

“Ice tea with a straw.” Kagome looked at Kikyo amazed and then looked back at Inuyasha who held their same expression on his face.

“I'll have a cold beer… I think I'll live if I don't have a straw.” The waiter let out a small chuckle before clearing his throat, nodding and walking away.

“It's unbelievable… I never thought someone liked the delicious Alfredo sauce as much as I do.” Kikyo said and Kagome laughed a bit.

“I know, it's really crazy… well, enough about um… us I guess.” Kikyo laughed a bit. “So… how are you two doing? I mean… you two seem very happy.”

“Yeah… I mean, first I wasn't sure about going out with him but Inuyasha did bother to convince me.” Kagome smiled a bit uncomfortable as Kikyo kissed Inuyasha. “So… do you have someone special in your life?”

“I do, actually I'm about to get married.” Kagome flashed the ring at her clone and she gasped in excitement.

“Oh my god! Congratulations! I hope you and him are very happy together… just like Inuyasha and I.” Kagome nodded before showing her smile for a millisecond.

Kikyo and Kagome kept on talking about their personal lives, Kikyo told her about the thrilling world of food reviewing. She commented her about the good aspects such as eating for free, traveling around, getting to know good and bad restaurants but most importantly how good was the service she received. Just like Kikyo had talked about her job, Kagome thought it was necessary to give her a brief introduction to the world of cuisine. Inuyasha could just gawk at the girls as they laughed and shared their experiences, he could have sworn they had met before and that they were just good friends sharing their days. When the food arrived, Kikyo and Kagome kept on chatting as Inuyasha just listened and devoured his onion rings along with his meat. After a long exhausting hour of listening how they gossip, he was more than ready to go back to work. Kagome and Kikyo laughed as they walked out of Inuyasha's car and walked inside followed by him.

“It was lovely to share lunch with you Kagome; I really didn't believe Inuyasha when he said that you're a great girl… after you broke up with him, he hasn't been more than a great guy.” Kagome looked at Inuyasha shocked but soon replaced her glare with a peaceful smile.

“At the time I just felt like killing him…” `And right now too!' Kagome thought with malice as her face still let a smile pronounce on her lips.

“Okay, I think I'll leave the two of you alone so you can go back to work… bye honey.” Kikyo placed a short kiss on his lips and just as soon as she left Kagome looked at him horrified.

“Look, it's just not what you think…” he started and she looked at him even more shocked.

“Oh? It's not?” Kagome yelled out of frustration and he nodded.

“You see… Kikyo asked me to tell her about my previous relationships and I hadn't dated someone more than one month. So you see I thought that if I mentioned you Kikyo will just think that I wouldn't have time to invite you out for dinner with us but then this showed up and… you know the rest.” Kagome rolled her eyes, she was filled with annoyance and she didn't just care anymore.

“Fine, I'll pretend to be your ex girlfriend… but just so I can let you know, I don't like this at all.” Kagome said, keeping her irritated face.

“I never expected less from you.” Inuyasha said against her ear before planting a soft kiss on her cheek and going towards the closet to grab his apron, Kagome blushed lightly before smiling.

“Wow.” Sango uttered once she was inside her brother's house.

She had spent so much time in the restaurant that she barely had time to visit her only brother. It wasn't like Kohaku had all of his free time devoted to his sister and he didn't have much of it either; being a model left him very few minutes to let him do what he liked. Kohaku offered his big sister to come back to his new house after his new tryout as an actor which Sango thought it wasn't that bad but he couldn't be compared with one of the best paid actors. Once she stepped a foot inside his house all she could do was keep her mouth open out of amazement, her brother's entrance hall was bigger than her whole apartment and his house couldn't match anything she had seen before. The walls had a pale orange along with blue strips on top of the wall, near the roof. Kohaku looked at his sister with a huge grin on his face; he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her inside to the kitchen. If Sango thought that her restaurant's kitchen was amazing, her brother's kitchen was just out of this world. His refrigerator was bigger than her bed and the amount of food inside it was more than enough to feed the whole population of her city. Kohaku got tired of his sister glaring at everything as some sort of alien who just arrived at earth so he snapped his fingers in front of her face to make her react, Sango looked back at him and giggled a bit nervous.

“So, do you feel hungry?” Sango rolled her eyes and rolled up her sleeves.

“Okay, what do you want me to cook for you?” Kohaku laughed a bit and shook his head; he walked next to her and grabbed her by the shoulders as he pulled her down to the nearest seat.

“Why do you always have to misunderstand me, sis? How about this time I cook for you?” Sango placed her hand on her forehead and faked a gasp.

“Oh! Is the great and oh so hot model Kohaku going to cook for me? Please! Someone grab because I'm afraid I may faint in front of this complete male stud!” Kohaku rolled his eyes and Sango laughed, he shook his head once again.

“You're going to be so envious after this… Hiten!” Kohaku yelled and soon a man appeared.

Sango was more shocked at the features of this gorgeous man that had just walked inside the room. He had the longest, darker and precious hair she had ever seen a man wear. His eyes were of a beautiful dark blue that were almost battling just so they didn't become black. But what Sango liked the most was his face in general, that perfectly thin nose, the way his lips moistened whenever his tongue touched them, his godly natural tan above his skin and that killer smile that could make any girl faint at its sight. `Now I do need someone to grab me…' Sango thought as she pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear and smiled before locking her eyes with his. Hiten had also been able to recognize the beauty that irradiated from the raven haired beauty across the room, he ignored Kohaku as he walked towards Sango holding his best smile on his face.

“Hi I'm Hiten; it's a pleasure to meet you.” Hiten said as he stretch his hand towards Sango, she looked at it for a moment before giving him a flirtatious smile and offering her hand.

“I'm… Sango.” She answered with a bit of hesitation, Hiten kissed her hand softly before realizing it and they heard Kohaku yawn.

“Boring, listen man… my sister and I are hungry, if you don't mind would you prepare for us some lamb chops with fried potatoes?” Hiten nodded as he kept his eyes focused on Sango. “Great and… since you two are drooling for each other I'll leave you alone for a moment.”

They waited till Kohaku was out of the room before Hiten started pulling out ingredients out of the giant fridge, Sango got off of her seat and walked towards him. Hiten hid his smile for a moment as he felt Sango's eyes on him. He turned on the stove and placed a pot on it, Sango let out a small giggle. Hiten looked at her curiously as she walked back to her chair.

“What's so funny?” He finally dared to ask Sango shook hear head.

“Oh, nothing… maybe the fact that you're boiling water when you're preparing fried potatoes and lamb chops.” Hiten arched his brow and chuckled.

“Are you a professional chef or something?” he asked mockingly, Sango laughed out loud for moment before her laugh dried up.

“Yes, actually I work in a restaurant cooking fine and delicious plates… unlike you who works for my younger sibling.” It was Hiten's turn to laugh.

“I'm his friend… he and I agreed that whenever he felt hungry I would make him dinner but he should introduce me to the hottest girl he met, thankfully that girl is his sister.” Sango blushed before turning around and hearing how he snapped the knife against the wooden board. “What are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Tomorrow?” she asked perplexed and nodded. “Well, I was thinking I could work… my work ends at midnight unless you want to wait for me I could…”

“Great, so at midnight tomorrow… it'll be your Cinderella night, I'll treat you like the princess you are.” Sango smiled and blushed furiously before her brother came in again.

“Now that you two are done kissing, where's my food?” Kohaku asked before sitting on the table and wait for his lamb chops.

It was midnight already and it was time for Kagome to go back to her apartment, she was happy but also melancholic. That time now meant more time to spend alone while she waited for Kouga to return. He had talked to her about the wedding and they agreed that she would buy her dress and hide it till the day of their marriage; she was able to pick the tablecloth colors and the design of their invitations. Kagome decided that it would be better for her to do all that stuff during the weekend, since she could ask her friends some help and try to have a nice time with them. Inuyasha, on the other hand, wanted to go home; it had been two straight days that he hadn't slept at home since his time with Kikyo was too little he some times made it up to her by staying up late talking to her until he finally fell asleep on her couch and she always covered him with a blanket.

“I think we should leave our lazy coworkers to wash the dishes tomorrow… right?” Kagome said as she pulled off her apron once again, Inuyasha smiled lightly.

“Yeah… Sess isn't paying them to take the day off.” Inuyasha said before taking his apron off and throwing it inside a closet. “So… I've been thinking, when we were out for lunch with Kikyo you seemed sort of disappointed and I thought that maybe I could make it up to you by taking you to the movies or any other thing you would like to do.”

“I… I think I could.” Inuyasha let his smile get wider and Kagome blushed lightly.

The two of them walked to the restaurant so they could go and have something like a date but then Kagome saw Kikyo outside and she knew that she would be going alone to her house. Kikyo smiled at both of them and quickly approached to Inuyasha and kissed his lips sweetly before kissing Kagome's cheek.

“Hey you two, I hope you don't mind Kagome if I kidnap my boyfriend… I have a great night planned.” Kikyo said proudly and Inuyasha nodded before grabbing her by the arm slowly.

“Can I talk to you for a moment?” Inuyasha whispered against her ear, she nodded and Inuyasha pulled her outside. “Um… I was thinking that maybe we could leave this for tomorrow night. I'm very tired; I've been staying at your house for a few nights and…”

“If you want to spend time with her… I don't mind.” Kikyo suddenly whispered and he looked at her shocked but soon he shook his head.

“No! That's not what I meant at all!” Kikyo let a saddened smile flash on her lips.

“It's okay Inuyasha… she's about to get married though and… well; I don't think it's appropriate. But I'm not your mother so do what you feel like, I'm going inside and if you feel like coming with me I'll be more than happy but if you want to go with her… I'll just plaster a smile on my lips and go back home.”

Inuyasha glared at her as she walked back inside the restaurant, he looked up to the starry night and felt a small droplet of water falling on his face; he smiled before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He knew Kikyo had a good point, just like everyone else that told him to get away from Kagome. `But I still want her… she's everything I've ever hoped for. Is it so bad to desire someone even when I know I can't have her?' he dared to ask himself before letting out a heavy sigh. Inuyasha thought that Kagome wasn't his responsibility and that he could start taking care of his own relationship, he pushed the door open and saw her as radiant as she could look in her magenta t-shirt. Inuyasha harshly turned her around and soon crashed his lips against hers, he had his eyes tightly closed as he made his lips collapse and made his way to touch her velvet tongue; he had never felt so alive by kissing her, maybe it was the way he had managed to push Kagome away and had finally been able to fully give himself to Kikyo. After a long, vivid and passionate kiss he decided to open his eyes just to remain completely dazed.

“I don't think that was on my `to do' list.” Kagome said awkwardly.
