InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I Need A Vacation ❯ Reality's A Bitch ( Chapter 7 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

She couldn't believe what had followed the incredibly awful silence after those words said by her father, the sudden awkward words said by Yuka's mother which had cut into it so cleanly. “W-well...I'm sure Yuka's fine so--” she had said in a tone of finality which made it clear she intended on leaving. Kagome's mother didn't even look at her.

“...no...I'll help you find her...” she had returned quietly, looking somewhat distracted. Immediately after the group split up into search parties. Yuka's mother and Kagome's in one, both the fathers in the other, and Kagome and Inuyasha in the third.

Kagome continued walking down the hall along side Inuyasha deep in thought about the words that had been said moments before. There were certain lines that repeated over and over in her mind and heart and caused them to ache slightly. Then there were the more comforting words...the words that tried to fill her mind and push away the confusing, painful ones... “he said I was his son.”

“Are you alright?” Inuyasha asked, looking extremely solemn. Kagome sighed, feeling her anxiety and shallow breaths no longer hindering her. The inability to keep secrets from Inuyasha any longer allowed her feelings to begin to lessen in their intensity, as she no longer had to hide them.

“No...Mom left Dad--I-it was SO obvious...how could I see it? And she really hurt dad--but it only poses more questions--why did she get so upset if it was her that harmed him...and why did she leave him--why?” Inuyasha studied her a long while as they walked unsure of how to reply for some time.

“...at least they found each other again maybe things will--”

“No they won't work out...' Kagome moaned softly, “...it seems that things have only gotten worse ever since they met again...” There was another sorrowful pause as they walked farther down the hall.

“...and now your mother knows about us...” Kagome's eyes flashed onto him as fast as lightening. She thought a moment.

“Must you cause Kagome's child to feel the same pain as ours?”

“You don't think she--”

“I'm betting she did,” Inuyasha returned looking very somber, “how could she not know by the way he called me his son...and how he talked about your child... “ a small laugh weak laugh escaped him, “who would have thought...I finally got parents--then they have to be at each others throats when I finally realize I get them...”

“Huh, guess we're sort of going through the same thing then...only all the sixteen years I've known mom she's never acted like this...and I can't understand exactly what's been going on with her lately. I know Dad returning must be hard on her--but she seemed different before too... why was I too self absorbed to notice, Inuyasha?” she inquired, her said, shimmering eyes looking up at him, pleading for some guidance as they both stopped walking.

“I don't know...but I do know everything will turn out fine--and the sooner we find Sota the better. We don't need additional chaos, do we?” Kagome got to her tiptoes and kissed him gently, feeling her eyes becoming more and more hot with tears. When they broke away he leaned close to her and pressed his cheek against hers, “It's going to be okay...trust me...”

“Mmm-hmm...” she returned softly, still feeling very uncertain about the future. She touched her hands to her stomach as she leaned away, “and the baby will be okay too...if there's a baby...” she added quietly with a slight smile. Inuyasha grinned happily.

“Right,” he replied, and nicked her chin delicately with the tips of his fingers .He abruptly dove into her, kissing her with what started as a rough passion but soon transformed into a tender loving care. His hands placed themselves on hers, which still remained on her stomach, and them smoothed over her fingers and onto her blouse, feeling the warmth of her stomach. His smile widened at the thought of a baby growing on the inside. His baby.

Wait...do I wanther to be pregnant? he thought quickly.

Another groan filled the dense air around them and Sota wondered how long he'd be able to cling onto his sanity that he could feel running thin under his mental fingertips.... Just a little longer...someone'll come soon....to get me out of here.

“God I am SO BORED....Sota, do you have any food on you?”

“No.”

“Cards?”

“No.”

“ANYTHING?”

“No.”

There was a silence.

“Are you sure?”

“YES!”

“Ha! I finally got you to say something other than 'no', that's all you've been saying this WHOOOLE time!” This time Sota groaned. He couldn't take it much longer. “Oh my god, you're SO boring I mean, OBVIOUSLY we don't have much longer to live, so the LEAST you can do is tell me all your secrets before we both die.”

There was yet another quiet, but for the first time Sota was actually considering what Yuka was saying. It was likely that the both of them WOULD die, so it made sense to share each others deepest, darkest secrets before they croaked... Only...what if they WERE being held for ransom? Then someone would know all his secrets--and they'd be alive!

“A secret like whose your deepest crush? Or have you ever looked at any indecent material...or...” she said the word “or” in a way that clearly indicated she was plotting, Sota let out a very loud sigh, “...tell me ALL you know about Inuyasha and Kagome.” He sighed again.

“What's there to tell? Inuyasha and Kagome probably like each other but neither have confessed anything—I'm not sure why though, I told Hitomi--my girlfriend--how I felt a LONG time ago, but according to Inuyasha he and Kagome would never say things like that to each other, I still think they like each other though, I guess its a secret or something...”

“Hmm, that's not the story I heard at all. I heard Inuyasha's been her boyfriend for a long while. Also that he's jealous and possessive. But he's not all that bad. I can tell he genuinely cares for Kagome, and that he's a good guy--but still...I can't BELIEVE she had sex with him!” Yuka exclaimed more to herself than anything else.

“Huh? What's sex?” Sota inquired. Yuka jolted as if she just then realized that he was there. Before she could answer however, both heard a sound. The two began to feel a great feeling of excitement at this particular noise—a door opening, but then they both came to the conclusion that it could be their kidnapper, and fear struck their hearts. And there were right to be afraid, their suspicions were correct. Their kidnapper—or rather kidnappers, stood before them, silhouetted against the bright light flooding in from the now open doorway.

“It's where babies come from, kid,” returned one of them. There was a short silence as the two squinted through the light, in an attempt to better see their captors. Sota was surprised and startled when he heard an angry voice coming from the chair next to him.

“How DARE you defile Sota's nine-year-old mind,” Sota's eyes widened, did she WANT to die? “after you had me tied up for god knows how long putting up with him! Kagome's SO going to blame me now, thanks a WHOLE lot!” Yuka scolded, Sota suddenly forgot his strong fright all together.

“WHAT?” he exclaimed in protest. “How can you complain? I'm the one whose been going insane thanks to you!” The men at the door all laughed causing Yuka and Sota to fall silent as they had forgotten they were even there.

“You two are unnervingly calm. Remarkable, simply remarkable!” one said.

“Annoying, but I guess remarkable,” another returned.

“Who the hell ARE you?' Yuka demanded to Sota's horror now that he could see how big a few of them were. Most of them laughed in response, which somehow made Yuka, feel sickened. Not afraid at all, they did not seem like the type that would kill her or Sota, or even harm them whatsoever. Yet something was somewhat foreboding here, even at the entirely normal manner about the men, she felt as if a bad omen was settling all around her...

“It's pretty inconvenient...couldn't you at least cry? Scream...a bit...more?”

“What? You sicko! Do you get pleasure out of other people's suffering?!” All the men laughed in unison.

“Did you get that on there Gabe? That was good, really good, we could really use that.”

“Yep got it!” said a figure behind the men that Yuka realized with a bout of confusion, had a camera. And not just any camera. A really, really enormous camera. He pointed it at Sota and Yuka who squinted looking very disoriented.

“It was getting so boring it wasn't worth keeping you two cooped up. We might want drama but we're not totally cruel, eh Laura?”

“You ARE cruel,” snapped a female voice. At that moment Yuka and Sota caught sight of a red haired women who then strolled in. Something about her set them both at ease, though just moments before rage and fear had clung to their hearts so persistently, ”Hi, kids, will ya forgive us if we get you some treats?” she inquired as she came inside further and revealed the contents of the room by switching on the lights. It resembled that of a studio of some sort, several tables with plenty of tasty food sat upon them and a myriad of other things that neither captives recognized on different shelves... The most abundant thing inside were televisions, it looked to the both of them to be a security center As if the televisions were the sort of monitors that depicted what security camera's were taping around the hotel. So was that it? Had they been busted by the hotel security? But why were they all acting so...cheerful about the entire thing? “What do you guys like?” inquired Laura with a bright smile. At the chorus of the males' laughter, the woman brightened with realization and laughed herself, “oops, still tied up aren't you...”

“Wait! Before you do that, make sure they're calm...” Gabe warned, peering out from behind his camera. “Even if there some danger this way--I like to get some professional shots...all these automated cameras make me dizzy...” Yuka suddenly felt as if she was about to vomit.

“W-w-wait...you make it sound as if...as if--you're filming like--a documentary or something!” Yuka exclaimed her hands flying to her dark hair is a truly panicked manner, Sota was certain she was far more frantic about her hair now than her life when they had been thrown into sacks some hours before. He looked wide-eyed once more.

“W-what?” he yelped. “What's a documentary? And what does he mean by 'where babies come from' I'm so confused!!!” he screamed loudly.

“See what I mean...not quite calm...” Gabe murmured, shaking his head as if it to scold the woman.

“Shut up Gabe, capture all the drama—don't talk over it, idiot,” a dark haired man exclaimed, his hands into such tight fists his knuckles were turning white.

“Do you guys want me to take notes for future plot writing?” the first man asked holding up a note pad enthusiastically.

“W-w-wait-plot writing? Wh-what's going on? What kind of sickos—” Yuka sputtered, the pleasant woman leaned in untying her with a bright smile. The men all looked at each other uneasily, finding the calm the Laura was causing Yuka highly annoying--not only that but their pay checks were riding on how much good footage they got. Unfortunately, they had reason to feel somewhat alarmed, that smile had caused Yuka to feel all her complaint and anxiety evaporating.

“No, don't untie her—and get away—she's going to scream—we're trying to get that!!” Phil whined, Laura glared at him momentarily.

“I swear--” she began haughtily.

“Ooh—temper I see...” one of the men laughed, egging the red head on, causing her frown to deepen.

“WHERE THE HELL ARE WE?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Sota who had finally snapped under the pressure the confusion and confinement had been putting on him. There was a silence as everyone stared at him. Sota almost smiled at the reaction finding a contentment after he had let out all the anxiety, they were stunned. He had never done that before!

“Did you get it?” a man named Phil asked quietly with a bright smile.

“Yep,” Gabe replied with a pleased grin as he cut the shot. He turned the camera down slightly adjusting it further. Yuka and Sota both stared in pure bewilderment, Sota was as still as a statue but Yuka still managed to continue straightening her hair just in case.

“Alright...lights, camera, action!”

“Rolling..”

Phil laughed casually flashing his pearl white smile to everyone. He then strolled over to Yuka and Sota, motioning for Laura to get out of the way as he turned to face the camera.

“Hi, I'm Phil Jackson, your host and your watching, Vacation Gone Wrong.”

“WHAT?”

“So the troubled youngsters finally learn of their predicament...”

“WHAT?”

“...and finally have cracked. Let's see how the others are doing...”

WHAT?!! HOWDARE YOU!!” Yuka screamed, standing up now that her ropes had been loosened. She leapt for Phil who was now motioning to the monitors near by which depicted random portions of the hotel with a rather cheesy grin on his face as he looked to the camera. But Yuka could see there was true joy in that grin. Joy at her expense.

“They begin to feel the anxiety get to them and find themselves unable to deal with it in another way but screaming ballistically. The poor girl Yuka dramatically lashes out. A noble protest for her friend's dignity.”

“How do you know my name?” she demanded sharply, walking toward him. But Phil went on as if his words were scripted and as if he hadn't heard a word the Japanese teenage girl had said.

“The tension rises as the two begin to fathom exactly what they're in for...”

“Hey, I'm talking to you!” Yuka bellowed still approaching with a deathly wrath.

“But will greed and the darker side of human nature prevail over loyalty and moral?”

“Hello!”

“Find out when--”

“HOWCOULD YOU!!!?”

“Yes Yuka, I see that you are upset,” he returned in a sickeningly commercial manner, eyeing the screen as he said so, “do you feel the deception of America and society filling your body with anger? Do you feel exploited for the world's entertainment?”

“HOW COULD YOU NOT LET ME FIX MY HAIR AND MAKE UP FIRST! God! I can't believe I'm on TV and I look a mess!” At that moment Sota lost all faith that remained whatsoever that he had in the girl. “So awesome though! Hi Mom! Hi dad! Hi here, don't worry about me! Hey, I'd like to have a shout out to my Grandma, and oh yeah, Arimi YOU said I'd never make it on TV well HERE I AM GIRL!! HERE I AM!!”

“CUT!!!” screamed Phil clawing at his hair as if he'd pull it out.

“Dammit, where's the drama...the...the anger—” began one of the men.

“Nah, it works, shows the corruption of today's youth...” the dark haired one chimed looking as if he was swelling with pride.

“Can you guys stop for one moment? Change to the others already, I'm sure these two could use a break...” Laura murmured worriedly eyeing a rather horrified and perplexed nine year old behind her who seemed on the brink of becoming perfectly cationic.

“NO!! PUT ME BACK ON TV!! I WANNA BE BACK ON TV!!” Yuka squealed. Sota sighed putting his hand to his forehead in an aggravated manner. He wondered how he was still capable of over-estimating the girl, it seemed every word that came out of her mouth was further proof of the extant of her shallowness, selfishness, and how utterly obnoxious she could be.

“Calm down, aren't you hungry at all? There's plenty of food—” Laura began gently.

“NO!” screamed Yuka as if it was the most frightening suggestion. This outburst caused Laura to be quite taken aback and the men in the room to become muddled in a sea of guffaws, “you look ten pounds heavier on the camera—haven't you heard? I'm not eating any of those donuts, cookies, chips, or fried foods! I've never dieted in my life—but then again I've never been on TV before!” Sota almost fell off his chair. Yuka suddenly turned to him, “Are you alright, Sota?”

He seemed to be entering a psychologically impaired phase, “Mmnnnhhyyyah...” was his only vacant and frightened squeak of a reply. Yuka sighed ever so exasperatedly, her whole body slumping as if the more she looked at Sota, the more tired and irritated she became. She rolled her eyes so exaggeratedly, the pupils became lost, turning into her head while she did so.

“I THOUGHT you'd be happy that we were on TV, I mean come on, Sota! Live a little! Geez Louise! These men may have captured us against our will and may have made complete idiots of us, but we get to be on TV!!” she squeaked, sighing dreamily, “that is SO worth it! I mean, what's there to be upset about? So we were locked in a dark room, tied up for a few hours with no explanation, no consoling, no warning, not even any games to play or any captors to interrogate--but we get to be on TV!” She began to fall into a happy stupor and looked as if she was fantasizing, she finally snapped out of it as the others stared, awed, “Oh yeah, plus you know that babies come from...shall we say...two naked people pushing their private parts together in bed. But still we get to be on TV! I think we can forget all the minor negative details.”

“They DO?”

“Huh?”

“Babies come from...from...from...” his face seemed contorted with the utmost disgust and horror, “...oh god what has this world come too?” There was a very long silence.

“Cut! Did you get that, please tell me you got that!” one of the men demanded. Laura sighed and rolled her eyes, not quite as exaggerated as Yuka did, however.

“Of course!” Gabe beamed patting his camera as if it were a son rather than a piece of equipment.

“Who CARES about him!” Yuka shrieked, “I want to be on TV! Did you know I can yodel?”

Needless to say, Yuka was perfectly ignored.

“So Sota, how do you feel, knowing that in order for you to exist, your parents had to get naked and your mother had to—”

"That's QUITE enough!” Laura exclaimed, moving Phil away from Sota. “Why don't we check our footage around the hotel, how about the camera following Inuyasha and Kagome? They were being chased by those cooks and bell boys, I'm betting we got some funny and exciting footage from that.” All the men grumbled disapprovingly amongst themselves about this. “Come on!” she cried.

They all finally consented and began to crowd around the Inuyasha and Kagome monitor. “We hooked this up so that it would automatically switch to the camera in which identified the two people Kagome and Inuyasha, the latest technology with identifying capabilities. Pretty cool, isn't it Sota?” Laura beamed as she sat next to the nine year old by the monitor. In response could only stare vacantly into space with no verbal reply. “Um...please cheer up, ignore the guys, they're jerks.”

“Hey!”

“You ARE,” she lashed back with a frown, she smiled again, consolingly at Sota, “Come on, you'll laugh, you can watch your sister and that Inuyasha act funny. At least you'll be able to watch the chase.” Silence. “Don't you want to see if they made it?” There was suddenly a flicker of life from Sota.

“Yes!” he said immediately. A slow smile came to Laura.

“Alright.”

“I for one don't CARE,” Yuka bellowed, crossing her arms in a vexed manner. “They abandoned us and let us be kidnapped!” She paused, “well because of that were we on TV and all--but still! They didn't KNOW that!”

“Oh, they had no idea about the kidnapping,” Phil said, taking a bit out of a leg of fried chicken from the snack table , “we had been planning to kidnap you from the start. After getting some information about you all, we learned that Inuyasha couldn't resist the luring smell of food and doing something to make Kagome scream at him, Yuka couldn't resist ticking Kagome off and doing something stupid, and Sota loved pinecones, so we combined lots of smells to lure you all into the kitchen. It all worked perfectly. We also knew that you two would take the left door instead of the exit because we put the “EXIT” sign on the door and you both are hopelessly obvious.”

“I'm not obvious!” they both cried at once.

“Sure you are, you—”

“Never mind,” Laura cut in crossly as she pushed the tape into the built in VCR and pressed the rewind button, “alright, we'll rewind it to 22:04:55.”

“How does she know that?” Yuka breathed in amazement.

“Because she's not you.” Yuka glared at Sota for a VERY long time.

“Here we are, now, play!” Laura chimed pressing the triangle-shaped button on the controller. Inuyasha and Kagome could be seen clearly exiting the kitchen into the hall, a large amount of thoroughly drenched cooks and bellboys in their pursuit. Suddenly, the view cut to another camera as they entered another portion of the hall, near the elevators. All feeling just as perplexed as Inuyasha at Kagome's cheeriness, they all felt the suspense as the bell boys and cooks drew nearer and nearer and the elevators still had yet to come to them after they had pressed the button.

“This is pretty good,” one of the men commented though he had disagreed earlier with the entire idea. Everyone's eyes were glued to the screen. Everyone's eyes, in exception of two people. Laura was one, whom was studying Sota, hoping something could at least cheer him up. Yet, every once in a while she checked the screen knowing that whether the two made it out or not would decide his happiness. He was a good boy, and as far as she could tell he genuinely cared about his friends and family. Yuka was the other exception who wasn't looking at the screen at the time and instead decided to enter into a pouty huff. Finally, as the excitement began to rise in the room at the narrow chase, she gave in and consented her eyes to travel to the screen.

Both the hanyou (yet only one of the people in the room knew him as such) and the high school girl finally ended their wait for the elevator. Inuyasha finally fled with Kagome still on his back, as he realized the situation had become quite dire, the bellboys and cooks unyielding in their vehement pursuit and the elevators in their agonizing absence. Each an everyone of the audience watched on with faces of deep interest and anxiety as the two scrambled around the corner and the door of the janitor's closet came into view on the screen.

“Oh shit!” sighed Phil loudly, “They're going to go into there and they will ruin our chances--we need to document everything that happens! What if they explode entirely from the anxiety, we'll miss the dramatic reaction!” All the man watched becoming far tenser than before, when the two on the screen clambered into the janitor's closet, as the majority of the audience broke into groaning and whining in a very disappointed and loud manner. Laura paused the video, frowning intensely at all of them.

“Be quiet, who cares if we don't see them hiding, I don't see how that will affect the show very much.”

“It could,” Gabe argued, having had more experience in the reality show business than any of them, “for all we know that Kagome could totally lose it and stop laughing at the like she had been--which seems insane enough to me as it is--and rather break into hysteric sobs...it's bound to happen. Usually reality shows cause emotions to run high, even if they don't KNOW their being filmed--sometimes there can be a subconscious sense that—”

“Alright that's enough,” Laura cut in, finding she had to say the phrase more and more, “let's just watch.” As she pressed play the scene suddenly cut and all the men erupted into an uproarious cheering when the inside of the janitor's closet could be seen. Laura rolled her eyes another time at their ridiculous behavior, but she soon returned her gaze to the screen. a sigh of great relief could be clearly heard from Inuyasha which brought down the hopes of the men considerably, but caused Sota and Laura to feel much better than they previously had. Unbeknownst to them relief wouldn't be NEARLY all that they would see depicted on that screen...

Everyone jolted when a loud thumping noise sounded from the monitor's speakers due to Kagome seemingly attacking Inuyasha and slamming him into the closed door behind him. It didn't take long for grins to appear on almost every face in that room. Everyone. Except Sota. Who didn't seem to have looked more surprised than he ever had his life. Or more perplexed. “Damn...why can't I have a boyfriend to kiss?” Yuka whined, as they all watched Kagome do just that with Inuyasha for several moments.

But when she tore open the robe he was wearing and pressed her lips greedily onto his chest, Laura made the move to stop the tape all together. She froze unsure for a moment until Kagome's lips fell over Inuyasha's nipple and he began moaning—well that was obviously her queue to turn the thing off before Sota was scarred for life. All the men hollered in objection, but their shouts were over-powered by Yuka's after a moment.

“I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!” she screamed looking perfectly betrayed and vicious. “I KNEW they were--”

“Shh!!” Laura hissed loudly, motioning toward Sota who resembled that of someone on the brink of death.

“Look, there was no proof whatsoever that they were going to have sex,” Phil began conversationally and in a way that suggested that he was the only one being reasonable about the situation. All the other men looked perfectly vexed at Laura, men aren't too keen to be interrupted when beginning to get sexually aroused. “They were only kissing, no hard—I mean harm done.” The expression on Laura's face in his direction was so frightening Phil resembled a small whimpering puppy with its tail between its legs.

“No...” whispered Sota in a purely horrified manner, “they weren't...” suddenly life rushed into him out of the depths of his vacant air as he turned to Laura and looked directly at her. “…they couldn't!” She looked down at him in a guilty manner, she had intended for the tape to make him feel better not worse... “It makes no sense!” he cried, more to himself than anyone else, “why would they? Kagome doesn't want a baby! I mean, she's only--what? six years older than me!”

“Seven,” Yuka argued.

“Six!”

“SEVEN!”

“I SAID SIX!”

“SHUT UP!” hollered one of the men. Laura threw one of her death looks at him and he became somewhat meeker but he seemed quite determined and didn't back down. “Like Phil said, we don't know what the two were intending to do. Laura had to stop it before we could figure it out!” No Laura was a bit of a dilemma, while she didn't want to admit to Sota what she was sure was going on, she also had no desire to play the remaining of the tape.

“It doesn't matter—Kagome never told me anything!” Yuka whined miserably, “a good friend tells her friend is she licked her boyfriend's nipple, I mean it's the LEAST she could do!” They all stared at her, “What?”

“Come on Laura, can't we watch a little more just to make sure—I mean we could be wrong!”

“This is stupid,” Yuka cried in realization and all the men glared at her, “youknow they HAD to be doing it! I mean did you see the way Kagome just opened her legs and everything? TELL me that wasn't sexual I mean COME ON!”

“Yuka...” Laura said in a weary manner feeling as if protecting Sota's innocence was an impossible quest.

“So...so...” Sota murmured, still looking terrible, “...was K-kagome going to...to...push her...” he gulped feeling sickened, “...private part to Inuyasha's?”

“U-um...” Laura stammered fidgeting uncomfortably.

“Why would she DO that though--she wasn't was she?”

“No!” Yuka shouted laughing loudly, as if it was ridiculous, the sound was as screeching as a harpy's and finally the ear-splitting torture ended, “well sort of, but don't worry about it...” she paused, “...well I guess since you already pretty much know you should be taught the truth so you don't sound like an idiot,” she finished looking thoughtful. Laura looked as if she was entirely warn out and on the brink of insanity.

Yuka...

“Basically, your penis was created for the soul intention to go into a girl's vagina. THAT'S what happens.”

Sota looked very pale.

I-i-i-into?” he squeaked, his face turning whiter and whiter. “th-th-tha-th-that--b-b-but...she wouldn't...they weren't...” he took in a deep breath trying to compose himself, but he still seemed rather distressed, “why did Inuyasha yell like that...when she...”

“That's because he was sexually aroused—or getting an orgasm—something like that...”

“YUKA!” Laura exclaimed dangerously. Yuka flinched looking very irritated and somewhat bewildered.

“Why does everyone always DO that to me? God, I swear EVERYONE'S trying to make me deaf!” Yuka cried looking as if she had been verbally attacked without any reason.
