Chapter 6 - The Inu Family

 

“Well mom is actually a human from this time. She found this ancient well that lets her go back in time to the Feudal Era, 550 years ago. She met Inuyasha, my old man, while searching for the shikon no tama. D'you know about it?”

 

“Yes… your mother is the miko Kagome?”

 

“Yeah. She and pops traveled with these two humans, Miroku and Sango, and this little 6 year old kitsune brat.” Who is now a large kitsune brat. “They eventually completed the jewel and wished for mom to be able to live as long as pops. They lived mostly in ancient Japan at first, until Sango and Miroku died of old age. Then they came back through the well for good. They had adopted Shippo, the fox-youkai, a long time before, and so he was about 14 when the twins were born.”

 

“Fourteen?”

 

“Yeah, foxes age differently than inus; he's only 21 now, but I'm 18.”

 

“Weird.”

 

“Yeah, but handy sometimes,” Mujinku downed the last of his chocolate mocha and waved at the waitress for a second one, getting a refill for Shitenshi as well. “Anyway, Mom was thrilled to have two girls, but pops wanted another son, to balance it out, and so they had me a year later. I suppose I'm lucky, to only have Inukuroko and Taiyuri. Koori's got three sisters.”

 

“Koori?”

 

“My cousin, Koorinumaru. I swear it was the longest name uncle Sesso could invent. See, pops is a hanyou, but he has an older full youkai brother, Sessoumaru. Uncle Sesso married a wind youkai, aunt Kagura, back in the feudal age. They adopted a human daughter at the time named Rin, and had a son of their own about the same age. Aitemaru is about 27 now, in human looks. He's off in China doing something for the museum. I'm sure you know a bit about Aunt Kagura and Uncle Sesso.”

 

“Kagura is a lawyer, right? And Lord Sesshoumaru is the Taiyoukai and owner of the museum and Genius Canis Co.”

 

“Yep. Smart Doggy Family. Anyway, after Rin died, he and aunt Kagura decided not to have any more kids until mom and pops came through the well again. They wanted to have another daughter, like Rin, but they got Koori instead. He's only two months older than me. He isn't nearly as uptight as uncle Sesso and Aitemaru. Anyways, aunt Kagura still wanted a girl, so their tried again and got triplets!”

 

Shitenshi gasped and then chuckled. “Poor Koori.”

 

“Yeah, and Hasuko, Aogiriko, and Yumeko are even worse than the twins. They're younger and they always work in tandem to cause the biggest mess possible. The twins don't stand half a chance against Shippo and I, cause we're equal numbers, but Aitemaru is never home and Koori's stuck with all three of them.” He snickered. “But we'll show them. And the twins.”

 

“How?”

 

“They're just starting to get interested in boys.” His tone held a hint of disgust.

 

“So?”

 

“So pops and Uncle Sesso aren't really too keen on the concept of their little baby daughters dating.” His face lit up with an evil grin. “And we, the boys, ain't gonna do a thing to help them.”

 

Shitenshi giggled. “I don't envy any of their boyfriends.”

 

“It's what they get for picking on us for 18 years.”

 

“True.”

 

Noticing that Shitenshi had almost finished her second drink, Mujinku asked, “Ready to go?” He aimed carefully and threw his empty cup, smiling as it hit the rim of the trashcan and bounced in.

 

“Mmmhmm.” She sucked the last of the latte up through the straw and tossed the cup over her shoulder without looking, smirking as it thunked satisfyingly in the trashcan.

 

Mujinku stared in shock and stuttered, “You- didn't look- how?”

 

“Bat ears.” She grinned at his surprised expression, “Sonar can be a beautiful thing. Ready to go?” She slid out of the booth and grabbed her jacket.

 

“Sure.” Mujinku regained his composure and led her out, holding the door as they emerged into the balmy evening. “So tell me more about this sonar thing.”

(`Ko' is like a feminine version of `Maru' or `Ku')

Did everyone follow that? No? That's ok, you'll meet them all later and it will all make more sense then, I promise. If anyone is still uber confused, I can draw a pretty little family tree for them all. :D

Yep, Mujinku is gonna meet Shiori soon and then Shitenshi gets to meet Inu-Kags, though they might make a cameo before that. Thank you very much!

Ok, I have nothing against flames. If I didn't get them, I would have nothing to roast marshmallows over. But please, try to say something when you flame. Not just “so borring” or “this pairing sux” etc. If you're going to go to all the trouble to review, please at least make it an intelligent beratement of my skilz or story, or don't bother.

Yay! I'm so glad to see someone write about Shiori, err her descendants to be exact, but she was one of the coolest characters I knew! Plus I was getting super tired of all the Inuyasha/Kagome stories! I also liked the way you did the math, and had Shitenshi's life be set in the future! At first, I was a little confused, but the way you had Shitenshi explain about her family was brilliant! I look forward to hearing more from you, and I'll keep tabs on this story!

I know, I love Shiori!!! Yeah, this is about 50 years after the Anime, hopefully this chappie helped clear that up as well :D
