Chapter 12 - Luncheon
Shiori and Shitenshi walked up to the door of the restaurant, the younger hanyou searching for Mujinku. “There!” She pointed to a table in the back and received an enthusiastic wave from the young man facing the door. They threaded their way through the other diners until their reached the back table.
“Shitenshi!” The boy rose and grabbed her hand.
“Hey, Mujinku!” The young man and woman at the table rose and faced them.
“Welcome! You must be Shitenshi.” Kagome extended her hand warmly as Shitenshi nodded.
“Yes, and this is my grandma, Shiori.”
“Shiori?” The man asked, his harsh voice full of skepticism.
“It's been a long time, Inuyasha, Kagome.” The elder bat-hanyou replied, stepping forward.
Kagome also stepped forward and hugged the other woman. “It has been a long time; far too long. It's so good to see you again!” The adults began reminiscing and Shitenshi took the opportunity to observe Mujinku's parents.
Inuyasha had the same silver hair and golden eyes as his son, and one look at his face easily spelled out where Mujinku had gotten his stubbornness from. Both males were wearing jeans and flip flops, but the older one was wearing a red polo shirt with black trim, while the teen was sporting a white sleeveless muscle shirt with the words, `bite me' emblazoned on the chest. Kagome was wearing a knee-length pale blue skirt and a white blouse with tiny blue flowers patterned on it. She had long strait black hair and Shitenshi could tell that she was a human, unlike the two males.
“Come on,” Mujinku squeezed her hand and drew her towards the chairs. “They'll be at this for awhile.”
“Probably. So what was going on at your place this morning?”
The boy's eyes glinted wickedly. “The twins were trying to bug me about getting home late, so I accidentally let it slip that I'd seen Taiyuri at the park with some guy.”
“You saw her out on a date?”
“Nope.”
“What?” Shi gasped.
“Relax, I heard them talking about it last weekend. Tai was going on and on about how she thought he might even make a good boyfriend.” He shook his head in disgust. “They're not the only ones with good ears.” His own ears twitched slightly under his hunter green bandana. Then he smiled in relish. “But man, did pops flip out on them!”
“What broke?”
“Oh you heard that too?”
“Yeah, while I was talking to your mother.”
“Oh, well, see, Shippo and I were sitting at the table, trying to make helpful suggestions.” Shitenshi rolled her eyes at his innocent tone. “Ok, we just wanted to see the spectacle of the perfect little Daddy's girls getting chewed out. But Ship made one comment too many, and Kuro got a little too mad… its too bad, really, mom liked that serving plate.”
“No way!”
“Yeah. Course we dodged it no problem, but now they're in trouble with mom as well as pops. Serves `em right.” He sniffed in disdain and then grabbed a menu. “Speaking of serving…”
Shitenshi tried not to laugh as she too picked up a menu, ignoring the adult chatter.
