Chapter 13 - Time Passes
Shiori had known that Kagome and Inuyasha were still young, but she was not quite prepared for the sight of them turning around, only appearing a few years older than the last time she had seen them.
“Shiori?” Inuyasha asked skeptically.
“It's been a long time, Inuyasha, Kagome.” She replied, stepping forward.
Kagome also stepped forward and hugged her. “It has been a long time; far too long. It's so good to see you again!”
“It's good to see you too, Kagome. I always wondered what happened to you two.”
“Well, we finally managed to defeat Naraku, and completed the shikon no tama.” Kagome began, gesturing for the others to sit as she pulled out her own chair. “We ended up married, as did the monk and exterminator who traveled with us.”
“The ones with the fire-cat and the tanuki?”
“You met them too?” Inuyasha scratched his head with on claw. “I don't remember them being there.”
“Mmhmm. The Tanuki is the one who saved me from falling.”

Head tilted down, bangs falling over her eyes, Shiori didn't even look behind her. “Get out.” Her voice was toneless, but a fire was raging through her blood. Grandfather's eyes widened in shock. Power coursed over her, a crimson radiance like miniature flames. “Revenge for… father!” she turned her head, eyes sparkling with power, and screamed the last word at this being she now hated. The barrier, covered in the same flaming power, pulsed once and shot Taibokumaru backwards. Shiori was alone within it, suspended in the air on her knees.
“How dare you, Shiori!?! You are only a hanyou!” Grandfather's face was full of rage and disbelief.
The barrier dissipated and Shiori found herself plummeting head first.
“She's going to fall!” Kagome cried.
“Shiori!” her mommy lunged up and ran to catch her. “Shiori!”
“Even if Shiori is a hanyou, I can't let a human have her!” Grandfather screeched. Shiori watched, helplessly, as he prepared to shoot his energy beam at the woman
“Watch out, Mother!” Kagome dashed after the older woman.
“Die!” Taibokumaru screamed, a blast of energy shooting from his mouth.
“Mommy!”
Kagome reached Shiori's mommy as the boy flew forward to land in front of them, blocking the two women from harm. “Give up geezer!” He fired his wind blast back at the bat leader.
“No!” Grandfather cried as he exploded.
In the flash of light, Shiori felt strong arms grab her. She looked up into a kindly face, as the tanuki yelled, “Hey, everybody!”
The group, including her mommy, turned to look at the youkai. Shiori scrambled out of his arms and raced for the woman. “Mommy!”

“I remember that.” Kagome picked up the story again. “Yes, well their masters, Miroku and Sango, got married and Inuyasha and I split our time between them and my family in this era. We came here permanently after our friends died, bringing Shippo with us. I'm sure you remember him as well?”
“The little fox child? Yes.”
“Runt.” Inuyasha muttered before being silenced with a glare from his spouse.
“Well we adopted him and brought him with us. Then we had the twins and lastly Mujinku, whom you've met.” Both women smiled knowingly at the teens, who were poring over the menus and talking in hushed tones.
“So what happened to you?” Inuyasha asked as a waitress came to take their order.
“That's a long story.”
