Chapter 25 - Gender Clash II

 

“They're coming and I can't let that lizard youkai see me like this.”

 

“Sunrise?” Shitenshi glanced at the covered window

 

“Two minutes, tops.”

 

“Leave it to me.” She pushed him towards the corner, “Cover your head with your jacket, and go with what I say.” He did as instructed.

 

“Why would his hair suddenly change color?” Shitenshi recognized the speaker as the younger youkai. They were almost at the door.

 

“I dunno!” The man sounded afraid. Good. I'll give them something to fear. Shi picked up the stool and stood before the covered hanyou.

 

“I can't believe you!” She whispered, venomously. “You dared to come here after me?” She heard the door open as she spoke but didn't acknowledge it. “Did you even show him their note? You didn't, did you?” One of the brothers entered the room but she continued to ignore him. “You thought you could actually rescue me and so you didn't even tell Shippo, did you?”

 

“What are you talking about, brat?” Zard's cool voice interrupted. Shi spun around and heaved the stool at the men in the doorway. The human thug was caught off guard and it hit him in the stomach.

 

“You dare put him in here?” She screeched, “You put this wimpy little boy in here with me? You can't even manage to set a trap right!” She cast about for something else to throw, continuing her rant. “I told you my boyfriend would never fall for your pitiful display! You could only catch his little brother! Some gang you are!”

 

“W-what are you t-talking ab-bout?” The younger lizard stuttered.

 

“Him!” She turned back and kicked Mujinku's leg as gently as possible without appearing to. She whirled back on the group in the doorway as he cringed slightly. “I told you Ship would never fall for it! Mujinku didn't even give him the note, did you, pest!” She glared back at him.

 

“I th-thought…” His voice was muffled by the jacket.

 

“You thought that you would pull off some heroic rescue and I would just dump Ship for you?” Seeing the stunned faces of her captors, Shitenshi could barely contain her laughter and compensated by raising her voice. “I told you to stop bugging me! I love Ship, not you, so get over it, Jinku. How dare you put him in here with me, like I would want to see him!”

 

Mujinku poked his head out from under the jacket, silver bangs almost covering his fearful eyes. “Shi, please, I j-just…”

 

“You what?” She hissed back. He ducked his head again. “Ung! You are the limit sometimes!”

 

“Well, I think we'll leave you to it.” Zard's mocking smile matched his smug tone as he waved the other two men out of the room.

 

As soon as the door was closed, Shi spoke again, just loud enough for her audience. “Now Ship has to save you too!”

 

Through the door she could hear a hand hitting flesh and a snide, “Black hair, eh?” Smiling, she pulled off the jacket and sat next to a grinning Mujinku.

 

“But I-” He began, his voice carrying clearly.

 

“No! Just don't talk to me!” Shi yelled back. She heard their captors moving away from the door and whispered. “Sorry for kicking you.”

 

“Mujinku just shook his head and leaned closer. “Nice cover.” He whispered back before pulling her towards him for a kiss.
