Chapter 27 - Planes, Boats, and Dumplings

When footsteps were heard an hour later, the two teens sprang apart: Shitenshi to place the bowl with the empty glass, Mujinku to gaze out the window. Zard swept into the room, followed by his younger brother and the same guard. This time the human carried a tray with rice, milk, and dumplings. Both teens felt their mouths watering at the sight and smell of the food after having been denied so long.

Zard cracked an evil smile at their matching expressions of hunger. “Does this look good?” He purred. They both nodded. “Well I believe that one of you has already eaten, yes?” Shi froze in realization, but Mujinku nodded again, never taking his eyes from the tray. “Then only one of you will get to eat now.”

“What?” Shitenshi whimpered.

“You have already eaten, therefore this is all for the boy.” Zard's smile deepened and his brother stifled a chuckle at the girl's pouting face.

“WHAT? I get kidnapped and beaten up by your idiot thugs, and then I get stuck in the same room with this pest, and thanks to him Ship won't know to come for me, and then you give him all this delicious food?” Shi had been glaring at the brothers, though she shot a look at Mujinku when she mentioned Shippo. Now she leapt to her feet and stalked towards the human, who backed away in fear.

“Yes.” Zard said simply, smirking at the infuriated girl and cringing but hopeful boy. “You have figured out my master plan of making you suffer, since the entire world revolves around you.” His voice dripped with sarcasm as Shitenshi ceased stalking the terrified guard and began to advance on him.

“It ought to.” Shi muttered, stopping right before the two youkai. “It certainly doesn't revolve around scum like you.”

“I don't like your insolent tone.” Zard hissed before viciously backhanding her.

Shi picked herself up and faced the youkai, fire filing her amethyst eyes. “You will pay for what you have done to me.” She spat out. “I will never forgive you for this, or for the first time.” With that she whipped around and stormed over to the corner.

Mujinku had forced himself to stay where he stood when Shi fell, but he followed her retreat with concerned eyes. The last time? Does she mean before I got here? But that doesn't make sense. What happened before?

The older youkai leader shook his head in confusion before leading his gaping brother from the room. “Make sure the love-struck idiot doesn't share his food.” He growled at the human guard before slamming the door.

Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru skidded to a halt at the edge of a small clearing. A long strip of trees and grass had been cleared for a dirt runway. A tower stood at the far end next to a small hanger and a couple of cars. The hanger door was open, revealing a private plane. “They took them off the island!” Inuyasha growled, stalking towards the tower.

A mechanic was lounging by the hanger door when he spied the angry man coming towards him. About to call for help, he was silenced by a lithe hand clamping over his mouth. “You don't want to try that.” A smooth voice hissed in his ear.

“Let him breath, Sesso.” Inuyasha stormed up to the mechanic, their noses almost touching. “He won't scream, will you?” The frightened man shook his head and was released.

“He'd better not.” Sesshoumaru moved next to his brother and pinned the man with an icy glare. The human gulped visibly and shook his head again.

“Where does this plane fly to?” Inuyasha growled.

“Sadoga-Shima.”

“Thanks.” Inuyasha turned to leave.

“Where are you going?” The elder youkai asked.

“I'm taking a boat. A big one.”

If you go strait across the island of Honshu, starting from Tokyo, there is a little island called Sadoga-Shima.
