Chapter 34 - Aftermath
Mujinku didn't know how long he held the girl, but eventually her sobs calmed and she spoke. “I-I'm sor-ry Jinku.”
“For what?”
“Th-this.” Shi waved vaguely at the dead youkai.
“Listen.” Mujinku tilted her chin to look deep into her amethyst eyes. “He was a bad youkai. Like you said; now he won't hurt anyone else, ever again. You stopped him from hurting others. You didn't do a single thing wrong.”
Shitenshi wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. “Really?”
“Yes. Really.” Mujinku lightly kissed the top of her head. “I'm proud of you, Tenshi.”
“Thank you.” Shitenshi snuggled in closer to his neck. “What about the-the other bro-bro-ther?” she yawned.
“Don't worry, pops and Uncle Sesso will take care of him.”
“What?”
Mujinku disarmed his staff and slipped it into the holsters on his back before scooping the tired girl into his arms and carrying her through the building. “Remember the messages I sent back with Koori and Shippo?” She nodded. “And how I told them not to follow me?” She nodded again. “Well if there is one thing uncle Sesso can't stand, it's being told what to do. The only person who hates it more is pops.”
“Oh. I get it.” Shi mumbled into his neck. “You think they fell for it?”
“Without a doubt. And even if they didn't, mom and aunt Kagura would've made them follow us. Don't worry about anything, Shi, just rest.” Shi merely nodded, already almost asleep. Mujinku quietly prowled through the large warehouse. He found no other humans or youkai, with the exception of the men they had knocked out. They'll be gone by the morning. Seeing nothing of interest, he exited the building and found that they were in a large abandoned complex.
It appeared to have been a shipping yard once upon a time, but it was long since closed. Finding an office, he deftly picked the lock with a claw and pushed in. There were two rooms, the outer one containing two desks and a couch. Mujinku carefully laid Shitenshi on the couch, covering her in his jacket when she shivered. He opened the door to the inner office and began poking through its contents, often glancing at the girl through the open door. Most of the drawers in the large mahogany desk were empty, but in the bottom one he found a stack of brochures.
The hanyou took one and wandered back into the other room, reading it. `QUIKSHIP: We work for you' was emblazoned on the front. Inside were lists of shipping routes and fees. The back cover had a picture of their shipping fleet and the proud declaration: `Located just off the main island of Honshu on convenient Sadoga-Shima, we can get your package anywhere on the islands overnight, guaranteed.'
Sadoga-Shima? We're in trouble. Mujinku tossed the brochure aside and sat cross-legged on the floor in front of the couch. Laying his re-joined staff across his lap, he leaned back against the couch and closed his eyes. Better rest now, cause in the morning we have to find a way off this sharding island. Ears perked and senses on alert, Mujinku dozed lightly, waiting for the dawn.

Sorry folks, I sort of got into a minor car accident while driving home from college on Monday. I'm totally fine and my car is more or less ok, I was just too tired/swamped to get my compy reconfigured for the net at home. But here are the chappies I missed. Enjoy!!!

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha *pouts* or any of the other characters. I want to thank Rumiko Takahashi and company for creating such awesome characters for me to write about as I drool with envy at her skillz. ;)
