A/N: Thank you to those of you who reviewed! I appreciate it! My ultimate goal is to simply have the authors on my favorites list to review. But I am very happy for everyone's review!
till: Thank you for the review! I won't answer your guess for those readers who haven't quite caught up with you! (I'm guessing not that many ^_^)
Dreaming Girl: The only thing I will tell you is it's NOT an inu/kag. I know that I made Miroku have some perverted moments, but not many.
Kellie: ^_^ I would too. But who knows! Thanks!
Chokoreeto Ame: Same answer as Dreaming Girl! ^_^ Thanks for the review!

"Sango!" Kagome yelled at seeing her new friend. Sango looked up in time to see Kagome releasing Miroku's arm and go running toward her. Sango smiled, trying to mask her sadness. She had a huge crush on Miroku, but didn't show it because she knew he would never love anyone but Kagome. `Face it girl, they've known each other forever. You have only been here a few months,' she berated herself.
"Hi Kagome… Miroku," she said. Miroku nodded at her. The girls started babbling incessantly about everything and yet nothing in particular. Miroku simply looked around and took in his surroundings when her spotted Inuyasha at his locker, alone. "I'll be right back girls," he said, not caring if they heard him or not. Miroku walked over to Inuyasha.
"Hey Inuyasha. Where's Kikyo?" Miroku spat.
"Come on Miroku, be nice. She went to take Hitomi to the daycare. What's the matter? You look pissed," Inuyasha noted.
"I have just reasoning. It's the first day of school and Kagome's already depressed over you," Miroku ground out.
At Miroku's comment, Inuyasha looked over at Kagome who was chatting away with Sango. They both looked rather melancholy. Miroku could have sworn he saw a flicker of guilt in Inuyasha's amber eyes.
"Feh! That wench just needs to get over me!"
`Well, shot that notion down didn't ya, old pal?' Miroku thought absently to himself.
Miroku wouldn't stand for his tone though. "Inuyasha!" Miroku hissed. "I know this is all an act to get Kagome to get over you. But I'll be damned if you continue to hurt her!"
Inuyasha snorted at Miroku. "Look, I know you're just jealous, so why don't you just run along back to Kagome like the little puppy you are, and keep trying to win her over."
Miroku glared at Inuyasha. He was infuriated. He punched Inuyasha hard in the gut and walked back to Kagome. Inuyasha, knowing he deserved it, did not retaliate. He looked up and smiled sadly at Kagome. She was blushing and giggling at something Miroku had whispered into her ear.
"Inu honey! Are you alright?!" Kikyo fawned over her boyfriend.
"I'm fine, Kikyo. Don't worry. I'll get him back later."

`Now's my chance. It's only her and Sango. I can finally get my chance to talk to her. But not just talk to her… we talk all the time. She will be mine!'
As he was gathering the courage to walk over to Kagome, Miroku returned. He sighed.
`I'll go over anyway and talk to her!'
But as he started walking over, the trio walked away, never noticing the figure walking toward them.

Lunchtime
Kagome, Miroku, and Sango all sat together munching happily on their food. They were all babbling on about their classes. For the most part, they had the same classes except Sango. She only had Japanese with Miroku and Kagome. But they were thankful for that one. Kagome looked up and around to gaze at her surroundings.
`Hmm… don't know, don't know, Hojo, don't know, Kouga,' she waved at him, he waved back. `Don't kn… why is Inuyasha smirking? That can't be good. I wonder who the prank will be on this time.'
"Watch this." Inuyasha said to Kikyo. Inuyasha casually walked up with his tray of food. He walked straight toward Miroku. He silently thanked the lunch ladies that it was Sloppy Joe day. He had also bought cole slaw, pudding, and milk.
"Oh dear! I've tripped!" Inuyasha yelled very loudly and dripping with sarcasm. He dumped his tray all over Miroku. Kagome saw it coming and was ready to retaliate. Kagome took the top bun off her Sloppy Joe and smashed it into Inuyasha's face.
In her outrage, Kikyo ran over with her pudding. Miroku smirked and grabbed Kikyo's hand and smashed the pudding into Kikyo's own face. Right after that, some unknown hooligan yelled "Food fight!"
Miroku pulled Kagome under a table before she could be beamed with food. Kouga, wanting a small taste of revenge, spotted out Miroku and smashed cole slaw in his hair.
"Everyone, FREEZE!" Rang loud through the cafeteria. Everyone stopped mid- throw, too terrified to move. "I saw everything! Inuyasha! Kagome! Into my office NOW!"

Inuyasha and Kagome gulped and silently scurried off to Principal Kaede's office. They had to wait quite a few minutes. Principal Kaede had to get towels for the two teens. Upon her return, she sighed and shook her head. Inuyasha was covered head to toe in various food articles. Kagome, meanwhile, had hardly any speck of food on her. She handed the students a towel each and sat down at her desk.
"So Inuyasha, what possessed ye to dump your tray onto Miroku?" Kaede asked the silver- haired hanyou. Inuyasha incoherently mumbled something that sounded like revenge. Kaede sighed. "I give up on ye Inuyasha. I've tried everything, and yet nothing works! And Kagome, I trust you not to do something like this again."
Kagome mumbled a "Yes, ma'am." They were dismissed shortly after a personal lecture from Principal Kaede and were told to leave campus immediately for the rest of the day.
As they walked out, Kagome stifled a sob. She had never gotten into trouble before. She turned away from Inuyasha though. She didn't want him to see her cry. Inuyasha still noticed and felt terrible. It was his fault she was crying. "Come on Kags, I'll take you home." Kagome slowly turned to him.
"What did you just call me?"
He realized what he said and repeated it.
"Kags…"
He whispered it so low that she almost hadn't heard him. `That was the first time I've called her Kags in almost two years.'
As if hearing his thoughts, she said, "That's the first time you've called me that in two years…" she trailed off and totally broke down. He couldn't take it anymore, he felt to horrible. "Come on Kagome. I'll take you home."

By the time they had arrived at her house, Inuyasha realized that he truly missed hanging out with Kagome. "Hey Kags, would you mind spending some time with me tonight?" he asked her hopefully. "Kikyo is taking Hitomi with her family on a two-week vacation."
Kagome visibly stiffened. She didn't want to know what feeling would be conjured up if she spent time with him.
"Actually, Miroku is coming over tonight to work on a project. I don't think you two being near each other is a good idea."
Inuyasha nodded. "I understand. What about tomorrow night?"
Kagome blushed. `There's no way I'm gonna get out of spending time with him.' She tried desperately to think of an excuse. "No… I have to… uhm…"
Inuyasha took her hands in his. "Please Kags. I'd really like it." Kagome sighed in defeat. "All right. What did you have in mind?"
Inuyasha look at her blankly. "Just hanging out at your place and catching up."
Kagome felt like an idiot. "Oh! Uhm… of course! Come over whenever you want"
Inuyasha smiled at her. Once she climbed out of his car, he sped off, wanting to get back to her place as soon as possible.

He watched through piercing crimson eyes as Kikyo entered the beach house.
`It's about damn time. All I needed was for her to be nowhere near that gullible fool, Inuyasha!'
He lurked in the night shadows around the dwelling. `This is simply too easy!'
He whispered to himself, "It is now time to rid myself of these filthy burdens!"
