After school, Kagome was walking back home with her friends.

"Oh god! Did you see our history teacher?" Eri breathed.

"Mmmm! He is so hot! I mean with the long hair, and…" Ayame snickered as Yuri ranted.

"Yeah, well Kag-chan knows him." Ayame pointed out. "She was all shocked when he walked in, and he knew her."

All eyes turned to her. "I only know him because he was a friend of the family, and please do not try to even get his attention. He is not the nicest person."

"Oh, you're just jealous." Sniffed Yuri. "I'm sure he's very nice."

"I am going to pick up some stuff for my mom, I'll see you guys later." Kagome said, rolling her eyes, and ducking in to a store. 'Sesshoumaru? Going out with a human? Wrong…Soooo wrongggg.' She thought as she scanned the shelves, just buying time so she could walk home in peace.

"Excuse me…" A warm voice, said. Kagome felt a hand on her shoulder, and turned around. A tall teenager with a shock of bright orange hair down to his shoulders, stood before her. He looked about a year older then her, with light brown eyes and a small smile on his lips.

"Yes?" Kagome said, trying to place where she had seen him before.

"You don't know who I am?" the boy seemed almost saddened. A bright smile lit up his face as he said. "Well does this help?"

With those words, he got on his knees, and swept his hair up in to a loose ponytail. "Kagome-chan?" He chirped, making his eyes as large and liquidy as possible, a grin on his lips.

"S-Shippo!!!" she gasped, throwing herself at him, feeling him laugh as he scooped her up in his arms. "You jerk!!" she sobbed, in to his shoulder, relieved to see him. He carried her out of the store, and to a nearby bench.

"Nice to see ya too…" he said dryly. Kagome sniffed, and looked up.

"How did you get so…old?" she asked, poking his shoulder. "And what happened after I left? Where's Inuyasha? Did you see Kouga? Did you know that Sesshoumaru is alive? He's my history teacher!"

Shippo held up a hand. "Easy, one at a time. It has been 500 years since I last saw you, so I am bound to seem older. Youkai age differently. When we are young we age more quickly, then we even out, aging more slowly. And I think that Inuyasha should be the one to tell you what happened after you left. He is probably still looking for you. Kouga is around, and yes I know Fluffy is alive."

Kagome snickered. "Fluffy?"

"Inuyasha has taken to calling him that, since the last time we saw him, knowing he couldn't attack us." Shippo grinned. "Pisses him off. Did I answer your questions?"

Kagome nodded. "Do you live here?" she asked tentatively. Shippo watched the passing cars for a moment, then turned back to her.

"Nope. Inuyasha and I live together, along with our pet "cat" Kirara." He raised an eyebrow. "Kouga lives across town, with someone you would not expect."

"Who?" Kagome inquired.

"Kagura! He is absolutely in love with her." Shippo snickered. "His pack was suppose to kill her, but along the way, he supposedly fell for her, and could not bring himself to bring her to the pack to kill."

*Flash back*

Kagura lay on the ground of the cave, curled up in the fetal position. Her red eyes were closed in pain with every movement she made: tiny knives of pain rained on her body. Her ears heard someone-Kouga- making a fire. Her eyes opened, and she managed to croak out. "Y-you aren't going to kill me?"

Kouga acted as if he hadn't heard her, and kept working. Kagura sat up with a gasp of pain, and bit her lip. Kouga turned once the fire was going, and met her eyes, briefly. "Lay back down." He ordered gruffly.

Kagura laughed a rough, coarse sound. "W-What do you care? You want me dead."

Kouga sat near her, and leaned his elbows on his knees, observing her. "Yeah." He nodded. "You killed many of my pack. Why shouldn't I let you be turned over to those who deserve to judge you?"

"It was the bastard Naraku." She said softly. "I had no choice in serving him, much as I loathed it. He ordered me to do something, I did it. Simple and effective." She spat the last part bitterly. "I had no choice. I killed because I was ordered to."

"Why didn't you escape? Seemed like ya could."

"Do you know what its like? Kouga- if I even thought of deceiving Naraku, it was like he was squeezing my heart. I couldn't breathe, see, nothing. It would kill me, but then he would just bring me back to life. I could do nothing." Kagura stared at him, willing him to understand. "Have you ever felt what it is like to have someone control your every thought, move and feeling? The utter helplessness that comes with you knowing that he could order you to cut your own heart out, and you could do nothing?" Kagura snorted derisively. "Of course not…you had everything, nothing could make you helpless."

Kouga growled, "Shut your trap," He snapped. "An' don't talk 'bout things you don't know about."

Kagura shook her head, "Fine." She uttered, before falling to the ground, her energy spent.

Kouga watched her a few more moments, and decided that he believed her. 'Oh hell. What am I going to do now?'

*End Flashback*

"Kagura??" Kagome asked, stunned. "Whoa, sort of going from one side to another…"

"Yeah, and Inuyasha never lets him forget it…" Shippo commented dryly. "Why don't you go home? I'll call you later, and all of us can get together."

Kagome nodded, and searched her backpack for a pen, and paper. Quickly she scribbled down her number, and handed it to him. "I missed you," she said softly. She reached up and brushed away some hair from his face. "You are too tallllll!" she whined, flicking his nose gently.

"Hey!" he said indignantly. "Have some respect!"

After Kagome got home, her mother nearly attacked her. "Where have you been!! I was worried sick! You are an hour late!" Mrs. Higurashi was ringing her hands, her brown eyes holding tears that did not fall. "You didn't call, you didn't tell me anything!"

Kagome dropped her backpack and looked up. "I met an old friend. We just had some catching up to do, and then I rushed home. I was going to call, but I didn't have any loose change."

Her mother sighed, and ruffled Kagome's hair. "You little brat…" she sighed affectionately. "Just try to call or let me know okay?"

Kagome nodded, and sniffed. "Ohhh! Is that oden?" Her eyes went big, and she looked up at her mom. "Please say it is!!"

Her mother laughed, and led her to the kitchen where Souta was already inhaling some. Her stomach growled, and she immediately sat down and began to eat.

Kagome sat in her room, her head resting on her arms, her lips pursed as she tried to figure out her algebra homework. "Stupid math. No one needs to know if Mr. Fugimigi will make it to his appointment in time…" she grumbled.

"Maybe Mr. Fugimigi wants to know." Said a soft, amused voice, from behind her.

Kagome squeaked in surprise, and tried to turn around quickly, but only succeeded in falling off her chair, and on to the floor. "Oomph." She groaned, and looked up. "I-Inu…Yasha…"

The youkai in question flashed her a quicksilver grin, and helped her up. "Yeah. That's me, last time I checked."

"You're…Here." She managed, sitting on her bed, still stunned. "How did you..?"

"Get here?" he continued at her nod. "I waited for 500 years…" he stood before her. Kagome let her eyes wander him, starting with his long silvery hair, which hadn't changed, to his face, which looked only a bit older, with his light brown eyes. He had human ears and regular human clothes on, baggy jeans a dark red button-down shirt.

"It's really you…" Kagome whispered, and ran at him, hugging him tightly around the waist. "It feels like forever since I saw you."

Inuyasha hugged her back, hands stroking up and down her back, assuring both of them that he (or she) was really there. He buried his nose in her hair and inhaled deeply. "It's been forever…" he murmured, pulling back to look at her.

His brown eyes searched hers for something, anything, it seemed to Kagome, because he simply lay his cheek on the crown of her head, and sighed. "Stupid wench…" he said halfheartedly.

"Nani?" Kagome asked, too comfortable to notice his words. He let a smirk creep on to his lips before pulling back, and nuzzling her cheek. "I-Inuyasha?" Kagome stuttered, unsure as to why he was being so affectionate.

"I missed you. I waited for you, waited for you to grow up, watched you grow up, and waited for when I could actually tell you I was here. If I had come earlier, it would have screwed up time." He explained letting go of the magic which made him seem human.

Inuyasha's ears peeked out of his long silver hair, twitching with their new freedom. His brown eyes grew to the molten gold she so loved. His fangs grew out, and replaced his regular teeth. Kagome slid her hands around his neck, and tangled in his hair, reaching up to gently run her fingers over the furry triangles. They twitched again, and he bent down to nuzzle her neck, making her smile. "I love your ears…" she mumbled, as his arms picked her up, and lay her on the bed, knowing how tired she probably was. Kagome yawned, and pulled him down to her. "Stay…" she mumbled even quieter.

Inuyasha bent down and kissed her lips gently, and lay down, pulling her against him snugly. Kagome yawned again, and turned over so she was chest to chest with him. "Stay… please…" she pleaded, tucking her head under his chin. Inuyasha pulled her closer, and nibbled at her ear lobe. She shivered, and opened her eyes, a jolt of heat shooting through her body. A sexy smirk lingered on his lips, knowing what he did to her, and he closed his eyes, re-tucking her head under his chin.

"I will." He promised. 'I will stay with you forever…I promise…'
