InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ In the Game of Life ❯ Searching ( Chapter 3 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

I am soooooo sorry that I haven't updated till now. I know I said I'd update soon, but I have been very busy lately. Finals are coming up and the stupid teachers think it's fun to pile on a bunch of homework. I know that's not really an excuse, but I hope that you can forgive me. The reviews will be at the end this time.

Chapter 3: Searching

Kagome's eyes are fixed on the ceiling. They've been planted there for a while now. She didn't understand why Inuyasha pushed her down the well. `And who was that strange man that was in the room earlier? Was he real or was he a dream? If he was real, then was Inuyasha a dream? And if so, how did the dream feel so real? Am I even awake right now?'

Kagome is pulled out of her trance as a shadow caught her eye. She sits up and gets out of the bed that she had found herself in to notice that she is in different clothes. She is wearing a silky white long-sleeved top with fuzzy things at the ends of the sleeves and matching pants.

She averted her eyes again as she saw a figure walk past her doorway.

She steps outside of her room and into a long hallway lined with red carpet (think Grammy's). The walls are elegant and lights are nicely placed next to each of the many doors in the hallway. The lights are dim and there are no windows, so she could not tell whether it was night or day.

She then remembers that she was following someone and turns around to see his shadow creeping around the end of the hallway. She walks quickly but silently to catch up with it.

She reaches the corner and peeks cautiously around it just to see the shadow once again curving around a corner. Kagome sighs `How fast is this guy? I'm moving twice as fast as him, but he's still really far ahead of me.' (have you noticed those old horror films where the person about to be caught is running really fast and the bad guy is walking and somehow he catches up to her?)

She reaches the next corner and peeks around it to see a big wooden door. She assumes the person must have gone through them since it's the only thing there. She opens the door to be welcomed by vast expansion of darkness.

The sliver of moonlight is all that allows Kagome to see the white dome ahead of her. There is a small light that shows her to the entrance to the dome. She opens it and is blinded by the flooding light. She waits a while for her eyes to adjust to the overwhelming light and then quietly shuts the door.

She looks straight ahead to see an identical white door. She looks around to see weapons lining the walls. Everything from double-bladed axes to old samurai swords (can't remember the name at the moment) are neatly hung on either side of the doors. Most of them she is not even familiar with.

She turns back to the door and walks over to it noticing a small window. She peeks in it and sees two figures fighting. She cannot make the figures out because the glass is too thick, so she slowly moves her hand close to the door and places it carefully on the handle as if it were an untamed horse.

Kagome slowly presses down on the handle and is once again overcome with darkness. It is not very dark compared to the color of the outside sky, so it doesn't take very long for her eyes to adjust.

Once her eyes are once again used to the change, she again sees the two figures, but now one is standing over the other with his back facing her. The other is laying on the ground and his face cannot be seen.

The "winning" man says assumingly to her in a deep voice "Come in, girl."

The voice seems familiar to Kagome. She scans her eyes over his body. He is wearing loose dark jeans and a silky white shirt with stripes of dark green running down it. He also has a strange fuzzy thing wrapped around his right shoulder.

She obeys his command not because he commanded it but because there is no longer a need to hide. She walks across the battered floor towards him, but stops cautiously just a few feet away from him. "Who are you?" Kagome asks.

The man turns around and his face is revealed to her. He has smooth skin, some sort of markings on the sides of his face, deep golden eyes, and a strange color of hair. It's a light silvery- bluish color.

`Wait a minute…' Kagome told herself, `purple lines, golden eyes, and silver hair…?! But it can't be.' "Sesshoumaru?!"

Sesshoumaru kept his usual expressionless face, but asked "Do I know you?"

They stared at each other for a while until a very slight amount of surprise crept onto his face. "You were Inuyasha's woman."

Kagome flinched at the word "were". That word brought her to two conclusions. Either her "dream" of Inuyasha was really a dream and Inuyasha had died, or that, in her time being transported to this strange building, Inuyasha had denied her as his girlfriend. She felt a single tear roll down her cheek as reality slapped her in the face. How could Inuyasha dump her?

But why was Inuyasha's brother here? And, why was she here? And where is here?

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a moan come from behind Sesshoumaru. She then remembered the other man that she saw in the room with Sesshoumaru earlier. She walked around Sesshoumaru, and saw the man rubbing his head, her eyes zoomed to his face and then widened.

"Inuyasha!!" Kagome ran over to Inuyasha and hugged him tight. "Why did you dump me? What did I do wrong?"

Inuyasha blushed. "Okay, that's it. Look lady, I don't even know who you are, and whoever the hell this inuyasha- guy is, he's not me okay!"

Okay. I'm sorry that I couldn't make this chapter longer. Believe it or not, this small chapter took up all the time I could spare during the entire week. I don't have a lot of time on my hands, and I've been getting about four hours of sleep a night. I do have an idea that can keep you guys from waiting for so long: I'll update at least twice a week, but it won't be a whole chapter. I'll add pieces onto it. That way you guys won't have to wait forever till the next update. Please tell me your opinions. ^_^

Alright. Now onto the reviews:

Faye 273: *sticks tongue out*. Well, I hope this adds more questions to your pile. Mwahaha. Don't worry; your questions will be answered eventually.

catsrock208: I like you. I am really very sorry that it took me so long to update. I hate to disappoint my fans.

Dah88: I'm sorry I didn't answer any of your questions in this chapter. Most of them will most likely be answered in the fourth chapter.

idonthaveanickname: I really can't apologize enough for updating so late. I like my fans very much and I really have been doing my best to update as quickly as possible, but unfortunately, I do not have all the time in the world. If I did, you would be complaining that I was updating too fast.

Lili68: I'm glad you like my fic. I hope the tears keep coming. l-l

I know that this chapter didn't answer any questions, but now you can complain about that in a review. And you'll look forward to the next chapter, which I will start on as soon as I get a few questions answered by my superior.
