Chapter 2

Sango and Miroku stared at the happy couple sitting on the riverbank. They shook their heads.

"Well, apparently they made up," Miroku said.

"Why can't those two just admit that they are in love with each other and just get it over with?" she asked. Miroku nodded his head.

"I agree," he said. "But there is still that issue with Kikyo and Kagome never thinking she can compete with her and Inuyasha still running off and leaving Kagome behind any time he catches Kikyo's scent." Sango nodded angrily.

"It makes me mad just to think about it!" she said. "How Kagome puts up with that is beyond me!!! I honestly think that I would even put up with your groping before I would that!!!" Immediately Sango brought a hand to her mouth when she realized what she just said. Miroku's eyes lit up.

"REALLY?" he said as he reached for her butt.

"HENTAI!!!!" she screamed and hit Miroku over the head with her boomerang.

"Sounds like Miroku is being a pervert again," Kagome said looking back at an infuriated and red Sango. Kagome giggled a little. "I wish those two would just admit that they're in love with each other." Inuyasha nodded as he also looked back in their direction.

"Of course it would probably happen a lot quicker if Miroku didn't try to hit on every woman he comes into contact with," he said. Kagome nodded.

"Or grope Sango 24/7!!!" she said with a laugh. Inuyasha smiled. "You should definitely tell someone how you feel about them."

"Yeah, I know," Inuyasha said nodding. Kagome stood up.

"Well, I am going to go make more flower crowns with Shippo!" she said stretching allowing Inuyasha a full view of her smooth stomach. That school uniform she always wore was never conservative of her features. Inuyasha stared at her smooth stomach out of the corner of his eye, but then stared back at the river when she was done stretching. He nodded his head. Kagome walked back over to Shippo and seated herself next to him. He had already started trying to make more flower crowns. Inuyasha decided to follow shortly behind. He plopped himself down on the ground a little farther away from Kagome and Shippo than he had sat before. Inuyasha looked up to Sango who was apparently ignoring Miroku at the time. Miroku just sat with a red handprint on his face and his usual "I got slapped but it was worth it" grin. Inuyasha shook his head. He just couldn't understand the monk sometimes. Kagome's giggling directed his attention towards her. She had yet again placed another crown of flowers on Shippo's head that was too big for him and covered up his eyes. Kagome giggled a little more then noticed that Inuyasha was looking at her and Shippo. Kagome smiled sheepishly and while continuing to look back at Inuyasha lifted the flower crown off of Shippo's head before the same situation as before could happen all over again. Inuyasha gave her a smile of approval. Kagome smiled back and went back to work on making the crown a little smaller for Shippo.

Sango soon walked over and sat next to Kagome. Kagome showed Sango how to make the flower crowns and she too began making crowns of her own, while Kilala pawed at the flowers playfully. She laughed and made a little crown to place on Kilala's head. It too fell over the demon cat's eyes. Kagome, Sango, and Shippo laughed as Shippo chased after Kilala trying to get the flowers off of her head.

"There haven't been too many demons around here lately," Sango said suddenly. "It seems that they have almost went into hiding or something like that time when Naraku disappeared." Miroku soon walked over nervously.

"I've noticed that too," he said nodding. "You would think that with Naraku dead, they would be everywhere." Kagome nodded and turned away. She felt guilty. She had shot her arrow into Inuyasha's Bakurryha attack enabling them to kill Naraku. However, when Naraku died, he exploded sending the jewel shards he had possessed in several different directions in the same way Kagome had sent the jewel shards in different directions from the beginning. Kikyo still roamed the earth, but had almost given her unspoken permission for Kagome and Inuyasha to be together. Kikyo had been a lot nicer to Kagome right before Naraku was killed. They had even worked together in killing Naraku. But now, Kikyo continues her solitary voyage across the earth. She didn't die…er…um…go to hell any way. She merely continues to roam the earth. It made Kagome shudder to think that Inuyasha's lover was still out there able to snatch him away from her at any time. She understood that Inuyasha felt indebted to her, but that was still no excuse for taking off every time he caught wind of her scent. `Wait a minute,' Kagome thought. `Come to think of it…Inuyasha hasn't taken off to her lately. We killed Naraku forever ago. Surely Kikyo has passed by here at least once. Why hasn't he run to her?' Kagome shook her head of these thoughts. It's not like it mattered anyway. She quickly turned her attention back to the conversation at hand.

Inuyasha hadn't moved or said anything the entire time. He knew why the demons hadn't come out. It was mating season. They were too busy finding mates to worry over finding the shikon no tama unless Inuyasha and the gang practically ran into them. He wasn't going to voice his knowledge however. He knew that the others would know his heat cycle would be coming soon. He would never hear the end of it from Miroku and it would probably scare the girls. He decided to keep his mouth shut.

"Maybe they found out how we defeated Naraku and are scared to face us now," Shippo said fiddling with a few of the flowers in an effort to make a crown. Inuyasha looked at the little kitsune. For once in his life, the kitsune made an interesting point. It especially helped Inuyasha keep his `demon mating' secret a secret. The others seemed to jump on that idea too seeing as how they couldn't think of anything else.

Kagome smiled and patted Shippo on the head. "Good thinking, Shippo," she said standing up. "I think I am going to…OH!" Kagome grabbed her stomach and fell to her knees. Inuyasha was on his feet in a split second.

"Kagome!" he said with concern.

"Kagome, are you okay?" Sango said rushing to her friend's side. Kagome was on her hands and knees holding her stomach with one hand. Shippo crawled next to Kagome.

"Kagome! Kagome!" Shippo squealed. "What's wrong?" Kagome couldn't speak. Her pain was intense.

"Why don't you lay down Kagome?" Miroku asked walking to her side. Kagome nodded her head. They laid her down on her back. Inuyasha just stared in disbelief.

"San-go," Kagome stuttered in between pains. Sango was right there. Kagome motioned for her to come down to her so she could whisper. She whispered something in Sango's ear. Sango's eyes grew wide and she nodded. She crawled over to Kagome's yellow backpack and began searching for something.

"What's going on, Sango?" Miroku asked. Inuyasha meanwhile had focused his attention on Kagome. Sango said nothing to Miroku and soon pulled out a small pack of pink pills. Sango grabbed the pills and a water bottle and rushed back to Kagome's side. She lifted her friend's head and placed two of the pills in her mouth. She then fed Kagome the water and Kagome swallowed the pills down.

"What the hell was that?" Inuyasha asked. Sango didn't look up to Miroku or Inuyasha when they spoke. Inuyasha and Miroku exchanged glances.

"Uh…we would like to know what's going on too, Sango. Kagome's our friend, too," Miroku stated folding his arms. He and Inuyasha were growing aggravated that Sango wouldn't tell them anything. Sango gently laid Kagome back down on the ground.

"I'll let Kagome tell you if she feels like it," she said not looking at them. Inuyasha stepped forward.

"Is she gonna be okay? Can you tell me that?" he asked angrily. Sango looked at him. Were it not for the situation, Sango would have laughed at the hanyou's concern for Kagome despite how much he tries to deny it.

"She will be fine," she said. "Just give her a little while longer to rest and she should be okay." Inuyasha and Miroku nodded. Inuyasha sat himself right next to Kagome and looked at her. She looked over to him and smiled. He gave her a slight smile in return and then faced forward waiting for her to recover. It wasn't long before Kagome sat up perfectly fine.

"Now what was that all about?" Inuyasha asked. He then turned his head away so he didn't have to look at her in the face. "You okay?" he said rather abruptly and almost under his breath. She nodded her head.

"Kagome, what's going on?" Miroku asked. "Is there something that you need to be telling us?" Kagome blushed and looked at Sango. Sango urged her on.

"It's nothing really," she began. "It's happened many times before…just not around you guys. It's happened around Sango or at home. I don't know how much feudal era guys know about girls, but have you ever heard of something called `that time of month'?"

Inuyasha and Miroku exchanged some confused glances. Kagome sighed. She really didn't want to go into this with those guys. Was it even necessary that they know? Suddenly, Inuyasha caught wind of Kagome's scent. He knew exactly what she was talking about now. Her scent had changed slightly and had a slight arousal effect on him, and it couldn't have happened at a worse time. Kagome was in heat.

A/N: Hi guys! I am trying not to get too gross with this okay. This is a lemon fic, but I don't want it to be a flat out disgusting fic either!!
