Just one review for the last chapter. I'm starting to think that no one is reading this. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to stop writing this story, because I'm in love with it ^_^

In the Mirror: Chapter twelve. Inside the mind.

The wind blew through his hair as he made his way back to his master, or the man that had control over him. The trees that he passed looked more like green blurs then actual objects. His mind was blank escape for the very small part of him that was trying to regain control of his body. Nothing was working. The part of his mind that was still his was so small that he couldn't form a coherent thought, but somehow he knew that this wasn't right. His powers weren't suppose to be used this way. He was given these powers for a reason, but trying to kill the hanyou was not it. He was supposed to kill the miko, but she was too beautiful to take away from the world. He had no idea how he was able to disobey his masters orders to kill her, it was just an impulse.

 

And the urge to take her as his mate was all wrong to. She already has a mate, or at lest a potential mate. The hanyou's scent was all over her and hers on him. That and the fact that he was already in love with someone. A beautiful neko youkai named Keiko. Maybe that was why he wanted to take her for him self, she looked like Keiko. They had known each other since childhood and fell in love at adulthood. They were to be mated as soon as possible. That is until his master took him away from her. The small part of his mind that was still his knew that she must be worried to death about him. The process to take over his body took a little longer then most other youkai because his powers were greater then theirs.

 

He found a jewel shard on his lands. He thought it would increase his powers, so he jammed it into his forehead. He had to admit that he was a little power hungry back in those days. He told him self that it was just the desire to protect his mate against anything that came their way. But deep down he knew that it was just him wanting more power then he was gifted with. Keiko didn't agree with it at first, but she gradually got used to the idea. But then he started getting headaches. Miner ones at first, but then they got worse. Almost crippling him with pain. He thought that it was his body trying to adjust to the power of the jewel shard. Then he started getting annoyed at everything around him. Even Keiko; they got into a giant fight. And then the unthinkable happened.

 

He hit her.

 

And he didn't care.

 

That was when he was taken under control by his master. But even though his body had been taken his mind still belonged to him, and he knew that what he did to her was wrong. So he fled his lands never to be seen again. That was two years ago. And he hadn't seen his lover since then. Somehow he managed to avoid running into the arms of his master for a few months. He just kept running around the country sides trying to find away to remove the jewel shard from his forehead. But nothing worked.

 

He tried clawing at it with his hands, with rocks. He had witches do spells, and even tried to have a miko to remove it. That just burnt him. He tried everything that any youkai or human could think of. Until one day the voice in his head became too strong to ignore. He met his master for the first time that night, inside a dark castle that he felt was just crawling with evil. He began order him around like he was some kind of slave waiting to do his bidding.

 

I don't have to take this. He thought to him self one night. I'm the one that should be giving HIM orders. I have superiority over him.

 

He was after all the son of the right hand man to the lord of the western lands. That little toed that followed him around was just there for his amusement, and to keep the human girl that was with him fed, entertained and safe. The last one he doesn't do such a good job of. His father was adviser to the lord of the west, and his most trusted man. His father knew things that even that little toed didn't know. He knew that his father had men scouring all of Japan looking for him. But no one would find him until his master was ready for him to be found.

 

He arrived at his master's castle.

 

He went inside to receive his punishment.
