Hi all, sorry for the long wait, before we start this chapter I have to say to Queen Tatooine thanks for the Idea, so every one reading this thank her for the idea other wise this probably wouldn't be out for a looooooong time now. *hug*

 

P.S. IMPORTANT! I'm going to be changing my name to Dark Angel Of Love soon, if nobody else has it. And if someone else dose, then I'll have to think of something else, but that's my name every where else so…..yeah, anyway have fun!!

 

 

In the mirror: Chapter twenty seven. Breaking the barrier

Something wasn't right here.

 

I just have a bad feeling in my gut, and my gut never lies to me. We've been walking for almost an hour now and there's still no end to this maze in sight. Sesshomaru and I have been fighting for the last ten minutes about pointless shit and Kagome looks like she's getting pissed. Not that I'm afraid of her or anything but I'd rather travel with her when she's not out for blood. I can't blame her though. We don't have much time before Shippo, Rin and Keiko, that's her name I've been told, become fried youkai's. Well, two youkai and one human.

 

Sesshomaru hasn't said anything for the last two minutes since we stopped fighting, which really surprises me since he never lets me have the last word. I think he's sick. Sick with worry that is. If the miasma didn't get to Rin first then the lava will by the time we get there.

 

Shut the fuck up. Don't say shit like that, you'll get to them in time. A voice said in the back of my head.

 

I shouldn't talk about Sesshomaru since I know I'm feeling the same way. I can't believe that I let that bastard get to Shippo. It's my fault he's in the situation he's in right now. I know Sesshomaru's thinking that same thing. Probably wanting to kill him self twice as hard as I want to because he let two of his pack get captured. That girl Keiko is the neko youkai that was trained to use that barrier that knocked me on my ass. She's also the girlfriend of that Shizuka bastard. I was right when I said he was under control. According to Sesshomaru he was a decent youkai before he got his hands on one of the jewel shards, then one day Keiko came running into the main corridor of the castle yelling that he had hit her and ran off. Everyone that knew him knew that he was in love with her and wouldn't do anything too hurt her intentionally. They sent out search party's all over the land of Japan but no trace of him was ever seen again, until earlier today.

 

When Sesshomaru went to check it out that's when the guard that was supposed to protect Rin took her to Naraku. Naturally when Sesshomaru found out what he did, even though he tried to cover it up, Sesshomaru took off his head, but not before taking off his arms and legs all in less then a minute. I'm sure it was much longer then that to the guy. Not that I have any sympathy for him, I think I would've done the same thing. He was supposed to do something else for Naraku before he gave him the jewel shard that he promised him, but he never got the chance before Sesshomaru killed him. Don't ask me what it was, I don't have a clue.

 

“Inuyasha? Do you feel that?” Kagome asked me as she came to a stop. Sesshomaru and I stopped too and turned to look at her.

 

“Feel what?” I asked.

 

“That, I don't know, I guess you could say ora. I feel something and its bugging my miko senses. I feel like we should be going the other way.” She said looking at the wall to the left of us.

 

“And how would you like us to do that exactly?” I said sounding a little pissed off. I knew the minute I said it that I shouldn't have said it THAT way. I hope she knows I'm just really annoyed right now.

 

“I'm just saying that that's what I feel. You don't have to snap my head off.” Oh gods she sounds like she going to cry. Why me? Can't I ever keep my fucking mouth shut once?

 

“As much as I hate to admit it my idiot brother is right. Without Keiko there's no way to get through the barrier.” Sesshomaru said. Wow, he came to my defense…sort of.

 

“Well that's true for youkai, but what about miko's? Did your dad ever say that miko's could break the barrier somehow? I mean it was a monk that invented it in the first place right?” She had a point. Maybe she could break the thing down.

 

“I honestly don't know. I never gave the barrier much thought before or after that one time. The documents for the research are in my study in the castle.”

 

“Yeah well that doesn't help us now dose it?”

 

“Don't start Inuyasha. I didn't stop to think after that basterd took Rin about going to get documents that I haven't seen since I took over fathers rein.”

 

As I continued to fight with him I saw Kagome out of the corner of my eye walk towards the wall and try to touch it. She got burnt, and I turned away from my fight with Sesshomaru to scold her.

 

“What the hell, are you crazy Kagome?!” I ran over to her. “What the hell are you thinking?” I took her hand in mine and turned it over to have a better look. It was all red and in a couple of spots it was even bleeding. I tore a peace of my haori off to wrap her hand with. Sesshomaru walked back over to us and stopped me from wrapping it. “What the hell are you doing?”

 

“Her hand is not burnt.” He said taking her hand out of mine and holding it in his own. Safe to say I wasn't too happy about that but I wanted to know if he had gone blind or something.

 

“What do you mean `not burnt'? Is your eye sight on the frits?” Kagome looked a bit nervous.

 

“No, her hand is hot, which would make it red and the cuts are from the sparks. But her hand is not burnt. It would have been black like mine.” He turned his hand over, the one that he used to test the barrier before, and he was right. It was almost held, but you could still see some of the blackness that was there before.

 

“Well, maybe you kept it on the barrier longer then she did. Her hand IS hot which means that she was close to getting burnt.”

 

“Maybe not. Maybe she's right and the miko power she has can break the barrier down.” I looked away from her to look at him.

 

“What are you crazy? I'm not going to let her risk her life to try and take a barrier down”

 

“We don't have much time left. She might be the only chance we have of getting Rin, Shippo and Keiko.”

 

“I'm still not letting her do that.”

 

“It really isn't up to you now is it? Maybe you should stop playing the part of mother hen and let her make her own decisions.”

 

“She's my responsibility and I'm not going to let her put her self in that kinda danger.”

 

“Maybe someone would like my opinion since I'm the one you're talking about like I'm not even here?!” Kagome yelled taking her hand out of Sesshomaru's hand. “As much as I appreciate you thinking I have the right to make my own decisions Sesshomaru, Inuyasha IS my protector. And you, I'm glad you worry about me so much but Sesshomaru's right. This might be the only chance we have to get them back alive. And I'm taking it.”

 

She stepped between us and put both of her hands on the barrier. Little sparks flew from her hands and there was a ripple in the barrier that went down the rest of the walls. She closed her eyes and pushed harder on the barrier. I wanted to stop her but I couldn't. I knew this was the only way that we were going to find them in time. After a few more minutes of her pushing on the barrier before a bright light washed all down the walls of the maze and it fell away. Kagome pulled back and cradled her hands to her chest. I was by her side in a second.

 

“Here, let me see.” I said. She pulled her hands away from her self long enough for me to see that they were burnt this time. I took the piece of my haori that I had ripped before and started to wrap one of her hands. She moved a little and out of the corner of my eyes I saw Sesshomaru wrapping the other hand with a piece of his haori. When we were done she took a step back as Sesshomaru and I took out our swords and started blasting the maze walls. We cleared the way and Kagome followed. After blowing away the entire maze we came to a door way with a light shinning through it. We walked through the door way and we all just stared in front of us.

 

Hangings over the vat of lava with the others were Sango, Miroku and Kirara.

 

“Well, I guess you made it just in time to watch your friends die.”
