InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ In the wild ❯ Night Terrors ( Chapter 6 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Author's note: The whole rainforest theme here is based on my experience in one. So if you notice some of my details in things, it's because I have been in one. It's beautiful and I wished that society would stop killing the trees. I'm done with my rant, now on with the story

Night Terror 6

Kagome found herself lying deep in the forest where she fell. Getting up she shook her head. `I must have been dreaming about the hut and the dogs they weren't real. Of course I was dreaming stupid, dogs don't talk. And they can't get that big.' Getting up she looked around for a path to follow. While walking through the forest, she immediately noticed a difference in the scenery. Of course the forest was alive and beautiful with its sounds of birds, insects and other creatures. It's the feeling she was getting that was off.

After the bandit attack, and when she first was traveling, the forest felt like home to her. Now it seems to want her to leave. The greenery looks darker; the faint signs of light of day seem dreary. Even the trees seem mad at her for some reason.

Along with the sounds of the beetles and birds, was a child singing with them. Curious Kagome proceeded to head deeper in the foreboding forest to find the child. The closer she got to the voice, the quieter the other forest creatures got. Kagome found herself getting anxious at the thought, and almost decided to turn around and head to the opposite direction. `Stop being stupid, a child singing means I am close to a village, and then I can work from there.' She thought.

Within minutes instead of her normal walk through the tall grass, she found herself on a narrow path. `I knew it. I'm close to civilization.' With that she walked faster down the path and continued following the child's voice. Not once did she think that it should be impossible to hear the child's song.

It wasn't even 100 feet later when the path opened up to a clearing. In the clearing was a cove in which seven waterfalls displayed themselves. The waterfalls fell to a large stream that may end up in the river. On one of the large rocks was a little girl, petting a mongoose.

The child looked like she was six or seven years of age. She had long white hair similar to the man in her dreams. Unlike him, her skin was just as pale. The child looked up at her and Kagome gasped. Her eyes were ever changing from black to green. It wasn't even the color that scared it was the evil that was in the child

Before Kagome opened her mouth, the girl looked away then asked. “Why are you here? Why did you come to our home?”

“I….I needed to get away.” She answered honestly.

“We sense danger from you Kagome.” The little one said

“I don't understand.” Kagome said taking another step to her.

“We think you are here to take our home away.”

“No, I don't want to do that, I just am here to find a home.” Kagome pleading to her, confused why she needed to answer to a child.

“We don't like you.” The girl then said looking at her now.

“Who's we?” Kagome asked then looking around.

“We know why you are here; we won't let you take him. He belongs to us. You can't be with him. Brother is to be left alone. We want you gone now!” The child then got up and snapped the neck of her pet.

Kagome backed up and was about to run, when she heard the sounds of rustling behind her. She turned and saw three large fierce dogs growling at her. Unlike the first two she saw, these were looked like giant Labrador retrievers, with pointed ears.

“Leave now or we will kill you.” The child now yells.

Kagome sat up on the bed blinking. “Dear god that was a dream. I'm going mad.” She thought sadly. She looked around and sure enough, she was in the large hut, warmly tucked in, in nothing but a white t-shirt. She noticed that the home was warm, nicely insulated she noticed there was one corner a fridge and a sink. `Nice place' was the thought that she had.

She got out of bed and checked around for the other occupants of the home, when satisfied she looked for anything that belonged to her. On the table was her yellow backpack opened. She rushed over there to find any type of clothing to wear.

Still spooked about the dream, she had her mind set on leaving this home. Her destination was unknown. For all she knew the owner was kidnapping her, or worse one other the men that want her dead. Whatever the case is, she had the sudden urge to leave and that is what she plans on doing.

After dressing she got her back pack together. She looked around and grabbed some fruit that was left on the table. Looking around she also grabbed small cutting knife and two bottles of water. Within minutes she grabbed a piece of paper out of her bag and scribbles thanks and put a five dollar bill on the table. Satisfied with what she did, she headed out of the home and back into the unknown.
