Sesshoumaru threw the carriage door open to peer inside, confirming his suspicions. Inside, sprawled across the cushioned seat, lay his new servant. Her tussled greasy hair strung about her shoulders in thick tangles. The first thing he would have her do is bath, then he would have one of the servant fetch some cloths for her until she could be fitted for a suitable outfit.
He was about to reach in to wake her, prepared to grab her arm and haul her to her feet to be whisked inside and up to a room that would be hers for the remainder of her five years of servitude.
His brother presence halted him.
Peering over his shoulder Inuyasha chuckled. “Cant really blame her. Probably the most comfortable surface she's sat on in quite a while. Poor woman, she's probably exhausted, maybe even sick.” running a hand through his bangs he scratched lightly behind his ear with a carefully filed claw. “She should probably rest a few days before anything. I'll have one of the servants start a bath for her if you'd like, but I really don't think we should wake her just yet.”
Sesshoumaru sighed, knowing well what his brother was saying. Swiftly but gently he scooped the woman up into his arms, walking briskly into the house he ignored the small smirk displayed upon his brothers face as he passed.
Settling her own onto the thick quilts covering the bed he turned to leave, just outside the door he locked gazes with a passing servant. Abruptly she stopped, handing the basket of linens to the girl next to her who took them without question the woman hurried, head bowed, into the room to care for the lady within.
Pressing his lips firmly shut Sesshoumaru continued down the hall to his office. Opening the two thick mahogany doors he walked through, closing them firmly behind him. The room remained as it had been when he left. Everything in its proper order, nothing disturbed, not that he expected any different but he had developed the habit of checking.
Sliding out of his coat he rolled up his sleeves and surveyed what had become his work station. He knew he would soon have to travel back to London to check on his estates personally, but until then he was certain he could manage things here. He had been doing so for almost ten years now.
Settling down on the end of his large desk he pulled the roll of papers from within his vest to survey the contents.
It mentioned neither surname nor province, which was unusual. He briefly entertained the thought that she was an unwanted child, but quickly discarded the possibility. Had she been unwanted she would have been tossed at a much younger age, and not educated to the amount of the knowledge he had glimpsed in her eyes. No, her posture and gaze had shown years of refinement and sophistication.
Delicately he traced the swooping curves of ink that inscribed her name.
Kagura.

Sorry it took me so long and that this is so short, but I was stuck here for a time.
Hopefully I'll have the next chapter up soon!
