Chapter 3

Inuyasha sat in Keade's house waiting for her to return. He was very impatient and worried. "Keade where are you!" He yelled suddenly, "I don't have time for this!" His anger and worry grew with every passing second. "I'll have to find the damn temple by myself!"

Inuyasha took off suddenly and began running. He ran into to the middle of the forest yelling Kagome's name. Then he stopped. "Kag…ome" he said through his breath.

"I can help you young lad," an old voice said from behind Inuyasha. He turned around and saw an old man standing behind him. He was dressed in a black robe with a winding green snake imprinted on it.

"Who are you…how can you help," Inuyasha asked.

"I am Sita and I know all"

"You are Inuyasha, and you are searching for a young women named Kagome."

"Where is she! How do know!"

"I know all…she is being held in the temple of the three Gods. You must travel far. First you must cross the Forest of Shikans, then the lake of Thiatins, and last the Desert of Illusions."

"Where are these places!"

"Walk directly west until you reach a tree that looks like a man, then turn North and walk until the grass is all gone. The forest of Shikans should be in view."

Inuyasha said the directions over in his head and then turned his head away from the man. When he looked back Sita was gone.

The sun was setting on the horizon and Inuyasha began walking towards it because the sun set in the west.

Inuyasha walked quickly forward and then started thinking about the Sita. The strange and mysterious person held a familiar scent. Sita held a scent similar to Kagome or Kikyou's scent.

Inuyasha walked a long distance before he began to run. Everything in his body was telling him to move forward quickly. He soon began to run at an incredible pace. A trail of dust followed him as he ran.

Inuyasha stopped and looked around. He squinted ahead and saw a black thing in the distance. He ran closer to it until he stood on its roots. He looked up and could make out a man. This must be the tree Sita was talking about.

Inuyasha turned north and began to once again run.

His path became bumpy. Rocks and giant boulders stood all around him. He felt like an ant surrounded by huge buildings and towers.

Soon the grass was gone. The ground was a large mass of red dirt. Inuyasha looked around himself and saw the forest of Shikans far off.

Entering the Forest of Shikans----------------------------------------

Inuyasha walked into the forest with his sword drawn and ready to strike. A mat of dead grass and rotten made up the forest floor. The trees were all brown and a horrible stench filled Inuyasha nostrils.

He walked, carefully stepping over logs, as he made his way through the forest. There was no noise. The only sound that could be heard was Inuyasha's footsteps. He came to a clearing and sat down in the brown grass for a rest.

The sun was in the middle of the sky and Inuyasha was soaked in sweat. He yawned and looked over his shoulder. Only a mass of dead trees was in view. Inuyasha closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The Dream----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Help!!!" Kagome yelled. "Get him away!!!"

The tall man Inuyasha saw at the lake stood holding a struggling and screaming Kagome.

Inuyasha ran towards Kagome. He ran as fast as he could but never got any closer to Kagome. Soon everything faded into darkness and Inuyasha woke up.
