Chapter 1
It had been three weeks since Kagome had come home to her own era. In those three weeks much had happened. The party of travelers had helped Sango off to a very productive start with her village and it seemed Miroku was intended to help her repopulate it single handed, or at least with her. Kagome was met with a big surprise when she landed in her own time. Grandfather had decided to raise money for the shrine by hosting a Dog Ears Festival. There were headbands at the gate with ears like Inuyasha's for people to wear; Inuyasha was in hysterics at the sight of it.
As Inuyasha, and Kagome were taking it all in, Grandfather strode up to them.
“Settle down,” he said to the still laughing half-demon.
“This is incredible Grandpa,” Kagome commented, “is all this for Inuyasha?”
“Yes, and for the shrine. The damage he causes is expensive to repair.”
“You weren't complaining when I was saving your life old man.”
“I'm not saying I'm ungrateful you arrogant pup.”
Inuyasha growled, threatened, “who are you calling a pup you feeble bag of bones?”
“Inuyasha, SIT.” Kagome ordered calmly.
“AHH!” Inuyasha yelped as he was compelled into a faceplant.
Kagome knelt down next to him, “just drop it okay Inuyasha? This is a festival, relax, have fun.”
Inuyasha raised his head slightly to glare at Kagome. Kagome just smiled.
“Think about it, now I can introduce you to my friends.”
“Inuyasha's head dropped back to the ground, “whatever you say, Kagome,” he mumbled.
Kagome blinked, Inuyasha was differing to her?
Inuyasha stood up slowly, “so what do you want us to do?”
“Stay out of my way and stick together. Why don't you two go get washed up, you're just in time for lunch?”
After lunch, Kagome decided to take a much-needed bath. She was beginning to dose off when the door opened. It was Inuyasha.
“Oh here you are Kagome.” He yelled as Kagome screamed and landed a shampoo bottle square on his face. “Come on, it's not like I haven't seen you naked before”
“It's not like I want you to either,” she retorted.
“Alright, I'll go.”
“Why don't you wait by the door”?
“Oh, okay.”
Inuyasha did as he was asked and stood in the hallway, “Kagome?” he asked.
“Yeah”
“How many times have I seen you naked”?
Kagome sank a little into the water, “more times then I care to remember.”
“You know, I don't mind it so much.”
“What!” What in the world was he saying?
“I ... really ... kind of ... like you're body, Kagome. You really take good care of yourself.”
Kagome's whole face was bright red, “you really think so.”
“Yeah, I really must have gotten used to you if I think that.”
“You know, you're not so bad looking yourself, Inuyasha.”
Now it was the half-demon's turn to blush, “you really think so?”
“Mmhm, and you're comfortable to lay against.” Inuyasha turned three shades redder. “I feel safe around you.”
“That's what I'm here for. You know, I feel safe around you too.”
“Me? Why?”
“Feel safe because I know you are safe”
“I never knew you felt that way”
“Yeah, I know,” they were silent for a while as Kagome scrubbed, then he said, “you're not alike at all.”
“Who? Me and Kikyo?”
“Yeah, you feel different to me.”
“Different? How?” `Does he like me more then her now?' She asked herself, `oh I hope so.'
”She used to make me want to settle down, you make me glad I didn't. You make me want to talk to you, open up. You know me better then anyone, Kagome. In fact, the only person that knew more about me ... was my mother.”
”You don't talk about your parents much.”
”You should know why.”
”That's true, I wish I could have met your mother. She seems like she was such a kind hearted person.”
”She was, I miss her very much.”
After a few moments, he asked, “hey Kagome, are you going to be in there much longer?”
“I'm almost finished, all I have left to do is to scrub my back and wash my hair.”
“Hey, I know it sounds kind of forward of me but would you let me do it?”
