Kikyou flinched only slightly at his words.
Lifeless eyes looked upon the ground, though a small smile crept onto her lips.
"Impossible Inuyasha. We are bound to each other for eternity."
She brought her face only to find he was still watching his feet. A small hand touched his chin and brought up his gaze.
"Inuyasha.....have you forgotten me already? Has my reincarnation taken my place in your heart?"
She spoke softly, though inside her heart, well what was left of it, was breaking.
"Keh!" Inuyasha jerked his head to the side.
"Kikyou it isn't like you to be a baka. Of course I haven't forgotten you! I think of you every time the wind blows! Or when the sun rises...Damnit Kikyou...
I've continously hurt someone very close to me....and have always put you ahead of her feelings. Isn't that enough??!"
He was angry, Kikyou could feel it. This was new to her, never had he directed his anger at her. Never. -That mere slip of a girl has captured his heart. Though there is nothing I can do for the moment.
I need to build my strength. The battle with Naraku is nearing....I must be ready!-
" Inuyasha....we are bound to each other for eternity.....whether in this life or the next....You will see."
As she spoke, she began walking away from him and before he could stop her, she faded into nothing.
"Kikyou!"
"Kikyou!!!"
"KIKYOU!!!!"
An angry sigh comes from him.
"Baka Kikyou....." He stared after where she departed for a moment longer before heading off in the direction that Kagome had fled from.
He barely made it to the tree she had hidden behind, when he caught her scent.....faint.....but on the wind. -What is this? Tears?! Damnit Kagome....Please....be ok-
He broke into a run as fast as his feet could carry him back to camp.
Meanwhile at camp, Kagome had already changed her clothes and put them in her knap sack. Leaving Shippou in her sleeping bag, she crossed to Kirara and woke the young cat demon gently.
Kirara opened red eyes to her. " Kirara.....I need you please...."
Kirara nodded silently at her and lightly jumped off Sango's stomach where she then transformed into her larger self and waited for Kagome to climb on.
Kagome thanked her by rubbing her cheek into the nape of Kirara's throat. " I'm going home for good this time....To the well Kirara"
Kirara nodded and growled softly before taking off into the sky.
They were almost out of sight when Inuyasha came into camp. He searched for Kagome only to find her and the cat demon missing.
" Damn it all! "
He didn't even need to look to the skies, he knew where Kirara and the young miko were heading.
He just hoped he got there before they did....Before Kagome sealed.....
-No..I can't think like that. She will understand.....I'll explain myself. I need her....-
"Kagome.....wait for me"
With that he was off running on the winds, bouncing effortlessly off the branches of trees. Running even faster then he had moments before.
He did not care what he disturbed in his quest for the Bone Eater's Well.....all he could see was Kagome's sad face in front of his eyes. He growled and pushed on faster.
Kirara touched the ground finally, and Kagome slipped off her. She hugged Kirara again.
"Thank you Kirara....give this to Sango when she wakes...."
Kagome had handed a letter to Kirara, in which explained everything. Kirara nodded to her and took the letter gently in between her teeth.
She looked to Kagome, her expression was saying, -" Do you want me to wait?"-
" Go on Kirara....I'm ok now....Thank you."
Without another thought, Kirara turned, growled softly for her, and took off into the sky.
Kagome waved her off, tears flowing freely. Once Kirara was a good distance away, she turned to the well and looked at it for a moment.
-This is really it huh.....Damnit Inuyasha....Find the shard and defeat Naraku all by yourself!-
- With your precious....K.i.k.y.o.u.......Curse her..always takes him away from me! I hate her!-
A gasp escaped her own mouth, as she reached up to touch her burning cheeks. She doesn't hate Kikyou....She knew better then to talk like this.
How could she hate the woman...who was thought to be dead....for these last few months. Kagome couldn't get mad at her. Kikyou's heart is stuck in one place.....
As long as she walks this Earth, Kikyou is always going to love Inuyasha. The same for that damned hanyou.
She didn't hate either of them....she was hurting that's all.
Well it was time for her to stop all the pain and hurt. Kagome knew she had to leave. So why was it taking her forever to go down the well and seal it?
Was she secretly wishing Inuyasha would show up and stop her? Of course she wished for that.....but she knew better.
He was off with Kikyou.....probably sharing yet another sweet embrace.....a kiss perhaps?
Thinking of them that close, made her even more upset, and she finally got up the urge to step to the Well.
She had climbed onto it, and sat that the lip of the well. She sighed softly and was about to jump in when she heard him.
Inuyasha....he was calling her name. Kagome didn't move, she waited for him to approach, though her face was turned away to hide her sad expression and tears.
Inuyasha saw her, he was almost there.
"Kagome!! Kagome!!"
-She heard me! And she hasn't moved......good!-
He raced towards and stopped just behind her, panting a little.
"Thank Kami......I thought I didn't reach you in time....Kagome, don't do this....look at me"
He reached out and touched her shoulder.
Unable to help herself, Kagome looked at him. At the expression on her face made Inuyasha back up a few steps. He had never seen such raw pain.
A moment later Kagome was standing, crushed against him. For he had pulled her off the well and into his arms. He knew what caused this...and he was going to do everything to erase that from her mind.
The miko was against him, he had his arms wrapped around her small body, and he had his cheek next to her temple. She could hear him mumbling soft words. But all she could hear was her own heart pounding hard against her chest.
She looked up to him, and at her movement, he brought up his head too.
She had been ready to scream at him when his eyes stopped her. -What was this in his eyes..? Love? Baka....he loves Kikyou-
"I'm going home Inuyasha. I can't continue this quest any longer. Have Kikyou join the search....she is a miko too. This way you can always protect her...and...be with her"
Inuyasha just stood there listening to her.....and shook his head.
" Baka.....who will protect you then...?"
She made a noise to answer him, but was stopped when his mouth landed on hers.
He kissed her very gently and broke away from her lips a moment later.
" Kagome.....you must of not heard our entire conversation. I told Kikyou I was done protecting her.....That I swore myself to someone else.... No...Kagome...Don't interupt. I need to get this out."
He took a deep breath and poured out his heart.
